  1. A tax in Runescape is pointless (among many things in a virtual world programmed to give the illusion of reality), hence the name change as it is a service fee if implemented. Taxes in real life are not a bad thing. How taxes are collected (and used) can be considered a bad thing, but that's up to the society that empowers the government that collects and uses them. Unless you have friends that are putting out fires and building roads for you for free. So yeah, taxes is a loaded term that people associate with punishment. Never mind that many things that give life a bit of luxury and security comes from taxes. I really don't understand what the problem is with a tax. Like I said on the first page, make it on ALL transactions over a certain amount, let's say 1,000,000. Not just GE transactions, but all. I personally would have no problem with paying 1% on anything over a mil.
  2. I like the "luxury" tax idea on transactions over x gp. For those who worry that this would run people out of the GE, remember that Jagex could implement the tax on all trades, even ones outside the GE, like they did with price ranges. Also, I don't think that 1% would really be that steep.
  3. Is it just me or do I remember, in the very recent past, RS having adverts for other games (specifically another MMORPG) on the top banner on their homepage? If this is true: Hypocritical much Jagex?
  4. Why? because the idea is completely unoriginal and completely uncalled for. I don't see a legitimate reason of why they had to change Hitpoints. it was fine, nobody had problems with it, and everything was fine and dandy. I don't see how this sudden dramatic change is going to benefit anything. I think Jagex is only getting pressured into changing Runescape so that it could fit the criteria of other modern MMPORPGs and their first step happened to add a 0 into every [cabbage] we hit on. WOW JAGEX THAT WAS SO FREAKIN' BRILLIANT! WE SO NEEDED THIS UPDATE!!! I played Runescape because it was Runescape. Now it just feels like any other RPGs where everything is in 3-4 digits. I can't ever believe that they would implement such a disappointing update. I'm just about ready to stop spending even one cent in this cruddy peice of [cabbage] company called Jagex. Good bye and I hope you have fun with your new generation of pre adolescent players. Really, what is the big freaking deal? I'm already use to the new format after a couple of hours. I'm really interested in seeing what Jagex does with this now.
  5. You clearly didn't read the whole topic. Considering people have explained how it opens up the door for weapons that hit higher. Care to explain? If the hitpoints and damage are multiplied using the same ratio, than essentially what we had before was the same, so this changes nothing. Simple logic. As others have said, now that your constitution level and lifepoints bar are separate, we can have lifepoint boosting set effects or items like the constitution potion that will raise your max lifepoints. You sir, clearly do not get what i'm saying. They could have added all that when we had 99 hp, this doesn't change anything. Jesus, it's a constant ratio. It's a constant ratio NOW, but semi-untethering LP's from Cons frees them up to have LP not as dependent. Also, I want my "cursed" weapon that will damage Cons so ppl can't heal back up as high.
  6. I must disagree with you somewhat. I think the majority of those with Strykewyrms don't worry about the money. They simply don't want people to have it any easier than they did. I kind of think of it as the Nomad clause. The reason why people didn't want to see Nomad get changed was not because they were debating if he was too hard. They had killed him while hye was hard and they were darned if they'd let anyone do it easier. I think the same applies to Strykewyrms. While I do agree with you, seeing as how people have complained every time Jagex makes something "easier"..I.E. make all/x, ivy, ecto/altars, etc., I don't think that the outcry/outrage would have been near as loud and far reaching, with the size of the pool of slayers 93+ as small as it is, had it not been for the SoL.
  7. From what I've seen of the discussions (especially the one on RSOF) this situation seems to boil down to this: Those with firecapes are being protectionist because they don't want to see their cash cow disappear. Those without firecapes are being whiny because they don't see it as fair that they can't cash in on said windfall. I know that this isn't everyone on both sides, but as a general rule this is what people are saying. Me, myself have the 93+ slayer but don't have a firecape. I really don't care weather Jagex changes the requirement. If they do, fine, if they don't I'll do fight caves.
  8. 2 things: 1) I've always considered WoW to be the crack of MMO's , whilst RS is the pot of MMO's. 2) Could you imagine if Jagex decided to only cater to maxed players? The outcry would be heard around the world.
  9. When I started playing it was an uber-rare thing to see a player over lvl 100. Usually they were surrounded by a cloud of lower lvls bugging them. Now, it seems like the majority of players are 100+. So the elite section of this diary caters to less than 6000 players; and? Whats wrong with having some content that targets "elite" players? This situation reminds me of the people who will call you a noob ingame for being lower level than them, but will call you a no-lifer for being higher.
  10. But, doesn't summoning affect PvP? It's a mixed skill, all this update does is turn herblore into a skill along the lines of summoning.
  11. No offence intended but that idea is awful, unless you're taking the piss, then its great. Why? It makes herbalists happy since they can still use their extreme pots in PvP, and it makes PK'ers happy since people toting extreme pots will have their cmbt lvl affected. So, what reasons are there that make this bad?
  12. So, lets compromise and make everyone/no one happy. Work it sort of like they did summoning, only no addition to cmbt in non-PVP and in PVP it adds to your cmbt ONLY if you are carrying extreme pots. Everyone satisfied?
  13. Apparently people aren't understanding what I said here. I believe that Jagex should have stopped after PvP worlds and any problems with them should have been bug fixed...not had new content added to band-aid the problem. Jagex should live by the acronym K.I.S.S. : keep it simple stupid.
  14. I agree with a lot of what you are saying. When PvP worlds first came out, I thought it was a great idea. Then came posts about people getting DFHs from people in full rune. Then came the "PvP trick", and suddenly tons of people are making ridiculous amounts of money. In my opinion, this is where Jagex should have stopped. They should have focused on fixing these issues (and any others that came up) with PvP worlds and not on coming up with other PvP options to appease the masses.

    Unfair bh worlds

Congratulations OP, you have won the Rants forum highest honor: the Medal of Fail. Wear it with pride knowing you are among the few, the elite,......the developmentally delayed.
  16. I came here expecting to yet another rant on pvp. Its good to see some intelligent discussion on the subject. I agree that they should limit the amount that you can get to what your opponent has on him...max. It should be random, but weighted by EP. i.e. if you've been fighting in a hotzone for awhile, you can still end up getting nothing for a drop, but, it would be a way smaller chance than if you just got there.
  17. Oh, no, we wouldn't want to incur any risk to gain the ridiculous amount of xp that can be had whilst wearing brawlers #-o . I've said this in another thread: I think that brawlers should have not been protect-able from the beginning. I'll also add what someone else said: if you want higher xp and don't want the risk, quit wining and use SC tools.
  18. LOL @ the pic of the protesters a few pages back. It cracks me up to see how people, immediately after any major update, freak out and think that the economy is going to collapse #-o . OK, some items will go through adjustments, but the entire economy isn't going to fall apart
  19. I really don't understand why everyone seems to think this. Oh, no, there's actually some risk involved in using gloves that net you INSANE amounts of xp. Personally, from the start, I've thought that they should be worthless/unable to be protected.
  20. So, my question is: are you a poor excuse for a professional troll, or are you just an amateur trying to work his way up through the ranks? Seriously, you are the always slamming Jagex over anything they do. Why are you continuing to pay your money to play a game you so clearly hate? And then just to add a punch to the crotch, you constantly post on a FAN site for the very game that you apparently hold in such contempt. If Runescape is such an Epic Fail in your eyes, why don't you go and spend your hard earned (snicker) cash on Maplestory?
  21. For me, seer and archer are the only two I'd be interested in. With imbued archer ring, ranger boots, accumulator, full armadyl, glory, unholy book, rfd gloves and rune c'bow that'll put range bonus at +203
  22. http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarticle.ws?article_id=946#rewards full list of imbue able rings and bonuses.
  23. For your level I'd say: (melee) -Slayer helm -Fury -Torag top/legs (you may hate them, but best bang for the buck) -Obby shield (defender for lower lvl tasks) and cape -Dragon boots -Zerker ring -Whip If you have the charms...get 68 summon for bunyip...well worth it for slaying.
  24. Ya, I loved those good old days. I made most of my money from Barrowsing and I just loved nothing better than standing around Faldor park for hours trying to sell my wares, having idiot teams come in and try to undersell me. Having people trying constantly to scam me. Good times, good times.
