Today...
All (hopefully fake) twitter and other media accounts and news outlets have worked well in getting me pretty [bleep]ing uneasy about our neighbour to the east. CIA official account tweeted information about Estonia. @DarthPutinKGB, a twitter account very well informed about pretty much everything Russia, has been making jokes about us even before it became clear that an Estonian counterintelligence officer was kidnapped. As if that dude knew it before. IN OTHER NEWS: Got me new laptop. Pretty amazing thing so far. Haven't noticed any lag in any games yet and it has 1080p screen and it cost just 600 euros. Of course, the most demanding game so far has been Crusader Kings II, so we'll see. Also, got a deal with me dad to get all of my stuff and finally, my BED to my new apartment. Can't wait.

Russian invasion of Ukraine
And FSB has confirmed, they were the ones. Guys, Russia has made a direct attack on a NATO state. 2 days after the visit of Obama. Yeah, he was here 2 days ago. Guess Putin is even ballsier than I thought. This thing is getting worse every minute.

Russian invasion of Ukraine
Unfortunately we have no contract or anything with Ukraine and Poroshenko himself told at the EU that they do not want any outside military help. It could be considered an intervention so as the things are right now, I can't support it. But if there was a change in some of the circumstances then yeah, I would support it. Only problem is, our standing army is only about 5000 strong + conscripts. We don't really have anything to send them.

Russian invasion of Ukraine

Russian invasion of Ukraine
In this current case it is right on the border of NATO, which pretty much makes it US's business. It would be the same as if I don't know, Quebec and Canada went to war with each other.

Russian invasion of Ukraine
I have a bit of a personal agenda here aswell... This thing is happening less than a thousand miles from me. Russia is less than 150 miles from me. Estonia has no real economic or strategic importance to the US. It would take 3 hours for Russians to take the whole country. Our pretty much only protection comes from international treaties. Whether NATO article 5 shall be used or are we just too insignificant and can be sacrificed. What is this small patch of land with 1.3m people anyways. No oil.

Russian invasion of Ukraine
Again, as was said before, it is not as much about purely strategic or economic importance, it is of their commitment. Their authority. US, or well, NATO has been very involved in Eastern Europe. Symbolically it has a massive influence. If US doesn't keep on their treaties, why would anyone ever even think they would be in any way better than Russia? Why wouldn't Iraq or Korea start partnerships with Russia and cut off USA, if they are the same? Russia could even give better incentives. What is the point of NATO? What is the point of Pacific partnerships? Why should Australia or Philippines or even UK hold good terms with US? Has EU no importance to US? Is the stability of EU of no importance to the US? This is happening right on the border of EU.

Today...
Bought a new laptop today. Opened it at home. Screen had a crack. Took it back to replace it. They said it's a mechanical damage and they can't replace it, at least without the manager present. [bleep] them. And [bleep] me. Hopefully I can get a replacement tomorrow at another store of the same chain, when there is a manager present.

Russian invasion of Ukraine
Maybe cause US, UK and Russia made a deal 1994 to support and preserve the then-current borders of Ukraine, no matter what, in exchange for which Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons. This treaty is the only reason why there isn't an all-out nuclear war already. Russia can go [bleep] itself, it has proven time and time again it doesn't hold treaties for nothing. But this is the authority of US at stake. What is the point of NATO or any other treaty that the US has signed, when they can't keep them?

Russian invasion of Ukraine
It ain't really American business here. [bleep]ing Merkel and Hollande and Cameron in the other hand... I understand Germans have invested a lot in Russia, but damn, you are risking your helluva lot larger investments in the EU.
-
Russian invasion of Ukraine
Well, it ain't only about East Ukraine anymore. Question is, whether Putin stops with Ukraine or goes further. Moldova for example... Ukraine's small neighbour, whose biggest export is humans (unfortunately). Poorest country in the EU, with lots of (older) people still yearning for the old Soviet times. Ain't looking too shabby for us either.

Russian invasion of Ukraine
Tell me about it. And I live in one of the most US-friendly countries in Europe.
