Tip.It Times: October 10
It's typical for a video game character to act as a blank slate onto whom the player can project his or her own personality--hence why so many heroes in RPGs are silent.

The Wilderness
I greatly disagree. If you go into the wilderness now, your chance of first being found by a revenenant is fairly low, add that on to them being very unbalanced at higher levels means that your chance of death, assuming you have at least done minimal preparation is very low. Renenants at the moment for higher level players are nothing more than an annoyance, compare that to pkers who were out to do nothing short of kill you as fast as possible, you have a huge difference. For lower level players and free to play, revenents are actually quite strong, using all three combat styles and hitting fairly high for their level, making them a challenge. But once you hit higher levels, they are severely inadequet for their job. They are lacking firepower and attack much to slowly. Add onto this the fact there are so many more places now to hide and safe from them with all the clutter in the current wilderness. I would be happy to carry a couple of million GP through the wilderness now, I would never do that with pkers. Before you had two choices when attacked, run south out of the wilderness, or run north to mages bank. You can now run to stealing creation, bounty hunter, clan wars, various teleport areas, corporeal beast etc. The general gist is that it is no longer dangerous or wild. The KBD is hardly more than an annoyance for high-level players, but that doesn't mean we should start using his lair to host a daycare service. It's not a problem for high-level players to be better at fighting than low-level players.

07-Oct-2010 - Postbag from the Heim + Chaos Elemental Riddles
Why would the Chaos Elemental hint at an update that was already revealed in Behind the Scenes? Because someone was lazy? I assume you're referring to civie here. :-|

In other words, "Our articles suck, but it's okay because we have very low standards." :shades:

Dragon Defender confirmed.
It's a bit late, but http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Dragonkin#Dragon_equipment.

The Wilderness
Revenants don't need to be stronger. Status quo is working fine.

So some of your articles suck. So what? It's nothing personal. :-w

Invisible boosts stackable? Easiest hunter strange rock?
Yes, the boost from a hunter potion and a spirit larupia will be cumulative.

Mysterious Portal Leaked?
It's nothing to do with Zamorak or any secrets. It's just the same portal they use as a quick temporary fix whenever a bug makes a staircase or something inaccessable. They used it for the Mos Le'Harmless bridge and for some stairs in Brimhaven Dungeon.

I'm fine with the first article. I think the author is too harsh on some of the minigames, probably projecting his own opinions of them onto the greater community--certainly with Soul Wars, and probably Conquest as well--and it seems dubious that Jagex's main motive in including them in quests is to advertise them. So pretty much I'd say it's wrong. But it's adequately-presented so meh.

1st October, 2010: Behind the Scenes - October
I'm not sure I follow you. The fact that there are an enormous excess of low level quests means that, rather than making higher level quests, we need instead to make low level quests that require other low level quests? What I mean is that there are so many low-level quests that players who haven't already done them shouldn't need a lot of new quests; thus, quests should be targeted at players who have already done lots of quests. And I believe those players are most interested in finishing off incomplete storylines with quests like Ritual of the Mahjarrat and tying up loose ends with quests like Glorious Memories.

1st October, 2010: Behind the Scenes - October
The problem is having to excessively grind for content... Also, whats the problem with low requirements? The problem with low requirement content is that either it gets used up and tossed out extremely quickly, or it has disproportionately useful rewards for the level requirements. The game is absolutely flooded with low requirement content- I can't understand how anyone could consider themselves in need of an update before they've reached high level (at least an average level of 80, including combats). There's an overwhelming number of quests and not a single one with a requirement that could be considered difficult in the big picture. If you don't want high level content to come out, then finish what's already on your plate. Jagex has spent the last 10 years working on your level group 99% of the time. It won't kill you to have one quest you can't do released. Using this logic, I would suggest that what we need are not level requirements but quest requirements--i.e. make more sequels or spinoffs of existing quests.

Ivy Tree Cutting Help.
 When Sawmill training was first released, I did a lot of research while working on the Tip.It Woodcutting Guide. In addition to that, when I was getting 99 Woodcutting myself, the only training methods I used were two Evil Trees per day and the rest of the EXP I gained through Sawmill training. It can be a bit repetitive, but if you concentrate it is definitely faster EXP than Ivy. People are under the impression that Ivy is faster only because they prefer the AFK-ability of Ivy, and they usually haven't tried out Sawmill Training themselves. Like I said, it can be a bit repetitive (I still really enjoyed it though, hence doing it all the way to 99 Woodcutting) but you won't really know until you try it out yourself! :) Edit: As far as actual tips go for Sawmill training (if you're interested) Only take on Large jobs Use a Crystal Saw if you can as it doubles the EXP you get per plank cut Have nothing in your inventory except for your saw If you make more planks than your current task requires, Remove them from the Cart and save them for your next job Sawmill is no good as a lv3 can't do the quest for crystal saw.

Kuradal's dungeon. Very helpful if you use Duradel. :ugeek:

Love nostalgia. Always raises the question - WAS it actually better/more fun/more whatever back then, or is it just nostalgia speaking? Like, remember good things, forget bad things, and people remembering things a lot more fondly once it's a memory, and not an active experience. No, it's definitely the latter.

Godswords- Outdated?
I'd guess Korasi's Sword has probably usurped that title now.

Are 99's really worth it...
In other words, there's no reason to get a 99.

Best way to level crafting?
Battlestaves don't profit, charging orbs doesn't train crafting, and spinning flax is pretty terrible for both cash and xp. :shame:

06-Oct-2010 - The Void Stares Back
The quest is built to tempt you to walk. Look how close together everyone is! It's only a short walk from Port Sarim to Draynor, right? Or from Draynor to Lumbridge...or across the River Lum...or to Varrock...or to Barbarian Village...or to OH GOD I JUST WALKED ALL THE WAY TO THE OPPOSITE END OF THE MAP
-
Are 99's really worth it...
Of course they aren't. You're just now realizing this?
-
Best way to level crafting?
Making battlestaves is fast and cheap. That's what I'd recommend once you can do it.
-
Troll weakness
They aren't especially weak to any single style, so just use your best weapon and standard melee armor.
-
Phat or 99 Mage
Phat is useless, 99 mage is useful. Seems like a no-brainer. :shades:
