  2. Oh, please no. Getting one fire cape was bad enough. I dont want to do it again. ;_; "Do X while wearing a fire cape."
  3. Nah, R&J was lame. Just a boring fetch quest. Agreed. It's funny how everyone assumes that old ( or "classic" ) content is immediately good and worthy of staying in the game. Almost all of the classic content in the game is utter [cabbage] (firemaking ftw right?..). Jagex would be wise to re-do every single old quest. I still don't know why Doric's Quest exists. 5 second turn-in, literally. It exists because, for a person starting out, it provides a decent tutorial to some common mining spots while offering experience, fun, and a little money. Eliminating it suggests that Jagex considers its current pieces of content to be of such higher quality that it no longer fits. However, Jagex has stayed away from creating too many complete beginner quests like this one. Longer quests do NOT provide hours and hours of content - in fact, while a player might take 5 minutes to do Doric's Quest from scratch while following a guide, there is perhaps 20-40 minutes worth of content in an average mid-level quest. The parts of quests that have improved the most are the graphics and audio, not necessarily gameplay. Sure, we're talking about the gameplay-lite quests, but Jagex has not filled the niche with enough new quests to render Doric's Quest obsolete and has not developed to the point where quests offer a significant chunk of gameplay. That particular quest does not get in the way or cause any problems. This can then be expanded to other quests including R&J. Each fills its own niche and Jagex has not filled those holes with anything major over time. They have NOT reached a level of gameplay that renders these quests obsolete. They simply do not have the manpower to rewrite even the simplest quests and I wish they'd stop devoting resources in RS' increasingly complex engine to attempt to do so. While beginner quests may not provide the same level of content as more advanced ones, they're much more important to the game because they're a new player's first impression of questing. Beginner quests are like a gateway into the game--everyone passes through them. Lackluster early quests can turn a player off of questing for most of their Runescape career, but the inverse is also true--well-designed quests will make players want to complete them. So the early quests play a very important role in the game, and Jagex can get a lot of mileage out of a solid beginner quest base. Also, you knock a little on the graphics and audio, but the fact of the matter is that gaming is an inherently aesthetic experience, and an aesthetically pleasing quest with good graphical elements can legitimately enhance that experience.
  4. Bork. That's 5% of your goal right there. Otherwise, you will get more xp overall by hunting for crimsons and taking the blue charms as just a bonus.

  6. Oh really? I could've sworn I had the opportunity (ie another event) once I completed my set, but...honestly? After so many runs my brain turned to jello and I could've easily got mixed up. Is there anywhere that says this? No, it doesn't say it anywhere. I thought it was a bug at first, but I asked some other people and they tipped me off about the dropping thing. Turns out once you have a full set, you can still get the event, but they don't drop the pieces anymore. You need to bring one of them and drop all your copies so that you break the full set, then pick them up again once you get the new drop.
  7. It does affect the odds in the sense that if you have all the pieces, it's impossible to get more. (Well, unless you bring one of them with you and drop it during the event.)
  8. It changes on a regular basis as prices fluctuate. Avantoe and snapdragon are usually safe bets; that's what I farm.
  9. Terrorbirds aren't assigned by Kuradal, so as soon as you hit 75 you'll just remove them anyway. Probably not the best use of slayer points.
  10. Why is that a bad idea, would bots simply bypass it? You would inevitably be "puzzled" every thirty minutes, and have multiple people attempting to "puzzle" you every few seconds. I would seriously quit. Randoms make me angry enough without other players being able to piss me off every thirty minutes. Randoms wouldn't be needed anymore then I think, since they are there to eliminate bots. There could be a system like the one already existing for randoms, if you succesfully complete it without errors you get less. (you only need to type in 1 word every hour/2hours, would that be so bad to completely whipe out bots?) Captchas would be the best way to implement this. They've been suggested before, but I doubt Jagex will ever do it. Captchas, done by the game every 6-8 hours in certain zones and when not in combat? I'm for it. We have those. They're called random events.
  11. MTK

Is this a serious statement? I mean honestly... It takes less than 20 seconds to check nests then crush them lol..? Not to mention the entire nature of doing MTK is just FREE money, and your telling me 20 seconds is labor. Wow whats this game coming too? :ohnoes: *shrug* I don't collect my resources very often and I prefer not to process things without getting xp. It's like, I could make the herbs into unf. pots and it would be pretty damn quick and make plenty of extra money, but I don't want to.
  12. Ah, well, alright then. Makes sense I suppose, the whole point of the level thing was for the assist system, which you can't use on trees.
  13. I say block kalphites. They have no drops, no charms, and there are much better tasks to cannon if you're going to cannon. I mean, unless you really like fighting the KQ, I guess.
  14. I don't think a dozen people here are likely to recommend torso. It's generally bad.
  15. Eh, I wouldn't quote me on that. I'm trying to find the source for it now to double-check and I can't seem to locate it on the RS website. :???: Quite frankly I wouldn't want to test it even if I didn't already have the level to plant all the trees.

I don't like maples because of the additional labor you have to do, crushing the nests and all that.
  17. No, You dont need to boost for checking health or picking herbs. The only thing you need to boost for is planting (trees/herbs) and for getting xp while picking herbs higher then your level. Been using this method for spirit trees and Torstol - if you have a big pies stock it is not a big hassle at all. You don't need the boost when you check, but you don't get xp if you're under the required level.
  18. You need Karil's, a ring, and a crush weapon for waterfiends.
  19. Now updated to track Miscellania and the circus.
  20. Yeah, ferocious ring is super-good with knives and darts. Better on hellhounds and greater demons, since they have lower defense, but blue dragons are still quite good for ranged xp with ferocious ring and high-level darts/knives.
  21. Crystal teleport is actually pretty far from the mining site. Think Varrock teleport to get to the Barbarian Village mine.
  22. 1. Fly fishing + Admiral Pie at 63 2. No
  23. Common misconception about the Amish, actually. They don't hate technology. More like they just eschew it in order to live a simpler lifestyle. </digression>
  24. Okay. No. It is not disrespectful. To say so is to imply that all Muslims bear guilt for the attack.
  25. I was thinking something fast, but also profitable By a player thinking of going for a skillcape Hey, so, I was thinking of getting a skillcape. I always feel like such a noob when I put together my outfits and all I have is a dinky Wilderness team cape or something lame like that. I need a cape that's actually cool. Besides, it'll be nice to get a skill to 99. The sort of thing I can show off to my friends, y'know? What skill should I go for? I think a fast skill would be pretty good. Maybe cooking or fletching or firemaking. Possibly thieving. I figure since it's my first skillcape, I should start with something easy, right? So something fast seems like a good bet. But then again, none of those are very useful. I'd like to have something to show for all those hours of work. What's the point of training for over a hundred hours and not getting richer out of the deal, right? I'm leaning towards hunter. It's pretty fast, it makes great profit, and that cape has some pretty snazzy earth tones going for it. Chinchompas are a pretty good training method, right? Oh god, please don't train hunter By a chinchompa Oh please, don't train hunter. Have you considered how it feels when you're the one deceived into investigating what looks like a perfectly harmless and interesting box (which as far as we know might contain a nice spicy piece of meat this time) and then suddenly being trapped in an enclosed space, struggling just to breathe, battering against the walls in confusion? How would you feel if some giant stuffed you into his smelly, poorly-ventilated little bag along with hundreds of other innocent people, all of them petrified with terror and panic? Please, don't do it. It's bad enough that you're kidnapping us, but bringing us to a slave market where we'll be sold off to be forced into the short life of a suicide bomber? We have families, you know. I have two kids of my own. Would you take me away and orphan them? Would you capture and enslave my children instead? Have mercy, sir! At the very least, I beg of you, have the compassion not to stuff thousands of us into a cramped little backpack. It's not just cruel and unsanitary--it's unsafe. We explode! You have no idea how many innocent chinchompa lives have been lost when some bungling adventurer decided it might be a good idea to bring a bag full of them onto an agility course for some somersaults. Why don't you train your woodcutting? Lumberjacking, now that's good honest work. Clear some of that ivy that's been creeping up your walls. Or how about crafting? Everybody loves dragonhide armor, right? And you get to spend your time with all those shiny gemstones. Just please, not hunter. We chinchompas are a peaceful race. We never wanted to hurt anyone. It's not in our nature to be aggressive, and we have nothing against mummies, nechryaels, or monkeys of any kind. After all, it's hard to win a fight when a mere scratch is enough to cause your body to explode. What have we ever done to you? We don't deserve this kind of cruel treatment! In the name of all the is good in this world, don't train your hunter skill to 99! Your conscience will...oh hey, what's in that box over there? It's a little mechanism. I wonder what happens if I--
