  1. http://techcrunch.com/2010/11/30/wikileaks-julian-assange/ For those wondering, this was a few months ago. Sweden was Assange's safehouse at the time, being very protective of its freedom of speech and journalism laws. He had planned to get a journalism career in Sweden so as to be protected by its laws from the far-reaching fingers of the US gov't. Two women who he may or may not have had relationships with, but were at least acquaintances of his, somehow accused him of the crime. When it was clear that Assange was not in Sweden and could not be "brought in for questioning", the charges were all dropped and it became clear that the women were lying. It seems to have been an attempt to imprison or harm Assange, but the people behind it are unclear. The US gov't is not the only powerful organization interested in him, and it is not the most dangerous one either. Interpol just added him to their most wanted list...yesterday. http://beta.ca.news.yahoo.com/interpol-puts-wikileaks-founder-julian-assange-most-wanted.html
  2. Don't mind me, just passing through. Aw man, totally should have posted that :(
  3. Ok, so why don't you do your little part and not provide business to said banks and self-interested corporations?
  4. Plenty of people forsake the capitalist society and go live in the wilderness...you could do that. If it's really as important as you think it is you'd welcome exile from a society that you feel is good for nothing anyway. A more moderate mindset accepts that no system is perfect, but it is by far the best fit for our individual and societal needs (out of the other options). As I've said before, you seem content to complain from an armchair while making no real effort to effect change.
  5. I guess it depends on the person. I know that a lot of the "veterans", as it were, of the clan world have already maxed their melee stats and don't particularly feel the urge to play outside of wars. Looking at my own experience, I certainly came online only for wars and clan events near the end of my career (although I never quite maxed) and I did well. The problem is that eventually you start to lose the interest you had in the game if you're only coming on for wars. They can be pretty monotonous and boring (a matter of opinion of course) so it starts to feel like work. The thing is, if you're only coming on for wars in the first place, the game as a whole probably feels like work. I do understand there's a desire to help out your clan by coming on for wars but I've always felt it's better to go out on top rather then slowly fizzle out. Adding in the factor of clan community involvement, you certainly miss out on the community within the clan if you're only coming on for wars. Overall...to each his own, I suppose.
  6. And this is what I don't understand. You're content to criticize our system while taking full advantage of its many benefits. Seems a tad hypocritical to me...
  7. So you think it would look better for the states if they just caused NK to be wiped off the map, rather then did it themselves? Interesting infographic about NK vs SK armies: http://awesome.good.is/transparency/web/1011/north-korea/transparency.jpg

Can a christian be tolerant towards a sinner? Im not an expert enough to know the verses by heart but I do know theres a verse that says basically that you should rid evil (sin) from your life. And there is somewhere where it says "man should not lie with another man as he would his wife for it is an abomination" So I ask you, if you are a christian and it says you should stay away from evil (sin) and sinful people, and homosexuality is a sin, does the christian faith allow for tolerance towards homosexuals? Im not saying its part of the doctrine to kill them but it is part of the doctrine to try and take them out of sin - basically try and convince them not to be a homosexual anymore. Im not saying I support this, ive made my views on christianity already but im curious what you think of that. You know like i said you'er going to get a diffirent answer from me than you will from the typical Christain. I'm not a hypocrit. I've smoked pot, i've been drunk, i've been there and done that and i don't hide it. If i get out of church and feel like a smoke i do it there and then, i don;t wait till i can hide in my car and do it. So my opinion on this is very open minded as aposed to the typical christian. Sure the Bible does say a lot of things about homosexuality being wrong but i personally have not yet seen a verse where it came from God's mouth. JC is a forgiving God and an understanding God. He will not give you homosexual urges if He did not mean for you to be homosexual. I think the way of living has changed a lot since Jesus walked the earth. Also, even if the Bible does say we should rid ourself of sinners it is not by killing them but rather than showing us right from wrong. It is not by dragging them to church or forcing them to repent/convert but by showing them RIGHT FROM WRONG. God (in my opinion) does not care wether you are a jew, muslin, christian or whatever, all he cares about is the way you live and how you respect those around you. You will not be judged on what you did wrong but rather by what you did right. A lot of modern churches lost the plot, my friend. And that is mainly why we live in such a godless world these days. The words in the bible were mainly written opinion based by conservatives and like i said life has changed and i wish someday the mindset of the people will too. And like i said also, God wants us to honour Him in what we do and if you feel it's by being homosexual then you do that. But then again, like i also said, i'm a very openminded christian so my opinion might not be the best. I do however believe that if God did not aprove of my way of thinking something would have been done to change it. So yeah i know its written in a confusing manner but i hope you understand what i'm trying to get at. So what you're saying is, you're Christian as long as it's convenient for you?
  9. So I take it you don't buy into this capitalist agenda, and have distanced yourself from it in every way possible? I find it unlikely considering in order to do that you'd have to move into the wilderness.

  11. Great movie. The timing suck, though  I'm guessing that is probably why they watched it. I am doing a Nielsen marathon this weekend. Easy A - When I first saw something related to this movie a long time ago just judging by that stuff I would have expected a really crappy generic teenage comedy. Then after it was out I heard great things about it from everyone. It was actually somewhere in the middle. Had I not heard great things about it I would have been really impressed with it, however without the praise there is a good chance I never would have watched it. Anyways Emma Stone is hot. This. It was pretty decent, better then I expected at least but I wouldn't call it great. Definitely going to watch Airplane! this weekend in memory..
  12. Lol'd :D Honestly this is kind of my point. No one has really explained why they feel the need to have knowledge of currently classified documents and conversations. I mean it's not like they're hiding this [cabbage] from you to be [bleep]s or anything, there is a reason why something is classified or not. I think too many people have this mentality of the 'big bad government' doing all these terrible things behind their back and that they clearly should know about these terrible acts. I agree with you. To be honest, the majority of what was released makes sense and has already been speculated about. I'm all for transparency, but only when appropriate. Sometimes, things just need to be kept under wraps for everyone's good. http://techcrunch.com/2010/11/30/wikileaks-julian-assange/ Yeah, I'd heard about this before. I wonder whether it's legitimate, a possible smear campaign does come to mind though....
  13. I find this attitude strange. Humans have been around for thousands of years (maybe more) and capitalism is the best system for society. It's far from perfect but it works better then feudalism, or communism, or whatever else. I also doubt that you've decided to forgo capitalism completely, as I'm sure you enjoy its many benefits. I believe we are at the top of the food chain, and have conquered nature (to a degree). As said in the other topic I believe intelligence is a physical trait such as claws and teeth which has allowed us to prosper. The bigger question is whether or not our domination over nature is a good things, and in many ways it isn't, with the generally terrible way we treat our planet. Anyone who's debated with me about global warming will know I'm unconvinced as to its legitimacy, but I think it's painfully obvious we're treating the earth terribly regardless of whether temperatures are rising or not.
  14. Fair enough. Just fyi in case you wanted to change your mind :P @purepure...I'm just too lazy to work out :P
  15. I don't think it's "more ethical" but the reasoning is obvious, since as you said, "it isn't real meat".
  16. Yes, and many who wouldn't. I think you give humans no credit whatsoever. With our intelligence, we can figure out how to gather food, create rudimentary weapons, and even find our way out of a large forest. Yes, some people wouldn't handle it well. Some would probably be okay.
  17. I agree, but you're ignoring intelligence as a natural factor in survival. Since intelligence is a natural factor in survival, it should be included. As we used our intelligence rather than our physical assets to survive, what our intelligence created should be allowed. Intelligence is a factor but it is not your intelligence leading to your survival if you are using items created by others. Heck even with all the tech in the world if you personally were to be plonked down in the middle of nowhere in the sahara or the amazon or the african wilderness you would undoubtedly die despite the tech and intelligence. Unless you happen to be a survival specialist and even then you are not beating nature you are relying upon it; assuming of course you don;t get killed by an predator while you sleep or run out of tech to fend them off. Undoubtedly die? Unlikely...you may well die but I'd say its far from certain (except in the sahara, and most animals would die too). Intelligence also allows you to use items, not just create them.
  18. Yeah that was gross. :(
  19. I agree, but you're ignoring intelligence as a natural factor in survival. Since intelligence is a natural factor in survival, it should be included. As we used our intelligence rather than our physical assets to survive, what our intelligence created should be allowed.
  20. Great work as always!
  21. We're at the top of the food chain, our technology is far more advanced than that of any other living organism, and we have the ability to [bleep] up the world on such a great magnitude. Sounds an awful lot like we have overthrown nature - for the time being at least, because you are right about the ultimate entropy thing. At the time being, humans hold the largest influence on the world. Whether it was deserved or not is another story. And also, no matter how efficient or well-planned-out we are, we're still all going to die. Of course we could elongate our stay, but you can't really blame humans for their inevitable demise. Taking an opportunity and working with it however you possibly can is a key element of humanity, and when possibility doesn't allow it, nature has taken its title back. We're not there yet. Right now we're alive and kicking. While the point us being top may be true it has huge flaws. We msot definitely do not have control over nature that is why every year natural disasters kill so many people. I mean for all our technology we cant stop or even that accurately predict volcanoes, tornadoes, wild fire, earthquakes, tsunami etc. Equally human arguably are not the top of the food chain, strip us back to JUST humans without all our technology and most predators would easily best us, heck heaps of predators can easily best us even with our tech. Which is why we developed our technology: because we needed it to survive. Saying that humans wouldn't be at the top of the food chain is unfair. Strip other animals of their claws and teeth, then compare.
  22. I do find it odd how people are so insistent on criticizing the "war crimes" of NATO forces in Iraq and Afghanistan but when the opponents being fought are doing far worse.
  23. Same topic here just a few months back, feel free to bump it if you wish. http://forum.tip.it/topic/276937-best-celeb-caller/page__st__40 Locked.
  24. I dont think you are.... Same...you should really get that looked at lol.
  25. Great movie. The timing suck, though  Indeed. Favorite comedy for me, easily. Saw Harry Potter last night. It was about what I expected, though I think they didn't leave out quite as much important stuff as they did in the previous films. I'm very glad it's two films, they would have butchered it had it been compacted into one.
