Cross platform GUI programming
Java is far better for simple cross platform programming than C++ is from what I understand. You write the same code in Java, and the JVM will convert it into whatever the OS demands(basically).

The Obligatory Ice Hockey Thread
I don't agree there - as you said Peckham might get suspended...for what, a little revenge that probably didn't even work? Leafs vs. Rangers, Oct 15. Avery takes two baseball bat swings at Mike Komisarek's ankles. No retaliation, Avery got a 2 min (should have been a game suspension but w/e) and the leafs get a 3 on 5. A lot more productive then a suspension methinks.

Going after avery is the right thing? Avery's job is to get people to go after him and take stupid penalties. Teams that ignore Avery do better, since he ends up taking the stupid penalties.

No problem - you don't need to request it be closed once it's solved, it should die out itself :)

You can check by going to the "about" page. It looks like your browser is in fact clearing all cookies when you close it. If you don't have that third box checked I don't know why that would be the case though...

Try on firefox and/or IE. Also, close all chrome windows, then open the browser (without going to forum.tip.it) check the cookies again and print screen it. Also, make sure you have the latest version of chrome(7.0.517.44 I believe).

[TF2] It's MANN Vs. Machine!
I'm ok with the huntsman. Can't use the rifle for the life of me though. EDIT: I wouldn't play soldier first, I'd go pyro. Pyro sucks with decent players but it's probably the easiest class to use in a pub.

The content settings page. It is setting the correct cookies so you don't have them disabled. My guess is that you have it set to delete all cookies when you close the browser. (last checkbox)

Hey, I've moved your topic to the website discussion forum, as you'll get better feedback here.

[CLOSE PLEASE]Remember Me Doesn't Work?
Wrench -> options -> Under the hood -> Show cookies and other site data. Search forum.tip.it and screen what pops up. Also, every box/option should be unchecked on that page except the first.

The Obligatory Ice Hockey Thread
I agree in that the AHL could teach him a lot, but talent-wise he's certainly a lot better than several current players. Game last night was decent, that 4th goal was brutal though. Luongo's game though really, after Grabovski's goal he just decided to take over.

Lol let's put it this way. I don't think you can get better dollar value out of a video game ever.

Chinese workers build 15-story hotel...in just six days.
That number is almost certainly lowball. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/02/chinas-debt-to-us-treasury-more-than-indicated/ I didn't (and do not) mean that they would "own" the USA in the sense of direct control over government, but once regulations are removed, and the public sector is painfully disemboweled and fed to private industry, what's to stop China from slowly controlling the market? (I'm not saying that this would necessarily be a bad thing, just that it is a sign of increasing Chinese importance on the world stage.) At the same time, the states owns a large amount of Chinese debt. And go to war? It wouldn't happen. Firstly, the states could never win a war against china short of a nuclear strike (same goes for many countries, such as Iran) and they won't do that. Not to mention that if they cut off one of their biggest importers/exporters/holders of their debt you'd see huge repercussions economically.

A problem with the height of the sidebars on my website.
Yeah that was my thought with it as well :?

DK + VR vs TT + PH + CD
Judging by the fact that this "war" was quite the mess it's impossible to see a clear victor. Couple that with the fact that this topic has basically been a spam/flamefest I'm locking it. Grats on your win, whoever won.

You could try using min-height: http://www.w3schools.com/CSS/pr_dim_min-height.asp And it's "your", not "you're".

Who would be the "right" coach for the leafs? I've also never seen Phaneuf as better than Kaberle, but that's not including his supposed "motivaion" as a captain. Ps. They brought up Khadri...should be interesting. Doubt it'll help much.

Chinese workers build 15-story hotel...in just six days.
This. While a six day build time is quite quick, it's not unheard of. When you consider that the construction was likely done as a publicity stunt, there is nothing really unusual here. This. If they'd built that as they normally did the construction time would be comparable to that of other countries. And china a world power? Not any time soon. The one child policy has effectively screwed them for the future as they're going to face massive aging and a plummeting population. Which is what they intended to achieve with the policy in the first place. Also what you are saying is a worldwide phenomenon, the growth rates of populations are shrinking as well as the old living longer. I would say this is more of an issue in Germany then in China You're correct in saying that it is an issue mostly everywhere - but it will be worse in China then it will be anywhere else. Germany has some immigration, China, not so much. Also, the one child policy accelerates the decline. I don't think people realize just how serious this is - the economy requires a certain demographic structure to function properly - increasingly many countries are becoming top-heavy age wise which has the potential to collapse the economy completely as the workforce shrinks but the dependents multiply. I was going to post a topic about this anyway, got it half done but forgot about it...maybe in a few days.
