Mather, to answer your first question, they are making discoveries because they are actually trying to advance their storylines. I tried to coax you into doing the same, but your first thought upon entering the deliberately towering and ominous city was "Let's go to the magic store and stare at wands for half an hour". This is the problem. Why would you need that much weaponry, primarily being a research AI. That would mean coming on missions to do things like hacking, analysis and support, not going Rambo and taking on an army by yourself. If you were actually going to do something useful/appropriate, then the resources would be yours, but I cannot fathom why you would need 4 quad barrelled AP beams, 2 ion cannons, stealthing, and gas dispensers. Well, okay, stealthing, maybe, but the rest is excessive. Earth, how, exactly would that work? As far as I know, we don't yet have the technology to convert energy into mass.

Mather, Earth is on an avatar release spree to try to stop the apocalypse... Everyone is basically on the same storyline at this point, which is "Stop the apocalypse"
