  1. I'm giving tonight a miss. It's been a pretty long day and I'm not really feeling up to running a session. I'll make up for it with an extra hour on wednesday.

  3. Errr... No. You've just been shot in the ankle, and why in the world anybody would let a sword toting person near them in that situation is beyond me. You're on the floor, about 5 meters away, and bleeding heavily.
  4. No, he would likely panic and shoot you several more times as self defence instinct kicks in, and at that point even if you did get the gun and incapacitate a criminal, you have two to three bullet wounds in your chest. If you aren't dead, you're going to have some serious problems.
  5. I'm fairly certain that is a terrible plan of action. Going all "Macho action hero" in real life gets people killed.
  6. Resistance, if nobody answers you, the answer should probably just be assumed as a no, since people obviously aren't interested. Quoting and requoting can get annoying, as it makes you out to be pestering people.

    At the moment we have 2,500kT of resoucres. Our current production rate, at 5 mining ships, is something like 5 per minute, or 300 per hour. This figure needs to be increased to roughly 1200 per hour if we are to have any hope of getting this done in an elegent fashion. This means we require 15 more mining ships, which would cost 2700kT, which we clearly do not have. We only have the resources spare to build 3 mining ships, only 1/5 of what we need. Therefore, my proposed solution is that we put up to 1/2 of the people into stasis, reducing our requirements to 10 mining ships, and the cost of living to 1000kT temporarily. This means we can afford 9 standard mining ships, putting our resources production up to 840kT/hour. At this point, we can take the rest of the people out of stasis and fabricate the remaining mining ships, because we will have far and away enough to support them. If a more efficient mining ship design (EG, Drake's post) can be found, these numbers will be less consequential, obviously. After that, we may want to look into the Machina Ex Viscus solution.

  12. I'm still not going to be giving xp to completely inane things, and modifiers will still be applied that aren't based on level. It's basically a way for me to standardise the system, and while bias still plays a role, it cannot completely sway the flow of the game now. Also, Nex, I'm like 90% sure that your description leads to chaotic neutral, possibly chaotic good, probably not true neutral. Still, the alignment system isn't a good way to judge things. Easier to let actions speak for themselves.
  13. Since it's fairly simple to convert stats back and forth, I'm going to try this system out for a session. Your level remains the same, but the decimal should be converted to a percentage. That's pretty much it. When you perform an action, you'll get an amount of xp between 1 and 100. Add this to your percentage, and when it reaches 100, you advance to the next level. The modifiers will reduce the average xp you get at higher levels, so expect 0 xp to come up fairly often at higher levels (30+), but it gets rid of the power creep problem, in that you no longer have to create seven castles, kill a dragon and cure the worlds diseases to gain any xp at higher levels. Modifiers will be reduced or increased at some points, arbitrarily, to stop it from being totally cold and emotionless. Is this alright?

    Nex, I think our priorities should be set on finding a way to stop those black holes, or there wont be a Sol left to turn into anything. I have no idea how we are going to keep all of those people alive. We barely have the resources. To produce 2000kT a month, based on 2 hour sessions, we'll need 20+ mining ships. If we buy 20+ mining ships, we don't have the resources to keep people alive for that month. Mining will likely be dangerous due to Russian renegades or aliens, so we'll need to stay on the outer reaches for now. I think stasis could very well be an option at this point. Not like the Eden Halo stasis, but true stasis, of course. The other option I can think of is transferring the minds of the masses to a computer and then, when resources are available, putting them into the robotic body I designed last session. I'm probably not the best person to ask about humanitarian options, because, as stated above, the best option I can think of is "Turn them all into robots.". I would question the arbitrary value placed on ones humanity, but I know that road leads to massive backlash from the populace. tl;dr, Stasis is a very good option for the first few months at least, until we have the facilities to maintain 200,000 people.
  15. As has been pointed out before, it has some fairly deep rooted issues, and my judgement, however much I try to prevent it, will always be biased in some form. Randomisation will prevent this from happening. This also requires me to inflate it a 1-100 instead of a .1-1 system, because a random system wont work very well with only 10 values.

  17. No, it would mean that actions get a number of experience points that is 1-100, then applying reductions depending on level.
  18. Well, I was basically thinking that instead of a decimal xp system, I would start using a 1-100 xp system. So to get to level 2 from level 1, you need 100 xp. Simple enough. As it turns out, it only took me like 10 minutes to get the skeleton down. The program lets me generate a 1-100 result, and then apply deductions based on level. So if you're level 10, you would get a -30 to the xp gained.
  19. Actually, there is a dwarf race. Also, I'm thinking of mixing up the xp system again with the help of a program I'm writing. More information when it's finished, which shouldn't take too long.

  21. 1. Crystals are removed from the white rock and stored elsewhere for the time being. 2. The wood scraps from the failed plank cutting are used in the fire experiments. 3. 6 units of wood are cut into planks.
  22. REVISED ACTIONS 1. Another team is sent to gather the white stone, as well as any regular stone found along the way 2. Another 8 units of wood are split into planks. 3. The bird pen is relocated away from sleeping areas and pens are built within it. 4. The yellow fruit seeds are tended to (Can I consider this a running actions, so I don't need to use an action on it every day?) 5. Flint and leftover wood shavings from the plank making is use to try to make fire. 6. The crystal inside the white stone is examined for any odd properties, hardness, average size, etc. 7. More raised food storage sheds are built. 3 actions banked
