How tall are you again Saq?
-
I am sorry to hear that actually. It is unfortunate you've had a s***ty experience with the Reserves. I want to join because I believe they don't get enough support in terms of manpower in my opinion. As I assume you've retired from the Reserves, what rank where you discharged as? Wow, I hope that isn't the case. I've had no issues, but am in Canada. All I've found is people who are quite helpful and nice to work with. As well as getting paid promptly every time.

Nice, that's what I did myself excepting it being the CAF of course. So far so good. Ahh I am pleased someone else has taken the same path. What do typical days in service structured like? The A.D.F. demands one weekend a month to be dedicated to the Reserve; side from Christian holidays. For now I am just waiting around more or less until the Summer when I go on course. Typically we do one night a week, just some light training covering some lectures or skills we can do in the area we have. A weekend usually means going out to the range or bush for either tactical exercises or firing exercises, although usually the first. Otherwise they might run a few courses spread over weekends or whatnot.

Muggi, don't worry about her not texting you. We all know that you won fair and square with that last message. P.S. I know you aren't worried. Take it a supporting sarcasm

Well my new conversation starter I thought of today was my irrational fear of school buses.
-
Yeah, I think you've lost out on that one. Though surprises do happen...
-
So? When is the date?

Saq, most people would use the word pretty, beautiful, or another describer besides hot when talking about relatives. The use of "pretty [bleep]ing hot" followed by the admission of thinking that way is wrong was, what I assume, most people picked up on.

I'm aware, constituency is an awful word though. In North American English, people tend to pronounce the second and third syllables as some bastardisation of stitch and chew, and it sounds awful. FPTP may work now to keep out 'extremist' parties, but it also could allow them in with far less than the majority of the vote. And I'd consider SNP a more extremist party than UKIP. UKIP is not too far to the right of the Tories, which makes it amusing you'd call them a party of morons. The closer something is to your own beliefs the easier it is to ridicule it and pick out major differences from the small ones which exist.

The downside is that corporations could care less about global warming or whatever issue you may take to heart. A corporation exists solely for the purpose of making money for its shareholders, which are actually more than likely another corporation. Going back to the global warming thought here, a corporation making a donation as a 'person' to a politician means that they are now 'owed' by the politician. So sometime down the line due to this debt the corporation will get away with dumping toxic waste in a stream, or polluting the air more than allowed. Even more so say a recession hits, all of a sudden GM gets billions in bailouts so it can stay afloat. Good RL example that isn't hypothetical would the the BP oil spill. If I am thinking correctly that had something along the lines of a billion dollars in environmental damage and clean up fees reduced down to something negligible. This is due to corporations counting as 'people' and being able to lobby politicians.

American politics. Two parties, two people. You vote for one or the other based upon which party they represent and their values because of that. One with most votes wins. Beyond that I can only say that each state has nearly as much power within it as the federal system does upon the country.

Reach for the Top :P. But seriously, I don't play any sports. Actually, I really should be in much better shape than I am, but I haven't reached useless blob level or anything yet. Sounds like so solid advice, so thank you there. I'm working on the whole explore hobbies and interests things along with the life experiences bit already although I should be a bit more out there. What concerns you?Idk just put some effort into being close to someoneThis is honestly something I would mark as a big problem. I'm not sure what it is, if I just haven't found the right clique or if I haven't put myself out there enough or what. But I have friends and whatnot but I wouldn't say I'm overly close to any of them and I hardly hang out with them. I might just have an over hollywooded view of how highschool is supposed to go and what not but I hardly spend time with any of my friends outside of school except for the rare occasion. I might just discount that to my friends also just doing this but I am always hearing stories about them hanging out with other friends on weekends and stuff which I never get invited to. In reality I might just have more 'deep seated' issues on this front, or as always I am just overthinking a very simple concept and should just put myself out there more and this wouldn't be an issue. *shrugs*

What concerns you?

Hahahaha..... Social group is relatively small/non-existent. I'm not sure if you would get what I say when I'm a floater. I can hang out with the smart kids and fit in, I can hang out with the 'cool(ish)' kids and fit in, etc... I'm not really overly pushed into a corner on this front because I can make a spot for myself when needed, and am perfectly fine being on my own if I need to. Although any of the people I am currently interested in fit into a closer social group and I'm generally on speaking terms. Not sure if I would call them 'friends' though. Not sure about this one. I can be really introspective as to how I act by times and what my personality can be like but when it comes to outward style and stereotype I am really and truly clueless.

Wow, Muggi's post actually touched on my concerns more or less perfectly. Along with Hedge's short post there. I suppose I should attempt to 'man up' and take some action. Going to have to exit my nice a freaking soft comfort zone at some point...
