  1. Turmoil is still very good, increasing your max hit by around 17% I believe. One of the best auras now is Penance, due to how often you get hit and how much damage you take. With Penance and Soul Split it's almost possible to maintain near full LP and prayer points when bossing. I'm not too sure about Chaotics at the moment as Player Owned Ports are just around the corner, so I'd advise holding on to your tokens for now.
  2. From my experience in barrow runs, Torag's effect does indeed drain your adrenaline. Karil is still draining agaility and Ahrim is still draining strength, and I have no idea how those work with their dual wields. there's enough rings in game (it's been a common drop for years) and it's rare for rings to be removed from game, so it doesn't really matter how many rings are coming in. I did 1 trio kill with gano and PPS just for fun, easier for sure. what are the optimal tactics for nex now? Optimal setups seem to cater to magic damage now, using virtus with mwand (air surge) + arcane and switching to staff (soa if using abs) for increased damage during blood phase. Reavers during blood phase get picked off by royal xbow/dual ccbow. It's better to use weapons that are 2h. Your max hit with the bronze dagger is greatly, greatly skewed by your 99 strength, and if you compared for instance vine whip versus godswords, you'd see that the godswords turn out a much higher max hit with abilities.
  3. Melee-weak monsters usually use ranged attacks. Won't the addition of Batwing boots to your set skew your effective defense modifiers and result in less ranged defense than before?
  4. They retain the same stats regardless of degrade state. Apparently Demoli tested out crystal shields and they don't seem to degrade at all at the moment.
  5. I more of meant having already used so much crystal that the cost would be reduced :P I imagine that crystal shields would degrade much more quickly too now since you seem to get hit much more often than in the pre-EOC game, and hence starting the degrade cycle now would be much more costly.
  6. Lmao, well done on your inspiring cruise. Welcome back to the hive :)
  7. Classic, solid gold stuff. It sounds very sweet. badumchh The kitty in your avatar can make the cake! Unfortunately, Mr. Kitterson has never proceeded past the kneading dough stage of baking.
  8. If you're looking for a cheaper tier 70 shield, consider getting the Blessed spirit shield (melee) instead of the Bandos warshield. Crystal shields count as magic shields at tier 70, though a ward may be preferable if you haven't decreased the repair cost all the way to 150k yet.
  9. Karil's crossbow - tier 70 2h ranged weapon. Highest raw damage at tier 70. Sagaie - tier 72 1h thrown weapon. Crystal bow - tier 70 2h ranged weapon. Slightly less damage than Karil's crossbow but faster.
  10. Scoring a critical on an ability attack automatically hits your max hit with that ability. Crits on autoattacks are also 1.5x damage aren't they?
  11. Tomorrow doesn't necessarily get better, especially if you've been told you only have 24 hours to live. Well, debatably so. TNPW describe how they'd like to leave this world.
  12. Double post but did some testing. Used Slice and Punish to get "maximum" weapon damage hits. With dragon claw, dragon dagger or Tzhaar-ket-em (all 675 damage on equip interface) Max hit with Punish (100%): 674 Max hit with Slice (125%): 842 With dragon longsword (834 damage but Fast speed) Max hit with Punish (100%): 666 Max hit with Slice (125%): 832 With dragon halberd (1470 damage but Average speed and 2h bonus) Max hit with Punish (100%): 969 Max hit with Slice (125%): 1212 Did some rapier criticals to test cross-tier damage (1079 damage but Fast speed) Max hit with Punish (100%): 867 Max hit with Slice (125%): 1077 Max hit with Punish + Stun (135%): 1164 Max hit with Assault (219%): 1888 From the results it appears that there's some kind of speed penalty that gets applied when using abilities, so that abilities from either a fastest weapon (scimitars etc.) or an average weapon (battleaxe, warhammer) would end up having the same "weapon damage" for the purpose of calculating ability damage. However, melee abilities in these cases still benefit from the 2h boost, meaning that abilities triggered while using a 2h weapon get a bonus applied to that tier's "weapon damage". I then tested overloads and turmoil again, using a Dragon claw (675 base damage, reported 692 base damage with overloads). Max hit with Punish (100%): 674 Max hit with Slice (125%): 842 Added Turmoil: Max hit with Punish (100%): 800 Max hit with Slice (125%): 1000 Added Overload: Max hit with Punish (100%): 828 Max hit with Slice (125%): 1000 Added Turmoil and Overload: Max hit with Punish (100%): 956 Max hit with Slice (125%): 1162 Appears from these readings that Turmoil and Overload give roughly the same boost (+18% damage, unsure about overload punish result though) and that the boost is multiplicative.
  13. Except at the end he comes back regardless of what you actually decide. Does he because... [spoiler=Quest spolier ahead]during RotM he only appears at the ceremony if you resurrected him during his quest. [hide]In Zemouregal's notes he mentions that either an adventurer (if you sided with the cult) or the cultists (if you sided with Carnellian) have resurrected Hazeel. I suppose Paul just forgot about this when he wrote RotM.[/hide]
  14. I think in one of the big combat FAQs they mentioned that crits were max hit on ability and 1.5x damage on autoattacks, but knowing Jagex the figure they gave could be way off anyway. I also noticed that strange thing when testing crits on abilities with rapier/maul - my 100% damage ability seemed to max out below my rapier/maul's max hit. Maybe it's some kind of compensatory effect for weapon speed?
  15. Add 80 to Fire Surge (since it's a capped at tier 80 spell) to simulate the intended tier damage. Multiply this by 2.25 to account for speed bonus and 2h bonus. Next, add 80 to Chaotic maul's 1828 damage. These are the same. Of course, if you're 99 Magic/Strength, the actual damage you'll get from these will be different (Fire Surge will come ahead slightly). Interesting it looks like Polypore Strike/Ice Barrage are tiered above 80 in terms of damage. Or it might just be a typo. ----------------- I just tested Turmoil on training dummies in Lumbridge using criticals. It appears from quick testing that Turmoil adds about 18% more damage to all attacks.
  16. That's because runite is tier 50 and royal xbow is tier 80, so you *should* be expecting a 1.6x increase in XP rates lol. I'm pretty convinced that dual wielding is a better choice than 2h for momentum on slayer tasks, since there's much less overkill loss to be had. Only issue might be transitioning from monster to monster. Critical hits are 50% more damage for autoattacks, but when they trigger on abilities they just hit the ability's maximum hit. Finally, I believe autoattacks from staves hit 2.25x as much as those cast from a wand, not 2x. I think spell damage is bugged... again. I'm hitting 513 with Wind strike with a staff and the interface is saying my max is 147. And I was hitting 1,772 with Fire Blast, lol. And they weren't critical hits. When you've got an autocast spell set the interface only shows the base spell damage, I believe. This doesn't take into account the base damage of your magic level or the damage boost from staves/damage penalty from dual wielding.
  17. He's SwiftKit staff, pretty sure he's not going anywhere :D
  18. Hardest decision of my questing career - Phoenix or Blackarm?

  20. The way they restatted armour means that magic armour gives more defence against melee attacks than melee armour. So yeah, you could wear magic armour to get better defense against melee attacks, at the cost of accuracy to ranged/melee attacks of your own if you wear body/leg armour or shields.
  21. Found something interesting with dual wielding. Because the game for whatever reason won't let two attacks land at the same time, then if you're dual wielding a Fastest offhand (4) and Fast mainhand (5) weapon the offhand actually has to slow down to match pace with the mainhand, effectively becoming a Fast weapon. Interestingly this means that EEE, the best offhand weapon (tier 89 damage), becomes worse when used with a CLS. This also means that Vine Whip + EEE gives .3% better raw DPS than dual CLS. lol.
  22. Soul Split. Purple everywhere on my curse book damnit.
  23. Rainy, dreary and a good day for sleeping right through. If you mean yesterdays in general, they're typically days that are worth forgetting. TNPW be optimistic.
  24. I just momentum everything now, really. Had some fun with ability rolling but my fingers have called it quits, save it for real PvE instead.
