Price manipulation is undetectable, and impossible to define. If some people want to appropriate themselves the monopoly of an entire ressource, that's their right, just like you can go onto the GE and buy whichever item you want in whichever quantity within the limits. By having the monopoly on the ressource, they control the price, they create rarity and they resell for a profit. It's simply how the economy works: when you have the monopoly over an item, you control its price. Just like diamonds inrl: they are much more common than people think they are, the companies who own the diamonds vault them to create artificial rarity. The thing is, they're absolutely in their right to buy as many diamonds they want, and do whatever they wish with them, sell them, vault them, eat them, it's their diamonds. To try to prevent price manipulation is like trying to prevent a natural phenomenom from happening, like the planet from rotating: manipulation simply happens in a normal economy. Take oil for instance, it is blatantly manipulated, we all know it is, and even if there are cute little laws saying that's illegal, that's not how it works. Accuse these oil companies, what do think they will say? "We just happened to put the oil at the same price as the other companies, that's all". To prove that manipulation is happening, you need proof of rendezvous, secret phone calls or meetings in which they decide upon a price. No one in law enforcement is crazy enough, or has enough free time to play the spy and try to bust these cartels. Really, just keep playing the damn game, and making the right choices when it comes down to what you buy. Things will always be manipulated, you just don't have to buy into it.

Nobody's forcing you to buy your bulls eyes lantern at the GE. You could just make it yourself like in the "old times". Meanwhile, other people who don't like wasting time on that will buy it, wether you like it or not it's not your business what other people do.

Two(both 85M ones) of the new shields will definitively be better than the dfs in some situations. But lets make simple math here. DFS = 17M New shield = 85M Which one do you think I'm going to take? :twss: Especially in highrisk situations. Lose 17M or lose 85M? I'm telling you right now: at the price these shields are, they're luxury. DFS is what we're talking about if you want to get the job done.

It's better to switch fish depending on which level you are, and if you have cooking gloves, going for the highest you can cook without burning. For instance: lobs => swordfish => monkfish => sharks. There's also ways to get 99 cooking for dirt cheap, so don't jump on the monkfish trigger yet. Look at the price differences between cooked and raw fish, and you can figure out some pretty cheap ways. Even longer cheaper ways aren't too bad, the people at rogues den are usually good conversation so it goes faster.

Price manipulation is part of the economy just like everything else. Often people are frustrated with money, both inrl and in RS, because they don't understand how to make the system work in their favour. There's people who work for money, and there's people who make money work for them. Most people work for money, work a lot for a little amount of money, then they get frustrated because they can't afford what they want. Then they blame whoever is making money work for them. "Omg I hate investors, they don't waste hours upon hours like me in working for little pay!". Thing is, the investors aren't to blame, investors understand how the economy work and they make it work in their favour. The investors aren't making you be poor and unhappy, YOU are making YOURSELF poor and unhappy by not knowing how to make the economy work in your favour. The investors can't make you be good at money for you, only YOU can make yourself be good at it. Blaming them for all your problems is nonsense. In a world with no stupid people, everyone would prosper equally because they'd be no one to fall into the traps of the "dark" investors. Investors aren't responsible squat for you picking flax during a month, then your favourite item [bleep]es in price and you can't buy it, and you end up buying something else you didn't really want. They aren't the ones making you do something stupid like fishing lobs or picking flax, you are doing that to yourself. So stop being the victim, stop whining about investors ruining your day and start making money work for you. You can't make the economy change: Runescape is just like any other capitalist economy. People who don't understand how the economy works have it coming at them, that's basically unavoidable when you're stupid. At the end of the day the stupid masses lose, and the investors win, it's one of those situations in which you either eat, or are eaten. Many many people act like MARTYRS: They understand whats going on, they have the intelligence to be good at managing money but refuse to exploit the system in their favour because of some misplaced sense of melodrama I don't know what. It's not morally wrong : thats how the system works. It's either capitalism or communism, so stop whining. And for god sakes, leave the morally wrong for poor little african kids being murdered inrl, just the fact RS is a GAME makes any morally wrong argument mean squat. Nobodys being forced to do anything.

If the drop rates are decent, these shields won't stay 85M and 65M for very long. Hopefully they'll become cheaper alternatives to the dfs. They're not as good as the dfs, so they can't go higher than it unless jagex made it ridiculously rare "showoff" stuff like 3rd age, which would suck for people who don't spend 10 hours a day trying to make gp.

Omg, amazing shields o___O You know when people say that jagex can't release new uber weapons because we only have 99 hitpoints, and will never have any more, that's actually a silly flaw in logic. While hitpoints can't change, armor on the other hand, can improve, making it so that you get hit less, hence you can introduce those uber weapons.

At some point when you buy something you have to stop worrying about possible price drops. Either you want the object, in which case you will never sell it, so whichever price drop is of no importance. Either you don't want it, then you have no business buying it in the first place.

Are the new shields good?

So here on this thread we have lots of people saying they are proud of their virtual characters. You're proud, ok. But why are you proud of that? Considering past threads, most of tip.it has never said to anyone inrl that they play Runescape out of fear of being stereotyped. It seems quite contradictory to be so proud of something you don't even dare to talk about to other people. Interesting, that seems like the exact opposite of what someone proud of something would do. That seems like what someone ashamed of what they're doing would do, someone addicted. Say you're proud all you want, I don't believe you.

In pest control you can gather those monsters that explode, then do the special to kill them all and create a big bomb that kills everyone around :twss:

I have both 99 cook and 99 fletch, and cooking was a lot easier. Some expensive skills have very high exp rates, but you have to take in consideration the money it costs: that money won't just make itself, it factors in the difficulty. Thus, overall, cooking.

Well, although its an image on screen, doesnt make it un-important. Runescape is an online game, it's not and never was anything important. To put it on the same pedestal as a masterpiece is a fallacious premise. You say Runescape are pixels is the same as -> A masterpiece is just paint, a masterpiece is more than just paint thus Runescape is more than just pixels. That's your premise. Thing is, Runescape is nothing comparable to a masterpiece. It is an image on screen, period. You're not killing monsters, you're sitting on a chair. Bit off topic, to come back to the subject at hand: If the pixels become actual burdens, you get rid of them. Who in their right mind would continue to be burdened by it simply because strangers you will never meet, and that don't really care, will be impressed? That's insanity.

It's even worse in real life. You get mugged, agressed etc, and people never come to save you or even call the police. It's actually recommended to scream "Fire! fire! fire!" when you get attacked, because people are more likely to come out of their house if you say that than if you say you are being mugged because they don't want to get involved. To anyone who bothered testing it, you'd have seen ranged pvp in f2p is awful. Nobody uses it, as everyone roams in rune armor which has naturally good defence against ranged. And nobody uses mage either, the armor is pathetic and so are the spells. So basically, they need to give f2p mage and ranged a boost.
