08-Feb-10 - Musical Update & Strykewyrms
Wow, you guys are seriously messed up. For once, Jagex has released a great magic weapon, and what the RS comunity think?: "Now how can I use this for melee? Hmm."

Most of the time win I see Me_hate_libs post on the forums I get ready for a load of negative comments about Jagex. Well I did get the same reaction from the second times article. The thing is though, everything said was true. This feels like it could become the same crap Nintendo did with the Wii; leave your longtime fans behind and appeal to the masses.

So leveling Attack and Strength is a bad thing now? A warning for non-meleers
Yes, but this encompasses more then just pures on PvP worlds. This effects ranging and maging in Castle Wars, Fist of Guthix, Clan Wars and Stealing Creation.

So leveling Attack and Strength is a bad thing now? A warning for non-meleers
ITT: We talk about Turmoil, it's effects on the combat triangle, and how you choose to level your stats. Turmoil, every meleers dream prayer. But what does this prayer mean to rangers and mages? Nothing good I can tell you, but this is not about the combat triangle. This is about mages, and rangers who choose to level their melee stats. If you're a mage or ranger who's thinking of leveling your melee, I'm going to tell you now: Don't. The higher your attack and strength are when using mage or range, when you're fighting a meleer, the more chance he has of KO'ing you. All your attack and strength do is augment his ability's, wile not providing any help to your magic or range. So don't level melee stats, except for maybe defense is you're not a pure. It will only come back bite you. Also, meleers now need to think about how their melee stats are now working against them if they decide that they want to use range or mage in PvP. Happy Turmoil-ing!

Your whining about the lending system because people are begging you for your God Sword? How easy we forget the days before the trade limit, where low leveled players followed high levels around chanting "Free stuff pl0x!". Begging is nothing new. The only thing that's different now is the supposed "low levels with power they don't deserve".

No updates?
So we are entering "No update week" year 2?

Armadyl Guide
Void, why not? To weak? Do you think I can duo with my stats? They're leveled for this very purpose (lost mem before getting range higher). Am I ready, or do I need to spend more time in the cooker? (summon is 20k exp from bunny btw)

Alright, I give up. I need some help
Okay, I have tried everyone suggestions. None of them worked. So it has to be a bug in the beta. I guess I'll send a report to Mozzila. Thanks for the help!

I built my character around role playing when I first made it. I realized that there was no one really roleplaying when I was around level 20. :( 3 years later I saw the RP server and logged on to it, and was sad to see that no one was roleplaying.

Pest control
Until now, I have never, ever heard of using brawlers as a winning technique, despite having full void and having used PC to gain quite a few levels. I may have seen it once, but just once. Personally, I think brawlers should mostly be left alone because they aren't a big threat. Sometimes they can really get in the way to me though... The only people I really dislike at pc are the ones that tell you to kill the portal instead of the spinners. Now, I admit, occasionally there is a scenario where that is actually what you should do; if, say. you have half the people attacking the last portal and the knight has low hp. But, still....Some people don't realize the spinners are a threat. I think that if people lose on official worlds, its because of people not killing spinners, or not having enough defenders. Mainly. You must not play defense to often. 1 lured Brawler can block 25% or more of the pests attacks. with 3 brawlers, all you have to worry about is Shifters. Defilers and Torchers become completely harmless. A few times though I have asked players to help kill the Spinners, and they said they would not because they heal the gate which gives them better exp. Needless to say, we lost those rounds.

Alright, I give up. I need some help
Recently I have downloaded Firefox 3.6 beta 5. But I did not uninstall Firefox 3.5 when I did. Now it will not load past setting saved from sites. Like I have to type in my user name and password every time I come to Tip's forums. This only happens when I restart Firefox. If I just leave the site, then come back I'm logged in like I should be. Well so today I decided that I'm sick of having to go trough all of those redundant log ins, "first time visiting page", and certain page settings. So, I deleted all my cookies. That didn't work. I checked to make sure that all privacy settings were off. They were never on in the first place, but I still checked, and they were off. I checked every last browser setting. Nothing. So I figured that 3.6 beta could be a conflicting with 3.5. So I uninstalled 3.5. I lost all of my book marks (:(). All my plugins and all of my form history. And still nothing! I have just lost a very large amount useful things, and gained nothing. :( *kicks self for not making backups* All I can think of is that it's a problem with the registry, but I don't know how to resolve that if it is. tl;dr: Firefox seems to be having trouble saving cookies after I close it.

I want porkchops!
Then I would set up a cannon as a sentry and dominate the pigs, and say "Ha HA, makin' bacon". Cookies for the one who gets the reference.

wait wait, heavy armour mages?
Why push-back? I see that adding nothing. Know how useful the Zammy/D Spears special is? Yeah I though so. When you freeze then just walk back a few steps. No push-back necessary.

Ferocious Ring vs. Ring of Wealth
If the row decreases the chance of going back to the normal drop wheel from 75% to 60%, it does indeed decrease the chance of getting a normal drop. You also assume everything on the rare wheel is valuable here, but I believe stuff like rune javelins/silver ore (at abyssal demons for example) would also be on the rare wheel. And if your main objective is to get lots of drops from the normal wheel, for example addy bars at aviansies, you might want not to wear a row. I've camped there long enough to say that the drops I marked as green are very common, wile the drops marked in red I have never received. Now, I'm not sating that this makes these items non-rare, but I am implying it. So you're telling me. Addy bars are BETTER then Dragon spears? Shield left halfs and crystal keys? Even if you're planing on camping there for weeks, the Dragon Spear high alchemys for 37440gp which is just below it's market price. The Shield Left Half alchs for 66000gp, just 2k under its market price. Key loop halfs are junk, but the tooth half is 60k.

Ferocious Ring vs. Ring of Wealth
By increasing the odds of getting one drop, you therefore decrease the odds of another: your drop rates cannot add to over 100%. Flipping a coin is by chance: sometimes it is heads and sometimes it is tails. You would have me say it's impossible to calculate the odds of a coin landing on heads. That the change with ROW is so minuscule as to be unnoticeable speaks to why the ROW is crap. Okay now. I'll use some pictures for you. First you must "land" on a rare item "spot" *numbers are only representational, and not accurate* After which you get to the rare drop table: Notice how the only thing that deceases when you are wearing a RoW is your chance at not getting a rare item? The sides of a coin is a known value. There are only 2 sides. We do not know how many "sides" this RoW "coin" has. If we did, well then your argument would hold water. Yes. You obviously have much experience USING the RoW monster hunting, so you know WTF you are talking about. That is very clear. [/sarcasm] Your logic was also flawed. Essentially, you say the RoW works, but you don't know how, and you don't know what % it gives, and you don't know if its better or not. Thank you captain obvious. Do you even read what I post? You first say "you say the RoW works, but you don't know how". Yes, we DO know how it works. What we don't know is how big it's effect is. Then then you say "you don't know what % it gives, and you don't know if its better or not." Um, yes exactly. "Thank you captain obvious." Well, if look at some of the earlier posts. some people seemed to be ignoring the muddy waters surrounding the RoW. Source please? A past Q/A, a old twitter, a dead forum post? Even if you can't link to it (I understand that some information is lost.). Anything will sound a lot better then regurgitating an old rumor. Extensive testing? ROFL please. I've seen drop lists of the Wraith where the RoW increased the Elixir drop rate by 25%. I've even tested this myself, and you know what? It seemed to be true. But I don't believe it because it's all luck based. I assume by "extensive testing" you mean compiled drop lists. Well, have ALL NPCs been thoroughly tested with huge sample sizes, from reliable sources, under the same conditions? What I'm saying is, different types of NPCs could be effected more then others, and/or different drops may be affected to a greater extent.

So it's true. Jagex REALY does hate the magic skill
Great, so as it stands, magic is a nice support skill. Sadly, it's freezing effect took a nerf from the Deflect prayers. Deflect blocks 60% of attacks instead the 40% offered by Protect. Now you'll freeze 20% less often. Using magic to train summoning is not really combat related. Should I say that defense is OP because it helps in Runecrafting? HP in Agility? Strength in Fishing? Attack in wood cutting? Prayer in Thieving? Leave non-combat things out of the argument on combat. Of course magic can be used at GWD. I never said it could not, but you would have to be completely brain dead to think it's a good idea to do so, do to the low damage and high cost. Yes, all monsters have very high magic defense. It's quite fair singling out one combat style to be weak against everything, is it not? So all we have left is that magic can freeze people. Which is nice, but it's losing its effectiveness all the. 95 summoning just to boost my max hit by 2? Whoa stop the presses, this is huge! OR I could just use a much cheaper magic potion, that has no level requirement. Then I could summon something a bit more useful. Overloads? You do know that melee and range both have their own overload boosts? In fact their boosts are far greater then the one to magic. Especially since they nerfed the magic version to hell. Great, now deflect prayers also make range and melee 20% less effective, but magic is more important so it hurt that more... You magic exp will go so much faster at rock lobs while at the same time you get another combat skill up... which itself does little damage until 98 and 99. But you get added boost of the wolper which is equal to an extreme magic pot, cheaper than training herb for extra damage like melee and range have to do. It makes a whole lot of difference that it does so much out of combat as it does inside of combat. It's uses are everywhere. Range and Melee are there to kill things whereas mage just lets you kill/skill faster. Me and my friends often go to gwd and use mage because it is fun and you can still make money. It can be extremely useful at Sara because freezing the commander allows everyone to stay out of her melee range. Cost will be replaced by drops, and if you care about cost so much make your own runes or slay something that drops runes. People have to make their own ammo usually for range, it is just cheaper because so many more people do skills needed for range ammo. Not all monsters have very high magic def. There are many monsters that you can kill with mage easily, but as said, at a higher cost. Not only does it freeze people, but it hits multiple people. It gives you the power in multicombat whereas melee in multicombat will not stand a chance unless the mages are completely dumb. 92 summoning will boost magic the same as an extreme magic pot, not a normal one. Jagex just added this to make magic more powerful and people still don't care. You are talking about magic in a 1v1 standpoint in pvp, Mage vs Melee/Range. That is the only place I see magic as being underpowered. Your whole argument can be summarized as: (When certain conditions are met.) Magic really shines! It far out does it counter parts! However that's that flaw "When certain conditions are met". Let me put this simply: Is range useful against all enemies? Is melee useful against all enemies? Finally, is magic useful against all enemies? (By useful I mean profit>loss. Can be used in/on every boss, PvP (all forms) and all Slayer tasks without large loss.) The simple answers (respectively) are: Yes, yes and no. Magic is situational. It is only effective under certain conditions. There are so few places that melee is bad to use, that you can count them all on one hand. Same goes for range. Magic... well I could spend a good ten minutes compiling that list. I want to be able to mage Bloodvelds with out thinking "I'm going broke for no reason". I want to be able to use offensive spells is gwd with out losing an arm and a leg. I want to be able to enter clan wars and cast magic for fun without spending millions. I'm not asking for a low cost ice barrage, freeze or double your money back guaranteed. I'm asking for simple effective spells that are cheap. A better slayer dart? Prayers that give mages and rangers similar benefits to Piety (not OHK prayers, one click prayers that give great defense and mediocre offense). How can you say it's a good thing when melee is becoming more and more all encompassing, and magic is becoming more situational?

Ferocious Ring vs. Ring of Wealth
Here we go: http://forum.tip.it/topic/242175-ring-of-wealth-explained/ Read that very carefully now. Now you see it? FACT: The RoW does NOT make your chance for ANY drop decrease. It only INCREASES the chances of getting a rare. FACT: Bones and taxidermy items are NOT affected by the RoW. These items are on a drop table all on their own known as Monster Specific drops. FACT: Charms and Clue Scrolls are NOT affected by the RoW. These items are on a drop table all on their own known as Bonus drops. FACT: The RoW does NOTHING wile lootsharing. RUMOR: The Draconic Visage is not affected by the RoW, because it's on the bonus drop list. This entirely UNPROVEN and SOURCELESS. Hence the word "rumor". We can guess that monster drops are calculated on the moment of the monsters death. As such, you could possibly switch to your RoW before the killing blow, and still receive the increased drop rate as if you wore the RoW the whole fight. Saying that the effect of the RoW is extremely low is a baseless assumption. The way the RoW works is based on chance. So it's impossible to come up with a good way of calculating its effects on drops. Since you can not calculate it's effect on drops, you can not compare it to the Ferocious Ring which has a very visible effect. You can use basic math to come to the reasonable conclusion that the Ferocious Ring increases your number of kills per hour by X amount. Thus the added kills mean a higher potential for a better drop. But no matter what the higher potential received for using the Ferocious Ring is. There is no way to measure that increased potential against the unknown potential of the RoW. Thus this thread amounts to NOTHING but fools grasp of the unknown.

Ferocious Ring vs. Ring of Wealth
The point of saying that is...? Anyway, i'd stick with the Ferocious Ring myself. I never saw any increase in goodies while wearing a RoW. The point? The point is we know extremely little about the Ring of Wealth, and yet everyone is slinging about ideas as if they're fact. I could easily say that the Ring of Wealth is far better then the Ferocious Ring. It has a 30% chance increase for all rare drops! All we know as of now, is that the RoW increases your chances for a rare drop, small drops are not effected, and clues are set apart from both normal and rare drops into their own category. Anything else said about the RoW is complete and utter Jarate.

Pest control
As soon as you tell someone to [bleep] off and call them a noob your perspective is lost you've just stooped to a new level. They have no right to accuse me of losing a game, or to even call me names. no one does. Sorry if I worded that accusingly. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm not saying they're wrong. This is just one of those cases where people are doing things slightly different from one another, and they rub each other the wrong way. Use your ignore list for people who are harassing you. How do you know what level I have stooped to before anyway? :P

Pest control
Did you ever look at it from their prospective? If you're playing bad, you're ruining it for them. Though, you do have a point, they're ruining it for you with complaining. Turn public chat off. Problem solved.
