  1. For the umpteenth time... bots are NOT a problem unique to RS or Jagex, and the solution to them is already well-known: CAPTCHAs. Jagex will show it is serious about botting when it deals with them on a systemic basis. So far I see nothing in that regard. In fairness, this has occurred because we all whined about randoms and they drastically cut them down, but they've gone too far. We need simple, short puzzles/randoms that appear to stop bots without wasting 1-5 minutes of real players' time. Not Leo the gravedigger, just simple CAPTCHAs will do, and they are not hard to implement at all. RS Classic had proper CAPTCHAs, diddn't it? Like with the fatigue system? Idk, I never played classic and I have no idea if it actually worked.
  2. lol, this isn't a serious thread, I half expect it to be locked anyway tbh. I was actually dared to post it XD. No need fo discussion here unless you want to talk about star wars cosplaying, which generally isn't a very nice topic as illustrated by said picture. Well that goes for cosplaying in general, really.
  3. Why can't I unsee, ah, I shouldn't be so evil, I'll turn the image into a link.
  4. Vader: "I... am your father" WARNING Luke: "No... NO... it's not true! that's IMPOSSIBLE!" Vader: "Search your feelings, you know it to be true!" Luke: "No! No!"
  5. That's the point XD I love retro game soundtracks.
  6. I'm sorry, but that's just not a good way. Have you ever tried tele-othering them? That's honestly the best way to do it. I mean, I've been mining rune ore for an hour already today, and on about 10-11 worlds people were there saying "is rune ore good money????" I don't respond, not because I'm botting of course, but because, let's face it, I mine rune for epic money. I don't want to have conversations with these people, so most times I just ignore them (since I only stay on each world for like.... 30 seconds) however if a rock takes a long time I might say "yh." Of course then they all ask a thousand more questions. Anyways, my point is on some worlds with really long rock mining times, some wbm's were camping rune rocks trying to find botters, and they traded me etc saying "bot?" "bot?" "bot?" I didn't respond, I'm not going to give into them like that. They most likely reported me, but since I wasn't botting I don't have anything to fear. And once again, I don't support botters. I'm just playing the devil's advocate, because people like Langer make me rage, and it's not that they hate botting, its that they won't stop ranting about botters. Non stop, I mean I do understand you have the right to make rant topics, but do you guys really think ranting will make Jagflex do anything... Teleother only works on newbie botters, even then, I know that botting forums openly advise to turn accept aid off. I tested the tele-other method at chaos tunnel green drags, the spell itself only worked on a few bots, and out of the ones it worked on, only one was tripped up. If the bot programmers are capable of circumventing every random event, I'm pretty sure they have figure out how to deal with a tele-other. All you have to say is '?' or something similar and they'll be off your case, not responding is lazy and arrogant. You'll find that most players have the courtesy to respond. btw, talking does not mean "bot?" "bot?" "bot?", it's something less annoying like "Please reply", "Can I ask something" <proceeding asking a question> or maybe something that will make them want to brag like "mining level?". Emotes work quite well too if you want to grab attention. True that if you're a lower level attempting this method, there are plenty of pig-headed higher levels that will just ignore them out of sheer superiority complex. It works better when you're lv120+. ==================================================================== indeed, nothing quite beats the hilarity of a nerd RAGE. :ugeek:
  7. I don't understand the point you're trying to make, but I never concluded that you used bots.
  8. Actually when you have public chat off you can't see anyone talk, you can however set it to "Hide" to show messages in your game screen but not in the chatbox. Also to make it clear, I do not approve of bots, but I do not care either. Maybe my posts implied that I was pro-botting but I am not. Yes, as I said before it's pretty much impossible for a player to discern a fishing bot from a real player. As there is very little opportunity for you to grab their attention via following, especially if it's crowded like the fishing guild. Many fishers will just minimise the window so they won't see anything either way.
  9. The real question is, if you had a robot to do your homework would you have used it? I would have. AND I found some botting forums No idea if i can post the link here but if i am allowed you should look at all the bots lmfao. From what the forums on there say, people have botted Soul Wars 24 hours a day for a week and didn't get caught. <-- Jamflex's anti-macroing at work there. That's the whole point of this rant. yes, many free bot sites exist, just because they're there doesn't mean you should endorse them.
  10. Yes, there are some instances where my test could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that spending a good 2minutes+ following someone is going to get their attention regardless of trading/talking.
  11. Ok, probably try to avoid direct personal attacks.
  12. Yea I'm so jealous. I wish I could get a program to play a game for me, because as you astutely pointed out Runescape requires me to sit around my house all day while botters, I assume such as yourself, are out getting all the hot chix and drinking bacardis and having sweet rave parties and greeting other people by doing that thing where you point both of your fingers like guns and go "pshew pshew" like the sound guns make, and then you go beat the [cabbage] out of some nerds because math is for [bleep]s, and it's the only way for you to assert yourself over those losers with no social lives. I get the feeling howbadisbad is going to pull a BloodArgon, and we'll see a post from him in the "I got banned" thread explaining how he's quitting after his umpteenth macro account got banned. But hey, at least in the meantime you've managed to put dem nurds in their place, right? I lol'd reading this because you put things in such hilarious terms, while assuming that by "have social lives" I meant going to huge parties and being like a boss. Tbh, if I was a bot I would laugh at the people who play legit (beat their asses irl by omali's standards) because I got the same thing as them with much less work, and I had fun (rave parties by omali's standards) And yes I will come back on this thread and say: OMFG JAMFLX BAND ME WTF DOOD I WUZ UNLY BOTIN FOR AL 99'S OMFG I QUIT RIP FAQSCAPE (Insert date when I was banned here) You do realise that much of what you just said can be easily classified under 'ass-hole mentality'.
  13. Or they assume you are a nub wanting free stuff and place you on their ignore list. Your basis for finding out if people are bots is somewhat hilarious, and does not prove in the slightest that people are bots. They just want their pixels more than they want to give you free stuff. that could be proven wrong, what if there lvl 3? and can you give us any other way to tell if there bots? It's actually very reliable, go back and read the post you quoted because I changed it. (was half jokeing the first time) The only time it doesn't work so well is when the training involves standing still, like fishing. Many people completely ignore the game during these activities.
  14. They were bots, there's no mistake. Testing is fairly simple - Follow the player - talk to them - trade - keep following - talk to them - etc by that tme, if they haven't responded, they're a bot (you've given them plenty of time to turn public chat on, even if they have trade off, you're following them). Plus you can always tell from the typical jerky and efficient movement patterns. It's especially clear when two bots are on top of each other and move to the next target in perfect sync.
  15. Because Jamflex is poor because their income has taken a hit over the years of these crappy updates. Hints to they are poor: 1. Raising of subscription prices 2. Runefest ticket prices are over 9000 (even though they claim they aren't making profit  ) 3. Crappy, poorly designed/ half completed updates needing complete reworking 4. And now, temp bans, so they can get their subscription moneysss Obviously the company is at fault for wrecking their own income that they have to rely on such measures now. (It started with the wilderness removal) <- *turns flame shield on* Sorry, you're just throwing assumptions at us. Here's some more likely explanations: 1. Because they can 2. Because they can 3. Thats your opinion 4. Perhaps In case you haven't noticed, RS advertisement is popping up everywhere, and they sheer fact that they can afford to hold Runefest greatly denotes the contrary of your belief.
  16. Reputation comes in the form of black marks (as well as friendship opportunities), so I guess that can be coupled with risk to account somewhat. Protip: never disregard reputation It is quite sad how Jagex openly announced a zero tolerance policy against bots, all would be issued perma-bans regardless of membership status, total experience and gameplay time. Why do we have yet to see this?
  17. Some people do it for the risk of getting banned (they bored and want to see what they can get away with) Some people do it because their friends are Some people do it because they think they're bad-ass Some people do it becayse they're jealous of other players Some people do it because they want to cut the middle-man and get straight to using/showing off things Some people do it <insert all of the above>
  18. there isn't really any bot supporters here, I don't think so anyway. I know I wouldn't openly admit I supported bots on an official fan-site forum. Society is going nowhere if everyone thinks like that. ============================================ Yes, you can't exactly tell a friend to stop botting, still doesn't mean that it's ok. Every bot has in-game friends.
  19. I have a right to rant about my own personal peeves, it's not like I'm just copy-pasteing somebody else's thread. Maybe these threads are frequent because... idk, its becoming a problem?! What you just said doesn't exactly do your personality justice. You've indirectly stated that you couldn't give a damn about other players or what they think of you; because they don't matter, right? Just as long as your own account is safe. It's called an MMO for a reason, we don't want to deal with bots, we want to interact with other players. Our motive to play this game is socially driven one in way or another.
  20. I'm not ranting to spark debate, there is no other decent side to argue. Bots should be shunned, banned, destroyed, not ignored/deemed insignificant or even benefitial. I'm annoyed and want to spread my word. As mentioned before, many are unaware of bots. On a side note: That hardly classifies as a 'fad'. Complaining that Dungeoneering should be a minigame was a fad. There's some bigots who still do it.
  21. Then you are essentially denying something that is bound to get worse for the sake of denying it. True that legit players have no control over this, should we just give up drawing attention to this? Well, it probably/admittedly wont make any difference in the long run, but that's no reason to accept that cheaters are roaming free. It's threads like this that make (some) people feel guilty for botting.
  22. Ok, you just said you hate me based on false assumptions... whatever 1. I have not been reading other topics about bots, this is purely from my experience 2. "soon no-one will care about bots", You are wrong, unless Jagex does something about it 3. Past few days? Hello! the issue has been up quite a bit longer than that. 4. Lets ignore the lion in the room a little while longer, I'm sure things will turn out great. Why don't you tease it with some raw steak while you're at it.
  23. Bots are capable of a lot more than just gathering (though it is the most popular, because most legit gatherers are zombies anyway  , thus can quite easily evade detection). Masses of people are gaining an unfair advantage. "my loss?" ..."That's the only reason I don't bot"...? You should probably reconsider how you phrase your words. It sounded like you just endorsed botting, that it is the smart thing to do...? Reasons why not to bot: - risk to account - hollow achievement (tick) - disregard for other players economically - dsregard for other players socially - reputation So you're totally cool with everything else? ======================================= The flaw with Jagex's detection system atm is that it fails to pick up bots that are online for less than ~12 hours a day. Though will quite consistently catch bots who are on 24/7. People are making upwards of 2mil a day with zero effort, 14mil a week, 56mil a month. There is nothing about what I just said that is OK in any way.
  24. It's the fact that they get away with it so easily. Doesn't that bother you even just a little bit? Jagex should hit them now before everywhere becomes as rampant as the chaos tunnel green dragons. btw, I don't think lowered prices/resource flooding would be too nice if you were the one trying to profit with the exact same method they were exploiting (which would be most if things get out of hand). Also remember that you yourself do not represent the opinion of the majority when it comes to dealing with bots. Most people are completely oblivious to it.
  25. For smelting steel/mithril/addy bars on the fly, it's the best place to be. Please don't assume I'm taking a lesser option by using the guild because it isn't.
