  1. I have a lot of fun with summoning, actually. Gathering charms, training, and using the skill are all enjoyable to me. I also think dungeoneering is the most entertaining thing released to RS so far. My previous favorite thing was Stealing Creation. Before that, it was Slayer. You cant just say that skills "are NOT fun". It seems to me there isnt a whole lot you DO find fun so maybe a different game would be the right fix for you.
  2. Well, sorry if I've given that impression. I certainly think it is possible to be happy with how Jagex does things and have the capacity for critical thought, but most of the responses I get are simply flames from people who are offended by the mere existence of people who disagree with Jagex's way of doing business. And that's pretty irritating as well. And usually when I list specific examples showing they are out of touch, nobody really has much of a response to it (cf the penance trident). I have responded to many of your specific examples in the other thread. For example you say that dungeoneering is a mini game because nobody can tell you how it is different from SC. I point out a simple fact that SC is played against other players. And then you dont respond to my refutement of your ridiculous claims. People dont like to refute your claims because when we do respond to them, you dont acknowledge the fact that you were mistaken. The penance trident: it is a bad item, but there are plenty of bad items in runescape. If the only content we had was "the best" stuff, the game would probably be a little bland. There are plenty of good magic staves in the game, and there are also other BA items which are useful. If they introduce too many really useful things from BA, then suddenly BA starts to become a mandatory mini game.
  3. Is raiding dungeon a class or a skill in WoW? If there's some sort of lore to support it, I'm alright with it. Some people on RSOF suggested about collecting tokens/crystals/gift vouchers (last one's mine) in the dungeon itself and exchanging for the items. But right now, tokens are strongly linked to your XP, and the items themselves are in no way linked to the Dungeoneer lore as well. Do you get a coal bag made out of behemoth skin? Or a scroll used by the geomancer? Or is the tome of frost used by Lexicus Runewright? Is the abyssal whip used by abby demons? Do we even see whips anywhere? Is the name "abyssal" just good enough? Why do tormented demons drop dragon claws? Are their claws made from dragon? Why can we make overload potions now? I demand Jagex gives us an explanation for where overload potions fall into Runescape history! Where do the penance items come from? We have a fighter torso...does this mean that we are actually wearing the skin of a penance fighter? Why does the kalphite queen drop a lava staff? Is there lava in her lair? Why can we hunt chinchompas? Where did they come from? What is the deal with a dragonfire shield? Some dragons just decide to drop their visage? Why? How does a draconic visage fit into the lore of runescape?
  4. These are great ideas. Not really going to lie. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be nice if having the skill directly affected gameplay like that. But I think theres a difference between nice and necessary. But you are calling it necessary. Again, I ask you what the difference is between the "lack" that dungeoneering has, and Slayer. The only thing that a Slayer level lets you do is Slay in different ways. Slayer isn't worked into other skills. In fact, the only in-game benefit of the skill is making money to use on other skills. You dont even need to have Slayer to use the whip. In dung, you dont make money, but you still get acess to 20-some new features that you seem to be ignoring. And I think that there is a good aspect in the fact that you NEED to get these items yourself.
  5. It's not cowardice, it's simply a decision that spending an hour properly responding to your overly verbose post is not worth my time. Anyone who knows me knows I hardly shy away from an argument, but when the other party doesn't even make an effort to make concise, well-thought-out points, it's not worh the bother. Nobody read your post, and they wouldn't read an equally lengthy reply; thus, the only reason to write it would be to convince you, and sorry pal, you're just not that important. ;) The points ARE concise. They are logical, they are well stated. The phrase you are looking for is "Omg theres just too much" which just shows how many arguments can be made against your wildly irrational viewpoint. Nobody would be saying anything if you just said "My opinion is simply that: an opinion. The things I am saying are just things that I choose to believe, and there very well may not be any logical reason to think the way that I do." But you are spreading your opinion asthough it is an objective truth. It isnt, it isnt rational, it isnt reasonable. This debate is like when I get into an argument with a creationist. They try to rationalize their belief in god. They try to provide evidence for the failure of evolution. But none of it is true, or rational at all. Eventually they realize that what they percieve as the truth is simply a perception and not a logical truth.
  6. Lmao wow. I dont have the time to read all of that right this second, but after class I am gonna sit down with a glass of brandy and laugh at how big of a "new one" you just ripped into these idiots who are making their dislike of the skill to be some type of "fact". The fact is they dont like the skill, but they are too afraid to just not like Runescape so their brain invents these crazy rationalities as to why the skill is somehow objectively wrong.
  7. Im just saying theres a difference between saying you dont like something and saying that something IS or ISNT something. Do you have the right to say that the current president of the entire world is Muhammad Ali? Saying that he is the ruler of the world would not be an opinion. It is a delusion of reality.
  8. What you said: What you should have said:
  9. @qeltar Ignoring the part where I disproved your whole Stealing Creation argument? And explained to you that game designers have to decide on exp rates somehow? And that random environments is basically against the definition of grinding? And that the idea is still similar to slayer (which is one of the slowest skills yet has way more 99s than some easier ones)
  10. It's just a game, some things cannot be THAT realistic. And some things are in place for a reason. If you don't have the bulk of XP at the end of the agility course but spread it out evenly, people are just going to repeat that one single obstacle over and over. Sure it's still repeating an action, but since they designed a COURSE they would want players to complete the whole thing. I think NukeMarie was actually trying to make that same point. Some decisions are arbitrary, and it is part of the game design.
  11. These are opinions: "I don't enjoy the new skill." "The new skill is boring." These are irrational things that you have no reason to think: "The new skill is not really a skill, it should be a mini game." "The new skill has nothing to offer RS" Saying "the sky is purple...but thats my opinion" does not just let you say such things. The sky is blue and that is a fact. You cant say "Well, in MY opinion, 2+2=8" Lies are lies, and denial of reality is not the same thing as opinion.
  12. Brilliant. btw hi iDr :o Havent seen you around these parts in awhile.
  13. People have complained ever since the G.E that Jagex have been taking the multiplayer part out of this game. They finally make something that rewards playing with others and people bash it. As usual, people are never happy. I think the problem is that a lot of people just really dont even like this game. Theyre just addicted to playing for way too long and bragging that they have more gold/higher stats than the person beside them.
  14. Yeah. Saying "I should be allowed to just complete the last floor" is like saying "There should be less obstacles on this agility course" The prestige system is part of the intended exp rate. Saying the system would give you faster exp if it worked different is just...well..its just really stupid. It makes no sense to say that. The same could be said for any skill. Summoning would give me faster exp if the pouches and second ingredients were stackable.
  15. You play against other players in SC. Having a high dung level also lets you get unique rewards that add a variety of gameplay features. SC gives you bonus exp. Worse is subjective. You are acting like these things are design flaws. In reality, its just your personal dislike. Also, "grinding" usually means "doing the same thing over and over". How can you call the process of doing 35 different floors "more grinding" than doing the same floor 20+ times? Also the intrinsic motivator is that you should have fun doing the dungeons, and seeing a range of bosses. Would Slayer be more fun if you just got assigned the same task 500000 times? No. People like slayer because you get random assignments and it adds some sense of variety. Is it REALLY variety? No. Your task comes from the same list of like 20 monsters, and you probably are going to use almost identical equipment on every task. Arguing that you should just be able to do floor 35 over and over is like arguing that you should be able to choose the same slayer task over and over. The POINT of slayer is to kill assigned monsters. The POINT of dungeoneering is to test your ingenuity and to make sure you see an unpredictable range of environments.
  16. List them for me. I'm sure half of your "long list" is your unreasonable arguments that you cannot defend. ^ This Also, To Qeltar, i made a nice argument on why this IS a skill not a mini game, since you seem to be strongly against calling this a skill can you read that it if you get the chance Dont worry, he will only respond with anecdotal exaggerations.
  17. List them for me. I'm sure half of your "long list" is your unreasonable arguments that you cannot defend.
  18. No. 5, 6, and 7 are 3 different numbers, not 7...Youd have a progress of 3
  19. This is true. But I would change one thing. ALWAYS do EVERY room you can before you reset. If you reset at 30 out of 35, you are gonna be doing another 30 floors with only 30 prestige instead of 35 prestige. It is a HUGE difference if you dont get all your prestige saves in.
  20. Basically if you just buy everything that Banana Republic has for sale, youll be looking classy in no time.
  21. I have never owned a barrows item (outside of merching them). I have never worn or utilized any barrows item. My concession to the rent-to-never-own mentality was a few crystal bows back in the day. But I dispensed with them quite a while ago. Ah. I think we've come to a conclusion then that your hate towards the skill, and other things apparently, is just based on irrationality and stubornness.
  22. If these items followed the trend of other updates, the spec would be in the KB. But theres always the chance they are hiding it from us.
  23. ...And 20 brand new items that are usable in the rest of runescape. ... at a recurring cost. It's like rent-to-own, except you are never owning and always renting. First of all, only 5 of the 20 rewards degrade. (I am grouping the weapons together like they do on the KB. In reality there are 28 rewards you can buy and 13 of them degrade) Second of all, so you don't like degrading objects? What about barrows, do we "rent" barrows armor? Do you not like barrows, arguably one of the most important and sucessful updates in the past 5 years?
  24. ...And 20 brand new items that are usable in the rest of runescape.
  25. Yeah, it doesn't really make any sense to split Off-topic into level-based sections.
