  1. By the time I can move, I've already been hit 3 or 4 times. Multiply that by the number of specials and I don't stand a chance without a super anti. <_< It doesn't protect against all of his spew, but it does nullify miasma for the length of the fight. So at least I have a fighting chance. I eventually get him after 2 or 3 deaths with normal antis from the store. Okay well don't take your point of view with terrible internet and assume that nobody can handle it. My internet is far from the best, but I have no trouble moving before I have even been hit one time.
  2. Am I the only American who is sitting here reading this and thinking: "Wow...people take trains?" Anyway, is the fan base really large enough to hold this kind of thing? I've got a feeling its gonna end up being Jagex + 100 fat old nerdy guys sitting around in a room that is way too big for this event. Anyone else get that picture in their head?
  3. You need to trap those things, not kill them. I don't think that any primal item is as good all around as the spear, only because of how useful it is to have every combat style. Oh damn, thanks for that. Do you get more than one hide this way? You get 3. I think every time. Ive only done it a couple times though cause I never range.
  4. I've never killed him on the first effort without a strong antipoison (not the cheapies they sell in the shop). YMMV. This is ridiculous. Riftsplitter is one of the easiest bosses. I take probably 15 salve eels + veng casts, and pray piety. If you just move out of the damn things that kill you, he'll be dead in minutes... <_<
  5. Is there really a way that you would be able to stop it? Why can't a bunch of people just want to buy the same item? We are all free to buy what we want. The people aren't doing anything but using the market at the same time together. You cant really define "manipulation"
  6. Which is exactly why so many people hate slayer, right? Oh wait. People love slayer. The only thing that makes you better at slayer is outside skills (combats) and the only thing a higher slayer level lets you do is more slayer. Yeah. Its clear to me. Crystal clear. Nobody enjoys this type of a skill
  7. So you solved my confusion. If people have problems with this skill then they have problems with many skills/minigames/diversions/quests, because those objects do not have a clear definition anywhere, and there are many successful updates that have been labeled "incorrectly" but have been very good for this game (Slayer)
  8. Can someone just explain one thing to me: A lot of this debate about the skill being good brings in "BUT its a minigame!" (or, a skill-minigame hybrid) Whether or not it IS a minigame, why would it be a BAD thing? I mean, Slayer is virtually a mini game. Hell, its virtually the same thing as building that statue (you are rewarded for doing things that were already in the game). But why would dungeoneering be evil if it WAS a mini game?
  9. I still like the skill but I do agree it is clumsy. The puzzles and bosses are definitely intended to be played by teams. I'm not saying you CANT solo...just that in the course of a dungeon so much stuff drops, and things of that nature, that it is hard to get a really rewarding experience playing solo. But at the same time, the game is not really designed well enough to play with a team unless you are speaking on ventrillo. It is really complicated and hard to keep track of doors and keys without spending half your time typing. I mean, I duoed some with a friend while we were on ventrillo voice chat, and the experience was pretty good. Its just that if I only played the skill whenever my good friends were a.) online and b.) had time for vent+ dung, I would level the skill pretty slow. There are definitely some clumsy features in this skill that I first attributed to a steep learning curve. But after spending some time with it, some things just arent feeling any better. There needs to come a time when Jagex realizes that this is still a point-and-click game. And some really complicated features are just gonna be too big of an idea for this game. I'm not saying Dung is definitely too big an idea for RS. Its just that it definitely posed a challenge to them, and I dont think that it is completely smoothed out quite yet. I have been feeling some frustration with this skill, but really at this time I cant go into any more details because I need to go to sleep.
  10. Perhaps they are leaving room for in the future when they might introduce a system where you can get pure tokens instead of exp. (as an explanation for bonecrusher cost)
  11. I actually agree with this. Runescape just doesn't have the support features to make it any less than clumsy when playing with groups of people, especially groups of strangers. I mean, I guess if the only game you have ever played is Runescape, then the group play would seem alright. But comparing RS to other games, the most user friendly parts of the game are just when you sit back, skill, and have a chat with friends. If the only way to play Dung was in groups, then I would have a much different attitude toward the skill. I personally think you do have to do it in groups to make it worth it, and find the skill slow, mind numbling tedious, and so on and so on. Wep, that's my biggest issue with Jagex right now. Any chance you're a wrestling fan? If you are, there was this one fed called ECW. Very popular, very good niche that they thrived in for years. Once they got too big for their britches and started to try and go mainstream, they got slaughtered. This is how I feel about Runescape. Its funny that you mention that, because I was a wrestling fan, or maybe more of an ECW fan, until what you are talking about actually happened. Once ECW became WCW (or whatever the hell happened...and then became WWF? Which became WWE?) it just was a bore. One part of Jagex's failure in my opinion is the "official" forums. After years of being out they are still difficult to use, and they are still overwhelmed with garbage. So much effort is being wasted in moderating and "improving" those forums. I was pretty bummed when they came out with their most recent "improvement" to the forums. Which means they still have people working on those things and they still are not good. The only thing they were good for is selling items (which is now obsolete due to the GE) and I suppose they are nice for finding teams/groups.
  12. I have been a supporter of the new skill so far, but this problem is pretty sad if it is true. Especially for the 2h sword...
  13. I actually agree with this. Runescape just doesn't have the support features to make it any less than clumsy when playing with groups of people, especially groups of strangers. 14. Why does the shield for rangers soak up ranged damage? And the shield for mages soak up magic? And melee for melee? Shouldnt the melee shield soak up ranged damage, the ranged shield soak up magic, and the magic shield soak up melee?
  15. Yeah what exactly is the deal, bro?
  16. I have started L-Glutamine and after about 10 days I think I have seen an improvement on my recovery.
  17. I really don't think they are overpriced at all. Sure, you might think that "Oh this shirt looks identical to this other shirt I saw at _____" But BR makes their clothes with quality fabric, the details of the cut always fit better, and the clothes look nice for a long time. Many stores will sell you clothes that are one of two fabrics: cotton or polyester (or a blend). Most of BR's clothing is made of some type of wool, silk, cashmere, etc...which gives the clothing a much more authentic feel (not like the plastic clothing you get at a place like Old Navy) I mean, I guess if you are used to shopping at Wal Mart for your clothes, or common places that you see in every mall, or department stores, then BR might seem a little pricey. But the quality is just much better.
  18. Quoted for truth. The virtual gaming world creates an alternate reality which, to many people, is far more enjoyable than their real lives. It is a snowballing problem. A young teenager is bored in the winter in his small town so he starts playing an MMO to fill the void. But then he just enjoys that far more than anything else hes experienced in his young life with no opportunities so far. But then, he starts getting too involved in the virtual world and it just makes him neglect his real life even more. Making his real life seem even less appealing and the virtual world even more appealing. Eventually the 15 year old turns into an adult but he missed out on many opportunities he could have had. I think it is ridiculous to purely blame the people themselves for this. If someone is currently in a situation with nothing better to do, immersing yourself in an online community is really fun. And if you are having fun, theres no reason for you to stop your fun habit and try something new that may or may not be fun. I think a person's environment can be a huge cause of game addiction. I wouldn't say the game is to blame though.
  19. I think that the real answer is that melee armor provides defense against melee AND range, letting you prot magic to prevent most damage. Range armor really only protects from magic, and mage armor really only protects from magic. The magic monsters do not cast enough snares to make meleeing a bad choice vs. magic users. Also in my experience, it is hard to kill mages and rangers with magic. It is easy to kill all 3 types of monster with melee.
  20. It's a nice side benefit, but it's not anything earth-shattering. The lack of applicability to the rest of the game makes the appeal somewhat limited. There is also the team aspect that to some extent makes high level players in groups subject to a lot of "assist requesting". And the boosting potions are far more powerful than outside: with the right potion, an 88 is a 99. What I meant was, do you think that the fact that these applications ARE isolated could be a good thing? For example: if we released new things that only people with 99 runecrafting could make and use in the Runescape world, I would think this is a little ridiculous as RC is very slow and it is somewhat unfair to expect most of your players to want to do that. I mean, take overloads for example. Benefit of having a skill at 95, and the potions are untradeable, and it made herb prices really skyrocket. I mean, obviously, it is good to have high-level requirements, but do you think that we will ever get to the point where we see a level 99 herblore potion? Or was the isolated world of demononheim a smart place to include level 99+ requirements for things? Before Demonheim we didnt really have things to do with our 99s. Now almost every skill has a use for 99 (or HIGHER for some doors), but because it was isolated in the instanced dungeon, it hasn't made 50% of the RS population start training smithing. Do you think this is a good or bad thing? I guess the question is: if they took all the level 99 stuff in demonheim and put it into the RS world instead, would this be a good or bad thing?
  21. Qeltar--a question for you (unrelated to the post I quoted): Do you like the fact that this skill has given meaning to having level 99s in stats? I mean sure, its pretty isolated from the RS world in many ways, but do you think that this could have been needed? I mean, if something like overload potions was released to all skills, that could hypothetically cause a huge imbalance in the game (the people who have been playing this game for years and have all 99s will have acess to each hugely powerful thing, whereas a new player would feel overwhelmed by trying to achieve even one 99). Do you think that this skill was a good way to give some unique activities to do with 99 skills without disrupting the RS society? (I mean, without making people feel constrained to the point where they HAVE to get a 99?)
  22. Depends on what you mean by merch. Do you mean "Sell again within 12 hours for a quick profit" or "Hold onto for weeks at a time trying to make a profit"? If you are talking about the first thing, its easy. You can basically buy anything. My favorite is whips. Buy 10 whips at a somewhat low price (itll take like 5-10 minutes to get them) then sell them for like 40k higher each. Free 400k.
  23. On a similar note, does anyone know what Level Mod even means? It never seems to be anything other than 10% no matter what you do.
  24. I don't really see how you think it is a "second" multiplier. Please elaborate more clearly?
  25. What is your argument? People who take the time to train up all their skills should not be rewarded with better exp?
