  1. It's hard to tell whither the prices will average out at a much higher price than before PVP or if all the new skillers attracted by the extremely high prices will boost the supply and prices fall back to normal. Really that depends on what is more popular, or what becomes more popular over the long run. PVP or Skilling. Right now it's PVP, so prices will continue to rise over the next few weeks. However with all the negative opinions PVP is getting I'd be willing to bet that the popularity of it will soon die down, and prices either return to normal or stabalize at a new higher price if it's more popular than I think it will be.
  2. Well I, for one, am loving all the food shortages. I have 22K monks in my bank and the price on them just keeps growing and growing at a rate I've never seen nor will see again. The only thing to figure out is when to sell before the market gets flooded when they peak. Anyway that was kind of OT, but I did try and buy a rune plate the day PVP came out for some F2P adventures but no luck. Really haven't tried since then though, I don't enjoy PKing that much.
  3. It is my personal experience, and the general consensus I think that 10 levels above the requirement of a certain fish will get you the optimum fishing speed. Of course the higher you go from that the faster you catch them, but that's when you should start to notice a real difference from fishing with min-requirement.
  4. Everyone here as pretty much hit the nail on the head, so I'll just back up what they say. =] If you want to get to the real 99, stick with monks. It's the best XP/GP balance while fishing. But even if you don't care about XP and only want money, the money you lose fishing monks instead of sharks is neglibible while the XP you receive is phenomenally greater. You get around 2.5X the XP per hour fishing monks versus sharks. Sharks aren't really worth it until you hit 99, but since you already [kind of] have that if you just want money fish sharks. But I think you'd get a better sense of accomplishment getting 99 fishing legitimately.
  5. What's with all the "black mark free" pride? I have a few(well don't know about anymore becuase of the reduction effect) and wear them like medals. Just means that I'm human. But I'm still in the green zone.
  6. I've made quite a few accounts but only played a lot on 3 of them. The current one I have now and intend to keep as my main(I never got the point of playing on more than 1 account at a time) one I forgot the pass after a very long break from RS and the first was hacked and I never recoverd it.
  7. I completely understand how you feel. Though I did not have a hard as time as you slipping into the Defender role, I do have equal problems with people just refusing to call and team leaders who don't know what a good team configuration is. It's enough to drive any half decent BA player insane. :wall:  My advice is don't even stick around for teams who don't call, even if it's one player, just leave and find a new one even if it's mid game. Don't waste your time. And being Defender will become much more natural to you once you get a rythym down, don't worry. GL with your Torso.
  8. GF trying to convince us all that you're over the age of 18, because this hypocritical, horribly mistyped and idiotic "paragraph" shows us all that you're really around the age of 12. First off, you criticize other people for stereotyping when you yourself have the stereotype that people the age of 18+ should drink and drive, lift weights and beat people up? You may aspire to partake in such pathetic and dangerous behaviour when you turn 18, but it's really not the ideal lifestyle for most intelligent adults. IMO you deserve to not only get muted for a week, but perm-banned from Runescape. Morons like you only ever have a negative influence on the community and are best gotten rid of.
  9. There isn't really a Barrows armor that is both good for slaying and minigames. It's one or the other when it comes to Barrows, because these armors are specialized it means there is no one that will fit a wide variety of situations. If you want to slay, use Guthans, for PvP minigames use Torags or Ahrims.
  10. My first 99 will be fishing, for several reasons. - The cape looks good. - I'll make a lot of money getting it, which will carry over towards another 99. - The skill has a use at 99. (unlike Herblore, Farming, Fletching etc.) - It's relatively easy to get, not a lot of clicking. - Respected by other players. (unlike Firemaking, Fletching)
  11. You should go straight there, I agree with the above poster that they're just as fast as lobsters maybe a little slower so training to a higher level isn't going to make that much of a difference with how fast you catch them compared to what you're training on.
  12. Whip hands down. I've borrowed a BGS and only used it for about 20 minutes before going back to my Whip I was so dissapointed with it.
  13. It depends on what strategy you use that should give you an idea of what KC you need. If you're using a lot of spells like slayer dart then you want a higher KC (20+) to replenish your runes or if you want a good amount of bolt racks for say the Fire Cape. If you're using a mostly melee method like Veracs you want to keep it at a minimum as that will speed up your run time, since you aren't using that many if any runes you don't need to stick around to get more.
  14. It's just a word you have to get use to seeing either directed at you or some other fellow for no substantial reason. When I first started playing [again] I almost quit becuase of how many times I got called a noob and concluded that the RS community just wasn't worth playing in, and when I retaliated by flaming it only came back on me as a 24 mute. So after that I learned my lesson and ignored it. Once you get set into the habit of just not reacting to antagonism playing the game will become much more relaxing.
  15. I had this happen to me too once, it was awhile ago though. But I freaked out because I had never heard of this happening, but then I went on the forums and saw I was not alone. In about 20 minutes I had my account back and everything was fine. Sorry this happened to you and it can be pretty frustrating. :wall:
  16. and i have no patience for idiots who dont read. this wasn't generally about me being hacked/account stolen, its about how low some players must go just to either enjoy a game or make others miserable. and for anyone who posts a simular post, for the love of god actully read the rant, dont fly straight in and post like you did. :wall: Obviously you didn't read my post thoroughly enough to understand the moral, which is; if people didn't make such simple mistakes as I have listed, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now in a thread which is borderline waste of forum space. However, why don't you take your immature name calling to the people who hacked your account instead of puking it up in my general direction? Might want to wipe your mouth there kiddo. And no, generally this isn't about you getting hacked, but specifically it is and thus your own stupidity. And speaking of your own stupidity, you should learn how to read yourself before accusing someone else of not being able to. Specifically your own posts. :) (no pun intended)
  17. Honestly I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who get their account hacked, and not a lot of hatred for the hackers. They're just taking advantage of another person's stupidity, and if you make it easy for them to steal your account you can't really blame them for doing it can you? All you have to blame is yourself. :shame: If you change your pass once a week, keep it a secret and avoid sites you know will jepoardize the secruity of your account and scan your computer regularly along with taking advantage of all the secruity tools Jagex offers you won't ever have to worry about this happening to you. Easy as that.
  18. Thanks for the sympathy. If "noob" isn't reportable, how is "idiot"?! *sigh* I just don't get it...I'm not a rule breaker. Ah well, its only 1 offense to painfully regret. Are you sure your mute was for Rule 1(offensive language)? It looks to me as if they got you for flooding the chatbox(that's a lot of dialouge in 60 seconds) rather than offensive language, I've used "idiot" and "moron" quite a lot in this game not surprisingly since there are lots of those around in RS but I've never got muted for it. And they're not filtered, so I would think they're OK words to use.
  19. People have differences of opinion, and they're perfectly entitled to share it even to the emotional distress of the OP. True, this is a forum geared towards venting but a forums very purpose is as a tool for people with different opinions to share them. All these people are doing when they disagree with a poster is helping the internet to fulfill its intelectual role. :geek:
  20. I've had almost this exact situation happen with me, and it's also why I don't give out free stuff anymore. Awhile back there was this guy who came up and asked me if I had any spare stuff I could give him since he had been hacked, I said sure and gave him just about everything I had doubles of including a rune pick axe haha. But about every 15 minutes he'd PM me wanting me more and more, until finally I just put him on my ignore list. It's not the only time that's happeend either. People just can't be modest and accept what you're willing to give them, they have to milk you for all you're worth. :?
  21. Hi, have you ever tried helping one or a group of people out only to have it blow up in your face? Well I have, and this felt like a good time to share my experiences as well as for other people to get there's out. Plus I thought it would make for some interesting stories. To begin with we all the the IQ of the average RS player is about 30, so an intelligent players intentions or words can often be misinterpreted and there is just a general dislike for people with compassion in this game. Twice have I run into these kinds of people. #1) The first day the Academy of Safety was released I hurried to the new building just like everyone else and completed the test and ran through the dungeon, discovering the treasure chest and its cool new rewards. When I came back I noticed there were many lower level or newer players who were scared or confused as to what the dungeon held in store for them. So I start advertising that I'm taking anyone and everyone to the treasure chest absolutely risk and cash free. Upon which someone comes and says "Scammer! There is no chest! Reported!" and starts encouraging others to report me for scamming as well. Though this didn't really effect the crowds and crowds of people who I lead to the chest and back again without a scratch, it was still quite frustrating. #2) You may not be aware of this but for a few days there was a problem with the bank which lead to dozens of Dragon Fire Shields, Abyssal Whips and other items being dropped out of your inventory instead of safely deposited into your bank, which most people did not notice and lost their respective items. It was all over the forums so I'd thought I would be a good samaritan and warn people in game. I was at Clan Wars repeating the message for players not to bank their DFS for a few days, and to check out the forums to see what was happenning. After a few minutes of this someone accuses me of scamming, going on about how a DFS could not be lent (I can only assume he figured I wanted someone to lend me their DFS so they wouldn't have to bank it, but I had not even mentioned item lending once). Soon other people join in also calling me a scammer, trouble maker and an idiot for trying to spare a few people of potentially losing their items and millions of GP due to a glitch. It was so bad I haven't ever tried to help people in crowds again. However one guy did check the forums and confirmed my story for me, though he was also quickly ganged up on and called the same names I was. Sorry about the long post and thanks for reading! Share your stories too if you have any.
