That's good to hear, maybe now Linux continue on its road to world domination =D> With Ubuntu leading the charge

If its the correct sensor, then its actually inside the processor itself. There are also sensors on the motherboard sometimes for ambient temps. And the sensors are pretty dang accurate, but theres not really an accurate way to test it. Oh and definately get Arctic Silver 5, stuff is amazing!

NFL Super Bowl-Post who you think will make it and or win..

Gonna have to say the Chiefs!! Oh screw it I wish I didn't live in KC :wall: :wall: :wall: -
I've heard lots of good things about Dragon Dictate (NaturallySpeaking V10), but as far as getting it to work with Runescape I doubt it. As the others have said Jagex would need to work on it themselves, which they probably won't. I can't see the benefits of them working it out. Even if Runescape did support it most people wouldn't use it seeing as good software (Dragon) is 89.99.

Sadly, Flash Player is still closed source (pretty sure). So you can't really blame Linux that software that they can't fix themselves won't work. It is Adobe's fault for not making it open source so it could be used with more OS's(without crashing) And Linux has issues with a lot of ATI graphics cards, but works great with NVidia

Some monitors have cooling vents that they could possibly get in through Ya the actual LCD part should be sealed very tight, I was talking about the actual plastic part of the monitor case. How that ant managed to get into a "sealed" container would be very interesting to know, maybe its made in China

If everything is attached correctly and the thermal paste looks like its spread well, it might be a dud processor. I got 2 Pentium Ds that did the exact same thing, so Intels tech support said to ship them back as faulty processors. The replacements worked at the proper temperature. Oh and I wouldn't leave the computer on too long, as tech support said anything over 70C can damage the processor (that was for Pentium D's, the newer processors MIGHT be more heat resistant, but I wouldn't test that lol)

More problems with this thing than enough...
Arixe replied to The Observer's topic in Tech and Computers
Thats a wierd issue. It sounds to me like your motherboard is having some issues, since the HDD works fine under Ubuntu Live CD. I would pull out the book that came with the motherboard (if you still have it) and see if there is a way to disable RAID. You only have 1 HDD(correct me if i'm wrong) so you shouldn't need any RAID enabled. Another thing would be to either try the HDD in another computer (friends/co-workers if you don't have another) or to try one of their HDD in your computer. That should give you a definitive answer as to whether it is a motherboard or HDD issue. -
Ah semantics... If you checked the links for the games that they had they are either for Windows or OS X Leopard. So in my mind they are trying to compare Macs (using OS X) to PCs (using Windows) which used to be a legitimate debate. But most people just see PCs as computers running Windows because lets face it, almost any PC you buy nowadays comes with some version of Windows preinstalled :wall: Although Linux and Macs are giving Windows a hard time seeing as how Vista got blackmarked early on and now everyone thinks Vista=trash right off the bat.

It's a problem with Swiftkit itself. I too cannot look up items. When you open Swiftkit there is an announcement about it
-
Yeah but in their mainstream desktop OS's they are trying to phase it out. They can bank that anyone running a server shouldn't need to drag little icons around to configure their server. And yes, 2008 is their newest server release
-
Before you get yourself all bent out of shape, Mac (using Leopard) was being compared to PC's using Windows. And notice the ~ meaning around 0. So calm yourself down before you have a heart attack. There are far fewer virus's for Max OS X than for Windows OS and that is a fact. So lay off, you're just making yourself look like an idiot. Oh and find your sense of humor, you seem to have dropped it somewhere.

Not that I have ever seen, the processor and graphics card to run Crysis would run you around $500. I'll look around and post back but don't hold your breath. Edit: I'm not finding anything after a quick search, under $500 is mainly a basic computing PC
-
It should also say something to the effect of "What viruses Macs are getting" ~0? "What viruses PC's are getting" ~(someone count and get back to me in a couple years) But ya, now that Macs use Intels you can play Super Mario at breakneck speeds

Onboard graphics means no Crysis, sorry. Should handle WoW though, but with onboard you really can't expect very much at all And Crysis will lag a bit on all but the very top end computers, the developers were more worried about eye candy than the actual game sadly. My friend plays it with little lag running a Core2Quad and 9800GX2 x2(the graphics card costs more than that whole computer and it handles crysis fairly well, just as a perspective) I would recommend if you have the technical knowledge, to build your own pc. More bang for your buck. Edit: Monitor not included as far as I see

UNIX is pretty much only used in servers nowadays. UNIX has a command line interface Linux- (Like UNIX) based off of UNIX, but with a nice shiny GUI so average computer geek can use it without extensive command line knowledge Pretty much all OSes show the signs of UNIX with their command line interfaces(even though Microsoft is trying to get rid of it :wall: )

I'd personally look around at some small computer shops and ask them how much they would charge to upgrade your RAM. Geek Squad or firedog will rip you off, simple as that. They gouge prices big time. Or find a friend with a little knowledge of computers to help you out. If you really want to do it yourself, I'd reccomend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141470 grab a stick or two of that. Pull out your old stick of RAM and pop that in and power up the computer. If all goes well you can shut it down and try sticking in your current stick of 128Mb. It might work or might not. Oh and that RAM was assuming it was a base 2400, not a 2400C or 2400n. And googling "installing RAM" might render some helpful results :D Arixe

Look through these guides, they both provide great info on completing tasks http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=763395 http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=764201 And for greaters.. Unless you kill them under the watchtower I personally wouldn't range them.

Is RuneScape being ruined without us noticing?
Arixe replied to Stephenswat's topic in General Discussion
Maybe it hasn't changed as much as you think. Maybe it's just your attitude towards it has. I remember playing around with my friends back when I very first started playing. We would just run around and have fun, not a care in the world. We would admire the people with full rune (the best armor available back then) and would wish we had a set. But of course we were "miles" away from that 40 defence. I mean ~50k exp was a LOT. But we kept playing, and eventually that 40 defence was reached. And from there it wasn't just running around with friends. It was about getting that amazing armor. And with all the new armor that kept coming out, the rat race just kept getting longer and longer. Most people today are all about having the very best armor, but there are still those new players who haven't been corrupted into wanting the latest and greatest armor. They just want that full set of iron and their life will be complete (you remember those days when you first started right?) -
Should Jagex allow us to hide advertisements?
Arixe replied to cybergla's topic in General Discussion
Jagex has every right to put ads into F2P, it helps pay so that you can play. And yes, they can tell that you block ads. I've been to multiple sites that don't want you using ad-blocking programs and in the space that the ad is supposed to be, it says something like "We notice you have an ad-blocker. Please disable it, ads pay for our servers so that you can use this site for free." But, Jagex should monitor the ads closer. When I was F2P, there were ads that noticeably slowed down my computer (Pentium D @ 3Ghz, 2 gigs of RAM). Some of the ads were bad enough i couldn't even click on the ad to set it to low quality. The ads were removed within a couple days of the first time I saw them, but they really shouldn't of been there in the first place. -
If you use wireless internet, one of your neighbors might be "borrowing" your internet. Make sure it's secure. And make sure you don't have any downloads running in the background. If all else fails contact you ISP via phone, you will have more luck than on their forum.

The fact they are going with micro payments for 80% of their revenue is fail... :shame: One of the main reasons Runescape is so popular is that you pay $5 a month and get a chance to have the very best items in the game (excluding prior untradeable holiday items). Very few games that allow you to buy the best items with real money last simply because it's no fun. A lot of MMO's are all about working towards that awesome item and the sense of accomplishment when you get it. Sony's greed will get in the way of their game being a hit.
