  1. I believe that, depending on your stats/equipment , your chance for NOT cutting down the tree is changed. So when several people are cutting down a tree and you hear the sound of it falling that means you got the unlucky role. If you want to know which tree to cut if all the trees seem to have people on them, pick one with people that have higher woodcutting levels and better equipment. It may seem to be contrary to what you'r instincts would tell you- but a tree has no "# of logs" the only thing that makes it come down is someone getting that bad roll (as far as I can tell anyways). Other people cutting the same tree wont "steal" your logs; you cut just as fast on a full tree or an empty one.
  2. You might want to mention that it is on page 54 :P
  3. These are also weak to stab so you can use a spear- although they arn't particularity resistant to slash. I use the prayer book method to remove the poison; it wont interrupt fighting, but super antis should work just fine. As for armor, if you have 80+ defense you can wear ranged or mele gear- their one magic attack isn't all that prevalent so mele armor is probably a better choice. I've used Armadyl and Veracs at them without much difference. The most damage you will take is from not paying attention.
  4. The Z-Spear is one of my favorite weapons. Stab is relatively underused in PVM and so many don't know what it is good for besides Corp. If you plan to train slayer a this is a must buy if you have the cash to spare. There are a lot of creatures that are weak to stab so its a good idea to exploit it; Aquas, Giants of any kind, dragons of any kind, Dagannoths, strykewyrms (Not Ice I believe), Spiritual mages (Haven't tested myself but told to be true), Suqah, and many others. The Z-spear is also a viable and cheaper alternative to a Sara Sword for monsters that are very weak to crush. With a Whip + Z-Spear that pretty much covers all of the tasks you would want to melee. (In case you didn't know the Z-Spear is the same speed as a whip.) In short, it is definitely worth the 4-5m it costs; anyways, it's not like that cash you spend just disappears, you can always sell it later if you are really hurting for money/need to recover from a death.
  5. I spit out my juice reading that. appreciate the laugh. OT: Save it. Seriously. I try to buy only the bare essentials, it makes the game more fun and a bit more challenging. Save for your claws, pit your money in a corner of your bank so you can't see it. Maybe buy some essence and do some RC, and go camp some monsters for profit. Just don't look at the money. Eventually, you'll have made money while still having ~20M. And then you'll look at it and be at 60M. Do it. I dare you. In my experience saving a stack of cash isn't all that helpful, If you buy a fury for example you are almost guaranteed a good investment as you can always sell it later and the price would have risen.
  6. It would seem rather pointless for this to happen anytime soon. If the sort of fundamental changes to the game you suggested were going to be implemented it would be more similar to a "Runescape 3" transition. But, seeing as Jagex seems to want to just evolve the current engine and game that scenario is not likely. Also, most of the changes you suggested would only annoy people and don't really sound like things that need to be changed. It may be that a new release of Runescape may come about that would have that "Blank Slate" feel based on what the devs think would be beneficial to the game, but it certainly would not be just for kicks- it would be a further evolution of the game and would be supported as such. I don't see anything like this happening for a few years however.
  7. I think many of you are missing the main point that the author of this thread stated. As I understand it, the superior "raw" stats of the shield will negate a lot of damage. Completely avoiding the damage of an attack is much better than just negating some of the damage. As the author's argument stands. it seems reasonable to assume that the Chaotic Shield would be better for most activities in Runescape, slayer is what comes to mind primarily. But like the author stated, some bosses and if you aren't praying mage Divine may be better overall. All of this is not considering the cost of maintenance or pray pots tho.
  8. Whenever I want to speed up my training and team up with others I never use PUGs. I'm combat 114 and there is usually people in my clan that are willing to team up for a few floors. The few times that I have teamed up in a PUG its been generally frustrating so I think it's best to just use your friends and clanmates- team up with people you know.
  9. Wilderness Volcano is the best spot before you get to a higher slayer level. It is right by the old BH bank and I have never seen a reverent there. It can be a tad crowded sometimes however.
  10. "The Guild offers a wide range of services, which become available as its facilities are expanded. These include training in the many and varied schools of skulduggery, a store which stocks useful rogues' tools (untraceable, naturally) and a helpfully discrete bank." -From the RSKB Sounds like there may be a decent amount of unlockable content once the full guild has been created by these mini-quests.
  11. What kind of chip you got in there, a dorrito? Maulmachine, you just made my day.
  12. I have a question... This new client you speak of- are they planning on having you download the entire game for faster load times and stuff like that? I would find that incredably usefull :^_^:
  13. Needs to post on TIF more...

  14. I have done a few Turoths trips and gotten clues at a ridiculous rate (as the guide says :D) and quickly done the clues. I was just wondering if anyone has done any sort of long term testing of this method's viability for making money. I know that clues are unpredictable but if anyone has any experiences using this method more than I have I would love to hear the results.
  15. Took me long enough to find this thread.. >_> Happy Birthday to Nexus! :D
  16. I think this should be repeated in a similar way every 4-8 weeks or so. Bonus XP events not only drive gameplay forward in a positive way, but also stimulate the market. Frankly, I'm surprised this was not picked up earlier by Jagex; many other MMORPGs I have played have benefited from special XP and/or drop events. The average player enjoys a more positive gameplay experience and the fluctuation in the market allow for good, non-destructive merchanting. I think the only way this whole idea could be botched would be if this happens too often or gives too much XP- atm the amount of time you have to gain a sizable amount of experience seems quite acceptable. I say good job to Jagex for finally implementing this!
  17. You can bring both if you don't want to take the time to bank all the bones. Use up your BoB food as you eat and then dismiss when empty. Then summon your bunyip. If your only going to bring one I would bring a BoB though- extra food + banking those bones make it the best choice.
  18. Well no, thats not what I'm implying really. What I would like to know is if there are any trends to suggest that Spirit Shields will have reduced price due to a larger supply and if it is feasible for them to be in the "general" market in the near future.
  19. This has probably been asked a million times before, but I only read this topic from time to time. Please don't chastise me for asking if its been answered :-? What I would like to have some information on is the state of Spirit Shields and how close they are to being sold on the GE. With all the recent updates you would think that Corporal Beast trips would become more frequent and a much greater number of SS would make it into the marketplace. However it seems like they are hardly ever being traded in the system. Are these just being artificially held at a high price? Seeing as anyone doing Corp. trips is most likely an experienced and wealthy player I would believe most of them would avoid anything that would bring the price down. But now as more and more people can take down the beast, will the price finally be on the general marketplace?
  20. I generally loose my mind and give in when attempting some of the grindfest ways of making money many people use. After coming back to Runescape at the beginning of summer I have doubled and then tripled my wealth to about 35m casually. You are guaranteed over 1m a week through Manage Thy Kingdom (if you keep up with it once or twice a week) and slaying gets progressively more profitable as you level up (not to mention training many skills at once!) A casual herb run in between tasks or quests can also stack up nicely. I started with around your levels when I came back. For me its all about staying interested- as a result I keep entertained with clan mates to pass time during boring tasks and try to do new and interesting things when I get the urge (unless its completely a waste of time). Also the way I go about money goals is picking out an item that I really want or would help me train and building up the cash for it. Getting free pineapples/seaweed/battlestaves can help also. I use Qeltar's guides on his website also- if you need some cash fast thats the place to look- the free section was just updated so the methods are "fresh".
  21. Erichermit's topic has the most comprehensive guide to ether ranging or meleing these guys. You can find it here: Misunderstood Monsters Personally, I don't last too long and kill around 15 a trip and bank all the bones. Thats with a terrorbird full of food+ Super atack/str. Bring something for your special attack bar and use pray boosts for that special. I'm not too high leveled tho so you may not want to bank the bones if you can stay longer than your inventory would permit. There is an altar and an obelisk on the way if you are running from draynor to the dungeon- so no good reason not to use a familiar and prays for your specials. Also the Lumby ring is a good fast tele if you get in trouble and doubles as a pretty quick banking method. The fairy ring is faster however you loose an inventory space as you should keep a quick tele in your inventory.
  22. If you read my post you would know that I looked at both the tip.it bestiary and the wiki. The obvious gaps in the drop tables is referring to how it says a Greater Reborn Ranger drops the dragon spear but not any gems or a half shield (something that is inconsistant to every other monster that drops spears/halfs) as well as me getting drops that are not on the list such as a Maple shortbow (u). Obviously this just means that sufficient testing has not gone into the drops. The wiki seems to be more "full" but nothing there can be taken for face value (especially where it says the rangers drop blue charms over 60% of the time :P). It seems odd that someone would lie about those drops seeing as they are not particularly shocking as you would see in traditional wiki-troll fashion. The whole reason I posted here was to get information that is NOT available on this site or the wiki that someone in the community may know about. To Sman's post: Yea its probably doubtful they are counted in the "volcanic creature" section- only wishful thinking; I do wonder why they chose to say "Volcanic Creatures" instead of just Tzhaar tho..
  23. For the first time in a long while I completed the Distraction/diversion at the Phoenix Lair. Of curiosity I went up to look up the drop tables of the Reborn Ranger/Warrior/Mage creatures inside the lair. Both the RS Wiki and Tip.it have obvious gaps in the drop tables, but something caught my eye: The wiki states that Greater Rangers drop Seercull bows, Greater Warriors drop Dragon Longswords, and Greater Mages drop Mystic lava staffs. Now obviously they are not too common if true but it made me wonder... has anyone seen if these count as "Volcanic Creatures"? If so they could make for an alternative to the new task given by Kuradal. They drops are pretty decent anyways and the whole cave could be cleared with ease if you had a familiar to hold some extra food. I would test this myself if I had the levels to get task from her. In short, has anyone any experience in killing a sizable amount of these creatures in the phoenix lair and/or seeing if they work for that slayer task without taking the Fight Cave Challenge?
  24. They are the best ranging boots, and the nearest alternative is a 5 range difference. Also not many people do level 2 clues, so supply is pretty low. Ok, but I have a small issue with that explanation. In all on 2008 the price was in between 4-6m, and in this year so far it has risen at an exponential rate that does not seem logical to me if the demand is the major reason- if anything there should be more of them than there was in 2008. I realize that there has been inflation- but I don't think that the over-hyped rate of inflation could account for this. Perhaps I am just beating a dead horse and its just people picking up on a trend?
  25. Ok so I'm a BIG TIME Tip.it lurker- but I have a question that has been bothering me recently: Why are Ranger boots going so high- they are up too 16m just today. I have planned for a while to get some, but now the price is kinda crazy for what you get. Does anyone know if this rise is purposeful and if so, when do you think the price will fall?
