  1. Runeshark did a video of places to use the PPS and another of places NOT to use the PPS. Saradomin was a definite no-no. He was splashing on her QUITE often, and the minion attacks were tearing him up in his mage gear (not that the latter matters so much in a mass), and if I remember right he was wearing Virtus, so can't really get much better than that... Melee or Ranged are MUCH better options for Sara. Well if you read this, you see: Now cls+divine isn't as accurate as maul obviously, but the leech defence benefits the cls as well... and frankly I trust Latin more than I trust RuneShark.
  2. I'm not sure what the dps increase of another 5 ranged attack is, but let's say you use a soul wars cape/elite void skirt/acp for a nice +17 prayer bonus. Your base drain is 10 points/second (2/3 rigour 1/3 prot melee), multiplied by 30/47, so 300/47. On the other hand you have a setup with 5 more ranged attack and 5 prayer bonus. Base drain 10/s and effective drain 300/35. E.g. one setup will allow you to last roughly a third longer (little less because you need to carry more overloads/familiars etc. but a little more because the higher prayer bonus allows more restore through renewals. So yeah). 30857 and 22978 prayer per hour respectively. 6000 can be restored by renewals, so you need 24857 and 16978 points respectively. 307 points per regular prayer dose. That's 81 doses per hour vs. 55 doses, roughly. You got ~3 doses stored in your prayer level so there's some leeway plus you can always bring 1 flask or something. So the high-ranged setup will allow 3 ovl/renewal + 19-20 pray pots and 2-3 other items. The setup with more prayer would have only 14-15 pray pots, enough to last 1 more overload - 4 ovl/renewal + 19 pray pots + 1 more item (I suppose you'll want to flask your ovl/renewal at this point and save 2 spaces that way). The question is, does +5 ranged attack beat having to bank one extra time every 4 hours.
  3. Acceptable safe threshold roughly equals max hit, but that only applies in edge fights where you can run if you have high hp. In things like competetive ffa clan wars, people safe/prot pray etc. because there's much more at stake & no chance to run. everything = ok No need for future tense. Also, fun game. Rank 74 all-time atm (like 10% off rank 1 though >.>).
  4. I would use a Soul Wars cape but not a fury. 12 prayer vs. 5 ranged attack or 5 prayer vs. 5 ranged attack, there's quite a difference.
  5. Staffs are two handed, so no dual poly pore or SOA. You don't need the staff to cast SoA. If you can cast it at what is the equivalent in the current system of 3 ticks, it'd be very powerful, even without a shield to boost accuracy.
  6. That's lame :(. Blood is supposed to be earth, shadow is supposed to be fire, but they don't get it >.>.
  7. Not "worth" it as such if you value slayer xp, but vyrewatch with a maxed polearm are good (150k/hr or so) and skeletal monkeys with iron titan still works.
  8. Bandos has more ranged defence, hence why you would use it for tanking ranged. DFS is a about five million, look up prices here. If you want to figure out what works for you, use the Tip.It sort by stats function and just select the defence bonus you need.
  9. Eh, if you're tanking melee attacks on a budget, you wear torag's + dfs. If you tank mage attacks on a budget, royal dragonhide or ganodermic (which you can't wear yet, as you need 80 ranged/85 defence respectively). If you're tanking ranged attacks on a budget, you wear the same as for melee attacks. Bandos is a tiny tiny bit better but more expensive.
  10. I don't know about controlled but it was confirmed that all weapons will be able to train all stats associated with them. So magic/ranged will be given the option to train pure defence as well, whips will be able to train strength etc.
  11. The cover illustrations of the Dutch HP series are much better than the British imo. They don't show any characters with distinguishing features, so your imagination can do the work. Especially the Philosopher's Stone has a horrible cover imo :/. Also, books :ohnoes:.
  12. Because dragons and giants are realistic, right? Yes, they are. In the sense that they are consistent with the laws of the game universe as far as we know. We also know most basic laws of nature seem to be in effect, which begs the question how we are able to reload a crossbow without hands.
  13. Tanking means focusing on defence. It can be versus any enemy whatsoever (but usually only the ones with high dps vs. players). When I said energy transfer, I meant that for team pvm your special energy would be better used by someone else, maxed w/ claws. And no gear suggestions is because you didn't ask a question that anyone could answer accurately. Tanking is just as diverse as any facet of combat. Equipment suitable for one place might get you killed in another (Torva at Nex).
  14. They confirmed in the video that due to graphic issues, they couldn't allow dual wield whips. However EEE will be the off-hand version of the whip. Edit: ninja :(.
  15. Tank what? In general, no, let someone maxed tank. Then again, if you want to be cannon fodder the maxed person can claw spec better :P. (learn energy transfer for that)
  16. Yeah you can, but it's 2ticks slower than medium (rapid), so it's quite a bit slower. Two? That's curious, it should be one. Are you sure?
  17. I believe it's 11 moves for full points, and your partner can just take a setup with just enough scouts that you can kill them in 11 moves.
  18. I really like how they found a use for Excalibur as the best (non-degradable, presumably) off-hand weapon. Kinda changes the entire style of the weapon, but it's still useful, until you get another rapier. The 150% dps with two-handed weapons corresponds to the same dps for 4 and 6 tick weapons (e.g. rapier and maul) so I think it's perfectly fair to do, provided the accuracy/defence+overkill tradeoff is balanced*. Hybrid dual wielding is awesome and I hope it will work for all style combinations, and work well (armour-wise too). Higher max = more overkill, so fast, low-hitting weapons are better @ the same dps. One-handed weapons also have the advantage that you can dual-wield or use a shield, so 2h weapons need to be waaay more accurate to make up for that. Edit@above: 100 attack/strength doesn't tear through 300 defence, and don't forget that strength bonus tears through hp, not defence. In a torva vs. torva melee fight, you'll have ridiculously low accuracy (cls+divine or maul/divine flashing both).
  19. Moved to Help&Advice :).
  20. Two rapiers ???? that'd maybe make slayer & trainer faster. Seriously, the crossbow dual wielding is as unrealistic as idk what (magic I suppose), but the knives is fun. The hybrid ranged/melee dual wield is also great to see, as stupid as it is irl, it does give a reassurance that hybriding will be viable. Honestly the graphics and new stuff (fingers! hotkeys!) almost make me forgive the stupidity of the new combat level formula/xp penalty for training on low levels.
  21. as far as I know, even the half xp spots are better xp/hr than the normal outside-of-dg spots. I think its best to do them. But I am not certain. I do them because it takes me nearly as long to not do them if there is more than 1 spot in a room. Definitely do them. The overhead on clearing GDs etc. is quite large, and the raw xp/hr of spots is very high (300k+).
  22. ^I agree with overloads on glacors, provided you have a titan. I wouldn't hunt tds with claws so cheap, but for tds extremes work fine for ranged/melee but overloads are better for mage/melee. Rigour + piety is better than turmoil + leech ranged also, so unicorn > turm. Turmoil is crucial for corping. Overloads + yak for Nex (+ gear requirements and max combat). For GWD, I'd say turmoil, for the added melee dps, but ideally you get ovls+turm.
  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZMoB6ms2mE&feature=context-shows The entire performance is great, this is just one scene :D. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asUyK6JWt9U (not technically stand-up but it's awesome)
  24. You can also use magic with polypore/leech magic etc. which is apparently fairly effective. While you're at it, tell me if it makes the melee attack weaker (leech magic, that is) :D.
