  1. That's why offense is taken, not given.
  2. Could someone explain what the alleged perpetrator has done that makes them an 'ignorant hypocrite'? I really couldn't see what's wrong with that clip.

I know this sounds silly, but how about a dartboard featuring a person he despises as the board?
  4. Indeed, it's possible to gain a new outlook or perspective upon life upon a revelation - I've been through many similar phases myself so I'd certainly know how it feels to be in such a situation. I find myself wandering - why do we ask philosophical questions? The only true answer lies within oneself. It is, perhaps, that our lives are without meaning or divine purpose, but why should that stop us living life to it's fullest potential? Hmm.
  5. The fundamental arguments for marijuana in itself doesn't fail - it's the way advocates tend to present them - much of the time in a very exaggerated fashion.

We can list physical ailments of any substance if we're vague enough... In response to your post: The potentially lung damaging effects of smoke occurs in all carcinogens - it's not a unique property of cannabis use. It's also worth noting that it's not cannabis that's the true cause either - cannabis, if consumed without the use of smoking (such as with a bong), will incur no adverse lung effects to the user. There's no evidence that a user will incur mental conditions as a direct result of cannabis use - and should it be true, it doesn't tell us how significant this impairment will be. In regards to the sperm count - it seems rather trivial, but as stated above, results vary too widely to produce accurate judgements. The alleged effects that 'affect motivation/mood' may be a result of gaining a new perspective as cannabis use enhances the human perceptions. It may not be an adverse effect as you'd suggest, either - who's to say that it wouldn't operate in a positive way - i.e. making one more motivated, or satisfied? The claim regarding 'anxiety/paranoia' lacks evidence. In regards to the claim about motor skill impairment; although true, the user is typically aware of their impairment, so they'd drive cautiously. The same cannot be said for alcohol - alcohol consumption falsely boosts their confidence regarding their driving ability, so they'd take more risks - this coupled with the effects of motor-skills impairment is the cause of reckless driving. Oh, and it's easier to come off cannabis as opposed to alcohol too. I see no moral qualms with cannabis consumption - why should the Government stop users if the users want to take it?
  7. I've never actually used this thread despite being here for more than 3 years. Hello, you may know me as a cynic that enjoys criticizing... everything. I'm always up for a good discussion, and stuff.
  8. You mean legitimacy, right? If you weren't editorial staff, I might have made some sarcastic comment back at you. :( How does being editorial staff stop you abusing him? In fact, I'd argue that we bare some of the harshest criticisms on this site. EDIT - Oh wait, he corrected your terminology usage and he's part of the Editorial Panel. I gets it now.
  9. In essence, what are you trying to say? It seems like the 'Efficiency' thread in disguise.
  10. I apologize for reviving an old topic, but it completely skipped my mind that in America-land, it'll exclude those between the ages of 13-20, given that alcohol laws are more restrictive in the USA. Is this a significant factor that players have neglected?

Slight digression; Do you drink for the taste, or the effect? Maybe both?
  12. Surely that ought to be 'I couldn't care less'. Indeed, that's why it annoys me. If a person says that, I automatically think 'Well, why don't you care less about it then? Could you start caring less?' I'd just tell them exactly that.
  13. Surely that ought to be 'I couldn't care less'. :P OT, people that absolutely will not listen to reason, or in some cases, even listen. People that choose to walk away from or ignore an argument. I would much rather each thing be resolved as it comes up, and that can't happen if you're not willing to discuss it reasonably or at all. It really does depend on whether the argument in itself has any inherent value - an argument about abortion is less relevant to a non parent as opposed to an argument about the value of education, which pertains towards life in general. I can understand why people may shy away from controversy - but it does depend on context and content. I dislike the fact that trolls actually believe that they're good at trolling - many times, they're simply using that as an excuse in an attempt to shrug off a failed argument. Bah.

  15. tgfkjgftr I prefer using the nose with a time limit.
  16. Does this include your ingame experiences? Does this include any bullying/harassment you may have received during your childhood? Does this include every heartbreak you've had, every ounce of suffering you've endured, every depression phase, etc.? It's a sad fact, but it's easy to suppress feelings and memories of the hard times.

Drugs - it's a term that describes any substance that when absorbed into the body, the substance would subsequently have a direct influence on a person's physical or mental state. We often use the term to refer to narcotic, psychoactive drugs that enhance recreational experience - many of which that are controversial for legal/cultural/religious reasons. A drug in particular - Marijuana, has been subjected to great controversy. Due to state regulation, as well as federal regulation - the possession, distribution and use of Marijuana is strictly prohibited. It's physically impossible to overdose on Marijuana, and its addictive nature is lower than that of caffeine. The use of marijuana has very few adverse effects on the mind/body - to a much lesser degree than that of legal drugs such as tobacco or alcohol. It calls into question; why is Marijuana illegal in the first place? Why shouldn't we legalize it? A broader question still; Would it be a good idea to legalize all drugs? For some extra insight on Marijuana use; Discuss.
  18. What's your accuracy like?
  19. Banned for applying subjective values to others.

  21. I prefer to draw data from the BBC websites - good reputation for being objective.
  22. But then we get back to the point of domestic vs international travel meaning US has 5:1 population over the UK so does it really show a fair result if America wins on mere population numerics, where as if you weight it etc interest % could be higher for uk. It's not only the UK voting for London, but most likely the majority of players in all of Europe. Someone pointed out earlier that Europe has over twice the population of the USA, so wouldn't that show much more interest for taking RuneFest abroad next time? A LOT of Europeans don't even speak English (or the other languages Runescape is available in), so population counts are mostly irrelevant. It's pretty obvious it's going to be in the USA after seeing the poll. Though it still irks me when people are making up crazy reason London is more "deserving" or Runefest. UK had it twice, give us Americans a chance, okay? inb4 umpteen more pages of "Jagex is a British company - keep RF in the UK" I think the more relevant questions would be - of those categories, which parts of the market are more loyal to the RuneScape? Why not both locations on an annual basis (one during Easter, one during Winter)? Is there any alternative forms of conventions that could be hosted, should the location not be chosen? Bah, I still don't want to travel internationally to go to a convention. Hmmph.
  23. Banned for ascribing negative connotations to homosexuality.
  24. The language isn't harder - you're just less used to it. Think about it; How often do you use French in day to day conversation, as opposed to English?
  25. Is there any point to typing any faster than 100wpm, though? Unless the job role is data input, I can't see any practical uses for anything beyond 100. In response to the natural tendency to try harder; I find that I type at a better pace if I don't 'try' to type fast, as making the effort is likely to cause more typing mistakes due to poorly allocating concentration.
