What is your personal favourite?
Hey all! This is my first thread, so hopefully I will not dissapoint too much! I personally adore slayer, and have been doing task after task whenever I get the chance. We all have our monsters we like, and on the contrary, do not like. I would like you all to get involved in this thread and note down:- which slayer monsters you enjoy killing? Which slayer monsters do you sigh at when you get assigned? I would also, like to know the reasons why? Obviously, people play the game for different reasons, so this may be brilliant xp rates, good drops, monster has high Hp etc etc Personally, I enjoy killing kurasks and turoths! To be honest, my reasons may seem stupid, but I like the drops as most of them stack! If you are willing to validate ideas and present evidence, then feel free to argue about xp rates, drop rates etc. I am interested in well thought out studies, so be my guest! Thanks and Enjoy!!!

Safing? Really noobish or just a tactic?
So there are people out there that are not ignorant. To sum up, if you are not willing to die, do not PK. Also, if you safe, you are almost never going to get a kill without umbelieveable "undeserved" luck. Stick your [blanks] on the line, and the risk WILL pay off!

Partyhats. Really Discontinued?
Good thread topic. I must admit, I have never even thought about it before! haha Im afraid that it is a really simple concept to grasp. Someone earlier in the thread nailed it hard on! There are a set number of crackers. This does not increase under any circumstances. All crackers contain a partyhat. It does not matter if they are contained within the cracker, or they are "made" on the time of opening, the fact that there is a certain number of partyhats means it is discontinued.

Lucky? How am I lucky?
I think you are all taking what they mean to be literal. For one, I cannot see why you would be annoyed at their statements. I am almost certain that they just think you are lucky to be using, wielding, having that skill because of the doors it opens up to you. All "noobs" dream of hitting hard, making cash etc. They are only envious of you and your work to have those items. Unless they specifically suggest you didnt work for your achievement, you cannot assume there intended meaning. Also, I hear people moaning about the average age of RSers being 12 or w.e (bs) all the time on here. It is not like they are saying anything offensive, so say thanks and walk on by, dont hate on him/her for not being as specific as you want them to be. To be honest, I think you are all crying out for attention. Because you have 99 this, 99 that, you want every character that walks past to say "wow!!! You put soooo much work and effort into that skill!! I could never do that! You are better than me!" Pathetic really in my oppinion.

Farcasters and Safers
Ok, here is my oppinion on the words as stated in the thread title "safer" and "farcasting" First, I will address the word safer. I know Pking is near enough dead (barely profitable), but the rule on eating is undetermined and unenforceable, if you are a Pker, respect is paramount. Stats are not the only thing that makes someone a good Pker! Yes, people prefer to live and not lose there stuff, but if you are not willing to lose your items, either 1) take stuff you are willing to lose, or 2) Do not PK!!! The wildy was a place to risk armour and weapons, in the hope of a Kill. However, if you safe, AKA eating before a KO is possible (eg 31/32 in F2P or approx 45 to 50 in P2P), then where is the fun? Wasted food and pots etc for no chance of a kill. If you are not willing to risk dont PK. I can understand "eating" if the person is being multied, or skilling in the wilderness, but any other time, it is in my oppinion disrespectful. You may think I am lying, (proof on u tube "i thur i"), but I would respect a guy/girl that does not safe no end more than someone that does. I would rather die not safing and know i fought willingly to not just stand my ground, but to actually commit to a fight.

I have a life! I only play 2 hours a month of runescape!
I have to say, i was going to write this almost word for word, but you beat me to it. Take a few hours a day off but you get the picture. We all have lives, and the fact im maxed out? 6 years! And even if someone does play a long time, thats there choice, they have the spare time so they spend it how they like. You cannot assume they have no social life etc P.S. I have been thinking about this topic for a while now, so I must say great rant!

A little experiment:
You people are worse than the people moaning about being lured! Thats right...WORSE! The lured are warned they are entering the wilderness, however, they continue on in (for one of many reasons eg greed, temporary blindness etc etc). However, you RCers have the nerve to complain, when you VOLUNTARILY enter the wilderness. You know you will be attacked, as there is no forgiving in the wildy. You have other options of RCing, so use them or deal with the risk. PS your stating that they dont fight back and are weak pkers etc. So why is it a problem? Your contradicting yourself!

CANNONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
actually they are 600k. i guess thats only about 10 mins for some of us, but still, there are many, many itums that are much cheaper than it. I thought they did... and isnt that why you're ranting in the first place? he must have an amazing ranging level, if it hits constant 30s. he must have an amazing hacking level too, because last I checked you cant hit other players with a cannon. hmmm... I cant even tell what this is supposed to mean at all... You speak rubbish! Putting it bluntly, you obviously have problems with language. Even though it is by no means perfectly written, use your common sense, and the thread title to understand what he is saying. I have multiple issues with your reply:- 1) He never mentioned hitting players! 2) Making 600k in 10 minutes? Especially with your obvious lack of intelligence, i severely doubt you make that money. 3) If someone causes more damage they get the drop? What is there not to get? He loses the loot to the cannon!

Bounty Hunter is HORRIBLE!
This topic gets to me! I have to say, BH is as near to real PKing as it can be, without allowing RWTing. The idea is to hunt your target on the screen, so if you do that, the 3 minute period is non-applicable! Another thing, if you are not prepared to be destroyed even though you have been killed by a clan, then why would you go back over and over? The thread owner has posted that he has returned on at least 2 occasions and yet he is moaning about it? Seriously, the complaints about BH are really pathetic. You have a choice not to play it. You know you will lose stuff on death, so dont go on about money lost. It is clearly stated you lose items on death, so that is NO a legitimate argument. PvP is here!!!! Rants over right? O look, people complaining again! P.S.S. whoever said a difference is no teleblocking is obviously not intelligent enough to even play BH, so to expect to win is beyond me!

Black Mask- Why only Melee?
I'm afraid I disagree with the idea of a bonus for magers and rangers! As was mentioned above, meleers have to take hits no matter what, where as many rangers and magers camp as they usually have an option of hiding. Therefore, the speed of a task is probably similar as most people need to bank through a task. I also agree with the cannon theory! If a ranger had a mask and cannoned on slayer, it would be ridiculous. Also, it is not like you are restricted to range or mage, you do have an option to melee!

Random Events Steals Our Time!
Randoms are not all bad! Yes they can get annoying, but get over it! At the end of the day, it is for our benefit, not an attempt by JAGEX to screw with us. I am all for anything that stops RWT, and that includes the GE and trade limits. It takes a minute to complete a random at most on all, and to the guy complianing about a ranarr drop? Serioulsy, is 5k is worth crying about?

Runners in Fist of Guthix
Great post! Might sound bad, but I have never played the game, however, I completely support! The reason is that back in the old PKing days, the number of people that called you a run noob, or would say "dont tele noob" etc would be incredible! Why? The idea of the game is to survive, as I gather is the idea of Fist of Guthix. So why would anyone stand and take a bashing when they could run? It is not illegal or Jagex would take movement off during combat. Teleporting? If you have the runes in your inventory or a staff etc why not use it? If people are going to be like that go to level 20 wilderness where it is actually a rule that you cannot teleport!! So, I support the thread owners rant, and apply this situation to all games within RS. Who would lose, when they could run? Be a warrior and dont be pushed around! You might think you will get respect, but you inadvertantly wont! Have some self respect and do all that it takes to win the game! PS Quality, well written thread!

clue scrolls
I personally think of clues as an exciting change to training etc Its like a lottery, you find a ticket on the floor, and you hope it will be a jackpot! Will it be? Most likely not, but there is that small chance of picking up a life changing sum. In reality, that slight glimmer of hope is the reason people these days put a couple of pounds aside for the lottery! I say dont give up! If you dont try, there will always be that inkling in the back of your mind "what if...?"

Consistency in combat
Here is my oppinion on the matter. Attack levels are the training of creating damage eg a 1 or above. So a level 60 attack will hit less often with the same weapon as someone with 70 attack. However obvious this is, a lot of you are stating you do not understand that! Strength is trained to increase the power of each attack, but as this is not the problem here, i shall go no further on that. Here goes a rant of my own....most the people here i assume have played the game for at least a few months, and yet you have not figured that RS is primarily luck? I have 99 attack, and sure enough I hit 0s every now and again, sometimes in a row as stated by the thread owner. Yeah i may get slightly frustrated, and think come on hit! like i bet a lot of people think to themselves haha, but to be honest if we hit the same damage every time, i for sure would be bored! This, although maybe not directly relevant comes onto drop rates. Some people kill 1 monster and get a visage, others are yet to obtain one after months of camping. Unfair? Maybe so, but if everyone got one for sure after say 1000 kills, the value would drop and so it would no longer be an achievement. If RS changed to a non-random simulator, a rare drop would no longer be an achievement! Same goes for hitting damage. People suggest a guaranteed hit? Whats the point in defence? Strength wins everytime in that case, therefore making 2 of the 3 combat skills pointless. Anyone heard of the lvl 126 (f2p) who got killed in the original wildy by a pure strength with 60 attack (1 iteming basically), even though he was wearing barrows armour? If you didnt have that luck factor, the game would be too one sided, and unsuspected pking victories like this would not happen. period! I have to feel for the thread owner for getting knocked about by a random NPC, but it happens to everyone at some point! Conclusion - Imagine this scenario.... Two guys in a pub have an argument, it gets out of hand and a fighjt starts outside. One is muscular and well built, the other an average bloke. You expect the strong guy to win right? He can miss? exactly. Probably because he is drunk but you know haha 90% of the time he would win, but the other 10% he misses and gets beaten. Stats on RS represent an average. Stats do not lie, but it is not a scientific guarantee! Random is more fun!! PS Not aimed at any particular person.

Noobody loves Noobs!
In runescape, or any anonymous situation, people tend to do what they enjoy - which, given the demographics of runescape players, seems to be to look out for themselves and not care about others. It could be even simpler then that - I had a level 33 running around following me begging to be my friend a few days ago. I said no and teled - many previous experiences have taught me that random newbs want me to hold their hand, come running whenever a big, nasty level 100 insults them, and give them free stuff. As for LOTF, I am using that as an example; I agree with quite a bit of it. The thread owner is complaining about being ignored, extinguished from play due to being new and unexperienced....and yet your giving an example of a player who wanted your help and was even wanting to be your friend to ignore him? hipocritical if you ask me! Your just proving your no better than the people calling others noobs! Why not give the level 33 a chance before passing judgement? I have people wanting to be my friends, I say yes. They may be after my wealth at first, but give them a point in the right direction, no one gets bothered by them again.

Slayer
I also dislike fire giants. They dont drop many good items, and the number of times i have forgotten an axe or 890 coins is umbelievable! lol I also had a loop, however mine were really good! I think it was basilisks, turoths, KURASKS and i think maybe blue dragons! And, the person who said you can change a loop? Not a chance....RS is luck! same goes for slayer!

Slayer Sucks
287. Ok, I am new to this, so hello to all! First of all I would like to talk about the whole abuse of high levels for having a low level on a certain skill, in this instance slayer. There is a reason people have low levels, this usually being not enjoying the skill! This is therefore an absurd case for any argument! If this is the case, you are suggesting a player that is level 138 must have 99 slayer to be a good player? sad really. I, as a level 131, find slayer to be very safe, as with 99 defence you would expect. Therefore, the costs you suggest are debatable and vary considerably. For one, I use monkfish, say 20 for a difficult task. 20 times 400 is 8k. I find that on an average task, I can make an absolute minimum of 50k. I also think that although you have included the costs of pots, a lot of people i talk to doing slayer do not for some reason pot! How can you expect to get fast xp unpotted? So on this basis, this proves that xp rates are not that important to slayers! Ok, onto xp. I personally do not train for combat xp, but you may have forgotten that you get the xp of the attk, str or defence on top of the slayer xp. Even if it is broken up due to changing tasks, the xp rate is therefore usually at least reasonable. Also, the low xp rate is a reason why the skillcape is such a well regarded cape! Although it is not particularly difficult as such, it is VERY time consuming! Goes on the saying that the more you put into something, the more you get out of it? In the case of slayer, that can be either the money gained on task (obviously disputed somewhat), or just the enjoyment and satisfaction gained from the cape Armour and equipment? Don't take things you are not prepared to lose! On this subject, slayer is probablyone of the only profitable skills available, and for people with low income is a way i generally suggest to those wanting money. Maybe not at low levels, but you can not name any skill at a level lower than say 50 that actually gains you cash. Finally, I have to say your post has addressed most points, and i understand people have different oppinions. Like in other threads, you have the option to play the game as you wish! Games are played primarily for the fun factor, and so how can you criticise how someone wishes to play. For example, the thread owner obviously enjoys seeing his levels rise fast. That is completely reasonable, however, some people are not interested in just xp rates. Thanks for anyone that read this post, and I hope you feel I have considered both views on the topic.
