  1. Totally trying this too... If only I wasn't with my girlfriend so much! Haha. Still... Let's do this@
  2. Here's hoping! And haha aye :D No RSI for moi! Least the action bar has a use for me!
  3. Girlfriend has been getting in the way! Plus work a bit too... Aaaaaaaaaaand I missed Skryim loads! Still have Dragonborn and Dawnguard to run through, plus have loads of quests to do anyways, Daedric, Civil War etc :P I've taken all the advice on board from you guys who have commented and will be trying to 99 most skills over the summer when I get a lot more free time to do so... So I may well end up close to max before the new skills are out, or at least all 90/92+ (92+ is the main aim I guess). So life update: Back at uni since Tuesday last week, and as said above girlfriend and Skyrim have kinda taken up most of my time recently. Also sent my lecturers drafts of my essays. One told me that it was of a high post-grad standard, and the other I'm seeing on Friday to go through one and chat about another assessment. So it's all good! Runescape update: Been playing on and off the past week or so, and got these: I can actually stand Draconics as they've been 80-90k/hr atm. So working on 85 Hunter on and off every few days. Plus a funny... Kiln had QCK on the brain the other day:
  4. Profit whilst fletch training. Plus had them free from MTK, so ehhhh. They're close to 100k/hr. I'll settle for any cheap exp atm. Anyways 89 mining: Along with 79 Hunter? New challenge for ezk: 1 hunter level per day. It's actually not so bad :P Better challenge: Giant Chin everyday! Ugh. But k. Here's your photo. Hope you 3 are happy............ Can this skill die yet? Still not getting over 800 points, but eh... What more can I expect when I don't get more than 1FPS cept the odd 20 seconds of 5FPS every 5 minutes or so down there. Using up that damned Xmas bonus exp, will end up 80 Hunt with a tiny bit left over on Sunday at 1am. Thank God for small mercies. Then to figure out whatever with trying to get Hunt to 85. 90's aren't even an option yet. Just the thought that at 85 I'll be 2m off 90 makes me wana hurt something. Whilst I've been talking to Dan via text, he's offered to show me traps again if I hit 80... So I just wonder who's patience is gona break first doing it...
  5. Serious Post! Maxing? Completionist? Or #NeverMax/NeverComp? Right... Now... Since I'm about 2 and a half hours away from 89 mining and 2410 total I thought I'd bring forward the time of making a rather important mathsy, inefficient post for most comp capers to have a look at. In fact this has taken me the past 2 hours to write up (dinner time included) so I'm posting it and then will deal with replying to posts that cropped up during writing time after :P This post is in fact all the fault of Octarine - so feel free to blame him for making me write this! Though... This will perhaps either prove a useful tool for me towards maxing some skills, or be a complete and utter failure making me realise that maxing will take forever and an age to do and scare me to the point of "why bother?"... I'm so hoping it's the former. Anyways the big question that gets bounded around between my friends and I is "Maxing?" It's one of the reasons why some of my posts recently have been in a rather meh mood, even though most of them are 99's or skills getting towards the 90's, and it's also part of the title of this blog. The #NeverMax perhaps being more appropriately changed to #NeverComp? I'm not even sure yet. Right now, I'm sat with 87 levels (soon to be 86) left for the current maximum total level and so Dan's suggested to do a breakdown of time/effort/methods/whatever for people like Gwynrynryrnrynrn, Mierin (Q), Sir Jeremy and other maxed/comp capers to look at and give an input on and to make sure I have my calculations right. Hell even any non-compers are welcome to have an input in this discussion! NB: It is worth noting though that I have virtually 0 form of income on this game anymore. EoC stripped any and all fun in combat I could ever have and turned it into something I don't understand, will never understand, quite frankly don't WANT to understand, and something that I utterly detest. Therefore unless there is something that can be killed easily with momentum for good gp/hr I wont be doing it. The other reason why I hate EoC is that I was already laggy at around 5FPS whenever doing combat already with a peak 15FPS doing bankstanding skills. I tried using abilities during TWW and was constantly reduced to 0-1FPS (mostly 0) with long times on a "Loading - Please Wait..." freeze frame, and quite a few game crashes from the lag too, and so abilities boiled down into me just being like: 37289462384692713640982374235476329583128409230569203 in the vain hope I'd hit the bosses well enough to cope. Ultimately I had to turn it off and finish off the final battles with momentum due to the frustration of lagging and dying so many times. (Total of 15 deaths at the end of it). Also herb running? I have 9 farming juju left and no plans to get any any time soon... What do? Other than that my only form of income is waiting on scrolls and trade goods in PoP in order to make and sell armours and scrimshaws for ever decreasing amounts of money. So let the breakdown commence: The idea so far that I have for skilling on this game may be foolhardy or it may be a blessing. I don't even know. Whilst, yes, there's a certain fantastic thing about blitzing out a 99 in a skill straight over a matter of days, perhaps balancing it will help keep me interested in a game that has recently done everything in its power to make itself as unattractive a prospect to pass time with as possible. The current plan, therefore, is to balance the skills I have left (minus Hunter) and then raise them in a rotation, one at a time, until each are maxed. Once each skill is 91, the rotation would work and collect the other skills, for example: Mining 91-92 Thieving 91-92 Woodcut 91-92 RC 91-92 Cons 91-92 And then they would pick up fishing which would then be added to the list etc. I probably didn't need to break it down anyways for you, but useful tool for me to stick to anyways. Now onto the exp: NB: The values might be slightly thrown off due to the 43 or so effigies I have left in my bank. Mining. Current level: 88 - 8,410,474 XP remaining to 99. Method: Mining concentrated gold ore in LRC and dropping via action bar. 22 urns in inventory, lava titan, full mining outfit (varrock plate instead of gold chest obvs), rock crushing scrimshaws, dragon pick. I don't have juju and wont be getting 80 Hunter any time soon. So unfortunately that little bit of AFK. Exp/hr = 90-95k Total time: 93.4/88.5 hours remaining. Agility: I'm relying on the 43 odd effigies I have left in my bank to sort this. Failing that: Current level: 97 - 2,341,347 XP remaining to 99. Method: Barbarian Advanced Course Exp/hr = 69k at max apparently. So I'm going to take the conservative value of 60k/hr to account for lag and other such things. Total Time: 39.02 hours remaining. (Not as bad as I thought it would be! :o) Fishing: Now this will be a point of contention. I really have a severe hatred for EoC and the entire system that came to be employed in the game as a result of it. So ultimately, unless I was threatened with death and someone was standing over me to carry out the threat, C2ing is out of the picture. And quite frankly I dislike the idea of drop fishing at Barbarian advanced. I will probably be using my Christmas pudding pendant and Prized Prismatic Pendant on this too, and more than likely throwing Penguin points at it. Current level: 92 - 5,929,647 XP remaining to 99. Method: Monkfish/Rocktails Exp/hr = 40k/hr (last I heard on Monkfish, dunno about with Fishing outfit etc). Rockatils to my knowledge are 60k/hr and can be up to 100k/hr with CotS4, but the LRC worlds make me lag to the point of RS shutting itself down and Living Rock Strikers make it a method not worth doing if I'm trying on anything else. Total Time: 148.24 hours remaining... Thieving: I have no patience for Monkey Knife Fighters, nor the wish for any RSI's :P So Pyramid Plunder is the way to go for this, unless there is another laid back method like it? Current level: 91 - 6,877,252 XP remaining to 99. Method: Pyramid Plunder Exp/hr = 15-18k/5 minute run. SO for the sake of accounting lag, the odd forgetful non-sceptre recharge, and the occasional banking let's say - 150k-180k/hr. Total Time: I was thinking on this and it's really a week if I wanted to do a level a day. But anyways for the sake of formality and consistency: 45.8/38.2 hours remaining. Fletching: This is a source of constant chat between Dan and myself, and now Q has gotten involved with it! It comes down to whether I want to spend around 7m(ish) doing a highly AFK, probably inefficient mode of Fletching, or the hyperefficient 52.8m cost of Broad Arrows. Whilst the argument for broad arrows is plausable the question is really... Is it even WORTH spending 52m on it? And if it is worth it, how the hell do I raise the money?! Current level: 92 - 6,515,665 XP remaining to 99. Method: Currently - Maple Shieldbow (u) as they're profit. Willing to upgrade to Magic Shieldbow (u). Exp/hr = (wiki says: 97k) 95k - (153k) 150k Total Time: 68.5/43.4 hours remaining. Woodcutting: Current level: 85 - 9,742,653 XP remaining to 99. Method: Ivy with Lumberjack clothing and Beaver familiar. Exp/hr = Well... I ultimately don't know. Figures range from 70k/hr to 100k/hr. So I'll say 85k/hr. Total Time: 114.6 hours remaining. Runecrafting: Current level: 90 - 7,476,189 XP remaining to 99. Method: Runespan. Exp/hr = Well... Again I don't know. Figures go from 70k/hr to 95k/hr at higher levels. So I'll say 90k/hr? Total Time: 83 hours remaining. Construction: Now the problem here is that I've already bought in 25k planks in case there was a BXPW (there hasn't been so far, though I'll wait til June/July to be sure, this will be one of the last 99's I guess? Or if I manage to equal out all of my 99's I'll still raise this... I guess... Iunno, suggestions?). I have a 40m cashpile remaining after getting 99 Herblore yesterday and need another 20m in order to afford the rest of the supplies for 99... Which is why I'm so against the broad arrows for fletching and finding it hard to see their worth AND if either of the new skills require resources etc to be bought in order to advance I'll be stuck with 0 cash if I manage to buy both Cons and Fletch. Current level: 91 - 7,127,711 XP remaining to 99. Method: Mahogany Tables. Exp/hr = No idea. Apparently can hit 500k/hr, but then again I don't have mousekeys, I lag, I'm not good with clicking lots in fast speeds. So I'll say a conservative 120k/hr for me thanks unless you guys can give me something solid. (Outfit - obviously). Total Time: 59.3 hours remaining. Hunter?! Only AFTER all of these are 99 will I even CONSIDER going for 99 Hunter. To put it in easy terms - I hate Hunter MORE than I hate EoC - and to put that into context too, I hate EoC 1,000,000 times MORE than I hated Dungeoneering at the start and it led to the point where I quit the game for 5 months essentially. EoC is THE WORST thing to happen in the entire history of RS in my opinion, and I will NEVER accept it, even if it means I'm locked out of the greater majority of the game as a whole. Therefore my hatred for Hunter is unparalleled in this respect. I detest even going near the skill. Misfortune and exaggerated hopes from people talking XP rates have made this skill the entire reason why Maxing/Comping will probably never happen in this game for me for a good many years yet. The fact is with Hunter the best exp rate I have ever seen was a set of 35k/hours I pulled at Red Sallies between 60 and 65 whilst trying to get a level a day to do Nomad's Requiem. Continually, I would talk in HYT about it, and eventually (I think it was KATKIS) one of them came, observed me, and told me that ultimately I just had bad luck and Hunter was entirely a luck based skill. I was using the best traps shown by everyone who tried to help, I was following the best methods, using 100% concentration, Hunter pots, bear and camo. And whereas they were all saying "Well I get 70k/hr" I was getting half of that. This trend has continued with Common Jadinkos. Octarine got so frustrated with me he ended up forcing me to join him, showing me the best spots to catch commons (and even Ingenious later on when I could get Juju), and once again EoE was ablaze with XP rates that I was getting a third of. The highest XP/hour I have seen doing Hunter at herbitat, with pots, bear and the best Camo I have (I don't have Witchdoctor and probably never will, I don't know what's needed, how to get it, and it all seems random luck anyways from the amount of times people have raged that they didn't get a specific piece but instead the 431297398123 time getting a mask or something) was around 30k/hr, and one set of 32k/hr. Therefore after Fishing and RC are 99, Penguins and lamps and whatever shall be invested in Hunter regardless. It's not like I've not tried Hunter, I have seriously given it a go, I got to level 75 and just gave up. I couldn't physically or mentally sustain any more of it. The XP rate for me is so dire, and I don't know how to improve it. Especially when I do EVERYTHING everyone tells me to do about it, and it still doesn't improve. I have also tried Hunter via the Big Chin project thing, but in over 50 games I never got higher than 800 points. Which is pretty disheartening when considering that Octarines DIYer which has a lower Hunter level than me hit the magic 1,111 point mark and over. So I've given up on that too, because I simply lag way to much to even get anything worthwhile from there. I know, I know people will tell me that XP rates can hit 300k/hr at higher levels - but that's in the 90's. But the problem for me is getting there. I know it improves, but I just can't stomach the idea of spending 122.7 hours attempting to do this. I'd simply end up quitting (although... I still have 193k of bonus XP from Christmas). So... Hunter: Current Level: 78 - 11,371,091 XP remaining to 99. Method: Penguins, Lamps, Effigies (if I ever get any again once this lot is gone), ToG, and MAYBE Big Chin and Herblore Habitat. Exp/hr: If I could stomach it = 30k/hr currently (60k thanks to the bonus exp). Total Time: 5 years just on penguins - 374 hours remaining. No one will be able to convince me otherwise on Hunter... Octarine has even gotten to the point that, like with EoC, he will not talk to me or deal with me when it comes to Hunter because it just frustrates us both too much. TOTAL TIME: 988.26 HOURS/5 YEARS AND 614.26 HOURS TO MAX That's pretty much 1000 hours of playing or to put it another way - 41.17 days (24 hour days) or yet another - 123.5 days on an 8 hour playing schedule if I so chose. Completionist? Now the other fun thing after even considering Max is Comp. I'm 120 DG already, so that's perhaps the biggest requirement done - and quite frankly the reason why I even started skilling in the first place. EoC kinda just accelerated the process when I came back this holiday. Now I took a pic earlier which tells of what I have to do for Comp: I seriously don't even know if I can achieve all of this. The sheer time requirement of this on top of the accumulated 5 years and 614.26 hours (on the optimistic values) Serious value: 988.26 is perhaps too much for me. This would surely add on another HUGE amount of days for the things to do? The levels: Been through that. Quests: Brink of Extinction. Impossible for me to do apparently as you need to use abilities. #1 Bad. Tasks: Need to beat Sunfreet for Desert tasks? Well... GF there. Spells: Just time required... Especially Livid Farm. Kudos: No bloody idea what I have left... I've spoken to EVERYONE there and they don't say anything. Though Octarine suggested trying to find Mr Maudaunt there as he gives some Kudos apparently. Music: Associated with the quest problem in a way. Backstory of DT: Effort and laziness, I guess I'll do it... One day. Clarence: ^ Unabridged Sagas: Combat? Good Luck getting me to try it now with EoC. QBD: Can I momentum her with barrows gear as I wont be able to afford anything more? Don't think so... Claus: Look up 3 tasks. So... Opinions comp capers? It's doable, since hell, those of you I'm asking mostly for input from have all done it. I'm just wondering is it worth my time and effort to even bother? I mean... 1000 hours/5 years of game play is a pretty damn hefty deman. TL;DR? 988.26 Hours/5 Years of Maxing... Worth it? And am I going about most of the methods the right way? Still TL;DR? It is more than likely the case of #NeverMax #NeverComp happening. It's simply too much effort and that sheer amount of time has me scared witless. I'm still 647 or so hours away from Max (in my eyes) even if I don't do Hunter...
  6. :D Thanks! <3: Seriously - proudest level of the day right there and probably biggest achievement of the day! Hahahahaha xD Just the puffing of cinnamon is hilarious, every time trying to talk and *poof* cinnamon everywhere!! Levels so far today: 20something % left on Skoll boots, so I'll probably use that eventually, especially to bring 97-98 in the less than 1m range as 1m to next agil level is daunting! Pic of 89 Mining coming later.
  7. Mhmmm 150 extra bankspace <3: I was stubborn on some things, but will post a bank pic sometime soon :P Still sorting it slightly every day... Making it neater. Today: And yet another 99 down... #NeverMax
  8. I guess I should try and attempt stomaching getting the 10k to 78 Hunter but bleeeeeeeeeeeeeh. Anyways today: Decided rather than focus on getting a Thieving level a day to 99 I'd work on all 90+ (minus Hunter). So 3 levels to go for mining (will go for 91 though - effigies) and 5 for WC (6 technically for the same reason). Currently working on a Herblore level because eh, I has monies and if I decided to waste the money on it I'd be left with 1 buyable 99 to go, which would be nice. Right request for you TIFers... My bank is shocking. I'm starting to get fed up with it. I originally tried to have one skilling tab, which has now sprouted into 2 and it's just all awful. So any ideas on what to take out and how to clean it up nicely? Also consider that I've pretty much given up combat entirely in this game, and the only thing I ever really do is lag around a dungeon for Mierin, or go and die on ~wave 15 of Troll Invasion (seriously... The past 5 months EoC has been out I haven't reached the end of Troll Invasion once, always dying about there). So here's the bank. Ta muchly TIF.
  9. Congrats Unknown! When it comes to making tradeable ports stuff what item is the best for each set of things? I'm pretty sure Cruelty scrim and Tetsu legs are the best for those 2 right?
  10. More boredom and procrastination... Though yesterday I did manage to write a 4000 word essay in just over 9 hours... #WINNING. Got roughly 1000 to go for this Thomas Becket module, and then hoping to finally have a 2500 word essay on Anglo-Saxon Heroic Literature done before the 16th when I go back, so I'm then half way through the assignments for my 2nd term. Guess this means I'm 96 levels off maxing/comping or whatever...
  11. Pheoenix <3: So happy I got the first 99 of the clan. Muhaha.
  12. Wow didn't even know about those 2 posts in December! Hahahaha I need to catch up on MLP sometime... Anyways small update: I got bored and came back for a little bit. On and off for the past month or so whilst procrastinating essays 6/3/2013: 30/3/2013: Today 3/4/2013: Everyone keeps saying about it - Max Cape? Comp cape? TBH neither. It'll never happen. Between Hunter, Brink of Extinction and QBD Max and Comp wont happen... And don't forget 2 new skills in the summer. Both of which need to be 99'd too. If I even pulled out some stops and TRIED for Max it would only just probably happen (if I could stomach Hunter) by the time they were released. Still I'll keep plugging away at some skills... I have 95 cons banked. A semi-plan to probably just do Fletching/Thieving for 7 levels and get 2400 total etc. I'll get close... One day. Real Life update: First term M.A. went stunningly well - Overall 72 in Research Methodology, 72 in Studying the Medieval and 74 in Cistercian's and their World. I had a girlfriend for 3 months and she broke up with me... Apparently had too many issues with trusting people and stress and depression and anxiety etc. Got a new girlfriend now haha. Erm... 2nd term is going well... Got 6 essays to do... No ounce of motivation to do them though. Anyways hi and possibly bye tip.it. :)
  13. I got bored and came back for a little bit. On and off for the past month or so whilst procrastinating essays 6/3/2013: 30/3/2013: Today 3/4/2013:
  14. Argh and Arrrrghhhh as requested... Actually... This is my first post in mooooooooooooonths! Eh a reshuffle was/is needed really in some ways... The split from just EoE into EoE and PvMDG (Yes yes both separate clans yada yada) causes for some interesting conclusions to be drawn. DG as a skill anyways is dying a painful death and had been for such a long time. EoE can't just sustain itself off that. Starting over... I'm not even sure. TBH the question that can then be drawn is why don't we all just pile into PvMDG - seeing as quite frankly all (or at least most) of us are friends, we've belonged to the same clan together for quite a long time now, and it would keep the core of active (semi-active in my case) EoEr's etc in together... Which seems to be on most people's minds anyways as I often see many EoErs guesting in PvMDG, along with myself. My 2 pence.
  15. Is it actually worth trying to fit a merchant into your crew, especially during the Scythe with the high req missions?
  16. Wow! Octarine just HAS to convert this for main site use. It's too useful to not be!
  17. I never really liked the idea of EoC and after playing a few days of the Beta when it first came out I really hoped it'd be scrapped or at least not released until after Christmas time. So now, with it released, I'm becoming more and more confused when things are being explained to me now, tiers, gear, abilities whatever. It's just like - WHAT?? Maybe I'm just slow on the uptake with this, or just adverse to change (I am kinda stubborn and entrenched in my ways). Octarine has even gotten to the point of not bothering to even try to explain anything to me any more and keeps trying to usher me towards the tutorial. I've now no idea what a good slayer set up is for a general melee task, and can't gear as normal with Rapier + Ddef sorting everything out as it'll be awful DPS. Apparently it's something to do with not being on the same tier or whatever. The combat also seems to be a lot more boring and annoying to me. Whereas some people (I forget who, who made that fantastic and elaborate post about the stunning an enemy for 6 seconds, jumping back blah blah blah) find EoC riveting with the amount of cool "cinematic" combinations you can create... I find it just as easy to ask people what the best binds to the action bar are, and then once in combat it's just essentially: Click Enemy Face -> Keyboard Roll around Glance up to see if enemy is dead Rinse and repeat. Therefore with that in mind EoC was always going to turn my RSing into EoS - Era of Skilling - as I sincerely hated the combat, but even that is looking rather suspect. Hell, the skilling interfaces - ie. When making staves it gives you all sorts of info taking up your screen room - are so in your face that it makes me positively claustrophobic. I just end up wanting to punch my screen and go sit in an open space breathing in and out of a brown paper bag. Or better yet, punch the JMod responsible for such an atrocious set up. Anyways, I've had my 5 minute rant about this now... Now to get back to trying to understand how on earth to make the action bar more skilling orientated...
  18. I stayed up til 4:40am (or there abouts) last night watching the BBC coverage down in my University's student bar... The atmosphere there was almost tangible, and the relief and celebration we had, even here in England, was amazing... So much happier Obama is in. I sincerely worried for the safety of the world when I read about some of the things Romney has said over his election campaign. Still... 4 more years of the best man for the job sitting in the Whitehouse!
  19. Thought it'd throw this Welsh Dinosaur section in Sainsburys at you guys as we're all posting photo's we've taken...
  20. Because I feel it would be awesome and perhaps suit my physique - http://confitdent.com/bane-workout-big-muscle-tom-hardy-the-dark-knight-rises/ Also! COME VISIT ME [bleep]@@@
  21. Yeahs, I need to learn natures etc and understand breeding and EVs xD Still... Nothing will ever replace my Hydro Pumping Salamance in my heart... I mean.... C'mon, HE KNOWS HYDRO PUMP.
  22. See the reason why I suggested Absol last night was because you have a very offensive set monsters - notably Gallade and Scizor. No idea on natures really (which I really do need to get clued up on!) but anyways: Absol: Adamant nature. 300 HP 374 Attack 144 Defence 153 Sp Attack 144 Sp Def 167 Speed Scope Lens Then I have him equipped out with high critical hit ratio stuff - Psycho Cut, Night Slash etc. . Have Scizor Or Gallade cover the grass moves, I have a young Gallade that I started training ages ago... Level 24 Brave Nature, Alert to sounds. 77 HP 88 Attack 41 Defence 41 Sp Attack 60 Sp Def 51 Speed Move pool of: Leaf blade, X-Scisor, Night Slash and Slash atm. I think I have one of my old Dragonites cover electric and ice and such with Thunderbolt and Ice Beam.
