The Running Thread
Although it's only 18 days since last time, i've hit some round numbers: 40m (no reaction time) 5,3 (April 2010) 100m (with reaction time and blocks) 10,93 (April 2010) 400m: 52,22 ( March 2010) 800m: 1:58 (!) (April 2010) Mile: 4:30 (April 2010) 3km: 9:59 (!) (April 2010) 5km: 17:23 (!) (April 2010) 8km 29:37 (during the 10km) 10km 37:47 (April 2010, probably a bad time as it's the first time i've run the 10k in a logn time) half-marathon: 1:27:54 June 2009 (haven't run since) It's still been too long since I've run a 15k or a 20k to give accurate times. I think it's time to focus on tennis technique now, and just do HIIT at same schedule as I am atm to stay in form, or maybe improve a little bit. Dunno if i'll ask for timed results, or just do HIIT instead of running times (if my coaches will allow it).

19-Apr-2010 - Forums Reshuffle
this. exactly this. Jagex has recognized that the lower level players are the most immature on average, their average age is also vastly lower than 1800+, or even 2000+. I would never dream of posting on the old RSOF, because i know that my posts would drown in spam, never recieving a serious reply. With the new system, jagex might actually regain some senior members on their forums, which cannot be a bad thing, and integrate the lower leveled communities with eachother: these are the players who have the most activities in common, and can mutually (possibly symbiotically) learn from the experience. being told what you "should do" from an older, more experienced player does not develop your understanding of the game, or your social understanding; rather, many become dependent on external advice, instead of learning to use the insane amounts of information available on officially recognized fansites, and in the Knowledge base. We'll see how it develops, but my initial, shallow reaction is one of definate improvement. With a 2000+ or 2200+ community accessible in addition to another group, RSOF may produce constructive feedback from jagex where it matters: where the Jmods read.

Tip.it Times 18 April 2010
but this opportunity to comment on the present and compare it to the past of runescape, with regards to skills being released, is lost. A perfect view can already be enjoyed of the release of the initial skill, why settle for a "worse view" in the current article, as you aptly note, the present does not satisfy the demands to write the article, however skilled a writer you have, so why publish anything on the topic?

Tip.it Times 18 April 2010
I'm very surprised, and deeply disappointed in seeing an analysis in the content of the new skill immediately, before players have had time to experience the content, and jagex has been given room to integrate the skill into other activities, rather than just releasing skills. This week i was expecting analysis on how jagex have released skills in the past, and how a skill should be released. Batches, quests, skill integration, what is as skill, and so on and so forth. Those are the current events, we must wait to see how things progress, or pass judgement. Get back to us in 3 months at the soonest, when this type of article is relevant. There are SO many possibilities, all discarded for analysing the actual skill prematurely, which in iself i would consider a cardinal sin of publication. Analysis is done after an event has transpired, not while it is ongoing. While a story still runs one analyses what should be done, what has been done, and what may happen in the near future. History is the judge of legacy, not the contemporary.

12-Apr-2010 - Dungeoneering Skill!
I'll take my spear over the rapier any day. There are so many things weak to crush, but i still find myself using at least crush and slash in every dungeon, most of the time also stab. It's all about versatility for that first bound item.

when you get logs seems to be kinda random to me, and boss-related. i've currently got Bilrach 1,2,3,4,5,8,9,10,11,12, behemoth 1, marmaros and Thok 1,2,4,5 Stalker notes 1 and misc. 3,5 and 7. Why no method in the madness? :P

I am assuming that prestige will play a huge role here. I think the reason this skill has 120 levels is because the total floor will be 60, with 50ish prestige I imagine the exp rate will be massive. Prestige: I doubled the values of my prestige from having 14-18 levels completed. if that's always the case, these values will be ginormous later on. Dungeon levels: with higher dungeon levels, the experience increases rapidly. Combine the two, and you may have fast xp, and you may not. Only time will tell, really, just look to the highscores: people are leveling fast so far.

good to hear 48-40 dungeoneering was a scary sight indeed, more than halved my dungeon xp I'll take this chance to ask, what's the secret to levelling that fast? Do you reset your prestige or what? Details if you can :) I really don't see what's so hard with the prestige: only reset it once all the levels you can access have been completed. That means they have a tick next to them. Then, once you do reset (if no new levels have been unlocked by you cashing in your tokens for exp, if that's what you desire), you start from level 1 again. Do level 1 first, because each level you complete gradually raises your prestige, thus you gain more exp faster. Levelling fast as far as i know: soloing complexity 6 is fastest. Open the bonus rooms, go in and out directly unless you need food. Don't kill unless you need food: you shouldn't be doing any skilling in any of the dungeons if you have a weapon and arrows bound. If possible, bind a promethean spear (for crush / slash / stab attacks). Once you start a level, be sure to buy a hammer, a pickaxe, an axe and tinderbox. these are easy to drop later on, but usually at least 2 of them are required for the completion of a level. use your prayer wisely, remember each level always has the same boss (as far as i know) and some bosses will disable your prayers anyway. Use the map liberally (while running) to see where you have rooms you haven't been in yet, to move efficiently around. anyone have better / other advice? Thanks, very helpful. How do I know what is a bonus room though? (and also, why do i still get negative pecentages for complexity while I was at lvl 6) well, it doesn't really matter what is a bonus room, and what is not. you just want to enter all the rooms, grab any keys, open doors further down the line. You've always got to judge whether or not to kill stuff in a particular room is most efficient or not (if you need food, if you're going to have to run past many times, therefore expending too much food etc.). For maximising xp, this game is actually requires thinking and adapting to general stituations. The many puzzles are also nice, at least now in the start before we all learn them by heart. I have no idea why you get negative percentages for complexity, even at level 6. I've never had that happen to me, then again i've only played 5 levels that weren't level 6 :D

In most of Europe (England included) you have to have a legal reason to fire someone, it's not like the US where you can fire much more liberally. I doubt any heads will role, because that would probably be illegal.

really jagex? i just had my key to the boss door (or so i assume) placed nice and neat inside a wall. So here i go, solve the whole dungeon, have one unknown room left, needing the key stuck in the wall. -.-' definately some "small" bugs, i mean, i've only spent 25 mins getting here...

More important question if you ask me: Will this be considered as bug abuse? How much xp/hour in runecrafting are we talking about here? afaik 1/10th of the original exp. works with any runes, but bloods give more exp as usual :D My rough calculations say I'm sticking with ZMI... but i can do homework / something else entirely, while not afking of course, so in reality it's rc exp i'd never gain otherwise. each to their own i guess

very. It's literally 4-5 steps from altar to "bank" your character also crafts as many thousand runes as you like, ten by ten, with xp for every 10.
-

there is obviously the runecrafting. 10xp per blood, get 100k cash, buy ess, sell runes back to the guy, rinse and repeat.

thanks! that was easy now :P I've been activating the unpowered ones along the edges trying to move them in some way or other. How're your strategies on resetting? I assume fastest xp means not doing the lower level ones too often, so how many levels do you do before a reset?

if you're solo you flip them all really quickly. if not each person flips a lever simultaneously Yeah, i get all 5 levers every time. nothing happens though, even in different orders. actually, i still haven't undrestood the colored lodestone rooms yet either. i must just be slow at puzzles.
-
12-Apr-2010 - Dungeoneering Skill!
Yeah, i still haven't found a good method for the 5 lever room, which really bugs me. Are there really no clues at all as to what we should be doing? most of the time i don't even get a lever pull animation, and i don't understand when i do.

Tip.it Times 11 April 2010
I must say i was surprised to see little mention of the clan leader boards, and maxed boards on RSOF in the first article. How much more representative can jagex manage to get? Just look at player mods: there is a clear imbalance in player moderators, and that selection. They also already have plenty of contact with fansite leadership, and access to the discussions there. Polls are easy to institute, and quite frankly, jagex have laxed in the use of polls. They were better at using them earlier on as well. Even if they don't pay much attention to the result, it pacifies runescapians. They may also learn something from the polls that have results differing from what they expect. Second article: if you compare yourselves to others for the sake of rankings, are you not a part of the community of those who aren't playing for fun? Highscores guage who plays the most, with the exception of the duelling tournament scores. should they even matter to most?

Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
Just to clarify, the Jotun (Jötunn) is a superhuman giant spirit thing. trolls are trolls trond is a version of Tronne who is the trollking /mountainking of Dovre, known from Ibsen's Peer Gynt and Griegs musical piece "In the hall of the mountain king" Daemonheim is the logical conclusion to draw isn't it? home of the daemons? Possibly (only personal speculation here) related to new demons, weak to magic (strong towards melee) armour or some sort of other combat triangle change?

Fansite Support (Re-launch)
give me one that relates to this online situation, which is relevant in the terms you propose. yes, realism does impose certain limits. However, it is empowering to know nothing will come of a forlorn idea, abeit one of principle. it means i can spend my time where it matters, rather than where i hope it matters. we are games though, we want the information. You can round up as many sites as you like, but we play runescape to 'scape, not to stand up to jagex. Therefore, the fans migrate to where the fans find what they require, just look at runescape wikia: they don't care, they know it doesn't matter if they're on some list or not, be it your list, or jagex's list. They have what they need to maintain users, and continuously be first out with guides to new areas, minigames and quests. Market dynamics overide principle time and time again.

Saradomin godswords uses for slayer
that is where the ardougne (3) cape (after elite tasks complete) comes in --> tele to monestary for instant prayer refill for free, as many times a day as you like. Actually the tele to monastery is infinite even without elite tasks. The same can't be said for the patch tele though Even better then :D I've just gotten very used to my elite one, so i didn't know. It's insanely practical (and renders the prayer restore from the fally shield (3) useless imo :)
