  1. give me one that relates to this online situation, which is relevant in the terms you propose. yes, realism does impose certain limits. However, it is empowering to know nothing will come of a forlorn idea, abeit one of principle. it means i can spend my time where it matters, rather than where i hope it matters. we are games though, we want the information. You can round up as many sites as you like, but we play runescape to 'scape, not to stand up to jagex. Therefore, the fans migrate to where the fans find what they require, just look at runescape wikia: they don't care, they know it doesn't matter if they're on some list or not, be it your list, or jagex's list. They have what they need to maintain users, and continuously be first out with guides to new areas, minigames and quests. Market dynamics overide principle time and time again.
  2. that is where the ardougne (3) cape (after elite tasks complete) comes in --> tele to monestary for instant prayer refill for free, as many times a day as you like. Actually the tele to monastery is infinite even without elite tasks. The same can't be said for the patch tele though Even better then :D I've just gotten very used to my elite one, so i didn't know. It's insanely practical (and renders the prayer restore from the fally shield (3) useless imo :)
  3. Who claims the prisoners dilemma is theoretical? Unilateral cooperation is theoretical. If a union of fansites existed, those willing to be the Jagex lakei would benefit, and make the cooperation immaterial. Jagex only needs one fansite, and can ensure, by its endorsement and perks, that this is a major contender. Fansites have already agreed to the current situation (see platinum list), making your cooperative immaterial. Good luck setting up a cooperative either way. you won't succeed, as there is so little to gain, and so many fansites to organize. With the largest contenders already platinum, they don't need you for anything, but you need them for all impact. It's simply not going to happen. In theory, it all works fine, in reality, the dilemma itself has outlined how it won't work. It's like trying to get rid of piracy by paying the piracy webpages to stop.
  4. the thing is, the world as a whole socres about 110 on the mensa tests from 50 years ago. That would mean we are as humans 10% more intelligent than 50 years ago, which makes no sense, as our genetic material is the same. Therefore, intelligence is actually dynamic, as it is learned. It is not static, therefore not quantifiable. Just like the SAT's show how good you are at taking the SAT's, IQ tests show how good you are at taking IQ tests. Many of their puzzles have multiple solutions, but they look for the "right" one. If someone wants to get some kind of look on the intelligence on the forums, what else could you ask for to get some kind of pointer, other than an IQ test?
  5. The prisoner's dilemma, outlines the fact that cooperation is almost impossible either way even with only two players. Thus, there is really no choice in a real situation: it is so statistically improbable for everyone to cooperate for the greater good that it is not an option. And so the dilemma is a false dilemma describing only a theoretical situation, as almost all of game theory, and much of economic theory, because it assumes pefect, accessible information. you can "identify" the cause as much as you like, but the implications are none: there is nothing you can do, and in extention nothing tip.it can do, but get the best deal it can get on its own: other's have already "caved" rendering the collective option dead. does jagex do this consciously, or to help the runescape community as a whole? For me they've certainly removed all gaming ads from their own website. Do i have the information to analyze whether they have suspicious economic motives, or simply want the runescape community to improve? No. do you? no. will we then only be speculating on their motives? yes.

  7. left side stiches are more frequent Hence, the reason I am sure that his right-side stitches are probably caused by this... which is the answer to the question asked.
  8. Indeed, the weather is nice. I don't only hope to exchange information, because i feel the evidence to back my case is so strong, i would be doing you a disservice if i didn't present the evidence convincingly. The fact is, we have more than 250 people (all with norwegian names) where are credited with the official norwegian food pyramid (or so my old health and cookery textbook from middle school claimed). With 250 researchers from norway being accredited the norwegian food pyramid, we have a population of 5,8 million people, i then find it very hard to believe the UN's food pyramid won't have thousands and thousands of researchers examined and accredited. I think this discussion is really about our perspectives on science: modern science is so complicated, that understanding the raw results takes years of training, in any field. Why else does it take years of education to get degrees in the field, and therefore the means of getting your scientific work published? Wouldn't you then be able to publish in peer reviewed journals without degrees? Therefore, having a chiropractor be an expert in a completely different field is absurd: you want a nutritionist. The one sentence I quoted has so many flaws though, if so many flaws in a single sentence just "slip" out of him, I personally can't trust him not to make similar mistakes: "Even a thousand years before Jesus, in the old testament, the Hindus with the Vetas were saying that milk was the most important food for people" -"The Hebrew Bible, composed between the 14th and 5th centuries BCE" (that is the old testament, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible ) -"Veta" is actually "Veda" the four holy texts of Hinduism. Dating these Vadas are also almost impossible, because they were orally transfered, and the oldest transcripts were written on birch bark, palm leaves etc. that generally have a living span of a few hundred years. Even knowing that, the Vedas are also composed, at least in part, before the 15th century BCE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veda) -an article on milk in the Vedas: http://dahd.nic.in/ch52/annex522.htm Thus, mistranslations flourish, as the elixir of life, and milk itself are both denoted as Amrita in the Vedas. How do you know factual milk from the elixir of life, when examining what the Vedas actually say about milk? You can't. -Milk cannot possibly be the most important food for people (unless you mean newborns). That is not true historically, or in terms of what any person can ingest to fulfill all their nutritionary needs. -If the Vedas are to be trusted on the effects on the health of dietary products, let us examine Ghee (cleared butter): Ghee is one of the compounds most directly corrolated with an increase in cardiovascular disease. With these five major faults, and their implications, when they are presented as evidence for the case of raw milk, by a chiropractor, I have question his reliability as a source on any topic, really. It's nice to see you find the information valuable :)
  9. doubt the reliability of that though... Especially since you can be either 153 or 154 based on so few questions (I didn't spend a lot of time on the math problems, rather made educated guesses) I also don't think you can take the same IQ test more than once, because the composition of the tasks aren't varied enough (there were very few word propblems on this one, at least for me)
  10. So i basically have lived there, have a sister and friends who live there, have a government authority in Norway that advises me about schools in a lot of countries all over the world, who therefore have a critical view of the campuses because there are so many i could potentially choose from. I don't see the commercial in any of that, but i see someone who doesn't want to believe or trust me. that's your choice, but don't rationalize it at my expense. Stevepole, i think you kinda missed the point: they are arguing their universities cannot offer them the courses to finish in regular time, my experience is VERY different, so different in fact, that it seems to me impossible to blame the general university (there may be some bad apples), rather the students are at fault. Yes, there is the tangent of my reliability, but hey, when you can't argue your case, why not question the validity of the other person, without presenting counterarguments?
  11. Yes, Hotel Rwanda was a good movie indeed! However, The united nations mandate forbids intervention in "the internal politics" of any country (civil war included) unless the crime of genocide is being committed. Therefore, the UN itself has to wait before genocide is actually taking place before they can act without the agreement of the soverign nation they are making unsoverign in some respect. Media i've seen has covered "why" very throughly. Sensationalist "entertainment media" for the loose :S
  12. I knew someone would comment on my location sooner or later, and make a host of assumptions about me, my situation and my knowledge. there is something called an internationally recognized high school diploma. Both of us have graduated the International Baccalaureate program with flying colors, taken the SAT tests, and gotten academic scholarships in the US based on SAT results, and honour credits that all IB courses recieve in America. I've applied to, and examined the UC system, and other californian schools in particular very thoroughly. I have applied to the public schools, and the privete all over california. my sister has studied at UCSD for three years, I lived in california for a year while my parents were researching there. I KNOW how the system works. Today is in the global age, i can study at almost any university in the world, with an international diploma. For the heck of it, I aplied to the largest university in Taipei, to a Uni in hong kong, one in Cairo, and one in Sao paulo, just because I can, and my country pays applications fees for me. I'm qualfied for all those universities, and thousands of others all over the world. Why not choose some of the best schools in the world, and get away from the freezing climate of northern scandinavia? ShadowFaxPZ: Photography and human biology. I'm a norwegian wanting to study in america. That means i have a particular state insitution that provides me free help with regards to how the american schooling system works (our government spends a lot of money). I think they know what they're talking about, as they correct the information the American embassy in norway give out, at the request of the american embassy.
  13. for calculators, scripts for when minigames start (fish flingers) etc. i rune wikia has a ton more information. their calculators including ge prices should be the envy of all other fansites. However, for discussion and analysis, off-topic boards etc. it's impossible to match tip.it now if there was a way of having similar calculators as runescape wikia does, that would enhance tip.jit immensely. striving to improve is what makes any fansite improve, and retain its position of significance.
  14. The OSCE said that the media biased Bakiyev so thoroughly before the last election that the elections "did not allow voters to make an informed choice" and simoultaneously that the election was "marred by many problems and irregularities" For OSCE, those are very serious terms in saying the elections were undemocratic. no revolution is peaceful, we just need to wait and see how policy is conducted, and if the country actually becomes democratic before we judge the revolutionists in my opinion That is not revolution worthy, in my area, I think for every 1 or 2 John McCain commercials there were at least 8 or 9 Obama commercials. Then for our gubernatorial election there were soooo many John Corzine commercials in favor of him and defaming Christie, and even Obama made a few in state appearances, he still lost. Bias media is no excuse because media is a private enterprise anyway, however unfair Bakiyev's advantage may have been, it was still legal therefore you can't just overthrow your government in a bloody coup, because the point of a successful democratic government is the rotation of power from group to group is peaceful. wanting democracy is not worthy of revolution? excuse me, but the ignorance in assuming media in a typical third world, autocratic state is identical to american media is mindboggeling to me. American media is similar in that it too will try and tell you what it wants you to believe. Here it just depends on the station. We're talking about degrees though: a country with media owned directly by the president. laws and persecution for negative reports about the president, squeezing opposition out of all media outlets, etc. you over-estimate the wrongdoings in america, or underestimate the severity of the situation in the third world when you compare their forms of media quantitatively, not just qualitatively. To me, that is by definition taking freedom of press and expression 100% for granted. It should be a given, but is not.
  15. ... Really ? Really ? Surely you're not naive enough to believe, Iran, a country that has problems with running water, is developed enough to use nuclear power ? I'd be careful with those kinds of generalizations and assumptions. Rather, at least personally, I find the whole essence of the situation being that Iran is "doing everything themselves" in such a way that enriching uranium for weapons is possible. They've been offered cheaper alternatives from many different nations, which they would obviously choose if they were in it for the power. They have declined all these deals without examiniation, citing a "right to self-sufficient nuclear power". Why do they need that self-sufficiency, when a spectrum of nations guarantee a constant supply, from all areas of the political spectrum and the world? The only conclusion i can draw from that, personally, is that they do not want the uranium for peaceful needs. Hoever, that is also immaterial. The Times discovered secret official iranian documents (that have been verified from reliable iranian scientists outside of iran) on the making of triggers for nuclear weapons. this technology only serves a single purpose: nuclear bombs. Iran wants the bomb, that's a fact. All major political powers have incorporated this view into their foreign policy, another clear indicator of this notion. there are no "WMD issues" like with Iraq here. This time around, the documentation actually exists, at least for the triggers.
  16. honestly though, butterflies were nice, implings good for the low leveled hunter who wants to make money and train hunter at the same time. no quests required, no areas to go to that are hard to get to. it's just content for another type of player, really, although i do agree either the exp, or the monetary rewards are still underpowered; it's an improvement. that's the case with very much of the high level content that's been bemoaned a lot of places: they don't suit my style of playing, i don't like them so jagex are ripping me off. I do agree a lot of promised content is overdue.
  17. Yeah, i took the minute it takes to look stuff up. apparently the liver theory isn't really reliable. left side stiches are more frequent, also in swimming, and that wouldn't be the case if the diaphragm / liver interaction you mention is the cause of stiches. either way, the cause is really immaterial, as "cures" abound, and have been scientifically researched: -get in better shape -strengthen core muscles -don't eat / drink before training -hydrate -warm up properly -gradually increase intensity -run on soft surfaces, or with dampened shoes -control breathing
  18. I also think you also missed the more major concern, which is that the election was "marred by problems and irregularities" irregularities in elections are synonymous with electoral fraud, it's just the politically correct term. When OSCE calls an election "undemocratic" you know there is no real democracy in the country, the UN does not play around with human rights.
  19. just wildly spinning a lot out of nothing, which seems to be the point of this topic, the "M" can be related to how many of the twitter posts are signed ~Ems or ~Em the M is obviously pronounced " Em" :ohnoes: the speculation is just speculation. you have nothing to go by, so chances of guessing right are minescule.
  20. I have to say the Zamorack winner was definately a strategic choice by jagex: the whole story itself is completely plagarized from a Terry Pratchett book. This is a jagex ploy to get younger players to write more, and get integrated into the game more. Judging by the categories they outlined for the competition, this story is mediocre at best. wiki isn't on the site as it has advertising that conflicts with runescape's policy. Discussion pages on many articles also explain the many flaws jagex have had up through the years, and show images of the serious bugs runescape struggles with, and has struggled with. These are two major reasons for why they are not on the list: they're just too good in showing teh whole of runescape, not just what jagex wants. runehq being platinum is pathetic. I always get adverts for buying runescape manuals etc. there. they want people to "report ads to them" as well, suggesting they haven't complied with the rules. Is tip.it going to aim for platinum, or at least ask specifically what is missing for tip.it to be platinum? I really think Jagex hare showing how unprofessional they really are, in the current sceme of things. yes, most of their employees come right out of uni to lead sections of the team, so they all lack experience, but their mistakes are so blatantly obvious on many levels (as is their propaganda-like media strategy) that it's becoming unacceptable.
  21. The OSCE said that the media biased Bakiyev so thoroughly before the last election that the elections "did not allow voters to make an informed choice" and simoultaneously that the election was "marred by many problems and irregularities" For OSCE, those are very serious terms in saying the elections were undemocratic. no revolution is peaceful, we just need to wait and see how policy is conducted, and if the country actually becomes democratic before we judge the revolutionists in my opinion
  22. The only thing shocking about that is the fact that it's probably not true. When headlines on the front page of that website say "we democrats" vs "them [republicans]," the validity falls somewhat in question. People in media will do just about anything to get attention, ratings, or hits. In one of the above little /b/ images people are posted for lulz, it shows a bloody camera listed as a "abandoned machine gun." Presumably the camera belonged to a journalist killed by American troops. The image is obviously fake and staged, and the blood is likely nothing more than red paint (guess what, blood is a darkish red that approaches black when spilt). Journalists around the world love to set up fake photos with actors/actresses or photoshop images in order to prevoke emotional response. It's been done for decades. There is no true media outlet. It doesn't exist as even an AP wire was concieved by someone voicing their opinions on a subject. Reality sucks and doesn't sell. This is apparently headline news but if an African dictator orders his guns to fire on villages because of their racial heritage, nobody cares. But if American chopper pilots are idiots? Oh hell, that's news! A precocious looking white girl gets kidnapped and raped we spend WEEKS on the news ignoring nigh all else in order to cover it, but the same situation happens hundreds of times daily in America alone, much less the rest of the world. All Journalists care about is getting attention and milking it. If the truth really had a website, it would probably be on Geocities and struggling at that. If cynics, conspiracy theorists and those distrustful of everyone and everything had an outlet, i bet they could doubt everything categorically and therefore live in complete ignorance. That would be due to their irrational disbelief of everything not emperically observed by them, directly. No one can ever present "the truth" and prove its absolute validity, all truth is subjective. ...oh wait, the internet and its forums exist, someone beat me to it :( really though, general distrust is out of all reasonable proportions. bias is everywhere by definition; you choose who to trust, not that you cannot turst anyone because they're not yourself. Reasoned scepticism is the only constructive scepticism, selective distrust is only used to justify opinion when it contradicts fact.
  23. Democracy is one of the claims the "prime minister" demanded yesterday at least.
  24. being Jewish, that puts me at a 1/100 to a black person ratio, and as many know, african-americans are quite the minority. So yeah. I'm a small minority either way. I also read somewhre that within the next 30 years, white people will be a minority in the US, and Mexicans/Hispanics will be the majority. But then on a world wide scale, it's the Asains that are majority. It's all about sample size ladies and gentlemen rather, it's about perspective. Am i looking at gender, race, religion, a combination of many things? My sample size is still me, however many times i count myself to get a larger "sample size". Sample size simply means how large a percentage (or how many) people of a group you count: do you count a thousand people, and assume they represent the whole population, or do you decide on a census? Those are sample sizes, what you are talking about are different perspectives :)
