About the turmoil statement, you are dumb." I'll repeat myself: this has been tested and numbers don't lie. Have you ever seriously tested what Range weapons have the highest DPS? You clearly haven't. Meleers need Turmoil to win a fight. Sure, you can turn on leeches but they won't help you. The mage will just leech the leeched specials back. "And how does this help dangerous pvp?" It shows that Magic has more DPS than Melee does and therefore will win the fight. "ON?" +153 magic defence bonus. Pretty much the max magic defence a meleer will have. "I already know this fool. This thread is mostly about EDGE PKING" Your thread is about balancing the combat triangle when there already is a triangle. The combat triangle is fine. And limiting PvP to Edge PKing is just stupid.

Next time before calling other people a fool, or stupid, watch the actual video. In the Range vs. Mage video, at 3:51, the Ranger is in Karil's and is using a HC. A HC has the highest DPS and it's not farcastable by the mage so you will want to use it against a Mage if you want to stand a chance. Rune c'bows are farcastabe (it reaches 7 on rapid and 9 on longrange, whilst Magic reaches 10). You can't leech when you're using Turmoil and he needs Turmoil to even stand a chance. Ice Barrage averages 88.9 damage per hit against a meleer with Armadyl (+153 magic defence) if you have +128 magic attack, which is full magic gear not counting 3rd age, spirit shields, and PvP equipment. The maxed out meleer will average 79 per hit, with a whip. Since whips hit at 2.4 seconds per hit, and spells cast at 3 seconds per hit, the damage per hour for melee is 118,500. The DPH for magic is 106,680. Next we have to factor in magic’s freezing ability. In the equipment for the magic DPS tests, barrage averaged 53/100 successful hits. One round of freezing and unfreezing is 8 or 9 magic hits on average. This means the meleer will average getting 2 or 3 hits in for the mages 8 or 9. The mage will average 755.6, and the meleer will average 197.5 per 25.5 seconds. This brings the DPH for melee down to 27,880. Magic is still at 106,680. Lastly, you shouldn't be using Magic in low level BH. Magic shines in deep Wilderniss. Magic shines in Castle Wars, the Duel Arena, Fist of Guthix, Stealing Creation, Fight Pits, Clan Wars, deep level BH and Soul Wars. I, and many other maxed out players have tested this all. You haven't.

A SoL spec is not needed to win a fight against a meleer without farcasting. It's good to turn it on when the meleer is going to special you, and you can have the special effect on pretty much 80% of the time if you have leech special attack energy. The meleer is obviously wearing black dragonhide to decrease the DPS of the Mage, because in melee armor he'll get raped even faster. The Magician's DPS will still be higher than that of a meleer. Even if the meleer is in black dragonhide, Karil's or in Armadyl. And if you have a good Prayer level, use leech special attack energy. The fight is unfair enough already as it is. The mage is not farcasting, and the meleer is wearing black dragonhide. That's unfair enough already. It doesn't matter whether if the meleer is in Karil's or in Armadyl - they will lose. And you'll lose pathetically if the mage farcasts you. The meleer is using Vengeance, a whip and a AGS to special yet the mage won every single fight with his SoL. And claws can't K0 any experienced mage. A simple rocktail brew (rocktail > brew > brew > brew > super restore) will make you immune to being K0ed. Magic hits through black d'hide with ease... and use your SoL special to reduce damages done by 50%. <- shows just how easy it is to kill meleers with a SoL and without farcasting. Both players are maxed out and the meleer is using Turmoil.

  11. it works differently now max hit is boosted by 3x magic lvl bonus max magic bonus is 7 so the max bonus with potions/wolpertinger is +21%, not +40% 322/1.15 = 280 whoever told you that the real max hit of fire surge is 283 is probably a troll :D I know that with every boosted magic level you get a 3% bonus, and I know that the wolpertinger and the extreme magic potions increase your magic strength by 21% now.   12. How do you calculate your max hit with spells? I'm confused by this because everytime I try to calculate the max hit of Ice Barrage for example I always seem to be wrong. When extremes were released, you could hit 47s with Ice Barrage (40% from the extreme magic potion + 10% from a damage boosting staff). But how is this possible? 50% from 30 is 15, so shouldn't the max hit of Ice Barrage be 45 back then? Also, I hear stories that fire surge has a base damage of 283 instead of 280. So if I wear a staff of light, my max should be 325 (283*1.15), yet in my weeks of doing Barrows with fire surge I've never hit above 322. Help?
  13. I'm pretty sure Ahrim top + Verac skirt > Verac brassard + Ahrim bottom (both in magic offense and ranged defense). Ahrim's robetop + Verac's plateskirt gives +9 magic attack, +119 slash defence and +84 range defence. Verac's brassard + Ahrim's robeskirt gives +16 magic attack, +125 slash defence and +81 range defence. 3 more range defence isn't really going to make any difference so Verac's brassard + Ahrim's robeskirt is better in my opinion.

  15. What? Torag's and Verac's helm give great defence stats and only your magic attack by a little. Any mage that is maging in Soul Wars or in Castle Wars should be wearing one. Ask any other experienced magician on this forum like Warrior5024 or Muggiwplhar, they'll tell you the same thing as what I am saying. And a Staff of Light can auto cast any ancient spell. With the set up I highly recommend (I use it all the time when maging meleers and rangers and I never lose to any meleer and rarely to a ranger) you'll have +98 magic attack and +211 slash defence. There is no no noticeable difference between +98 magic attack and +128 magic attack. So you might as well work on that slash defence.

  17. I know, but you can fail and still fall which is what happened to me. The problem is that I got stuck in a wall when I fell lol.
  18. Screw Regicide... <_< I was on my way to find the tracker when I fell through those annoying leaves and I ended up being stuck in a wall. I couldn't move so I had to teleport out. Now I have to walk through the underground pass again... you can still see the tip of my Staff of Light sticking out.

  20. Yeah it's because of the prayer bonus. I personally use Torag's because of the higher range defence.
  21. My gear has around +220 slash defence and my defence level is 75. My friend still hit a lot of 0's on me and he has 99 attack, strength and was using turmoil. If you want to Motherbrain, I can show you how powerful magic is against maxed out meleers. I'll just ask my friend to duel me again. And Dharok's was never the best helm :P Use Verac's, Torag's or Guthan's.
  22. Alright so I've done some testing on using Ahrim's set effect and a SoL + BSS in PvP. I was using fire surge and entangle. And I have to say that the SoL + BSS wins. I was fighting a maxed out meleer who was using turmoil, soul split, a whip and claws. We did some fights without farcasting first. I won most of them. I lost one time when using full Ahrim's (died by a claw spec, I brewed too late), then the second time when the set effect activated a few times it got a lot easier for me and his strength level was down to 64/99 in less than a minute. I won. Then we did 2 fights with a SoL + BSS. I won both with ease. I just had to pay attention to when he was switching from his whip to his claws so I could turn my special attack on in time. And even if you don't have your special attack from your SoL on it's easy to survive a claw spec if you use the rocktail brew combination (Eat one rocktail. brew 3 times, then drink a super restore potion). Then we did some fights with farcasting. Again I was using full Ahrim's and a SoL + BSS. I lost one time with Ahrim's set effect due to 2 very good claw specials (I let my hp go too low again lol, I was down to 300LP when he clawed me). I won the second one with 3 brews left. Then we did another 2 fights with my SoL + BSS. I won both with so much ease lol. I only had to drink one sip of my brew. That's all lol. I had 9 brews left. It's very easy to farcast meleers if you know when they will be able to move again so you can entangle/barrage them in time without them even hitting you most of the time. In all of these tests he was in black d'hide, fury, dragon boots, abyssal whip, rune defender, dragon claws, a trimmed 99 cape, a berserker ring, a neitiznot helm and barrows gloves. He's maxed out.

  25. I'd say SoL + BS is the best. You don't even need to farcast meleers anymore thanks to the new staff. I've never really tried ahrim's set effect in PvP, all I know is that it has a 25% succes chance to lower your opponents strength level by 5 levels everytime. Pretty deadly. Especially if you combine it with Enfeeble and Leech Strength.
