new melee armour for nonmems
Rune armour is just fine the way it is. It's hard enough to hit through it with a rune scimitar/battleaxe, so if Jagex would make armour that's even stronger then rune for F2P, you'd see blue dots all the time! And you see enough of those already on a person wearing full rune. :?

F2P mage frustration
Just try fighting with full food now, you'll use insane numbers of runes even if your opponent keeps their armour on (unlikely). Yeah, F2P spells are very inaccurate it seems. :? I rarely hit a 16.

F2P mage frustration
Just been to Duel Arena, and challenged a level 82 melee kid. I made great use of the obstacles, and kept him Binding over and over again. I think I used around 20 Binds just for that single person. And my Fire Blast kept hitting around 8-10, even though he was wearing melee gear. #-o I won though. The reason that I wasted so many Binds on him, was because he was maybe frozen for 3 (I counted!) seconds, and I had to Bind him over and over in order to get to a good safespot. :s I want Snare! Also, I highly advice those Druidic robes to every F2P mage out there. They help really well. I rarely fail a Bind now.

It's a mace right? Oh and btw it might be a good KO weapon for pures, don't know about the spec or strength bonus, but who knows Yes, it's a mace indeed.

The Granite maul requires 50 attack, and 50 strength. So don't expect any epic stats or something.

Different kinds of mage weapons
There are already wands in RuneScape. In fact, the Master wand has the highest amount of magic attack a mage can have. ;) http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Master_wand

F2P mage frustration
From my experience, Bind will start to work as soon as when you cast the spell. Bind takes about 2 seconds to cast, so that will leave you with 3 seconds to either run away and Bind him again, or do 1 Fire Blast and then Bind him again. Imo it should start to freeze your enemy when you finish casting the spell, so you actually have 5 seconds to do whatever you want to do with him/her.

F2P Mage and range underpowered
I've been to Clan Wars today, wearing full Druidic (higher % to bind), a staff of fire, an amulet of magic (t), and my Explorer's ring, so I could have the highest magic attack bonus a F2P mage can have (+39). First thing I've learned is that, do not stand near those walls that go down when the countdown timer drops down to 0, otherwise you'll immediatelly get piled by everbody. In stead, I stayed a bith south of that, and waited a while so people wouldn't notice me. After about 20 seconds after the fight started, I'd carefully go to the center to join the fight. I always pick somebody that is already being piled by somebody else. If that person is in rune armour, I use Curse on them (to weaken their defence for the other people that attack him aswell). Then I Fire Blast away. After 2/3 spells or so, the melee-er will start to notice you, and they usually go after you. Always make you sure there's a safespot between you and the melee-er. Bind him, run to another safespot to get him stuck, and Bind him again. He'll keep trying to go after you, even though he's already being piled by alot of people from the clan I'm in. But from my experience, Fire Blast is a very inaccurate spell. I splash quite often on people wearing melee armour, and when I do hit them it's usually between 4-11. I don't see a 16 very often. I'm talking about people that have a 90/100+ combat. At lower levels mages do own because they max out earlier, and their damage output is like the double of what rangers/melee-ers can hit.

I think the least they could do is to fix Bind, so that it will actually freeze your target for 5 seconds, in stead of 2.

-F2P Pie Thief- Retired
Anytime. :) Those 2 and a half games were worth around 150K, so GOP is also a great money maker. In terms of what reward you get or...? I usually buy water talismans. They're 50 tokens each, and their med price is 3448GP each. And they sell quickly.

Probably Swiftkit.

Bloods could rise if Wave spells would be made F2P, after that glitch with BA. :)

Anytime. :) Those 2 and a half games were worth around 150K, so GOP is also a great money maker. Edit: out of complete boredom, I calculated for you how many tokens you would get if you'd go after 60 runecrafting. You need 137.105 xp more to achieve level 60. Since we get around 1300 xp every game we play, you'd need to play 105 games in order to achieve that (137.105/1300). If you keep using the method we did today, you'll get the maximum amount of tokens every single game (750). So 105*750 = 78750 tokens. I see you also want one of those staffs, which cost 10k tokens, so you'll have 68750 tokens left. That's around 4,74M in money. :

Advert lag!
God, I hate it that when I'm in the middle of a Clan War, my client starts to freeze every 10 seconds because of some stupid animated advert at the top (I'm F2P). I can't play while that advert is being displayed, and that advert has been there for like the whole day now. They seem to last an eternity. :? I thought JaGeX said they got rid of the animated adverts... guess not.

The Contemporary Spellbook
I love it. It's detailed, clear, and original. =D> [offtopic]I would love to gather a group of good F2P mages, and test some safe spots at Clan Wars. Could somebody help me out with this?[/offtopic]

F2P mage frustration
Maybe at level 50-70 it is. But at level 90/100+ it will be very unbalanced, and you can't deny that. Also, keep in mind that I'm talking about F2P. In P2P it's balanced indeed, at every level range.

F2P mage frustration
Mages should be balanced in F2P too in my opinion, not just in P2P. Wearing rune armour would only decrease my magic attack, which will make me splash even more then I already do. :P I agree. Every combat system, be it ranged, melee or magic deserves to be balanced fairly. But Jagex must leave an incentive to purchase p2p. In this case it would probably be the unbalanced magic abilities that could lead to you buying a membership. I'm sure you would enjoy the mage experience in members far more than in f2p. p.s I'm 89 magic without membership myself, and I've always found magic here in f2p to be quite useful (teleports, smithing etc). But melee and ranged is far more deadly when fighting in the wilderness here in f2p :) I too have been P2P before, using Claws of Guthix and Charge (gotta love those 2 skills), so I know what I'm missing. The thing is, when I purchase a month of P2P, I feel so forced to play the game, because otherwise I would waste a month of membership. And I quite often retire from the game for several weeks when I'm bored, so that would be a big waste of membership days. "But Jagex must leave an incentive to purchase p2p. In this case it would probably be the unbalanced magic abilities that could lead to you buying a membership. I'm sure you would enjoy the mage experience in members far more than in f2p." Maybe you're right. If so, then screw you Jagex :wall: The Combat Triangle is very unbalanced for the F2P mage, and it's quite easy to fix it, without making too many P2P-ers angry. I mean, who ever uses Splitbark in P2P? Most people use Ancients for PvP, so adding Wave spells to F2P would be an ok thing to do. Same counts for giving Snare to F2P. I use full Druidic (Higher % for Bind to succeed), Runecrafter gloves, an amulet of magic, and my Explorer's ring to have the maximum + magic attack possible for F2P. Still, I stand no chance against a melee-er in my level range. Bind doesn't last too long to get to a good safe spot, Fire Blast hits too low and is too inaccurate, and the debuffs aren't any good either. But I agree with you that Magic is a nice and usefull skill, but it lacks when it comes to PvP.
