Kaida23's Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero!
Thanks guys. :) As I'm sure you all know, his week saw a major update to the free game with the removal of trial memberships and the permanent addition of Taverly and Burthorpe and their related quests and skill training to F2P. This has garnered much debate among free players with many feeling that training of any members skill (whether available on free worlds or not) is against the principals that our community was founded on, and others feeling that anything that is available without purchasing membership is fair game. Generally speaking, we seem to have settled on allowing people to explore and enjoy these new features, including the quests and training the members skills to level 5, and simply not counting them towards clan hiscores or the Top 250 Lists. It's impressive that we came to this decision as quickly as we did, having but a scant few days between the initial announcement and its implementation in-game. It just goes to show how excellent the free community is, and how dedicated we are to both each other and the game we love. Personally, I had decided that anything available on free worlds was open to all and had begun exploring the new content before either my clan or the List team had come to their decisions. Perhaps this was bit reckless of me, but I was confident they would also come to a similar decision. I started going through the tutorial, fending off a massive troll invasion that threatened these new areas before I'd even had a chance to fully explore them! Along the way I finished off the new quests, gaining 7 more quest points. [hide=4 New Quests] [/hide] Afterwards, with the troll threat essentially neutralized, I was named a Knight of the Talon as appreciation for my efforts in stopping the invasion. Yeah, that's right, I'm a hero! Bow before me puny mortals! :P I then went about training the new skills I'd learned about along the way, maxing each of them out at level 5. Taking screenshots of every single level up seemed like too much overkill, so I only got pics of the final level for each. [hide=maxed out members skills] [hide=Construction level 5] [/hide] [hide=Agility level 5] [/hide] [hide=Summoning level 5] [/hide] [hide=Hunter level 5] [/hide] [hide=Herblore level 5] [/hide] [hide=Fletching level 5] [/hide] [hide=Farming level 5] [/hide] [hide=Thieving level 5] [/hide] [hide=Slayer level 5] [/hide] [/hide] And in between all of that, the extra SoF spins I got from the quests brought me a couple of xp lamps which gave me another Prayer level. [hide=Prayer level 64] [/hide] Now, the sharp eyed of you may have noticed that I got my Construction up to level 5 as well, even though training of that skill has been locked. It turns out that it can still be leveled with the use of lamps, of which there are more than enough to be had while completing the new quests to get it up to level 5 without ever having lifted a single hammer or saw. Work smarter, not harder. ;) I didn't have as much time for smithing as I wanted this week, so I'm still about 300k xp away from level 95. However, I was able to get another Magic and combat level. [hide=Magic level 94 and combat level 156] [/hide] Hopefully, I'll be able to get 95 Smith by tomorrow or Monday. Wow, this was a big one. I haven't gained this many levels in such a short period of time since after I got 99 Mining. Don't worry, next week will be quieter. I promise. Until next time blog lovers!

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
QFT. No girlfriend/wife/partner will ever love you as much as your dog does. Of course, girlfriends (hopefully) slobber less when they kiss you. :P

Would you like a GE?
Isn't a lack of a G.E. one of the reasons people wanted an old version of RS brought back? I don't think it would be very well received if Jagex tried to implement it in 07Scape.

[07] Would you like a GE? Why or why not?
Since you restarted this in the OSR section, I'll just lock this one.

Oh wow. I remember playing MechWarrior 2 way back in the 90's. Online looks awesome, too bad my comp would never run it. :(

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
It's no more physically awkward than when a girl is a lot shorter than a guy, it just has the perception of being less socially acceptable. Height, like every other physical trait, has no bearing on how well a relationship will work. We all have certain traits that we're attracted to which establishes the initial attraction. Their personality does the rest.

Stompin' Tom Connors dies at 77
http://www.cbc.ca/ne...n-tom-obit.html It was a slightly sadder Canada I woke up to this morning with the announcement of the death of our own legendary country-folk singer, and lover of all things Canadian, Stompin' Tom Connors. :( He was especially popular here in the Ottawa/Gatineau area and the radio stations have been airing tributes and having people call in with their stories of him all day. And what stories. Stories of drinking with the patrons in small pubs when he was just starting out. Of a couple that met his family in PEI and how that turned into a personal meeting the next time he came to Ottawa. Of refusing to play one night in Kemptville when someone stole his stompin' board, and when everyone (who'd been drinking of course) started getting upset and rowdy they called the OPP in to resolve it and get his board back, at which point he was happy as a pig in filth and played long past when the place would have normally closed. Of the time he was receiving the Governor General's Award in Ottawa and refused to stay in one of the posh hotels downtown like everyone else, instead insisting on a small motel on Carling Ave. like one of his fans might stay in where he could smoke and have a beer. The limo company even sent an older, seldom used one to pick him up so he could smoke in it and replaced the champagne in the bar with his favorite beer. Stories of how everyone who met him remembered it for the rest of their lives. He never left his beloved homeland, though it limited his reach and career prospects (especially in an era before the internet), and never once regretted it, feeling those who left Canada to further their careers in the US had, as he put it, 'jumped the fence'. I never got the chance to see him perform live myself, but my parents were big fans and I grew up listening to his music and remain a fan to this day. I still remember a few years ago when one of the local radio DJ's spent an entire afternoon playing nothing but Stompin' Tom songs (on a rock station no less) to protest the fact that he had not been nominated that year for some award or other (I honestly can't recall which). They obviously did not have any of his albums, so the DJ spent his own money on a half dozen of them from the store down the road from the station, and listeners brought in their own from home so that the marathon could continue. I heard later that the station had it's highest ratings ever that afternoon. As I understand it, there is now even debate on whether or not he should receive a state funeral. While I can think of no finer way to say goodbye to one of Canada's most beloved sons, I can't help but think it's not what he would have wanted. Somehow a few friends, good music and a cold beer to wash it all down with seems more his style. Do any of the rest of you have stories or memories of this fine man?

Just a reminder for everyone: Even though the Oldschool section doesn't have dedicated subforums yet, topics like this are subject to the same rules as the main game sections. Marketplace offers like this are for posting offers and counter offers, not debating if you agree with the price or not.

4th March - The World Wakes
So the reworked Prince Ali and Doric quests got voiced and one of the biggest storyline quests in ages wasn't? I guess they only need to try and impress people before they buy membership.

What movie(s) did you last see?
*Pfft* Who stays past the credits on a DVD? :P I'll have to check that out when I get home tonight. Even if he does take it off, it's still worlds better than Sylvester Stallone keeping it off for most of the movie.
