  1. I've always felt this way, but I don't know much about graphics so I never said it. I'm glad Out did :) It seems to me that JAGeX has achieved way more in RS than most JAVA games. Take a look at the RS trees, ground, house interiors, etc. It's really detailed, even if you play on "low detail." Think about when you see a dagger or a cake on the ground (not in your inventory). You can tell it's a dagger/cake, even if you never player RS before! The same could be said for most items. lpinkus
  2. You quite frankly what music? I'm not sure if that was a typo, but it you meant to say you hate music, wow. That's kinda sad. Anyways, yes, carpentry could be a versatile and beneficial trade in RS. I'm just saying don't expect it to be anywhere near as engaging as real life carpentry. By the way, why have you been capitalizing Carpentry? Man, I never thought I'd type "carpentry" so much in my life! lpinkus
  3. Er, I don't think digging is worth introducing. Seems worse than farming :) Maybe you'd have to "shovel" someones walkway as part of a quest, but that would be about it. lpinkus
  4. I'm an avid fisherman, and the fishing in Runescape is not nearly as fun since I know it to be in real life. So, I can't imagine why you'd want to see how RS carpentry compares. That's not a knock against you or JAGeX or anyone, it's just that any RS skill is, obviously, watered down. Trust me, you won't be measuring wood or adjusting torque if carpentry comes out :) I'm also a music teacher by trade, so I don't want to see a music skill in RS, either :) lpinkus
  5. Agreed. A game may have seemingly beautiful graphics, but you'll still find a lot better at the museum or in nature :) But the actual "game" part of the game (skills, strategies, etc.) is where its creator's creativity is most evident. lpinkus
  6. You know, I really do agree with you that it's not really because of the gambling thing. Still, even if there's luck involved in a PvP format, it's not the same as player vs. casino :) lpinkus
  7. I would insist on trying it out first. Part of the appeal of RS (2) for me is that it's so simple. My buddy has been trying to get me to play Guild Wars, Galaxies, games like that, but I really don't want to play anything that complicated. I'm probably in the minority on that, I guess. lpinkus
  8. Point taken. I didn't think of that  I see. I agree with you in terms of the currently implemented games. Also, no biggie, but it's actually "L" Pinkus :) It's ok, you're not the first to make that mistake. lpinkus
  9. Well, yes and no. When you stake another the player, one guy is a winner. However, if you play blackjack at a casino, it's the casino that comes out the winner, every time. Sure, a person may come out ahead on some nights, but the casino itself comes out on top every night. Remember, if you have a million dollars and bet 10 bucks a pop on any casino game, you will eventually lose it all. My point is that it's possible to wisely stake other players and make profit. There's no "wise" way to gamble, since you'll always lose eventually. lpinkus
  10. Well, distance and time :) And they're often proportionate to one another. lpinkus
  11. Another easy way to introduce billions of gp into the game? Great idea. Sarcasm! :) lpinkus
  12. Better updates meaning the dragon plate, or better updates meaning new f2p mage armour? I kid because I can :) lpinkus
  13. I should have written that more carefully. I didn't mean "unless" the RS world gets much bigger, I meant when it does. I realize it will increase in size. Then, when it has, there will be a possibility to increase the maximum for players per world. lpinkus
  14. Extremely well said. Everyone who plays Runescape should read that paragraph. I can't say enough how much I agree with that. lpinkus
  15. I'm not flaming, but the whole idea of these new drops is that they're for fun as opposed to function. JAGeX still regrets, I'm sure, the catch 22 that was created by the current rares. Therefore, they're careful to make new holiday drops both silly and untradeable. lpinkus
  16. Yup. I already made a post to that effect on another topic. Seems harmless, but people do get addicted to gambling, just like tobacco/alcohol/drugs. lpinkus
  17. Not really appropriate, regardless of how silly the idea is. On topic, it's a terrible idea to re-drop the rares :) I think rares are super lame, but they do keep other prices down. So, no. New, untradeable holiday items, fine. lpinkus
  18. Everytime this idea gets brought up, regardless of what's being dropped, I say the same thing: Less clicking is fine, asl long as it still takes a reasonable amount of time to drop each item. Perhaps the same amount of time as fletching a bow. The chat screen would say: You drop a burnt lobster. You drop a burnt lobster. You drop a burnt lobster. And so on. No one gains xp any faster, yet their wrists feel much better :) A good thing. lpinkus
  19. It does seem to be incongruous, yes, that they'll only help you if they see you in person. Like used car salesmen :) However, it would make slayer too easy, simple as that. Those whip prices will fall eventually... :) lpinkus
  20. That says it all, I feel. The RS "economy" is already a big disappointment to many players (although not me), so I don't think making it more complex would assuage them. lpinkus
  21. LOL! It was an innocent little "n" that changed the carpeter into a carpenter. lpinkus
  22. I love snow, too :) However, a possible problem - it would be hard to see everything on the ground in the currently non-snowy areas. Those areas are, well, most of the RS world :) lpinkus
  23. Yup. I agree. Also, gambling itself is tricky. In general, if you add it to a game you might be met with criticism, since gambling can be addictive just like alcohol/drugs. Yes, that's not a super serious concern, but some do care about that. lpinkus
  24. There's no probably about it-they won't be f2p. Sorry f2p players :) lpinkus
  25. I'm not sure if increasing the number of people per server is an option, unless the RS world itself has grown substantially. lpinkus
