  1. I'm always supportive of an idea to make trading simpler. I would have to say that this idea should only work in "designated trading zones." Or, in lieu of that, just create designated trading zones. Then, it would be very easy to implement a trading system in that new, expanded area. lpinkus
  2. You said it :) This topic has seen its last. Moral of the story: Play RS with maturity regardless of our age. Don't beg, don't scam, cand don't use the word "noob" without good reason. Or, at all. lpinkus
  3. Yay! He agrees with my point. Thank you for your support :) Just about any choice you ever make in RS is somehow reversible. This is an extremely important aspect to the game. It seems very open ended, but when you consider the amount of players and all the different skills they may want to work on, it makes sense. The exceptions, however, are that you can neither "undo" a quests, nor decrease (permanantly) your levels/xp. lpinkus My problem with this is that it takes skill/difficulty out of the game. Take the family crest quest, for instance. It used to be a challenge, picking which gauntlets would be best for you. Now it doesn't even matter anymore. Don't want to burn some lobsters? Oh, I can just go change my gauntlets! Want more experience for gold smelting? No problem! Give the old gauntlets a change... You know, I do agree with you about the gaunlets. I assume they changed it because of people who complained...that the choice wasn't reversible! Ah well. lpinkus
  4. Heh. I've never bothered to wonder how the RS banks keep track of my things :) Still, if computers seem too hi-tech, just imagine they're communicating about your account with some sort of tele-conferencing, muchike tele-porting. So there ya go. lpinkus
  5. Thanks for the opinions guys. Hope to see you all at CW. lpinkus
  6. This would still be better than the way it is now, because barricades don't move. It would be fine by me. I don't really agree that running around in circles adds "strategy" to the game. I admit I haven't played CW on World 2, but even a mediocre level 50-60 can waste a lot of time running around with the flag. How you siege the castle, protect the castle, that's strategy. The incentive to kill the flagger (the person holding his own flag, I assume you mean) is to make him drop the flag, no? lpinkus

  8. i didn't know you could bundle logs, i thought that was sticks? Um, you can't. The things in that list are items that are not stackable or bag-able. When you cut logs, they do indeed appear as a "pile" of logs in your inventory, but it really could be considered one big log for all intents and purposes; whether you fletch it or light it or whatever, it can be used only once. Probably wasn't necessary to clear that up, but oh well :) lpinkus
  9. A good example, but again, there are examples that support both arguments. It's not really valid to argue either way. Still, the medieval influences are surely there. And it's "medieval." :) lpinkus
  10. Um, could you explain that? How does being able to hold one's own flag for 30 seconds make it easier to get it away from them? That's why I suggested 15 seconds, so when a lvl 107 is carrying his own flag and running around to evade you, you know he will have drop it at some point. I thought of something else, too. How about if one is significantly weakened if they are carrying their own flag for longer than 10 seconds or so? This would force the person to pass it off or get it back to the base. lpinkus
  11. nothing is ever too late! :D It's a good idea.. I *suppose* that may be true, and I don't mind the idea. But I'm still on the fence. I will say this. Notice how you can do anything you want in RS, no matter which skill you trained first. You become a mage, you work it up to level 75, you get tired of it. Now, you can become a ranger, warrior, miner, etc., and there's no disadvantage because you started with mage. My point is that you can do one thing or everything, no matter when. So, I would have to assume with this race thing that you could change back and forth whenever you wanted, similar to changing your sex/clothing with the makeover mage. lpinkus
  12. Lol. I'm sure you're not the same guy I saw doing it :) Anwyays, there are other problems with the 'cades, as you metnioned. I like that a lot, but 30 seconds is too long. 15 is better. lpinkus
  13. Come on guys, if you want to discuss this make a new post in "Off Topic." I requested it be moved already, but I'm sure they've been busy. This is no longer about RS. lpinkus
  14. I was generally delighted when I first tried castle wars. However, a few things could be fixed, I feel. 1) I'm sure others have experienced this, but I only saw it for the first time last night. Some guy was sabotaging his own team by setting up barricades inside the bandage room. Pretty lame :) Anwyays, there's no actual advantage I can think of for the barricades being there, so how about the message "You cannot set up a barridace here." Make sense? 2) Players carrying their own flag. For example, a Sara player is carrying the Zammy flag, he's killed, a Zammy player picks up the Zammy flag. Then he runs around with it without returing it to the base, keeping it in limbo. I usually see this done by a very high-level player. Two fixes I can think of: one, the flag is automatically returned to the base. I can see problems with this, but it's an idea. Or, two, you may only carry your own flag for 5-15 seconds. Either you pass it off, or after the time elapses it will be dropped. I think 1) is more crucial, but 2) does happen a lot, too. Anyone else have another fix for number 2? lpinkus
  15. Well, things are indexed. This would just index them further. Personally, I just scan them and post on what I feel like. If I feel like reading/posting about a certain thing, I use the, erm, search button. But hey, I have no problem with further categorization. lpinkus
  16. I think arch needs to be cut some slack :) It's just an idea, but it's similar to suggesting horses; it's been suggested 4982 times and been flamed just as often. You didn't know what you were getting into, that's all. Besides, I think people like to flame now and then. It breaks the routine of making logical, serious posts. Well, for some it's more the opposite :) lpinkus
  17. That's very well said. I've seens hundreds of posts on whether RS is medieval or not (with "medieval" misspelled 75% of the time), and edge finally said what I had yet to see. Yes, there's no official time. However, there are no cars. There are ships. There are no skyscrapers. There are castles. There are no microwaves. There are people lighting fires to cook food. Not necessarily medieval, but closer to medieval than modern. And, as far as a jousting arena goes, I say go for it. People will get to see some horses* without being able to ride them everywhere, which we all agree is too much. Contained, it could happen. ** I apologize for even suggesting that an idea including horses is feasible, due to the usual flaming on player-owned horse topics/posts. I realize the danger in doing this, and again, I apologize. lpinkus
  18. Ditto! A level 100 asked me for "free stoof" today. Really. Wow, we bumped a year old topic :) I'm surprised I didn't post on it before... lpinkus
  19. You can always choose to be human  Well, as long as human means balanced (like it is now), then I'd choose human. And, I'd have no problem with choosing races in this case. lpinkus
  20. After seeing many posts like this from Zon, I gotta admit I'm taking a liking to them :) Taking real world crafting/forging concepts and shooting down ideas. Well done. Since I know nothing of that, I will say that in *Runescape* (not real) the weapons are fine :) If this building up/breaking down concept were introduced, it should olny be with new weapons, as with Barrows equipment lpinkus
  21. Archimage, I think you've been horribly insensitive in your posts. You and others have no need to insult people like that. That has nothing to do with being religious; it has to do with being decent in general. I think people are taking it too seriously, but if they are offended, it's really their right. I'm religious, but I try to save my reporting and speaking up when I see things that aren't allowed on public TV. I don't think arguing about this topic will help much, sadly. The only real solution is to develop tolerance and understanding. If you're tolerant of others, they will respect you. If you're understanding of others, you will earn their respect. I'm no mod, but I think this should be locked or moved. Peace, lpinkus
  22. What a perfectly vicious little cycle :) You get your prayer up for an advantage, you use it and get called a noob, you fight someone in the wild and they turn prayer on, you call them a noob. Then, JAGeX comes out with a no-praying prayer, and you turn it on so the other guy can't pray, but he turns it on you, etc., etc., etc. Wow, these posts were *really* confusing :) I've never seen the word prayer so much. The answer is...deal with it. If it was REALLY unfair, JAGeX would do something about it, like make the drain rate faster if you're in the wildy or something to that effect. Oh, and another thing, directed at the frustrated PKers: PKing is *supposed* to be hard to do. It's also a risky thing to do, since you can a) get killed, or B) spend a lot of time and food on fruitless pking trips. Such is 'scaping :) lpinkus
  23. I agree. It's not a bad idea in theory, but it's too late to add the classes now. I wouldn't like how it changed the bonuses to my character. Maybe if it were optional? lpinkus
  24. Cute. I could certainly see it happening. I like any new idea that doesn't have to do with scimitars :) lpinkus
