Limited trial for f2p...could it happen!?
That's nicely said. I forgot about the people who can't pay due to location and such. About the other free games mentioned, are they also online? And is the software also free? Do you consider those games better than RS? I like the way Outsanity says things. Maybe it's because outsanity is the opposite of insanity :) lpinkus

f2p special attacks
Well said If that happened, many, if not most of these f2ps would also be begging their parents for five more dollars a month :) lpinkus

Anti-Follow option
I know it's annoying, but log out and log back in. It's worked every time for me, and I spent the time logged out getting a delicious soft drink. lpinkus

f2p special attacks
Ive said it before adn ill say it again. f2p is NOT a DEMO. f2p is full, complete, living breathing game. P2P is an EXPANSION with members BENIFETS. Well said, again :) I'm p2p, but I am quite impressed that f2p is what it is. I just made a post yesterday, many of you saw it probably, about there being a time limit for f2p. I don't think there should be one, but that doesn't make it any less impressive that you get a game to play for nothing. I would even understand if JAGeX put a level limit on f2ps, say 85 or so, to try to coax them into being members. But they don't :) They're cool like that. lpinkus

Unarmed training for magic and ranged
You just made my point yourself, but I'll reiterate it. This idea would too much easy xp, even if it's a small amount. And a small amount still has a pretty big effect on getting lvls 1-10. That's why I think actually picking up the rocks is necessary-it keeps you from getting levels too fast. By the way, if you wish this to be *purely* for fun, like the rubber chickens (no xp, no damage), then fine, no inventory slot :) lpinkus

Limited trial for f2p...could it happen!?
Are any of these other games free? Just curious. I would say the time it took for me to be really "hooked" was one month. lpinkus

saws
Lol. Say that ten times fast :) You see that saw that I saw? Yes, I saw the saw you see. This applies to many similar suggestions, but you have to be careful about implementing too many new items or. Chisels can be used on wood in real life, but in Runescape the line is drawn at gems, bones, etc., to keep it simpler. So, you use a knife to cut wood (fletching). Now, a paring knife would work better in real life on fruit, wouldn't it? Well, it's not necessary in RS. I appreciate the idea, but I'll just use my axe and knife until notified of a change. lpinkus

Shop Rental Idea
I respectfully disagree. One of the charms of Runescape is the very fact that's it's so involved, yet you don't have download and install it. I happened upon RS when I followed a link from a friend's site to Miniclip.com. I was playing some other game, when I noticed the "Top Games" list. I saw RS, said to myself, "Wow, that's complicated, let me just take a peek at it." Well, that peek has gone on a looooong time :) When I read this idea, I thought it was going to be about renting weapons. Say, renting a sword for gp and then it disappearing after a certain time :) lpinkus

Unarmed training for magic and ranged
I can understand that, since the triangle balance thing seems to be important to people. Seriously, tho, since you first get a weapon to wield, how many times do you *choose* to fight unarmed? There are quests and certain areas that require it, but few and far in between. lpinkus

Cocoa bean trees and making chocolate bars.
Until someone convinces me otherwise, I think that boxes/crates of food is actually a pretty good idea. It also happens to be a good *money drain,* and everyone seems to want those. I also hate waiting for those 2 darn chocolate bars in Yanille :) lpinkus

Limited trial for f2p...could it happen!?
After posting twice on topics by f2p people, I thought of something interesting. What if, someday, JAGeX implemented a limited trial period on f2p? This is not something I think should happen, I'm just curious if anyone thinks it would. Think about this... 1-You try out runescape as f2p 2-You play a lot and enjoy the game, but realize you want more to do 3-You become a member, either by coughing up the five bucks or begging your parents :) Now, this is what keeps JAGeX in business. And, despite the are many people who are f2p who never plan on turning p2p, I assume they're doing fine. How many other games have an unlimited free trial? Not many, I assume. So, the question remains, can you see JAGeX ever deciding to, maybe being forced to, implement a limit to the free trial? I'm p2p, but I have just as much respect for f2p people as p2p, by the way. It was just something I was curious about. Sorry if it's a scary thought to all the f2p people out there :) lpinkus

Ranger Armor
I posted this about 10 minutes ago. This is how Runescape actually works... 1-You try out runescape as f2p 2-You play a lot and enjoy the game, but realize you want more to do 3-You become a member, either by coughing up the five bucks or begging your parents :) This is what keeps JAGeX in business. If you play only as a f2p, realize that it's really just a preview in the hopes that you become a member. In fact, it's an extremely generous preview, since the trial period is...forever! I could see that changing someday, though, not that I want that to happen to f2p people. lpinkus

sleeping
I agree with Bubs, as usual. I never played runescape during the Fatigue era, but I think I'd like the current system better. Both might be fine, tho, where you could sleep to restore your energy faser. Or nap, actually :) lpinkus

f2p special attacks
Agreed, some things are just for p2p. This is just one advantage of many, but that's what the whole f2p/p2p is based on. 1-You try out runescape as f2p 2-You play a lot and enjoy the game, but realize you want more to do 3-You become a member, either by coughing up the five bucks or begging your parents :) This is what keeps JAGeX in business. lpinkus

Unarmed training for magic and ranged
For the record, I really do like the idea of throwing rocks. That's the only reason I keep posting on this topic :) I just insist on picking them up. The rock-throwing would not have to involve, as you said, "a massive amount of clicking." You would just equip the rocks just as you'd equip arrows. And, even though your fists are nouns, they are attatched to your body. Rocks, for the most part, do not come attatched to human beings :) lpinkus

Beggars at any level...
I agree with you, Out. And for the record, I don't think it's wrong to pick up a whip/dragon/rune item that someone died and dropped. That's part of the game. I'd probably wait a bit for someone to PM me or come back to the location, tho. My point was that if it's an item/profit you really don't need, why harm a newbie? One time, back when I was lvl 60 or so, someone dropped various runes, arrows, a robe or something when they died. I picked it up, and at the time the runes were useful to me. Well, a second later, a guy showed up along with the "girl" who died and says, "hey jerk, give my sister's stuff back." I was planning on giving it all back, but I siad nothing and gave him back only half since he called me a jerk. I'm not sure what his reaction was, as I'm pretty sure they're both still on my ignore list :) What goes around comes around. lpinkus

climbing over fences/things that get in teh way
Lol. That sure sounds like a new fighting sytle to me. It also sounds like what you see on ESPN when football (American football) is on a local network :) I don't care for this breaking through obstacles thing, but if it did happen, who is fixing the wall after you break through? Or the fence? Or the locked door/gate? And, after you go through, can someone else come through behind you? For how long? These are things JAGeX would have to consider. By the way, if you want to fix the wall yourself, guess what? New skill: bricklaying :) "You barge the lathe with your trowel" lpinkus

Improvements to the chat system
That's pretty ironic, considering whatever you entered as your location was removed. No personal filters. If you wanted to make your own chat filter, you'd need a parent's permission. JAGeX assumes few parents are checking out what happens in RS, therefore they try themselves to make the game a bit more wholesome. It may be annoying to have non-offensive words blocked out by accident, but that's how it goes. Sorry, there was a topic recently about chat filter changes and I was still thinking about it. lpinkus

Death animations
I dunno, I thought the water turning bloody was pretty gross, and I'm over 21. You never know what will mess someone's mind up. It doesn't even have to be violent-I bet Rainbow Brite drove people mad. lpinkus

Best. Suggestion: Skeleton Greatar
If this were the case, imagine a newbie who kills one of these proposed monsters and gets the l/h shield drop. Maybe he doesn't even pick it up, or sells it to the general store, figuiring he oughta save space for tinderboxes, wooden shields, cowhides, etc. :) lpinkus Crim, I liked that thing about having a kid named John and pronouncing it Bob :) lpinkus

New weapons
Everyone seems to want new weapons these days :) I'm not even tired of my halberd yet! Anwyays, it's fine by me, I guess. Using a key on the chaos altar tho, no. Keys go with locks, talismans go with altars. lpinkus

2 New Spells:Conceal and Reveal
This is similar to an "invisibility potion" thread from a while back. I don't really have a problem with this, but I assume it would be a bit hard to program. Maybe not, tho. I also don't PK, so their opinion counts more than mine. lpinkus

Runescape content going more and more downhill
I have to say that agree with Troll, despite some new areas being goofy. I haven't come across the Frog Bazooka, yet :) It's exaggerating a bit, I feel, to say there's only one thing to do in the newer cites. In the Gnome area, for example, you can train agility, cooking (bar and restaurant in the tree), fletching and wc (flax, magic trees), and, my fave, pickpocketing. There are others, I'm sure. Also, I think all of these cities will get more complex in time, providing a greater variety of things to do. I'd rather they start the new areas sooner than work on them for a year before releasing them. lpinkus

Improvements to the chat system
Lol, agreed. And all 8 suggestions are good. I would especially like to click less when "talking" to NPCs. I can't imagine how many times I've clicked "Search away, I have nothing to hide." The Al Kharid toll gate dialog, same thing. lpinkus
