So if you have 20 million, you can take out 20 million? That's doubling your money, and that sounds like too much for RS. In RL, you get a loan for *more* than you have, yes, but you also show "proof" that you can pay it off. How would JAGeX keep track of that? Also, the assasin does not work for me. There should be no chance to get out of this if you were trying to dupe the system. I think you shoud have to put up specific collateral (you pick the items), which you'd lose immediately and unconditionally if you did not pay up. I still don't like the idea, tho :) lpinkus

I appreciate the creativity, but I don't think this is gonna work. It sounds like an easy way for players to make use of gp they haven't earned yet. Also, how would it be decided what items are taken in the case of an unpaid loan? lpinkus

I agree. This would just turn bad, unfortunately. Sadly, I do see racist things in RS. I report them immediately, and I hope others do, too. It also really offends me when players change their skin color, then say things that stereotype and most likely offend some race that fits that skin color. It's completely ridiculous. The fact that you're not proud of your country isn't relevant. No one would be forced to fill out a profile, I'm sure. Try posting those things in off-topic. lpinkus

Making money implies profit (or counterfeiting :P), so whatever Jagex made, it was $2.5m - expenses. it really doesnt matter because you guys are assuming all the people who play are members, which they arent :P Check back a page or two. They were celebrating 500k members, not total players, according to the post. Just so we have our numbers right. lpinkus

The Jagex Mods were celebrating the over 500k members mark last month. So they made $2.5+ million last month. What?! You mean all their advertising, staff wages and server costs are done for free? :shock: Bubsa beats me to the punch again :) They do have *some* costs, you know. I'm sure they net plenty, but it's less than what you said. I find it funny when everyone talks about goverments getting involved with video game violence and such. Yes, there is "violence" in RS, but if you pay attention, you'll notice how well it's integrated into the RS world. Talk to the characters, do the quests - no NPC ever tells you to kill someone for no reason. Mostly they just tell you long, boring stories. Now *that's* more true to real life! :) lpinkus lpinkus

I like the idea of boats, if implemented carefully, but why did you bump a post that wasn't even an hour old? I think the biggest danger boats would add is people getting arounf too easy. We can already get around pretty darn good with all sorts of teleports and ships. It can't be *too* easy. lpinkus

Nice job, well explained. RS is based on this regeneration system, otherwise RS would be overcrowded with junk. Simple concept, really. Should not be messed with. As far as the rares go...sigh. I think they're lame. I think they look silly. I think it's a total waste of gp and a silly way for merchants to get really rich. However, I've been arguing about it for a long time, and people (Duke Freedom, mostly) have convinced me that they actually keep prices down for people like me who wouldn't pay 1 gp for a phat. So, leave the rares alone. They'll be gone someday. lpinkus

Egg nog is one of my favorite things in life, but I gotta tell you: on New Year's I'll be drinking egg nog with my family and friends, celebrating the past year, welcoming the new one, and resolving to better myself in the future. I always try to be polite/engouraging myself, but it's *not* a good idea! It never has been (it's been suggested many times) Don't sugarcoat it :) Seriously, there are horrible economic consequences to a nature/chaos/death staff. They should never, ever happen, even if you had to be 99 mage to use it. And, if you're 99 mage, you're likely too rich and powerful to even need it. Sorry to seem rude :) lpinkus

I think having a tooth fairy is a clever idea for a random event, but... Limit the money. I hate to be a wet towel, but take a look at the current rewards from random events: uncut sapphires, a hundred gp, *rarely* a half key or something like that. Now don't get me wrong, gp is the way to go, since that's what the tooth fairy gived you in, um, *real* life. The point is 1 mil is way too much. The one necklace you described sounds too powerful at +20 magic att/def. The other sounds ok. lpinkus

Sure, they have that info, but with this idea they'd have to implement a program that runs according to that info, which does not sound easy to me. I'd rather have a new high-level NPC for thieving. Others the dragon plate, others POHs, etc. lpinkus
