Terms in this guide explained Basic Melee Weapon: Chaotic Rapier, Abyssal Whip, Dragon Scimitar, Dragon Longsword Best Stab: Chaotic Rapier, Zamorakian Spear, Leaf-Bladed Sword Best Crush: Saradomin Sword, Zamorakian Spear, TzHaar-Ket-Om/Dragon Mace Aberrant Spectres [hide] General Overview Aberrant Spectres are a fast. cannonable task. They require 60 Slayer to kill and are an excellent source of herbs. Spectres are also a decent task for charms due to the high blue and mediocre crimson droprate and the speed at which you kill them. They are a very low priority to block and will profit even if you cannon and pick up the 6k+ herbs. Alch runes are not required on this task despite a decent Rune Full Helm droprate, as most of the time the alch runes will simply get in the way of herbs. There are two places to fight Aberrant Spectres: the Canifis Slayer Tower and the Pollivneach Slayer Dungeon. Both are very difficult to get to without Slayer Rings. However, if one has a house in Pollivneach, the Slayer Dungeon is obviously much more accessible. The Pollivneach Slayer Dungeon also has two distinct advantages over the Canifis Slayer Tower - cannons are allowed inside and the area is multicombat. Therefore, I would recommend using the Pollivneach Slayer Dungeon for Spectres at all times. If you do not have Slayer Rings, a house in Pollivneach is helpful. If you have neither, use an Amulet of Glory to teleport to Al Kharid and take the carpet ride south to Pollivneach. Note: You must have a facemask or Slayer Helm at all times when you fight Aberrant Spectres Economy Method The economy method is killing Aberrant Spectres without a cannon in the Desert Slayer Dungeon. Your setup should focus on prayer bonus, since you will be praying Protect from Mage throughout the task. Aberrant Spectres are a particularly nasty task for combat familiars, hitting 120+ very accurately. If you choose to use the Economy Method, bring two combat familiars or simply renew when you get to bank, because combat familiars (especially low-leveled ones) die very easily there. Terrorbirds seem like a good option for storing more herbs but they die far too fast there. For gear, wear full proselyte. Spectres are EXTREMELY weak to melee and have negligible defence, so bring your best standard melee weapon. You should be banking every 50 kills or so for more stuff. If you have less than 70 prayer, bring 4 prayer potions, if you have more than 70, bring 3. Bank using Rings of Duelling or Amulets of Glory. Lure as many Aberrant Spectres as you possibly can on yourself, as the Spectres are spaced fairly far apart. Cannon Method There are actually two cannon methods for this task. If you do not have 96 Summoning, set up your cannon in the southwest part of the Spectres' chamber. Combat familiars are not that useful and die easily on this task. I wouldn't bother with once, simply summon a Macaw for better herb drops. Since your cannon does most of the damage, focus on targeting spectres with low HP and finishing them off. Bring one Prayer potion just in case, but it's likely that you won't need it. I wouldn't bother with Turmoil/Piety if you don't have 96 summoning - you'll need too many prayer potions and your inventory will be squeezed. If you have 96 Summoning, bring a Pack Yak to bank herbs. In this case, I would recommend Piety/Turmoil. You should bring 7-8 prayer potions and a super set. [/hide] Abyssal Demons General Overview Abyssal Demons are a medium-speed, high-charm, high-profit task. They are a low priority to block. However, unless you powerslay, the high defence of Abyssal Demons can make this task take a very long time. The two locations that Abyssal Demons are killable at are the Canifis Slayer Tower and Kuradal's Dungeon. Use Kuradal's Dungeon when you have a task from her, obviously. The only difference between the two spots is that you use a Ferocious Ring at Kuradal's Dungeon. You can also mage Abyssal Demons - while this is a far slower method than meleeing, Abyssal Demons are fairly good magic experience and I would recommend maging if you have maxed melees but not maxed magic. One more tip: Don't expect a whip every task. Melee Powerslaying Method Use the best standard melee weapon you have. Pray Turmoil/Piety. The best familiar at Abyssal Demons is a Pack Yak with banking scrolls. Bring a Bunyip if you do not have 96 Summoning or 92 Prayer, a Unicorn is massive overheal. Store some extra prayer potions in your Yak, as Demons are a fairly long task even if powerslaying. Since defense is a complete nonissue at Abyssal Demons, feel free to use a Torso or Proselyte Body if you don't have a Bandos Chestplate. Note: A Dragon Dagger special attack is far too inaccurate to be of much use on Abyssal Demons. Dragon Claws are easily the best offensive special weapon you can use on Abyssal Demons. Melee Economy Method Use the best standard melee weapon you have. Pray 10% strength and use a Bunyip for healing. You may wish to bring 3 super sets (2 extreme sets) if this is a long task, as well as a Summoning or Super Restore potion if you have a low Summoning level. Again, defense is not an issue so use a Torso. Magic Method The easiest spell to use on Abyssal Demons is Fire Wave, which can max 350+ with a ferocious ring and a Wolpertinger/Extreme Magic Potion. You can also use Fire Surge if money is no object, but you are not likely to profit this way.
