Minecraft General
So, my birthday was on the 10th. Got two new games. Two days later, I get this as well. Guess what I'm playing instead of my birthday presents >_> *ahem* Anyway, this is probably one of the best games I've ever played. I've always enjoyed the idea of starting with nothing and building up from there (hence why I play Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, The Sims, etc). This game seems to... express that exact thing that I love the most in games. Right now, I have... a (stubby) lookout tower on top of the cliff my underground base (with two areas covered in grass with torches for animal spawning, a farming field, and an obsidian making room) is built into. Plus a wooden house next to it that somehow I haven't stupidly burnt down yet. I'm prone to falling off of things, I'm surprised I haven't done anything to the house yet >.> Also, I watched a tutorial for a monster trap that I constructed and modified so it not only catches and drowns mobs, it also delivers the drops into my house's basement (and there's a loot indicator built with wooden pressure plates and redstone circuits that's... annoying to hook up properly) Right now, I am attempting to locate clay for the hell of it. Only material I haven't seen yet, for some reason. On peaceful mode right now, since I got tired of getting stealth ninja'd by creepers and not being able to find my base several times. Once I'm done screwing around with the clay, I'll switch it up to easy to at least test the mob trap. Then maybe some cave exploring. *hears a sheep baa'ing in the distance* nuisances, I already have two full squares of cloth a chest at home >_> EDIT: Of course, the moment I turn back to Minecraft, it's night. Perfect timing, as always. Just wanted to add that getting a compass is likely a priority - that and having your base very close to your spawn point means you can't get lost THAT easily. Hell, my wooden house is literally built on top of my spawn point. Honestly, now that I think of it, (random thought ftw) I have way, way too much food stored. 3 stacks of wheat plus a chest of pork (a big chest at that). I need something to use that on >.> I'd also like to note that, for any extended forays into the wild away from base, take supplies to make more tools with you (raw lumber and cobblestone at the very least) and a crafting bench. It really sucks finding a mine, burrowing down a good distance, and realizing the pick that you're just about to break is your last one and you have no supplies >.<

Tip.It Times: October 10
Been a while since I posted, but I might as well. First article: I personally enjoyed the game of Conquest that we had to do in Void Stares Back, but I hated the game of Soul Wars we had to do for Nomad's Requiem - partially due to lag and the fact I dislike having to rely on other people for anything after experiencing getting full void through Pest Control *shudders* I don't think it's fair to just generalize minigame inclusion in quests to purely negative, though. Some people really enjoy minigames, others don't. Therefore, some people are going to enjoy the fact that their favorite minigame is included in a quest, while others are just going to have to suck it up if they want the quest done. Honestly, I hate a vast majority of minigames (mainly ones that require teamwork, which means... almost all of them), but I'm still willing to try them for the sake of experiencing everything at least once, and hey. It's only one match (or tutorial) of a minigame. It can't be that bad. They could've asked, say, for us to max out a role in BA instead of just doing the tutorial, y'know :P I'll also note that I took 3 months and 15+ tries to kill Nomad >.> Also, I personally like Temple Trekking as a minigame. Can't say how many runs through I've done, but I know I've collected several hundred talon beast charms (and those I wasn't even there for, lol). As for other minigames that may/may not be used in future quests... can't see the Burthorpe Games Room being used for anything (it's too simplistic, plus it doesn't even have any sort of reward system, does it?). Since there are actual rewards (cosmetic or not) from MTA and Rogue's Den, there might be something there. That's my view, anyway. 2nd Article: I don't have that many active friends to begin with, and they usually don't change their names that often, but I know it'd be annoying to have to deal with everyone on one's friend list changing constantly >.<

Cant log into RS
According to a post I found on RSOF, a way to fix this is to log on using the "free to play" option, then choosing a members world from there. I had the exact same problem, this fixed it - I also noted that the worlds my comp usually chooses automatically are currently offline, so that's likely why it was refusing to log in.

Bonus Xp Weekend - September
Bought 20k addy bars about a week or so ago with the intent of starting on 99 smithing without sc hammers (before you ask, I hate playing sc, non combat or otherwise). Not sure if I want to put those bars towards 99 smithing, or just sell them when they peak for a nice chunk of change and just thieve for the weekend... 2.5 mill profit if I wanted to sell now, to begin with >_> Choices, choices. Anyway, I'm fairly neutral that there's another double xp weekend. It's nice to get that xp, but the fact that so many things become nearly unbuyable for 2 weeks previous, plus they could easily stay higher than they are now... meh. Just gotta go with the flow, I guess.

Tip.It Times - 15th August 2010
Very nice reads, as usual. I always find glitches in Runescape to be quite fascinating to read about, although I do wish there were more than just 3 ish described in each article - I'm a quick reader, so I tear through these articles within a few minutes of opening them, lol. I can understand time and space constraints for them to only be this long, though. The account sharing thing I have seen in the past - I personally have witnessed a few people (I assume were part of a clan or something) talking about getting someone else in their clan to do something on their account for them, or vice versa. I also remember a different person (also apart of the same clan I would assume) commenting on being careful about what the first person was talking about, although the first guy kinda waved him off saying, "it's not like anyone would bother to report me" or something similar. I personally am neutral on the subject, although I personally would never ask a friend or family member to do something for me on my account since, to me anyway, my levels and such are accomplishments, and getting someone else to do stuff for me takes away from the sense of accomplishment. Basically, I believe if you're foolish enough to get someone to do something for you on your own account, you're foolish enough to lose said account, regardless of what Jagex's rules are on the subject. As for the glitch article, I already knew about the safe deaths and falador massacre from my own reading on the wiki and such, but the pvp bug I didn't know about. Honestly, it seemed like... I dunno, an obvious thing that Jagex should've picked up on to begin with, but then again, I'm not too surprised they didn't. Maybe I'm just cynical or something :P

Can someone make me a prom plate please?
Well, I'll be on for most of today, so if you want me to help, just pm me - I'll leave my pm on. In case my siggy didn't load, I have 97 smithing, 81 mining - slight chance of a prom ore spawn, which is even better - I do have 89 herblore, so I can make a strong gatherer potion fairly easily :P Whichever world and floor works for you - my current run has been more than a little sporadic, so I might have all the floors you don't have done, already done. Doesn't matter too much to me, though. Be wary, though. I do have dialup, so I might either lag behind a tiny bit at times, or my internet might give out - if it does, I'd be back on within about 5 minutes. Sucks, but there's no way for me to avoid it. Oh, and whatever method to get ahold of the ore itself will work - personally, I'd think it'd be easier to clear the floor first, then make/sell air runes to get the rest of the cash needed, but whatever works for you.

04-Aug-10 Elite Treasure Trails!
The fury ornament kit marks one of the first ever times I'm actually buying something purely for cosmetic looks >_> Offer in on ge for max. I know the chances of getting one are near nill, but it's better than waiting for it to balance out wherever (and it likely will be far more expensive then, also knowing my luck). I suppose I could go back to killing iron/steel dragons in the hopes of getting another elite clue... already went through two elites from irons already. Turmoiling steels might be a better alternative for me, considering how expensive cannon + ranging irons was... >.>

Slayer tasks
I failed to mention that my... random canceling of tasks because "I don't feel like doing it" expands to some of the most profitable tasks that other slayers would likely hit me over the head for canceling :P Such as... spirit mages, any type of strykewyrm, blue dragons, maybe black dragons... well, you get the idea. The only super profitable task I won't skip are abby demons. If I get those, I'll go do something else till it's a better time of day and the crowds die down to do my task :P I also flat out refuse to cancel iron/steel/mithril dragons, or skeletal wyverns. I'll do those every single time I get them. Yes, I'm weird when it comes to metal dragons.
-
Slayer tasks
My thoughts on your tasks: Abberant spectres: I personally am iffy with them, sometimes I skip, sometimes I do. I never cannon, though. I don't really give a damn about the money if the task bores me. Plus, with the MTK glitch screwing with herb prices... well, I suppose you could just keep the herb drops and make em into potions for personal use, but... not everyone can/wants to do herblore, or use super attack/strengths (I use extremes, so... already stockpiled). Bloodvelds: Again, another somewhat boring, but decent xp, task. I do mutated velds (again, no cannon, but I might start turmoiling them if I ever get another veld task). Only really good for xp and green charms. Greater demons: Decentish xp, and a few crimson charms. Downside is they can be crowded in Kura's dungeon if you're on at the wrong times. Easy enough task though, once you get a spot. Nechryael: Bit more difficult task, but plenty of crimson charms and fairly good xp. Plus, plenty of seed drops and a couple rune boots. Steel dragons: This I know my opinion is a bit skewed on, since I have super antis, but honestly, I enjoyed metal dragon tasks even before I had them :P I know plenty of other people hate/block em, though. Anyway, we all have strings of annoying, irritating, crowded tasks that we really, really don't want to bother with, but... we're kinda stuck doing them anyway if we want to maintain our task streak. All we can do is suck it up and hope for a good task. Eventually. Generally, I try to suck up as many bad tasks as possible, get a nice big pile of slayer points, then I'll start knocking off tasks I don't wanna touch at that time. Of course, there aren't many tasks that I absolutely refuse to do (aquanites I stupidly unlocked, and hellhounds are my current block list, with terror dogs going on there as soon as I get a task), but there are usually a couple that I just "meh, don't wanna bother right now *skip*" Also, all of my money comes from slayer and farming, so I know how that feels. At least you have the ability to try boss hunting, I can't even try with my dialup internet. And yes, it does still exist if you live out in the middle of nowhere.

READ HERE FIRST FOR TEMPLATE!
Didn't see this anywhere, so I uploaded and posted this anyway (png format as requested, although I don't know what you'd want cropped out, so...) This was a clue labeled for the elf lands region, stating the orb had a scan range of 38 paces. Forgot to screenie the actual clue itself, but hopefully what I remember of it's details will help as well. After I dug this up, had the casket with a sliding puzzle embedded in the side of it - the corporeal beast one. I've seen screenies of it already, so I didn't upload that to post. The reward was 94 blood runes, 58 nature runes, 5 rune bars, dragon dagger and an ornamental kit for dragon platelegs/skirt. Total value of 1,174,562gp. The ornamental kit was 1 mill on it's own. If it's needed, I did a price check screenie after looting the casket, but didn't upload it since I'm on dialup and it'd take a while. If it's needed though, I'll upload and post that as well. 3-4 celtic knots, 2 slider puzzles, 2 guthix wizards at least for this clue scroll >.> took 3 hours, a bit over an hour was raging at my first celtic knot puzzle before looking for a guide to doing it on here, lol. Worth it, though, even if it's technically inefficient in terms of gp/hr. Edited to fix some of my poor wording.

Slayer: What tasks to you block/cancel?
My own block list right now: Aquanites (stupidly unlocked them thinking unicorn scroll healing would cover my ass, didn't come close with my luck) Hellhounds (boring, and I shy away from cannoning almost all the time, although I might unblock with the new dungeon) More tasks to be blocked later depending on how irritating some of them get. If I see terror dogs or kalphites once, they're going on the list. I use Kuradal for my tasks, and I tend to cancel tasks at will, depending on if I want to do them at that moment or not. Generally, it doesn't matter what the task is, if I've done it recently, I'll probably end up canceling. Even spirit mages. I don't like blue dragons much either, extremely crowded from my personal experience, although I should look around more. I love metal dragons and wyverns, though. The task length doesn't bother me at all.

02-Aug-10 Behind the Scenes August
Hm... it seems that my tokens are going to be going into getting a chaotic rapier (or longsword), and this Rigour prayer... would like that for range slaying :P New floors will be interesting. Looking forward to the new bosses and challenge rooms, for sure. I love questing, so any quest is a good thing for me. Void Knights quest, even better, since I'm quite intrigued with their storyline. This turn based Pest Control... minigame/activity/whatever thing looks interesting. Wonder if it'll remind me of the few times I played Fire Emblem... something to try, at the very least. Treasure trails update I was looking forward to already, but I wasn't bothered by it not being released on time, since I had plenty of other stuff to focus on. When it does get released, though, it'll be interesting to see how many creatures are going to be crowded with people looking for clue scrolls of all levels :P (I'm assuming some of the rewards are obtained from levels 1, 2, and 3 as well as the elite clues) Bank space, of course, is always good. Even moreso if you happen to be a damn pack rat and keep everything, like me >.<

Future Update Discussions
To be perfectly honest, that Celtic puzzle looks fun. Call me a masochist or whatever, but I enjoy puzzles. Not even that Elemental Workshop one bothered me. That much. *cough* It took a while, but I wasn't tearing my hair out over it :P I have a level 3 clue banked now, actually. Should at least do it up to the last few steps, then finish on the release day of the clue scroll update. Then off to Bork, Skeletal Horror, and whatever else might drop these elite clues that isn't a boss critter, since I can't do boss hunting on dialup. Hopefully iron/steel/mithril dragons.

Tip.It Times - 1st August 2010
Personally, I found both articles to be good reads, and I do tend to follow the second article's slaying habits standards to some degree - I'm the sort that would rather just leave the spot quietly if too many people are there, or someone shows up with a cannon - unless you insult me or taunt me in some way. I may be a decent enough guy, but if you piss me off, be prepared to fight for your precious spot, because I'll pull out all the stops to make your life miserable in that particular case. Yes, I can be an ass and spiteful. Surprised? :P Anyway, I'll try to not comment too much on Racheya's article, considering the... discussion that's going on right now, but I wanted to add my two cents in anyway. I had no problem with the article until the last few paragraphs: "So really, the rage and upset over this is just rather stupid if you ask me." (and no, I don't know how to quote properly, but this will do) Before I continue, I'd like to say I agree with her view - I think the whining is a bit... excessive and irritating. But I still don't like the fact that she puts their views down so harshly. I wouldn't have been as harsh in saying it, even if I did agree with what she said. I'd also like to state that I reread the Quest Phobia article, and there was nothing as... blunt or harsh in that article saying quests were stupid. Do I think it's worthy of being an article? Yes, but I wouldn't have been so harsh in what I was saying. Just flat out saying "such and such is stupid" is just asking for flames and such, honestly. I do hope I didn't make this... discussion even more flamey with my words >.>

summoning. How combat related is it really?
Since I only have 92 summoning, I only have access to the wolpertinger and geyser titan for combat familiars. However, they're still more than powerful enough to help me do my slayer. Geyser maxes at 220, wolper maxes at 230. I tend to use geyser titan though, since I need ranged xp a lot more than magic xp. As for how annoying it is to get it to attack... well, if you wait for it to attack on it's own, it's just going to do a lot of standing there, twiddling it's thumbs, since I tear through most slayer creatures too quickly for it to auto attack. Setting the left click option next to the minimap to attack, and hitting that then clicking on a creature and rapidly reclicking back onto what I was attacking originally makes it attack fairly quickly, though. Depending on the creature, I might have it attack the same creature I am, or if it's a weaker creature, I'll have it attack a different one so I don't have to tell it to attack repeatedly very quickly. I will admit, however, it's annoying trying to use a larger combat familiar in smaller spaces, since they have a tendency to 'dance' around whatever they're trying to attack, and end up just doing that while I do all the work, since they can't get into position to attack. I can see iron/steel titans being a nuisance to use in combat if you're spamming the special attack, though. Was irritating enough trying to kill Nomad using a kyatt and those scrolls >.< Of course, you could just use your slayer helm to store 100 scrolls in it and go that way, but it probably doesn't last too long :P

Where's the Excitement?
For me, it kinda depends on the creature I'm fighting. Spirit mages, you can more or less expect at least one pair of d boots every task/other task, so seeing those is just... "oh look, 500k" sort of thing for me. Abby demons, I still grin whenever I get a whip (and to a lesser extent, fero rings, since I enjoy collecting and tallying those). Cave horrors, I've gotten several masks from, but if I got the urge to go camp them for a bit, I'd probably smile once I got one - after all, if you're expecting a drop, it doesn't really matter what it is, it still doesn't have that big of an effect on you. Black/metal dragons and visages/dragon platelegs/skirt - obviously visage will still make me freak out, although the chances of me getting another one is impossibly slim. I just smirk when I see dragon plateskirt, though - same sort of deal with d med and spear. Platelegs I'm happy to get, since they're more valuable and I do smile seeing those. Barrows, since I've gotten one of every armor piece, and still no weapons except maybe ahrim staff or something, plus I don't go barrows that often, would entice a smile from me and maybe a little cheer, regardless of the value of the item in question. In this case, it's the thrill of a rare item, not the value of said item, that makes me happy. Yeah, I'd have to say that my excitement level has gone down with multiple slayer drops and a buildup of my bank worth, but I still get excited when I get a rare item. I will admit, however, my remark upon getting my first focus sight after god knows how many tasks was to the effect of: it's about bloody time! (considering I've been going near 1:1 ratio for jungle wyrm task:hexcrest) Same deal with effigies, I would cheer if I ever get my second one.

is dungeoneering really a difficult 99?
Honestly, I have zero clue about my own xp rate. I know I'm capable of completing medium maps in about... 45-50 minutes, but I'm taking my time, fishing stuff, making armor, etc. If I took that out, it'd be a lot faster. And I may be on dialup, but it tends to be fairly reliable - in the past few months, it's been dc'ing me and forcing me to restart the computer after the internet's been on for 4 hours or more (sometimes it lasts upwards of 10 hours if I actually have time to be on that long without having to attend to something else). I generally avoided dc'ing from a dungeon before the solo dungeon fix by restarting my comp first, then dungeoning for a bit :P Now though, even if I do dc, I can restart and get back on before my dungeon expires. Honestly, I should probably try to push myself and see how my xp/hr rates stack up with other people. I know I won't be as fast due to my connection, but I'm still somewhat curious. And Echo, if you ever wanna dungeon, just send me a pm, alright? If I'm on, I'll probably willingly dungeon :P Nowadays though, when I dungeon, I usually duo with my skiller friend or I just go solo, as before. Don't really care if having a skiller friend duo with me damages my xp/hr rate, all that matters to me is having fun.
-
is dungeoneering really a difficult 99?
Honestly, I started dungeoning before I even looked at the reward list. I kept at it because I thoroughly enjoyed it. So yeah, 99 dungeoneering would be an easy 99 for me. Would it take a fairly long time? Yeah, but it'd be quite enjoyable for me, even though I mostly solo. More than likely, my skill levels make it far more enjoyable. I can see myself nearly pulling my hair out in frustration if I kept hitting skill doors I couldn't unlock due to lower skills... the few I get now already irritate me, lol. The only thing that annoys me with dungeoning is the... I dunno, lack of variety in bosses? We have a fair number already, sure. But I don't really enjoy getting the same boss 2-3 times in a row. And then there's Stomp... *shudders* Very minor complaint, though. I really do enjoy the fact they make you think more about combat in here, though. If you stick to one combat style, you're more or less screwed. Myself going melee and carrying runes to blast apart warriors and the like usually works, though. Not to mention the fact the ai of the critters is somewhat intelligent enough to work around your attempts to safespot, though - either by moonwalking backwards to make you run out, or by going unaggro, and wandering around whatever you're using to safespot and then attacking again. It makes you a bit more alert, to say the least. I am, however, looking forward to getting a chaotic weapon - rapier or longsword, still haven't decided. I don't/can't boss hunt on dialup, so my only real concern is slayer, so... regardless, that's where my tokens are probably going.

Why do people wear skillcapes?
Basically, I wore my skillcape when that was all I had. I tend to go the efficient route, so when I got my sw cape, all my skill capes went onto my cape rack in my poh. I wore my fletching cape since it was the first 99 I had ever gotten. I was damned proud of that cape. Once I got 99 cooking, I wore that cape instead, upon realizing that the trimmed fletching cape, in my opinion, was ugly as hell >.> By the time I got 99 crafting, I think I either already had the sw cape, or got it soon after crafting, so I didn't have much of a chance to wear it around that much either way. Quest cape was nice to look at, but was pointless to wear once I had trimmed skillcapes, since the stats of trimmed skillcapes are slightly higher. Due to my dialup internet, I'm unable to get a firecape, plus I think it's ugly anyway. Again, my opinion. I wear my capes when I feel the need to dress up, which doesn't come up that often, really. Red sw cape for all combat stuff. When I'm skilling, I might get an outfit together and wear my crafting cape or something, but otherwise, spottier cape and boots of lightness. Nowadays, I don't wear much of anything, too busy dungeoning :P And since I'm flat out efficient/stingy (and not that rich) rares aren't that important to me. I can understand the want to wear and show it off, but I won't buy something for the intent of lending it out occasionally, or making money off of it. If I buy something, it has to be something I can get a use out of constantly. I only bought bcp/tassets, for instance, because it was crashing and I knew it would be somewhat useful for slaying. If I have cash, and don't need any gear, then it'll likely go into skilling. If I stopped putting cash into skills and sold off some of my gear, yeah, maybe I could buy a rare. But honestly, I don't want to. I'm not really the type to want to show off my wealth. I'd rather put it to direct use via better gear and higher skills. That's my opinion, anyway. (and yes, my first two 99s were the so-called 'noob' capes. I got cooking for that specific reason, just to see if people would react. Plus, I honestly enjoyed fletching and cooking as a skill. Somehow...)

Stomp
There's no way to remove the debris from in front of the lodestones once it's landed, although if you stand under it, and let it fall on you, you take damage but the debris won't block off that lodestone. I suppose you could set a gatestone in front of one lodestone, and stand in front of the other one to fight Stomp, if you want. Once he starts bringing down the debris, watch and see if it'll land in front of either lodestone, and either stand there/tele to the other lodestone to take the hit. Keep your lp high, though - I think I take 240 damage from the rock, but it's been a while since I've soloed him myself. There's no way to stop him from blockading you into one corner or surrounding a crystal with debris though, unless you watch the shadows and avoid it yourself. Easy way for Jagex to fix this? Make it so we can mine out the debris with a pickaxe or something. But, I somehow doubt they'll do that. Even with his healing, he's still fairly simple for me to take down. I do have a high combat level, however. Too long, didn't read - stand in front of one lodestone, gatestone in front of the other. When the shadows appear, move accordingly to take the hit and avoid the debris blocking the lodestone. Him blockading you, or blocking off the crystals from your reach is mostly unavoidable, though - unless you move fast enough and grab them/move out of the way before the debris falls.

Life, and RuneScape.
Again, grats on everything you achieved on rs, Serp - particularly that total level. Always feels nice to hit a 00 total, doesn't it? :P Doubt I beat you in terms of valuable items from barrows, although we're probably fairly close to being even... *grumbles* I still haven't gotten a barrows weapon from barrows... Although, I feel sad that you had such a bad day irl *hugs* hope things start looking up for you soon, mate.

Dung Weapons
To Zaaps, I personally found that I encountered resources that were at my level or 1/2 tiers above - I rarely see cave moray/blue crabs, but I encounter salve eel/bouldabass/web snipper constantly. Same deal with ores - I encounter mostly katagon and gorgonite now, and very, very rarely promethium rocks. I find that grave creeper trees, the tier 10 tree, is the most common tier 10 resource I personally find - spiritbloom, promethium ore and... I'm assuming cave morays are tier 10 fish (?) are a fair bit rarer. The theory that having the processing skill as well as the resource gathering skill it's connected to affects resource generation seems logical to me as well. I have higher processing skills than resource gathering in most/all cases, so I almost always see the highest tier stuff I can use, and rarely stuff one tier or two above like I said before - for mining/smithing, for instance, I always see katagon and gorgonite, but not too often do I see anything of lower quality, like zephyrium. Most plants I see to harvest fibres from seem to be runeleaf as well, and corpsethorn/entgallow trees are also common for me. To the topic creator, I personally only see at max katagon weapons/armor for melee, ecto robes for mage, and range I'm not terribly sure about, but I'm assuming it's around the same tier stuff as melee/magic. I suppose, with soloing at least, your best bet would be to wait till you start encountering the higher level forgotten warriors (gorgonite warriors are 95 ish combat, promethium are 110, I believe) and hope one drops it's weapon. The further I go down, the more often I see the highest level varieties of shades, warriors, mages, and rangers, so hopefully you'll run into a warrior. Would be far faster to just get a friend or someone else to help you mine and smith a weapon, though.
-
best weapon for dung,
I've had a promethium spear (p++) bound for... well, quite a while now. I'll be sticking with it until someone else with more resources can actually test out the weapon types and possibly prove something else to be more viable. Since the spear has crush, slash and stab styles on it, you can exploit the melee weaknesses in everything fairly easily, plus it can be poisoned. The poison, in my opinion, doesn't help terribly much, though - things that can be poisoned usually die before the poison actually starts doing damage. Bosses in general seem immune to poison for the most part as well.
-
Bosses got harder
I tend to melee almost every single boss, and I usually don't die - so long as I go in with a full invy of good food (salve eels and higher), and any potions I can make beforehand (strong melee and defence potions, usually). Only time I pull out a bow and use my gorg arrows is for Astea. General strategy for me is to go in praying deflect magic and leech defence - considering I'm wearing melee armor, this usually covers me fairly well. Only bosses I've died on so far (in solo attempts) are the Skeletal Horde and... oh yeah, Night Gazer or whatever it's called - the eyeball with the stomp attack, anyway. I didn't know what I was doing then, though - took me a while to notice the burners in the corners... >.< I've had some close calls with bosses, though - running out of food and killing them with about 200 lp left happens on occasion, although that mostly happens due to extremely stingy fishing spots and monster drops. I will admit, though.. the bosses seem to be getting harder and harder, even on solo attempts. Which is a good thing for me, I enjoy a challenge, although not an overpoweringly impossible one, like I seem to encounter every time I try teaming up with anyone - deaths are really, really common for me in teams of trio or higher, probably attributed towards how slow I move sometimes. As for exploiting melee weaknesses, I usually don't remember them offhand, so I just hit with each style a few times at the start, see which one hits more, and go with that.

The first article, well... I've never been all too knowledgeable as to how the economy works (due to sheer laziness, mind you), so... It was an interesting read, and fairly well written, though. The second article, while there are some problems with how the writer put some things, it does raise a few points that Jagex will (hopefully) address sometime soon... The sheer number of bugs in the skill so far - I'm sure a good number of us have encountered at least one of these, plus hearing about this... runecrafting bug that gave what, 10k xp per ess used? Even I'll admit that's a massive oversight on Jagex's part. I personally have encountered some type of key glitch where the last door and the only key left don't match, and very rarely I've encountered the 'examine nothing' glitch. Overall, I personally haven't seen that many within the dungeon itself, but I have been black/whitescreening quite a bit since the release. We have to think, though - dungeoneering is a very large and complex skill, so there's bound to be glitches and the like on release - saying nothing about Jagex's incompetence at times. I personally am not bothered by the comparisons to WOW and other games with 'raiding' functions, mainly because I've never played them before... I can see the lines being drawn between them, though. The 'level 120 = true skill mastery' thing somewhat bothers me in the fact that we stop getting... well, new floors to unlock at level 69 - meaning at that level our xp rate/hour probably, if I'm correct anyway, won't go up any further from that point forward. That's my concern, anyway - that the xp rate that we get at level 69 is supposed to carry us all the way to level 120 - I'm betting on Jagex releasing more floors with the next Dungeoneering batch, though. The reward system, so far as I'm concerned, is completely broken. There is zero point in putting these level requirements on the items if it takes that + 40 more levelups just to get the points to buy the damn thing. Either they're going to lower the token req for most of the items (probably leaving the really powerful stuff with higher token reqs), or they're going to toss the system altogether, and allow us to get them in some other fashion - boss drops or something. Personally, I believe if they keep the system, make it so we can buy the object in question within 5/10 levels after unlocking it - that seems fairly balanced to me. The addition of resuming solo dungeons would be a godsend to me, since I play mostly solo games to begin with. Plus, I have a tendency of dropping connection sometimes, although it hasn't booted me out of the dungeon yet. These skill doors annoy the hell out of me, to be perfectly honest with you. The ones I can get through don't bother me, obviously, but the ones that need 100+ really aggravate me - it wouldn't bother me so much if I actually had time to find the herbs to make a potion to boost over the req and open the door, but almost every time, the herb either cannot be found on the floor, or the boost I need is far larger than any potion I can make. I've missed out on half the rooms on one floor because of one of these doors already... either make it so that the herbs are a more common drop (which still won't help the people with low herblore), or make the appearance of the doors with your skill level + 20 lower dramatically - I don't mind having to work a little and make a potion to open a door, but at least give me that chance, instead of screwing me over from the start. It seems like the defence of every single creature in the dungeon is, well... ridiculously high. I understand that everything in there has a specific weakness, but even using a promethium spear with 95 attack, switching and trying all styles, it still doesn't quite cut it for a lot of things - I've encountered creatures that, considering what it is, and the amount of lp it should have, should only take me 10-20 seconds to kill, but it takes me twice that, since I constantly hit zeros, even if I keep switching styles until I find the (semi) correct one. Either this is perfectly normal, or I really suck at hitting things. The accuracy of some creatures is also a bit... overly powerful. The shades that we encounter mostly in the ice floors, and a little bit later on are notoriously difficult to kill, just because they hit every single time. Praying magic cuts the damage down considerably, but it's still very powerful in comparison to other creatures you encounter on those floors. Again, either this is normal, or my defence sucks. The items one gets from bosses on solo runs seem a lot on the... cheap side, if you ask me. I'm constantly getting tier 5 ish items, and rarely something higher - I've gotten maybe 1-2 promethium items, that's it. Hell, the last floor I cleared (floor... 16/17 or so), I got a novite full helm. I snickered a bit at that, but when it comes time for me to bind a second item, I don't know if I'll even encounter something I want to keep on a solo run. Too long, didn't read - I personally love the Dungeoneering skill, although it has a ton of flaws in it right now. I believe that Jagex will attempt to fix the problems with it as it stands now, and release a second batch (hopefully including more floors to explore) that will hopefully make it more appealing to those who dislike it right now.
