  1. Has anyone got it in the actual smithing of cannonballs? (I'm smithing from steel bars instead of doing coal + iron first).
  2. This sounds like a half assed attempt to introduce a money sink because people have been complaining that the new skill is not. Also sounds like an attempt to cash in on WoW's battleground weekends with increased rewards (I'm sure other MMOs beside WoW does it but I'm only familiar with WoW).
  3. Aberrant spectres for me...1 task, 3 clues. Every task I get at least 1 clue, plus lots of heb drops with macaw.
  4. The irony is delicious...since Jagex already made fire capes to be a requirement, then everyone should STFU as you so eloquently put it. I mean if the creators of the game IMPLEMENTED it in the game, then it should stick. I agree if they had not already implemented it then it would have been weird to mix minigames in with slayer. Why would 93 slayer be required for fire cape...like you said, Jad has been out for years, why change it now since many without 93 have already gotten their fire capes? And like many have pointed out, neither fire cape nor strykewyrms are A REQUIREMENT for slayer...you can get 99 slay without it, as thousands of others have done. And by 93 you should have plenty of points to block/skip tasks so your streak would not be affected.
  5. ^ LOL on the last line I understand the situtation better reading the responses here (rather than the Anacin-inducing arguments of the RSOF). I don't always think about things like medical conditions on games where I just assume everyone is on a level playing field (we all started with the same 25 gp after all). The compromise shows that they're not gonna forget you, so that's something at least. And yeah, it's not often you'll find a game that doesn't try to vastly improve with each iteration...that's what keeps the graphic card industry in business!
  6. Hah, beat me to it. I was thinking the exact same thing while playing Modern Warfare 2 the other day. The fact is that Jagex has been perpetuating EZ mode for far too long...everything is afkable or at least not that difficult (for instance, no split second reactions akin to first person shooters). So when the game deviates from the norm, people freak out over having to do something they are not used to. I taught my Dad to play Army of 2 40th Day and he loved it because I guess older people don't step into that world. Guess what, he loved it and didn't suck (after a while). So for older gamers who are afraid of "twitch" gaming: age ain't nothing but a number!! Get one of us young 'uns to show you how it's done. You might discover you enjoy sniping from cover or setting people on fire! Edited to fix grammar :D
  7. That's my issue as well. Jagex has been reversing all its decisions as of late in the face of--now don't take offense--whining from the forums. The people who are happy with updates don't go on the boards en masse and tell them how great it is, so they only see the negative. I don't have 93 slay yet, but I am working towards it and I did go and get a fire cape for this reason. So yes, I am biased, just as people who don't have fast computers/connections are biased towards that end. Also, people have to face the fact that as gaming technology moves forward, they have to move forward as well. They can't expect Jagex to confine themselves technologically when other game companies set higher system requirements to produce better looking games. They can't. They will lose money. So future updates will have the same issue re: connectivity, lag, etc...and I don't know how Jagex will deal with this in the future.
  8. Maybe if I whine long enough I can get the level 93 requirement nerfed too <_< After all I have to work and go to school and can't put in the time to get 93 slay.... I guess one positive (for most people) is that Staff of Light will become affordable. It'll be the new Dark Bow. I was expecting Fire Cape owners to get more benefits though. Something along the lines of "burn damage" for people without Fire Capes so they would have to bank more. It's not extreme but it would make Fire Capes worth attaining for the task.
  9. Quoted for so much truth. It's not rude, it's the honest truth. I wanna be in the NBA. But i'm not 6'4" and not a 20 year old kid. And I can't beat Lebron James one on one. But I practice a lot...I'm a level 93 basketball player! So how come I don't make millions? Heck, let's make it so no one can make millions for dribbling a ball since I can't. THIS is what their logic sounds like to me. To be honest I see the same few people on the forums proclaiming "equal rights for older gamers" (which is basically what their arguemnt boils down to). Yet I know many 30+ gamers who have no problems with Jad, or God Wars, or whatever "old brains can't handle". Heck, I'm not exactly 16 myself, but I can still prayer switch and play Team Fortress 2/Call of Duty etc etc. Have they ever looked at themselves and just said: hey, maybe I just need to practice more, or watch a couple of Youtube vids., before trying to spoil an awesome update for evrybody else. UGH. RSOF hurts my head. Its made me all ranty.
  10. I've tried every godsword, nothing beats SGS. I am currently going for Slayer Cape and SGS + Bunyip makes slaying so efficient. When you're not using it just lend it out for extra cash or to burn off junk. I sold it (for more than I bought) and I had to buy it back just because I hated having to restock during a task :)
  11. Go to Account > Account Management > Change Display Name or just here You can change it back in a month if you don't like it. EDIT: A player's display name is the name see by other players. This is the name that appears on the Friends and Ignore lists, on the in-game chat and on the website (such as the Forums and Hiscores. On October 1, Jagex released an update allowing members of RuneScape or FunOrb to change their display name. The player's username (which is used to log into the game or website) remains the same. A player who chooses to change their name will have it reserved for at least 35 days. Once a player changes their name, they cannot change it for 28 days. The name will be reserved during this time. Once this time is up, the name will be reserved for at least 7 more days (the longer the player had the name, the longer it is reserved). When a player changes their display name, an icon will appear next to their name on the Friends and Ignore lists. When hovering the cursor over this icon, a player can see the previous names of people on their Friends or Ignore Lists. There is no such feature for the Clan Chat or any website features.
  12. The original Diablo! My first multiplayer online experience...despite the rampant cheating you could still find legit co-opers and you would spend the night clearing hell with them :D (Psst! Over here!)
  13. What the heck happened to grenwall spikes?! It was just at 700-ish...check GE :o Now at Market price: 4,669 (I'm asking here because it doesn't seem natural ...smells liek Jagex )
  14. They should take a page out of Diablo II and introduce gambling for items as a cash sink.
  15. I went with d axe because you can easily make the amount of money to pay for it in the time it takes you to get 92 FM. Plus I hate clicking logs with the passion of a thousand suns.
  16. Can anyone help me with some outfits to go with yellow p hat? Currently am female with trimmed fletch, woodcutting capes and Legends cape. I've just been wearing gilded skirt and Bandos chest, but I'm looking for something a little more unique. Anyone have suggestions/pics? B)
  17. Maybe a big ol' Gadderhammer. It's brown/gold and also fits the Con theme.
  18. Ooh, I like the idea of light and dark, but if it was a simple light switch they could've easily put it as a right click option on the world map icon (clap on clap off!). The idea of a chat bubble makes sense because of it's close proximity to the friends list. I hate the current chat system on RS (no reply option? No /w friendname?) Hope this is the new chat interface for town chats, dungeon chats, guild chats, clan chats...just like a certain game that shall not be named EDIT - Insane theory #312: It's a magnifying glass with stat lookups, calcs, hiscores...since SwiftKit is occasionally illegal
  19. The Bonesack from Rag and Bone Man miniquest
  20. The article was written in '05 - it's a lot better now. Funny thing is, a lot of girls in my program play WoW (graphic design...I guess we care about the graphics :P). And not one of them fits the fat/no-life stereotype. I didn't play till about 2 years ago, but I never had a problem talking on vent. The only person who ever said "t*ts or gtfo" to me in chat was my RL friend....also a girl
  21. If people ask, I do tell them I'm a girl (or if they assume I'm a dude, I just correct em ;)) The problem is when people stereotype you as having no life if, god forbid, you spend an hour on the game (if you're a girl. If you're a boy then apparently spending 14 hrs skilling is proof of your awesome virility). Then I ask them if they are fat, Cheeto eatin' virgin nerds like this fella here: I mean, if you're gonna follow one stereotype, you might as well follow them all. EDIT: LMAO, I read ScarletStar's post afterward...glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way
  22. Don't forget the follow up when they refuse: "It's not yours. lol. narb" ('Narb' happens to be my pet hate )
  23. ^ Exactly, why bother playing a MMO if you're gonna be antisocial. Might as well just play single player on Xbox or something.
  24. Is this "A Tale of Two Cities" reference? It's probably something infinitely cooler but its the only place iIve ever heard the name. :P
  25. Anyone ever get double prizes? Yeah I know, screenshot or it didn't happen:
