I plan to flip my bonds... :? If you can buy and sell bonds with a spread larger than the tax, then there is profit to be made. I think in the long term, bonds will provide a measure of stability to the Runescape economy.
-
I respectfully disagree. Why do some people buy bonds? For the gp! What do they need the gp for? To buy items! If items leave the game, will their prices be affected? Yes, and in turn this will affect the demand for bonds. So logically, if the new skill changes the economic status quo and if people's bond buying habits are dependent on economic conditions, the connection between the new skill (with its item/money sinks) and bond buying exists. I just had a new thought... Do you think Jagex implemented bonds as a means to accelerate the new money/item sinks? Previously, only the rich could blow loads of money on items sinks, but now anyone with IRL cash can do so. In the past, the uber rich were wealthy enough to satisfy their own expensive skilling desires, but once they achieved their goals, the spending stopped. There was no reason for them to pass their riches to the noobier players to be used. However, now the noobs can purchase bonds to trade for gp from the wealthy. Thus now both groups of players can drop large amounts of money and items into these sinks. This opens up the opportunity for many more players to join the skilling races than ever before, since now the lack of gp is no longer a limitation if one has the IRL money for it. In the meantime, Jagex reaps massive profits as the mediator of this exchange. Disclaimer: I used the terms "rich player" and "noob" simply to portray the economic distinction between classes of players. These terms are not meant to be derogatory in any way.

Illegal RWT (as stated in the rules) exists because there is a great demand for it. Bonds alleviate this problem by benefiting three groups of people. 1. Lazy rich people buy bonds from Jagex to benefit themselves (instant gratification, i. e. easy gp). 2. Other (poorer or perhaps "smarter") players buy bonds with gp to benefit themselves (money saved on membership, etc.) 3. Jagex sells bonds at a rate above actual membership price to benefit themselves (increased revenue while potentially decreasing external RWT). So it's a win-win-win! Casualties include: Loss of integrity for the company (change of stance on RWT) Loss of sense of personal achievement (other players can buy an unfair advantage) Temporary instability of the economy (possibly reoccurring as new rich players buy more bonds) If you can stomach the negatives, then this update really isn't that bad. I personally am quite pleased that my future membership may potentially be completely financed by other players who are willing to spend the extra cash. If their greed and impatience pays for my game-play, why should I be against that? In other news: I agree. High end items NEVER leave the game with them. At least make them 5 minutes max, and finally allow degradables to drop to other poeple. Oh, you're at nex and your computer gets hit by lightning? lol bye bye drygores, ascensions, torva, and pernix Looks like that is going to change soon... Does this make bonds better?

I don't really play anymore, but sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me. So I messed around the beta server just to see what kind of rewards a level 3 clue scroll would give. It took a little over an hour but I claimed the rewards from the completed clue 100 times. I didn't have time to really analyze the results, but just from glancing at it I could see some patterns. For example, noted sharks are given in amounts of 12-15 with exceptions being actually two sets of noted sharks combined (one clue reward shows 27 noted sharks which is a set of 13 and a set of 14 combined). I'm not sure of the value of this kind of information, but it might be useful to use/abuse the beta server while it's available to test things that are normally untestable or at least very difficult to research. So yeah... just wanted to share that. :) -
In case you didn't see it in my first post, I won a huge lamp on my crappiest failed f2p account. -.- Is that worth claiming? I feel awful discarding it...
-
I just tried the SoF for all my accounts again and everything seems to be working properly now. I got my 50 GP as promised! (Still a crappy reward but whatever  ) Looks like what ever happened didn't last long.

Hello! I don't play Runescape anymore but once in a while I log on all of my accounts just to spin the Squeal of Fortune, just in case I win something big (not likely but you never know). Anyway I noticed that whenever I won the 50 GP prize, I would only receive 1 GP! Why?!? :XD: Winning 50 GP is bad enough but getting only 1 GP is like a kick in the pants. OK, maybe I'm being overly dramatic, but has anyone else noticed this? Also I could have sworn that I won a small experience lamp in ranging but received one for firemaking instead. However I don't trust my memory so don't take my word as fact on that one. EVIDENCE [hide][/hide] So I'm wondering, is this just a glitch with the rewards screen showing the wrong prize or are actual wrong prizes being handed out? What could make the SoF act like this? Is there a super, super, super, rare chance of me getting a free green partyhat with this bug? I would hate to legitimately win a super rare prize and then receive something else. I submitted a bug report about it and Jagex replied saying that they will look into it. Plus they refunded me 2 SoF spins. :shades: EDIT: Everything appears to be back to normal. Now I receive 50 GP when I win the 50 GP reward. EDIT2: FML!!!! I actually won a super rare prize (huge lamp)!! But it's on a failed level 5 throwaway f2p account! WHY??!?! :wall: FML [hide][/hide]

Hey Spooferfish! Sorry to hear that you lost your stuff. :( If I was still playing RS I'd gladly buy your burnt lobsters and for a nice amount too. But alas, I no longer play (nor do I have any gp left) . . . When I sold my burnt fish collection I got around 30 gp per fish. Most people offer less, but some will pay big bucks for it. This guy on the RSOF is wanting to buy 5k burnt lobsters for 100 gp each. (Quick find code: 41-42-476-63459341). I'd say that the best way to sell your burnt fish is to make a thread on the RSOF asking for offers. You never know, you might get something really nice. Wish you the best! :) ~Numismaster

When free trade returned, all items were separated from each other in the GE and became individually priced (armors from box sets, hilts from godswords, sigils from spirit shields, etc.). -

Hi everyone! I'm not a very frequent poster but I am a daily reader of these forums. I finally decided to quit RS permanently (for various personal reasons) and I've got the photos to prove it! I've "quit" a couple of times before but this time I really wiped my accounts clean. Anyway I just wanted to post some pictures to help me say goodbye. Knowing me, I'll probably log in RS every once in a while and occasionally lurk around these forums to get the latest RS news (maybe even post a comment or two). But eventually I'll disappear for good. Thanks to everyone who helped me throughout my RS career and especially to those who contributed to my burnt fish collection! I had a lot of fun playing RS but now is the time for me to move on to greater things in life . . . (OK honestly, I just don't have time for this game anymore and I can't break the addiction :( ) Anyway, I wish you all the best in your RS adventures! Happy 'Scaping! :) So here be pics: Numismaster's Final Bank Picture (Warning: Large Image) [hide] Yeah, so I'm a bit of a neat freak/collector/eccentric. Can you guess my favorite skill? ;) Nearly every valuable item I had was already sold (and substituted with cheap placeholders) and the money given to my brother (over 100M), with the exception of the Santa hat (which he now has too). RS Pro Challenge: Can you identify all the items in my bank? :shades: P.S. How do I upload large images without having them shrink? All of my other images are normal sized with normal resolution but this one kept getting shrunk by all the image hosting websites. Is there an upper size limit on the images that I upload?[/hide] Numismaster's Current Bank [hide] Interesting note: The coin on the left is a standard gold piece and the one on the right is a dungeoneering gold piece. The dungeoneering one is slightly thinner and shifted a little lower than the regular one (they also have different examines). I acquired the dungeoneering coins from a drop party a long time ago.[/hide] My attempt at doubling items and money (no scamming, I promise) [hide] Am I doing it right? #-o [/hide] My Crafting Pure/F2P Merchant/Hobo [hide] Fear my leet skills! 8-) [/hide] Sir Popalot as a Princess [hide] My dream was to buy a green partyhat someday . . . but all I ever reached was a Santa hat. Not bad for a level 3 f2p solo merchant with no skills trained. Note: The crafting levels came late in my RS career after I had already earned my money and bought my Santa hat.[/hide] Where my burnt fish collection went [hide] I sold my collection of over 70k burnt fish to "Bone Queen". The image shows her collection, which is split between two accounts.[/hide] Old picture of my first attempt at killings revs (5/8/2011) [hide] This was my first trip ever hunting revs. In one hour my friend and I got 4 pvp drops totaling around 12M (including the ancient statuette). The statuette was the most expensive drop that I had ever received from a monster. :-D [/hide] Random Rich Noob at the GE Today [hide] Some people just have too much money . . . :-( [/hide] Well, that's all the RS pictures that I have left on my computer (and these will be gone soon too). Farewell Runescape and Tip.it . . . :boohoo: ~Numismaster -
Dear Tip.it Community,
Thanks for the great site! I had a lot of fun reading to forums and I appreciate all of the people who have helped me during my RS career. Sadly my time in RS has come to an end, but I wish you all the best!

Turtorial for New Accounts

[hide] This. I still have a level 3 account standing somewhere on the island. :D Me too. :D Wow, I just tried logging in on my tut island account and got redirected to the new tutorial. I'm mad bro :< I believe in the patch notes a few weeks ago, they mentioned that anyone still on tutorial island was relocated. I tried logging into at least one of my tut island accounts, and it went to the new tut (if I got it right), but I have a list of accounts which had tut island access I'll have to check I guess. Has anyone logged into the tut island in the last few weeks? I logged in on my tut island acc three days ago. It was relocated to the new tutorial! Man, I was so mad I wanted to punch my monitor!! I've been playing that account for a long time trying to make it the richest tut island account there is. I had a goal of getting at least 1 million bronze arrows and several thousand of every other item available (don't ask me why, I just found the challenge amusing). I just reached 250k arrows the last time I played and now it's all gone! :wall: Darn you Jagex for ruining my pointless pursuits. -.- [/hide]You better have pics!!! Regrettably, I did not take any pictures recently because I was not expecting my account to disappear. I may have an old one or two that I will search for. I was definitely planning on taking a picture when I reached my goal but that's not going to happen now . . . ;( EDIT: Here is an old post I made on the forums 6 months ago. -

Who's selling crackers???!@?!@? :wall:

I have no reservations about looting another player's grave since it was their responsibility to stay alive (I'm thinking mainly of bots dying). However, I do consider myself a fairly generous person so if there is even the slightest reason to repair a grave or return someone's stuff (they were nice to me, respectful of my training spot, or even if they pm me about it) then I will do it. If there is no response, I'm not going to go out of my way to look for the person who died nor will I leave the items on the ground to disappear or be picked up by other scavengers. In my rs career, I have had two major losses from unfortunate deaths. (Read more here v v ) [hide] Death #1: Stupid Quest Death I saved up my geepees to buy arma helm/chainbody/chainskirt, ranger boots, fury, archer ring, 3A vambs, and a DFS (which I wasn't quite able to wield yet). Approximate GE value for my outfit at the time was over 113M (not bad for a level 78 noob). Since I was almost 75 defence, I ran around with the DFS in my inventory in anticipation of using it. One day (in March 2010) I had about 10 minutes of free time before leaving for an appointment, so I foolishly decided to start the "Icthlarin's Little Helper" quest. I really suck at doing quests, so naturally I brought no food or antipoisons when I entered the cat pyramid (but I did manage to bring my entire bank with me, including all of my cash). Within moments I was severely injured, poisoned, and running around in circles in complete panic until a floor trap+poison hit killed me off. Upon death my cat ran off, making it basically impossible to get back in time. Rather than appearing outside of the pyramid (as I think they do now) my stuff stayed in the pyramid. So I sent my brother to repair/bless my grave but he couldn't because the game would not allow him to repair/bless graves in a quest area (darn you Jagex!!!). Loss from death: 52M (GF 6+ months of casual skilling) :wall: Death #2: Stupid Dragon Death 9 months have elapsed since my first major death and I have recovered nearly all of my losses. This time I purchase full 3A range (top/bottom/coif/vambs), ranger boots, fury, and an archer ring. I hold off from buying a DFS since I would rather use the 24M cash to run crystal keys (my major source of income at the time). Approximate value of bank was over 150M (at 82 combat). I've never had such 'fabulous' armor before and in my excitement from buying it, I ran to the green dragons in the wilderness to test it out (with 24M cash on me). The test: kill a green dragon with no food and using just a sling. Good news: I killed it! Bad news: It's neighbor killed me. #-o No worries right? Games necklace easily gets me there in time to loot my grave. That's when I realize I took my only one with me to get there the first time. Tele to Varrock to buy a games necklace in the GE and run like mad to the grave? Nope, sold all of my runes the day before. So I call my bro to bless my grave and save my stuff, but getting him out of a Soul Wars match just took too long (I did get to see my grave disappear on his computer screen). And although there were lots of players at the green dragons, not one of them bothered to repair or bless my grave (because they were all bots methinks). I'm pretty sure they were bots since none of them even noticed that a guy in full 3A range just died next to them (no comments or anything). Loss from death: 59M (GF several months of intensive crystal key running) :wall: Total loss from two stupid deaths: 111M Moral of the story: I'm an idiot  (deal with it). [/hide] Perhaps I deserved to lose my stuff for risking it so foolishly, but I never expected my grave to be repaired/blessed by a stranger (I did ask my brother to help me out, but that's what bros are for right?). Yes, it would have been nice if someone had saved my things for me but ultimately it was my responsibility, not theirs, to protect my stuff. Plus there is a certain thrill of randomly finding somebody's stuff on the ground and taking it for free . . . 8-)

Both of those videos are fake. I've spent a lot of time watching bank videos and analyzing bank pictures (it's something that interests me) and after a while you can start figuring out the real ones from the fake ones. A couple of points for each one. Video #1: To begin Fairy Yui shows her skills tab. All combat 99's with 96 summoning (clearly someone who likes combat) but only 94 herblore. If you look in her bank, she has been making a few overloads (18 to be exact) but doing this by using stews. Why use stews when you are rich enough to easily train to level to 96 or 99? That is no argument that it's fake lol Next she shows us her skill cape tab. 708 prayer hoods????? Why would you spend 70.8 million on prayer hoods??? She has ~20 pk videos, with prayer capes on in most of them. Do your research. And finally the actual bank. At today's prices (1/4/11), the bank is worth over 342.7 BILLION with nearly 325.3 BILLION in rares alone. The distribution of valuable items to normal items is a dead give away. Normal items are seen in normal quantities (almost "poor-like") while the 35 valuable items (rares, armors, weapons) are represented in ridiculous amounts. Usually real rich people have their wealth scattered throughout their bank in useful items/rares/merchanting junk/etc. Yes, USUALLY, that doesn't mean everyone. Just because she's abnormal in her distribution of wealth, doesn't mean it's fake. If Fairy Yui really has 6 crackers, then why use the golden cracker as the tab item for the rares tab? Why not? Not an argument that it's fake either. Why does she never show the cash pile tab (if she is trying to show off wealth in the video)? Might have forgotten it - it's still not a good enough argument. Why does she just right click on the max cash pile in her inventory but never chooses to examine it? Is there like a set of rules every person who makes a bank video has to follow? Most rich people like showing that their cash pile doesn't fit in their bank by banking and withdrawing what they can. Again, MOST people, not everyone. [/hide] I actually agree with you for once. Terrible arguments throughout Lol I think I might have to agree as well. :XD: It didn't sound that good to me either but I posted it anyway (that's what happens when you try to formulate an argument at 3 a.m. ). Anyway I still believe that the video is not real. Maybe I am wrong. Since I don't have any concrete evidence or proof to disproved it I won't press the issue. But after seeing how easy it is to fake these videos, I take all such claims to extreme wealth with a grain of salt. And this clip just sends up red flags all over the place for me (the logic throughout it seems all wrong, although this is just my personal feelings about it). On topic: Will the lower rares ever recover to their pre-poll value? I purchased a Santa hat on my nub account for 108M right before the panic. I don't need the money and probably won't play that account for a while anyway. Is it reasonable to believe that the Santa hat will return to the 100M range by next summer/year, if ever?

There are various mistakes on the pictures that show that they are fake. However as these mistakes are pointed out he edits/repairs his pictures to make them look more real. The latest version has a stamp of his name at the bottom of the bank interface. I had an older version with more mistakes in it but I recently deleted it while cleaning up my computer. But the newest pictures still have errors in them which I can show. The main mistake is in the alignment of the 2's in the bank (this error was discovered by another Tip.er, not myself). Here is a picture showing the discrepancy. There is also a missing pixel but I am keeping that secret for now so that it can't be fixed ;) An earlier (but fixed mistake) was an extra space beween the 1 and 2 of the green phat.[/hide] Real rich players tend to have more "normal" looking banks (banks with items that make sense).

So I decided to go through an old collection of drop party pictures that I had and compile a collage of dropped rares. These are all rares that I've personally seen dropped in the party room chest in the past 3 years (might have missed a few screenies). I started taking pictures of drop parties after I got my first rare from a drop party, a Santa hat. :shades: How many can you find? And happy "100 posts" to me!
