  1. To me this sounds more corp-like than a GWD boss.
  2. WOOT!!! My tutorial island account still exists! <3 <3 <3  Lol perhaps I'm a little bit crazy but I put quite a bit of work into that account and I'm glad to see that it is still there. I'm probably the only millionaire left on tutorial island. :shades:
  3. We should get a whole bunch of people and have a party on Tutorial Island some day. :P Do you still arrive on tutorial island or you just skim through it? You still arrive where you logged out. Wait a second . . . If you left an account in Tutorial Island, it's still there? Jagex won't reset it or move it to Lumby or something? Can you still play on Tutorial Island? I have an account on Tutorial Island, but since Jagex removed that feature of the game I've never logged back in for fear that the account will get teleported away off the island (where I thought the account would currently be I'm not sure, in some sort of limbo?). I kept the account there because I wanted to have the richest bank on Tutorial Island (net worth already over a million before it was removed). So is there a chance the I could continue this pointless pursuit? Oh and btw I have about a half dozen 1 mining 1 wcing accs (actually just pure blank accs with all stats at 1 except hp) so I don't think that these are so rare.
  4. I'm not that familiar with the way Runetracker works but could this be the problem? [hide][/hide] The player's Adventurer's Log and Highscores page do not match. One shows stats being reset and the other does not. Interestingly the player's rank is preserved although the experience points and level are lowered. With regard to level resetting in general: To be honest I'm confused. We know that Jagex is resetting exp on botted accounts, yet Jagex continues to claims that this is the result of a bug. Could perhaps the software used in detecting bot activity (and the corresponding level resetting) is bugged in itself? For example, for the player mentioned above, exp was rolled back in every skill, even skills that remained at level 99. What is the point of that? Also I find it difficult to believe that this player used a bot for every skill (25 different bots?). Is there even a bot for dungeoneering (a skill that was nearly completely reset)? How can Jagex determine if certain exp was gained while botting (assuming that the reset exp was botted exp)? If the above mentioned player really did bot all those skills (and as extensively as some of the level resets would suggest), why would he bot the way that he did (350k cooking exp out of 5.5 mil, 600k range exp out of 16.5 mil, 450k fletching exp out of 14.8 mil, etc.)? Something is definitely wrong here. The more that I learn about these level resets, the more unsure I become of their nature. The bottom line is this . . . If this really is Jagex's new way of fighting against botting, then I guess I'm for it  (although I'd prefer something a little harsher). If this really is a bug, what exactly is happening? Are people really losing exp (innocent people that is)? If random people (botters and non-botters alike) are having their exp reset, then why? Is it permanent? Are our accounts in danger? :ohnoes:
  5. I met a guy today who had nearly every level reset.
  6. So Zezima decided to drop by and visit us lowly noobs at the GE in w103 whereby we immediately swarmed around him, barraging him with spam and ridiculous questions. He seemed pretty cool about the whole situation, occasionally replying with a witty remark or two. Since I found some of the responses to be quite funny, I started documenting Zezima's conversations. Below is a bunch of quotes from Zezima in the order in which he spoke. Some of the chat screenshots are a little repetative or not very funny; however, seeing as it is past 3 a.m. I do not feel very inclined to further refine the image. At the bottom is a pic of Zezima himself. I hope that I am not breaching Zezima's privacy by posting these quotes. Due to his fame, I see him as a public figure speaking in a public chat and thus to be treated like any other celebrity. If this is deemed not appropriate, I can remove the image. Enjoy! Warning: Very Long Picture [hide][/hide]
  7. To avoid getting this thread off track anymore than it already is, I'll post a pic of Zezima's quotes on the screenshots thread. OT: Should a player someday max out all skills, what would be left to do? Would RS be worth playing anymore? Which feeling do you think would win out, that positive sense of accomplishment or the depressing realization that the game is over?
  8. Ever wonder what a former top player thinks of current top players? Zezima made a surprise visit today at the GE in w103. Screenied a bunch of funny quotes from him. Might uploaded them later if anyone is interested. I wonder if he reads this thread . . .
  9. Soo . . . I saw the green h'ween mask go up a few days ago and I decided to buy a blue mask (had to pay 2 mil above mid >.<). Are masks coming out out of their current dip already? Also, any predictions on santa hats increasing in response to the upcoming holidays? And does anyone here know the value of rares in RSC?
  10. Jagex don't reply to bug reports. I've sent many bug reports in and a few even got fixed with the next update, most got fixed at a later time. This doesn't really add much to the discussion but I felt compelled to relate my experience. About half a year ago, an update came out with a bug where cows lost their death animation. I sent a bug report. About a day or two later I got a nice short letter from Jagex thanking me for finding the bug and that they were going to fix it. Next week, it was fixed. This has never happened before nor since for any other bug reports that I have sent. I thought it was kind of cool so I chose not to delete the message. So I logged in just now to take a screenshot of it for you guys only to discover that the message center only saves messages received in the last 3 months. :wall: So, yeah . . . no pic for you  Sorry about that. I guess I have no proof anymore :( However I did notice that on the bug report, Jagex states that they are not interested in bugs that are more than 30 days old. What's up with that? You would think that a bug (minor or major) would be worth fixing regardless of when it was discovered or how long it's been in the game (unless perhaps after a period of time/updates Jagex can't fix certain bugs?). My two cents. If anyone is interested, please report the bug where wearing the mime mask removes your hair (only when you wear it). I used to look like the Joker with my wild spikes and mime mask, but now I look like a bald guy who painted his skull gray under his mask. Let's riot in w66 over it! ;)
  11. Didn't realize that my post would generate so much discussion. Thanks for all the interesting insight into GE sniping. Although I don't currently have the cash to attempt sniping anything really cool, I'll keep these tricks in mind should I get there someday. New question: There was discussion on this thread about a year ago regarding a possible phat crash (mostly for the lower 3 phats). Instead of that happening, partyhats have steadily increased in both GE and street value while most other rares/expensive items (excluding crackers and half-wines) have dropped in value (relatively speaking). As a result of the way that Runescape has evolved, do you think partyhats will continue to rise indefinitely or is there a limit to this madness (max cash perhaps)? For your viewing pleasure: [hide]NOTE: The vertical scale is not consistent, thus "flattening" the price graph a little (it should look steeper). :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: [/hide] Theoretically, if all the partyhats rose to max cash in GE value, would their street values increase or disappear? Since they would all have the same GE value, their respective street values should be solely based on color rarity and color demand rather than potential profit as a long term investment. But could (or would) they even be traded anymore due to trade restrictions (can you trade above the max cash limit if both sides are balanced)? Thanks for considering! :)
  12. I decided to check out some cheating websites to see what kind of snipebots are available (to better understand what I am up against). Interestingly, although snipebots can place orders for items at superhuman speeds, they are not infallible and often struggle to successfully snipe stuff because of the mechanics of the Grand Exchange. Some of the complaints from cheaters include: --- Not all items update at the same time. --- Not all of the worlds update at the same time. --- Leaving the buying window open for too long causes it to not show a GE update when it happens. If these claims are true, I would argue that the dedicated (human) sniper has a significant chance (albeit based on luck) of getting something if he/she tries enough (assuming that items update randomly at random times on random worlds). It's like going to a giant drop party at the Falador party room. When and where the balloons appear are random, and if you are fortunate enough to pop a balloon the prize inside is randomly chosen from the items in the chest (or lack thereof). With enough tries, you are almost guaranteed to get something good from a drop party (I speak from experience as a party room bum :P ). So 'potentially' I could be in the right world at the right time to be among the first to see that magical moment when the price of a particular rare updates (while all the other merchants, hoarders, wealthy players, snipebots, and random noobs on other worlds miss out during those critical early seconds/minutes as the GE update propagates throughout the system). Then again these assumptions could be wrong and thus my conclusions would be totally off. NOTE: I do not approve, support, or promote the use of snipebots or cheating websites. My research and subsequent post were simply to educate myself and contribute to the discussion of rare item circulation through the Grand Exchange.
  13. Perhaps. But if everyone believed that then I wouldn't have any trouble buying my partyhat from the ge. ;) So then every reasonable person who decides that sniping a partyhat is impossible corresponds to one less person to compete with me.
  14. Thanks for the advice! That's sort of how I felt but I just wasn't sure. (And I'll try to do a better job next time at detecting sarcasm  )
  15. Can we please stop attacking each other? It's getting really old. <_< OT: I have a noob f2p account with a Santa hat and 110M that I solo merchant with (mostly just flipping crashing items). Since the Santa hat has been fairly stable around the 100M mark but the Red mask is still falling, would it be better financially to hold the Santa hat for possible future gains and merch with the 110M or sell the Santa hat to buy a Red mask for min (instant 7 mil profit) and merch with the 70M? Or should I buy 2 Santa hats and merch with only 16M? I like Santa hats because they are a more fluid item than the masks (faster upward potential), but masks tend to retain their value longer during a crash (fewer price updates). But if the masks recover, will this cause the Santa Hat to fall temporarily (as people sell Santa hats to free up cash for buying masks)? And is there any possible chance that I could acquire a partyhat on that account (given lots of time, effort, and determination)? Thanks and  for keeping this thread alive.
  16. My brother once teleported a penguin a while ago using a fairy ring. The penguin walked around and acted normally. Then he killed it (to see if he could). However I do find it extremely unlikely that the corporeal beast was tele'd out. Like previously mentioned, someone would have screenied it, vidded it, or atleast told all of their friends about it while it was still alive. Plus who would have killed it to make it go away? :-k
  17. My two cents. I happened to visit the site "Rstrends.com" when it was first posted in the discussion forum (perhaps foolishly so). The next day my father performed a thorough malware and spyware scan on my computer. And guess what we found? Nothing! So quit your e-bullying you haters. :shame: Just felt I had to say that.
  18. I believe you can only sell 50k spirit shards at a time. For someone with 2B in spirit shards (approximately one max cash pile) it would require 1600 transactions to sell the 80,000,000 shards (at 25 gp each). That takes a LONG time to do. That's why many uber rich players either invest in rare/expensive items or sacrifice a GE slot to store their extra money (with 6 GE slots, 1 bank space, and your inventory you could potentially have 8 max cash piles or 17,179,869,176 gp).
  19. Spot the glitch? Happened to me during regicide quest. I climbed out of the pit trap and somehow fell back in by no clipping and got stuck there :ohnoes:. Then about 15 minutes later I lost connection and the game kicked me out of the void and I was free again
  20. Jagex revealed on March 2, 2010 that they had banned a player with 1004 days of playtime for abusing the d-bolt duping bug. Link --> Cheating and Exploits
