Errrr...basically: Serfs make their own wool blankets Imperial government buys some wool Sends wool blankets over Furs that would've been used as garments for the natives are sent back to Russia Furs cover cost of wool Everyone wins! :D Yesh, Vodka!

Well the good fur from Alaska could then be sold on the world market, and some of the proceeds could then be used to buy wool for the serfs. :)

Well I seem to have a huge hole in my defences. My moats freeze over in the winter. :D
-
Napoleonic Hegemony
It would probaly be more profitable to give them cheaper wool-based items and sell the furs.

Noooooo, all my water froze over during the winter. Will my dwarves die? :(

How many natives even live in Alaska? (And the neighboring areas around Alaska) If the number of able-bodied men is too few to be a threat (maybe less than five thousand?), then I inform the nobles that they can do as they please, but they have to deal with any revolts themselves. The imperial government also suggests that the natives are only worked reasonably, so that they stay alive longer and trap more furs over the long run. Basically, we're not forcing them but it's encouraged. I'll spend a hundred thousand supplying the natives with blankets and such.

When you mean completely flooded, is that seven units of water?

I guess the better way for me to phrase what I'm saying is: it really annoys me, so if you could please stop with that.

If I build a channel connecting to a surface body of water, will the channel (when filled) act as a moat?

I have finally created my first functional fortress! Unfortunately, I have no idea how to defend it, so I better figure out some drawbridge system soon.

Nex, I think the last two panels are the elf leaving and the dwarf pulling the lever anyways.

That is not my problem. My problem is that you are essentially proxying. "They tell, they lie, they give, they ignore, etc" are phrases that are affirmative. Not "They probaly would, or they could." Just let Dusty sort that out.

The Back Room
Well we were trying to set up a lunch table purely for intellectual conversation, but that fell apart rather quickly.

Sadly there aren't many good private schools in our area, because our public school system is supposedly good already. On the other hand, when I lived in Singapore, I went to a Montesorri school for Kindergarden, and I was two years ahead in mathematics when I got out. That has eroded to one year, mainly from lack of teaching.

First of all, you're proxying like a moderator, when you're not a moderator. I am trying to play the game differently. Dusty has already told me that there would be consequences for everything I do, but that is fine with me. I would certainly have done it differently if you were moderator. I can deal with one person being a moderator at a time, but when two people are trying to moderate a game at the same time, especially with such differing world views, then EVERYTHING except doing nothing leads to total chaos and collapse. That is why no one is doing anything interesting. Secondly, output doesn't decrease because the workers aren't being worked to the bone. If we have five healthy workers that are ALIVE producing 5 furs a year compared to four unhealthy workers producing 5 furs a year (and one dead worker), then it's just as good. It's also more sustainable. My proof of that is several successful companies in the United States that aren't treating their workers like crap and are doing fine. Okay, whatever. Nobles can treat the natives like crap if they want to, but they have to deal with the native uprisings themselves.

Urgh, I'm slugging through American public school. :( Wierd thing is that my friends have extremely high ambitions, so what we lose in curriculum, we gain in diophantine equations, string theory, and law.

I used the newb pack, so I don't know. Also, I have no clue how to do that either. :?
