There's a difference. I'm asking if there will be a session so I can schedule accordingly. :)

Will we have a session today?

It's world war one or around that time period. The only divide is between top secret and everyone knows. I mean, the level of secrecy needed to keep a project out of the common knowledge is pretty big. It also makes sense that it would take slower, because you'd have to screen the researchers and force them to stay in the compound (to keep em from sharing secrets). Then you'd have a small pool of researchers that would be trusted because you couldn't rely on the private spheres (like pharmaceutical or chemical companies for instance) to help you out.

Will the provincial value map be up tonight? (And possibly the infrastructure values for our countries) I'd like a chance to critique (synonym for argue with me :P) them.

Logical extrapolation Archi: I can build a material stronger than steel for my ships in the middle ages. Icu: They are not readily available and cost effective in that amount required to build a small armada. Unless... Retech: Since we can build such a material in the middle ages, we can build even better ones today! Goooooo tanks!

Unfortunately I think that I did nerf the ships a bit too much (or at least didn't inform Archi well enough when he was doing the planning stages). Sorry. And if it's over and done, why did you bring it up again Nex?

What's a clart? If you recall, Spain had complete knowledge of the upcoming attack and prepared fully for it, with a plan to counter everything within the attack. The hulls of the ships weren't considerably stronger than a regular ship of the same size, meaning they were easily targeted by a prepared defence on shore. That and the betrayal by Doom's fleet contributed to the chaos that made it difficult for the far superior weaponary of Archi's superweapon ships from having as much of an effect.

It was merely a suggestion Nex. :) And yes, I was wondering about the province values. Will that be posted later?

Here is the list for the great powers of 1900, which seems to be more accurate than the 1919 list, for the alternate history in this game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_powers Austro-Hungary British Empire Empire of Japan France German Empire Italy Russian Empire United States

Purple is Ottoman Empire. Sage Green is Austro-Hungary.- A Time for Glory Planning Thread
I think that people who have reserved countries before should be able to take the country they chose, if it still exists. And if Japan is not one of the playable countries for whatever reason, I shall take Siam.- A Time for Glory Planning Thread
Ummm, what happened to the independant nations of Japan and China? If those are being included, I will take Japan.- A Time for Glory Planning Thread
Great map! What are the provincial values? And are we still planning on starting today?- Dungeoneering Again
So how would I throw up my hands and quit from that? :P- Dungeoneering Again
If it was a nerf then I'd go back to training, until I had the same capabilities as I had before. If it's affecting future levels, then that would be okay and should be open to discussion. The whole thing I was doing originally was defining my magic, so I knew what I could do and what I couldn't. Basically, nerf magic all you'd like, but don't nerf something I've already achieved. Think about what happened when you realized (or I suppose maybe heard again after choosing to ignore it) that anyone could use soul magic, when you thought it was special because it could only be used by the rightous (At least how I interpreted what you said). And then half of your stuff doesn't work. I'm only ever pissed when I feel I've been unfairly nerfed. Applying a legal concept, you can't charge someone with a crime if they commited the act before the law was passed. Make adjustments before the game or far in advance of where anyone is going to be. (Probaly the same in Britain) It is probaly not going to affect anyone that master level happens to be 20, 50, or 100, as long as they don't lose what they already have. Just to make it clear, my goal is not to reach master level. That's way beyond the scope of concievable time at the moment.- Dungeoneering Again
Clearly I am not nearly as powerful as you think I am (though I won't stop you from thinking that :P). I've just been trying out a lot of different skills, so I am merely more versatile, not necessary twice or three times as powerful. Just more consistently powerful over many situations.- Dungeoneering Again
The thing is that we already have master-level at level 20. So I am asking, in order to make your change, are you making the magic of a master better or nerfing everyone elses magic and slowing advancement so that we would reach the current master-level of magical strength at level 50 than level 20. Regardless, my character has done nothing out of character (except maybe the twister over the lake, but that was just random boredom). She has acquired proficient use of magic, tried to help the refugees running from Hallowsdale (part of her reason for learning magic), and has started a trip to somewhere. The only thing is that I don't try to leave until I have a toolkit (aka the spells that I had invented/experimented with). That way, I don't necessarily have to make up a spell on the spot that I'm unsure about (and might be too energy-draining), but I can just pull out a spell that I have used once or twice and documented that it was easy and that I could do it with two hands behind my back and my eyes shut (which I could remind Ross about if he'd like). The way of the scholar. Trying a new spell off the field rather than using it while fighting a ridiculously more powerful opponent.- Dungeoneering Again
So are you suggesting that "master" means something better, or everything else means something worse? Level 50 master makes level 20 or so intermediate, which makes level 5 terrible. :P- Dungeoneering Again
Well it would be simple for the moderator (or tell the player to put down)to simply make a little note on what the person has done most with a skill. For example, if someone uses fire magic for only glassblowing, it would be notated that their specialty is glassblowing, and then presumbly they would get a larger bonus and generally know more stuff about glassblowing or whatever. My only problem with Archi's system is that it uses lots of fractions (which leads to some problems) and the redistribution issue. There is no issue if it were adjusted in the future, but usually you're not supposed to lose skills that you've already learned before. Instead you can still specialize with the current system. I'm sure that Ross will know that if you've been cranking out a special kind of fire spell for a while, then you'd be more comfortable with it than someone who just saw you do it, so he can just make little adjustments on that. --- Also, specialisms are the reason that multiple magicks exist, since they each have their own "character". If you want to fly for instance, better start wind magic (or to some extent some other magicks might do it too, but probaly not nearly as well).- Dungeoneering Again
So further subdividing skills and making it take even longer to get to a usable level? I think everything is fine the way it is. Magic can be used for both "good" and "evil" purposes, and it only depends on the intention of the magician.- Dungeoneering Again
Vengeance is totally not evil. It was mixed in with misguided righteousness as well. :) - A Time for Glory Planning Thread
