  1. Merry Christmas everyone. :)
  2. Christmas Dungeoneering: The Avatars of the Old Gods have been released once again, but the biggest concern for the adventurers is that Santa has gone missing! Embark on an epic quest involving a dungeon crawl through the lair of an ice giant and a fierce encounter with a pack of wyverns to reach the North Pole and save Christmas!
  3. Counter-counter Arguement: Issue: Use of Future Information for advantage Resolution: All resources and events discovered/occured after 1920 are randomised, preventing foreknowladge, except in the case of using near-future events as precedence, to establish to the moderator the likely course of events Reason 1: Many future events were bound to happen (Second Industrialisation of Japan) Reason 2: Randomising events may cause disadvantages, rather than just preventing unfair advantages. (Like randomising China's fate after 1965 and saying that it will always remain a fractured and failed communist experiment) Reason 3: Randomised events are often highly unrealistic and skew the balance towards already powerful countries, due to the moderator's natural adherence to game balance (thus ignoring natural historical declines of empires and the like)
  4. Oh, is it possible to upgrade irregular to regular infantry? If so, how much does it cost/how much time does it take?
  5. 1 turn = 3 Game months Reset = Once a year Reset = 4 turns I think it's great that we're going at a slower pace for once.
  6. Then the railroad fails and the Russians overthrow their government. :P
  7. Proposed Research: Action: Japan announces research on improved aircraft carriers Result: Development of an upgraded version of the old seaplane carriers used in world war one, with expanding capability and range Reason 1: Japanese already used planes launched from seaplane carriers in 1914, giving them unique insight into the flaws and advantages of the aircraft carrier (allowing improvements on things other nations probaly don't know about) Reason 2: Japanese government during the time period has been incredibly supportive of military technology research Reason 3: The battles that the Japanese participated in with old aircraft carriers had positive outcomes, reinforcing the belief that carriers were the next generation of vessels. Proposed Time to completion: 10 years Proposed Cost: Five million (so 500,000 per year) Proposed Research: Action: Japan announces research on improving industrial efficiency through scientific solutions Result: Improvement of industrial efficiency and slightly reduced cost for upkeep of mechanical units + 0.05 Industry Reason 1: http://en.wikipedia....rial_efficiency (Clearly possible) Reason 2: Japanese government directly controls the strings to many Industrial conglomarates Reason 3: Japanese business frequently work and participate in the government Proposed Time to completion: 1 year Proposed Cost: 500,000 Proposed Project: Action: Japanese government supports heavy industry conglomarates like Mitsubishi and works with those conglomarates and workers to create legendary Japanese efficiency Result: Increased heavy industry output and efficiency. Improved national morale due to drop in unemployment. + 0.1 Industry (One time "Japan" action) Reason 1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keiretsu (There is also a version before the end of world war two) Historically, this kind of cooperation helped Japan prosper. Reason 2: Heavy industry output due to war time often relieves unemployment, as seen when the US entered world war two Reason 3: The industrial conglomarates already exist Proposed time to completion: 1 year Proposed Cost: Five hundred thousand Proposed Project: Action: Japan begins a longer-term blossoming of heavy industry known as the Showa period, essentially Japan's second industrial revolution. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_production_in_Sh%C5%8Dwa_Japan Result: Boom of heavy industrial output and efficiency. +0.1 every five years for 10 years (total of 0.2) Reason 1: Actually happened Reason 2: Japan's industry has started below that of Russia, and thus has room for huge expansion (as does Russia) Reason 3: Actually happened Proposed time to completion: Ten years Proposed Cost: Free
  8. Tiger wanted to be China and texted me to tell you, but presumbly he's off for Christmas vacation.
  9. It should also be at risk of destruction, because you're kinda at war.
  10. It would probaly be cheaper and more effective for Japan, because shipping by water is easier than shipping by land, and over shorter distances too. And it's not that Spork gave America any disadvantages due to its size, so I don't see why it would fix anything when you built the highways. As I recall, the highways were built in the 1950s or something.
  11. Icu, you realize that the first project would triple your income?
  12. I was planning to talk that over with Spork about the specifics, but I just posted them here because they weren't supposed to be secret. It's just there to give people an idea. Also, I wanted to let Spork decide rather than have my start asking for something, so that it can stay consistent with his system. I didn't really know much about it, so I decided that it wouldn't help if I made even an estimate.
  13. Just setting it up, Rocco. :)

  15. ^ So we're doing that?
  16. I don't understand. I've signed up for MSN and have it as my homepage, but I don't know what to do next. :( --- Stork, I can see that happening.
  17. CoA is taken but UK is free.
  18. Japan unilaterally declares peace with China and waits for China to reply. Further, it declares that it shall not have mutually beneficial relations or otherwise help any European nation having colonies in South-east Asia (If you're unsure, you can always ask), until a deal is reached to sell/cede those colonies to the Empire of Japan. This includes access through Japanese territories, refueling at Japanese ports, and seeking Japanese aid in conflicts. This policy does not apply to colonies outside Southeast Asia (for example, India does not count), or countries which are in South-east Asia but are not colonies (Australia).
  19. Going to sleep now. Please don't attack me in the few hours between when the game starts and I wake up. :P
  20. Well it kinda starts at midnight, so we should know what we can do before we do it. :)
  21. I think a simple thing would be that Trol would give us the costs for troops and an extra hit of our starting budget to purchase troops and stuff.

  23. Oh, does anyone know if Trol meant 12 PM Eastern or 12 PM GMT?
  24. Grim, I thought you were going to be Austro-Hungary? I can't make anymore French jokes if you're playing as France. :(
