I think in America, chips are generic potato chips and crisps seem to be different kinds of things (like maybe sweet potato or something). At least that's been my experience.

Okay, first of all, Hegemony is a game. You can attack whoever you want. You can also blame whoever you want, but that doesn't really mean anything unless people agree with you. Applause on the passive aggressive apology though. They're my favorite. :)

I think the sticky was removed when the admins put up the friendlier ruler and guidelines of the Tavern. Maybe it's still around here somewhere?

Archi's original Dungeoneering/Roll to Dodge = Charlamagne (Ancestor of all the other Dungeoneering games) Retech's/Ross' Dungeoneering = Queen Victoria (Inbreeding causes threads to quickly suffer abandonment) Right side of diagram = To other families of Dungeoneering games I wonder how the Hegemony tree will look.

Well we all knew that, but like the complete history of all the Hegemonies, from the successful to the ones that didn't really get up off the ground.

Do you remember the evolution of Hegemony games?

It's my version now? I thought it was old Archi's Dungeoneering and new Archi's Dungeoneering. :)

Dungeoneering Again
Are you kidding me Iconic? I've gotten that after YOH and Ross probaly got it after he took over for Archi in Dungeoneering. It's just that Archi's games are always the best and most popular, so naturally he will burn out faster. He keeps tracks of details as well, so it's a lot of work. Moderating for a buncha crazy people is DEFINITELY TIRING. Then again in recent memory, Stork burned out a few times and Nex seems to burnout before he starts. :P

We could probaly remove half of the stuff for random comments and mistypings and whatnot, but it seems pretty clear that Space is more active than Dungeoneering. The only difference is that Dungeoneering goes up faster because it is usually daily, but Space has shorter actions (because it's IRC). As a whole, I think it evens out pretty nicely, since there's only so fast the moderator can go. Anywho, I was just looking through the "topics I've posted" section of my profile page as well as Archi's. Ahhhh nostalgia. The constant warring, the Mongolian threat, the betrayal of the coalition by Doom, Ross' crazy contraptions and citadel, Archi's equal crazy ships which I completely unbalanced and nerfed several times, and the trading system which I made but completely botched. The memories. :)

We've had a lot of Dungeoneering and Hegemony styled games. In the defence of Hegemony though, it did spawn all the other Hegemony games. Also, Nex + Earth joined Dungeoneering, so I think Dungeoneering seems to be the most popular form of game (I'm sorta lumping Space into this too)

That's actually pretty good. Nice work.

Dungeoneering Again
Wait, I thought that Space was only moved to Tuesday temporarily. So I was wondering when the first session would be. I can't play on Sundays, but the rest sounds good (Monday/Tuesday and Friday).

Dungeoneering Again
Oh Ross, since Space was moved to Tuesday, when will the first session of this be?

Dungeoneering Again
Name: Jen Background: A scholar that has recently felt the pull and allure of harnessing the power of magic. She recently began research into the field of ice magic. Unfortunately, the tomes in the local wizardly libraries contained hardly any information, forcing her to travel out into the wild to search for it herself. The death of her family and her lover meant that she had no personal ties to keep her from pursuing her quest, so that she could have the power and not be pushed around, because she was "just a woman." Appearance: Her skin has grown pale from years of indoor living, making her look somewhat ghostly. Her icy blonde hair and chilling blue stare honed from years of convincing people through intimidation and knowledge rather than strength help add to this frightening effect. She prefers to wear shapeless robes, usually with a cowl or hood that covers most of her face. Alignment/Personality: Neutral/Chaotic Good. Her quest in life was to attain power so that she wouldn't be pushed around and could project strength, but it was not to the exclusion of helping the weak. She has little patience for the strongman, but it wouldn't stop her from aligning herself with evil forces to gain the power she desired. Traits -Strength 2 -Skill 4 -Toughness 3 -Charisma 8 -Willpower 8 Inventory (Leave empty, will be used later)

So which skill is generally good for general wizardry? Basically equivilant to intelligence in DnD.

Dungeoneering Again
What's skill? And are we having a session today?

IRC dungeoneering.
Well different channels would prevent metagaming, but it's always more interesting to see other players' actions (and you can talk OOC with em too).

That would sound interesting. What would the other systems be? Would it be exp like the original and death mechanic much like the original?

Space
Well the AI for the Kirby was the same as the Unity, so I wasn't sure if I could actually do that. Also, my new character wouldn't have known there were secret protocols. :) The Kirby only suffered 130kt of damage, while it had at least a thousand kt of investment in it. Actually the thing I was most mad about was when Theros renamed it the Saber. I think the Kirby was worth more than the Unity (not completely sure, because the Unity had a better hull) Four ion cannons + Fixtures = 400 kt Destroyer Hull = 950 kt Refinery = 300kt Sensors = 200 kt Life support/bridge/crew quarters = 500 kt Cargo bay and medical bay = 200 kt Stealth armoring = 100kt? So salvaging it would've been a big waste of resources.

Space
No thanks Earth. :) The idea will probaly come to me eventually.

Space
Uhh, I might, but I'll have to figure out what I'll want to do first. Usually I have goals in games, and I sorta lost mine, so I'll have to figure out something new. Still hoping for a reincarnation of the original Dungeoneering, because then I could play the ice witch completely in character, wtihout randomly destroying stuff that other people need.

Space
It stopped being completely an RPG when the metagaming started. Losing your ship because it was blown up or something (acceptable) is totally different from losing your ship for outside reasons (not wanting to ruin game mechanics). I'm sure that you realize that if I was playing completely in character, I would've run or fought (not acceding to their demands), but my consideration of not ruining game mechanics and the knowledge that I could make a new character (which is also metagaming) made me do what I did. I've learned a valuable lesson. Act completely in character no matter what, because you will have a valid defence when you screw over diplomatic relations, wake up a dangerous monster, or whatever other consequence that could result.

Space
The thing is that Space turned out to be completely different from a Dungeoneering game. (Not that it's like bad, but it's different). In Dungeoneering, everything basically boiled down to skills and items. Boom magic and magical items essentially. The thing was that you died and lost a few skills, but it didn't really matter much at all. In Space, everyone has an obligation to everyone else from the beginning, since we're all one crew. (And you can't exactly go loner because there's more or less one or two ships) Then I get pissed because I feel that some people aren't putting in an even share of the work, and then they are claiming everything belongs to the crew. Long story short, I'm a super-capitalist and doesn't like being forced to help others, unless I want to do it myself, but that's how it turned out. So I figured, the Kirby was going to be my goal in the game. Basically, have a cool ship that would go around and support the Unity. In the end, it was commandeered into a fleet ship with 100kt or so resources, and that was basically it for me. Also, it's not like you respawn with your ship when you die, so it doesn't quite work that way. Imagine it as someone stealing all of your skills in a day. No big deal though. I would just feel restricted if I kept playing, and it wouldn't like Dungeoneering, which is still my favorite game by far. I just invested too much in the Kirby, which looking back seemed like a pretty stupid idea. Maybe I should've just accumalated a huge bank account and kept secret research or something.

The Back Room
Well in a way, Space is a lot like Dungeoneering, so it is living on, in some form or another. Without a new formula, Hegemony won't work because we'll all minmax and use the same old strategies until the mod goes crazy.
