  1. Come to picturesque The ShacklesTM! Experience the uniquely accommodating atmosphere! Explore the local mysteeeeeerious cave systems! Peruse our famous exotic 'spice' markets! The ShacklesTM! Spend the rest of your days in style!
  2. Okay, so you want an anime... With at least one female character... Who is in a comedic... 'tsundere'... romance with the male lead... With the comedy of individual relationships inversely proportional to the total number... And you don't want it to be grim, dark, or inconsitent. Sounds like everything I've heard or seen about Infinite Stratos. Go watch it, if you don't like it, then go find someone else to ask/find how to use the search bar on TvTropes.
  3. All is forgiven up to the point where you start talking like the people in the shows he'll be watching. Then we shoot you, just above the beak.
  4. Bear in mind that this isn't social outcasts of three nations giving advice from their cultural backgrounds; this is social outcasts of three nations giving advice based on vague and narrow hearsay of a small part of a fourth nation's cultural background. There's much more excuse to be fallible. :P That aside, Piano Anklet would make a fantastic name for a terrible band.
  5. See, had I the heart to troll, I would agree. But I know how truly, uncomprehendably horrible some anime can be. Thus, I will help him personally or get bored trying. Okay I'm bored now. The only one I've watched on the list other than Toaru is a few episodes of Infinite Stratos. It's not nearly as good, but you might like it. I've also heard generally positive reviews of Mahou Sensei Negima, though I never got around to watching it. For the love of god don't watch that Vampire show. It was the second thing to teach me in my younger days that youtube can be a disturbing place.
  6. ... Ah. You're right, I misunderstood. I didn't know what Fairy Tail was like, and most of what I remember from the Toaru series is Touma punching people, the one blonde guy's awesome Hawaiian shirt, and Accelerator as a father being absolutely precious. And, of course, A Certain Eurobeat Remix of Only My Railgun. I was thinking an actiony time-waster, when you wanted, to quote TvTropes, a "Battle Harem" cast, as I understand it. Not my area of expertise, but I can look.
  7. One of my favourites is Soul Eater; Pros: -Fairly Solid Action -Occasional comedic romance between the female lead and her partner/weapon -No one really gains power without explanation, and as far as I recall none of it seemed cheapened -Pretty good, simple plot (for an anime): basically, warriors and humans that turn into weapons vs. witches, demons, and a god of madness Cons: -Several main characters, and even supporting characters can get their own episodes -On the surface, it's patently silly -Fight scenes can get a little monologue-ish I don't watch anime all that much anymore, I'll look around for something that fits the bill better. Oh, just remembered; Full Metal Alchemist. If you haven't watched it, you should give it a try. The first series (just Full Metal Alchemist) is generally better, but has to create its own ending (it was based on a written story, caught up to it, and pretty much said "Well, now what?"), Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood follows the storyline all the way, but isn't quite as good at telling the same parts. The first series, at least, has everything you wanted, though the romance doesn't pop up very often. It should be noted that all three anime I mentioned can be found on youtube.
  8. Pah, Pirate points. Now, if you were awarding Antipirate feats... I'm willing to contribute little analyses for reference and world-building, though. Sedrial's Knowledge: Morpeak (I name thee by the power of AMERICA!) Island - Average game and plant life, fresh water inland, potentially lies on some sort of weak foundations, dominating feature is a middling caustic mountain in the center. Prior to the beach's collapse, there was a single coastal village whose main export was shells similar or identical to those used in the Shackles as currency. Status of the villagers unknown. Personal Contacts -Kind Old Woman, friend of/introduced Trader Captain, shell merchant, acquaintance, presumed dead (?) --Interactions: Received imitation Shackleshell (500) for 5 gp, invited to dinner -Trader Captain, friend of Kind Old Woman, ran counterfeit Shackleshells, acquaintance/business, relocated --Interactions: Helped during beach catastrophe, received passage to Shackles The Shackles - Haven for organized crime; black marketeers, gangs, smugglers, and pirates (?) in abundance. The surrounding waters are certainly strewn with corpses and other underworld leavings. Uses shells of varying size as currency. Personal Contacts -Trader Captain (see Morpeak Island) --Interactions: Recieved business card -Whaler, no known relations, runs candle shop/captains whaling ship, employer, alive --Interactions: Recieved Shackleshell (500) for whale nose advice, served on vessel
  9. But I don't like Jellyfish I suppose my Fortitude save can handle it though.
  10. I go where the winds of plot take me! Also I can take Leadership next level, even with Charisma as my dump stat it would be pretty cool to lead a guild of some sort. I can see it now... "The Guild of Pirates Who do Nothing".
  11. While you young scamps run around in your little pirate hideout, I'll be over here in the Shackles, making money, perhaps even starting a mercenary company. ... I feel so alooooone
  12. Might be just a tad late, nothing major.
  13. I'd like to change my character to a Briareos Hecatonchires Titan Mauler/Synthesist multiclass. :ugeek: Nah, but really, I like my Barbarian the way they are.
  14. -1,, Nexaduro dislikes this, unshared, Teewted
  15. Wut/10
  16. You could buy a PS3 :twss:
  17. Have you played Dark Souls though? All the names and titles are wrong, they talk about game features that don't exist... I can only assume someone must've badly translated it from another language.
  18. Wait a moment here. Joysticks? I'm fairly certain those are only used for flight simulators. If you mean controllers... That's a matter of familiarity, and objectively speaking they are vastly simpler and more ergonomic. Obviously not everyone can just pick up and use one, especially if they're used to the keyboard and mouse controls, but for action games they can be at least as effective in proficient hands.
  19. Regarding bad ports: Play Dark Souls, then read the description of the Prepare to Die edition on Steam. As it has yet to come out, I'm hoping it's just a bad translation. In honesty, ports of just about anything based in or originally presented with a given media usually suffer in other forms of media. Of course, the most recent Transformers games, Batman games and movies, and the James Bond movies exist among others as notable exceptions to the rule, though I don't really have any examples for or against PC ports.
  20. Sim City 2000 and Populace were the games of my childhood. Probably says something that I can't make head nor tail of either in terms of strategy nowadays, I'm too used to simple point and click strategy, whereas they are made intricate by the complete lack of information provided. That's the sort of game I love, I just can't play them competently anymore. Sort of funny, really. When I was three I could do and deal with anything in those games. I even could goomba stomp heavyweight enemies to death or shot them up with peashooters in the smallest mechs in Mechwarrior Vengeance and did high speed no-damage runs of Tyrian 2000. Everything seemed simpler then. What was I talking about?
  21. I do. I think I still have Live, too, though I've wanted to cancel it for a few months.
  22. I own the gold edition of Civ III, it's most of the reason that I stopped playing so many strategy games. It ate way too much of my time, I would play in no-win single nation games for a few thousand turns after unlocking all of the research tree and building every wonder of the world. While I had work to do. One of the few things I remember about that game is how infuriating it was that you had to go through all of the ridiculous and costly negotiations with any nation you so much as wanted to travel the waters of, yet they did whatever the hell they wanted.
  23. Completionism is okay. Obsessive completionism is a bother. I'm the guy who has to do twenty minutes worth of backtracking just to stand in one corner and fill out the minimap all the way. This is a problem in Pokemon games since they have an improbable and unnecessary number of variables. On a separate note... I almost agree with Mather. Thinking back on it, I really did enjoy travelling the game world of Runescape.
  24. Mather, that is exactly what spoiled my fun. Grinding, in a Pokemon game? Makes me physically ill. However, since I know everything can't be 100% perfect otherwise, I start to obsess over every little thing whether I want to or not. Sucks every ounce of fun out of the game. Thank god for the Nuzlocke Challenge, or I would never be able to enjoy it again. Of course, Nuzlocke Challenges require skill, gameplay familiarity, and usually, owning one of the earlier generation games...
  25. I used to love Pokemon. Then I read about all the level-up mechanics, the event pokemon, and all the other stuff that makes perfection unattainable. It right spoiled my fun, what with my obsessive completionist complex. Alternately, until I took an arrow to the knee, or some such.
