Sorry guys, but sales mean squat. Its well known that the first game console (or in this case handheld) that makes it to the market first usually wins the sales battle, since it is out first and no one person wants to wait. Its happened with PS2. And it'll probably happen with the XBox 360. And if I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong), but didn't the DS beat the PSP out onto the market? I don't follow handhelds that much anymore (I've outgrown them). I don't know why people constantly always look at the sales for answers... when the answer couldn't be more clear. The above reason is why I read up on Specs instead of looking at the actual sale numbers. A handheld/console can easily be better, but have less sales. XBox was better then PS2, yet PS2 STILL has more units sold then XBox (if I recall correctly). I don't even own a XBox and I'll at least fess up to that. Its all about winning the race to the market. My prediction this year: XBox360 will beat PS3 out on market (thats a given), but PS3 will be better. Just watch and see.
  2. ...What was the point if you just said it was fake...? Also, this doesn't belong here on this forum anyways. You basically just spammed, and then admitted to it.
  3. Like I said... use the search button... This is like the 4th topic about this ordeal within the past 2 or 3 days. Don't mean to be so rude, but it does get extremely tiring repeating yourself over and over again (and then people wonder why my post count is so high :? ). Use the search button or page down on just the front page alone. There are at LEAST 2 topics (possibly 3) already about this.
  4. Yall really need to start using the search button. And to correct maisuna... It's "ipconfig /flushdns" not just "/flushdns". /flushdns is a command in ipconfig.
  5. Wouldn't know what the problem is then, to be honest. That is the only solution I found concerning Windows XP at all. Everything else has to do with Win2K (including the first one I have listed). Highly doubt its a virus, but if you still want to PM the path to me to take a look, I wouldn't mind doing so. Thats about the only other thing I could suggest.
  6. Here is what I've found on it so far. I'm still looking, but I thought I would bring this to your attention. Also note... most of these problems I have been reading up on have been on Win2k and nothing else. Have yet to see any actual problems listed on XP. So don't panic so much. EDIT: First problem/solution I've found for XP (Professional) Had to look into what he was referring to as far as the "SYSTEM control panel", but its basically just the "My Computer" properties. To get this up, simple right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". Then click the "Advanced" tab. Near the bottom will be your Environmental variables. Click that button and it will list everything. Then select the word "PATH" and copy that. You can PM the path to me and I can look at it to see if there is anything wrong with it. It'll all probably appear to be jibberish in a way. If its anything like mine was, everything is crammed together and hard to read.
  7. First off... if its a server problem, there is no point in going to them about it. Chances are they already know. The Beta server has absolutely nothing to do with this. Especially if its for staff only. They can esily create a small network that hosts the Beta version of the game without it interferring with anything else. Infact they don't even need an internet service to use the Beta version. All they need is connectivity with one another in the office or they can just as easily play the version by themselves (although I'm pretty sure they would test amoungst eachother). Makes me glad that I normally leave my RS client on all the time and just put my system into sleep mode when I'm done for the night. Lot less pain involved when you don't have to go through all the trouble (or at least just once).
  8. That description could be out of date, but if it isn't... That just goes to show that not only Jagex isn't in touch with their product. If it works, it works. Haven't ran into that problem yet, and hopefully never will. EDIT: Just to add a little bit more to anyone who would like to know. On Windows XP if you hit the Run command and then type in "cmd". That will take you into command prompt where the commands are actually done. And by typing in "ipconfig /?" you can see all the possible commands (including the one Subse7en just shared). They also come with brief descriptions for those who might be a bit hesitant in using the command right away without looking into what it actually does.
  9. *points up* Also, anyone who cares to know. That was taken off the Windows 2000 Advanced Server Documentation. Its a networking command.
  10. Almost forgot to suggest running a spyware scanner. That could help, although I doubt it. Just seems like some certain cookies prevent people from viewing sites. The flushdns command sounds like a networking command. I'll look it up real quick and edit this post in a few. EDIT: And what I found interesting was: I don't know what OS any of you's are using. But that description right there implies that it can only be used on Windows 2000 (while running the DNS Client service). Seems like it would work, its just whether you can actually use that command or not. Subse7en, what OS is your computer running on right now? That would answer a lot of things.
  11. Usually when I get the Page cannot display deal. I just restart my comp. The problem is usually on my end anyways. My connection times out once in awhile, is my guess. Try that, if not, I dunno what else to tell you/suggest.
  12. *Goes and creates 100 characters or so..* To Y2g2003: Although I know you mean it right you should not try to generalize.. What price manipulators do shouldn't be considered merchanting at all - even though people consider it like that. It's basically based on the (not much different and very old) *team scam. Also, it's not true what you said about merchanters making prices go up extra. Rares aren't called 'rare' for no reason. They are just that and will become more of it all that time. Rares only get rarer due to various reasons which are commonly known. Although these effects are all long-term, they do drive up the prices in the end too, and prices of rares wouldn't have been much lower without merchants. *note: I'm not saying price manipulators make the rares overpriced, as they actually do. *Team scam: You let a friend yell "buying pumpkin 10mil" and you yell "selling pumpkin 5mil" yourself. While I agree with you saying these people technically aren't merchants, its just easier to classify them that. Because thats what most of them claim to be. What I was indirectly getting at is... Rares should gradually be going up as they literally become rare. Not because of a bunch of kids standing in Falador World 2 that just want to make a quick buck. If players can't play nice, they problem should be cut off right at the head. And that would be the rares themselves. And I'm not suggesting any solution is the right solution as some of you might be thinking, but I'd much rather see the game without price manipulators. If that would mean destroying the rares market in some form or another... then I say so be it. And I agree with Mayjest on the issue of the prices. Prices would remain the same if the manipulators hadn't of fooled around with them.
  13. *sigh* I really hate picking apart a reply, but I feel you've really left me no choice. Its not because I am mean, mind you. Its the simple fact that you are SO misinformed that it isn't even funny. The ones who are very rich are the ones manipulating the prices... not the people holding onto the hats because they like them. You obviously have no clue whats been going on with the Rares Market lately. Heres some advice, just go look up "r2-plesent" or however he spells his name. Believe me... it'll all make sense. If you do so and can't comprehend, just read on, I'm sure as I ramble on I'll explain why the Rares Market is so corrupt. They aren't much of a status symbol anymore, for one. Merchants and Non Merchants are realizing that Phats (mainly) are just investment tools. No one considers them status symbols for the most part. Hell some people are even all smiles that prices are being manipulated. Some people have a good bit of phats they are still saving up to sell. Like I said before... Rares aren't what they use to be. While yes, it would ruin things, I don't see the point is keeping something in the game that is so corrupt. Hell, maybe it would be better to have any "average Joe" be able to own them. Maybe it would teach merchants a lesson, even though I doubt it. Since when do games HAVE to have status symbols? Give me a break... seriously... There are games out there that have no statless "rare" items at all. There are games that have Vet Rewards, but that rewards those who have played a certain amount of time. Those items can be sold, but believe me... the community in which I'm referring to isn't even half as greedy as the RS Community is. Some of you are so hung up on trying to be better that you're literally overlooking the fact that you are spending money on items that have terribly unstable prices. Prices in which can go up and down at any time (and as some are claiming, phats are supposedly dropping). I don't see how a unstable price of an item can be considered a status symbol, or label you as "rich" and "above the middle class". Lost my train of thought on the last part there, so sorry if it sounds messed up. And those who probably spent the time to get those items either are now spending the time to manipulate the prices of those very same items, in which you are talking about or lowering those prices now because they're done making a killing off them. Take a look at the prices... You'll want to retract the following statement you just said if you did actually take a look. Pretty much already discussed this part. But I must say... Merchanting is NOT a skill. And the problem is the Merchants manipulating the prices. WHich I think I've said about 5 times now in this post. But I'll at least say it another 2 or 3 times until you get the point. This is the part I've been wanting to get to. Theories? Theories you say? Like I said before... look up r2's past posts, just on tip.it)... you'll understand that what I've been saying (amoung others) is NOT a theory. That is the most foolish and insulting thing any one could say regarding this subject. There are no theories, its all fact. And I've read into everything and have even quoted r2 constantly. FUnny thing about it is he hasn't had the NERVE to even reply to my PM or address anything I've said in public. So you tell me... who sounds guilty? Not about to quote anything else. Everything you've said after that I've basically already commented on. Next time... word of advice, and don't take this personal. Do your research on people. When I am so bold as to call someone a price manipulator, I don't just falsely accuse and throw caution to the wind. I look them up, I read their posts, and I witness their lies. I suggest you do the same.
  14. The problem with the rares is... while some look at them as collectors items others are merely using the items as investments. Myself personally own a Santa Hat, a Blue Halloween Mask, and a Green Halloween Mask. And I can honestly say I have no intentions of selling them at all. They're prices could shoot up to 100 Mill tomorrow and I'd think nothing of it. The Santa Hat I got for free from the drop, which holds some sentimental value to me. The Masks I just simply like and I purchased when I was supplying cooks on RSC (back went certs still existed). While Rares aren't what they use to be... I wouldn't want to be forced, nor obligated, to get rid of my items that, at the time, I busted my hump to get or was fortunate enough to accquire. While I don't like to ever place blame, its the merchants, who have nothing better to do, that are making Rares so hard to obtain. Only true solution would to make everything non tradable. And I'm not a real big fan of that idea either, cause I would at least still like to complete my mask set, although I'm having my doubts that that will even happen. Making things untradable just seems like the only solution to me. Unless these nit wits decide to set things right and not bother fooling around with prices again... Which they wont even if they claim they will. They'll get bored again and decide to shoot prices up, or as I like to call it price manipulate. Either way... thats my take on it.
  15. hehe, i used to be a nintendo fanboy but i realized that pc and other systems are greater. all nintendo has now are its famous series, like legend of zelda, mario, etc. i predict nintendo will be out of the console wars after the 3rd gen comes out, due to money and lack of 3rd party support. Another former Nintendo Fanboy here as well (My last system was the 64). While Gamcube seemed like an "ok" system targeted at the younger audience, I was just too old to handle some of the games they were releasing. Only games I was interested at the time were the WrestleMania 19 game (which I read sucked) and Star Wars Rouge Squadron 2 (or whatever its official name was). Jumped over to PS2 and I like it for the titles it has. And all the games I like to play the XBox lacked in anyways really. I sat down and watched the 1 hour and 45 minute (or so) presentation of the PS3 over on IGN, and while they did focus on the Graphics a lot (most of which you wont ever probably see again) it all did look good. Its just a question as to whether that can be delievered in an actual game. I still don't believe any of the presentations were real time though, regardless of what Sony, IGN, or anyone says. The rubber duck demonstration might've been the only exception in my opinion. Granted, I'm not some hardcore gamer. I have my own little types of games I like to play and thats that. But I think that article in general was just a bit harsh on the PS3, because I don't think the author (or anyone, but Sony and developers) can really say how well the progress of the console and games are going. He just seems like a Microsoft fan that just wants to sway people. Either way, we'll see how everything unfolds eventually. I'm more or less getting a PS3... my girlfriend wants a XBox 360 cause its coming out sooner. I'm simply just into Wrestling and NASCAR games, and Yukes/THQ and EA Sports have just seem to do well with those titles so far on the PS2. Can't wait to see what future titles will be like on PS3.
  16. You're not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed either, so I don't see where you have any room to talk. I'm probably one of the most intelligent people here, and this is a stupid thread. Thanks. You surely don't act like it if you can't comprehend nor understand feelings of others regarding a game, especially since everything you say is in the form of an attack. You are basically just full of yourself.
  17. You're not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed either, so I don't see where you have any room to talk.
  18. You're about as narrowminded as half the other people on these forums. He asked if you get shaking. Some people do, others don't. We all know its a game, some of us just don't like to die while others simply don't care. That doesn't mean we take the game too seriously or anything like that, but face it... The object of the game is to NOT die. Use a little common sense and you would have realized that by now. EDIT: I've also experienced cold sensations while pking before. Take that for what its worth, but it was during the winter as well. lol.
  19. I don't really stake or pk so much, but I do go to Castle Wars. I get a bit shacky sometimes cause I really don't like to die, but usually after I go a few games without dieing I stop to care so much. The other night out of about 7 or 8 games, I died a total of one time.
  20. My opinion? I think its wack. And no... not literally... sickos. lol Its been like that since forever. On and off of RS. Guys pose as chicks, get free stuff and all that garbage. A small majority of them probably question their sexuality (had maybe 1 encounter like that *cringes*), but its mainly greed that fuels them. Personally, I don't do it, nor will I bother. I'm a man, been proud of it for a long time. Not about to go get me a sex change, it would be an all time low (no offense ladies).
  21. Like siad before, this shouldn't be on this board. This is to discuss things that are actually in the game, last I recall. Gets too confusing to pick out the real from the fake (the pic helped with that at least). Its a bad idea in my opinion. And the concept basically already exists in game with the Horror From the Deep Quest. While I found it nice, I wouldn't want to fight anything like that on a daily basis... limitations in combat just aren't cool.
  22. heh, you people can think Zezima has everything to do with new skills all you want, that wont change the fact. And the fact is, Jagex could care less what levels Zezima has. The game is open ended and even when he hits straight 99s, the game is far from over. Especially considering he isn't even close to being #1 in everything. I just can't believe how dillusional some of you people really are to think that the game is built around one person. And thank you bs_johannes, its nice to see someone other then me thinking straight for a change when it comes to this subject.
  23. how does this equate to a promise? No wonder you people over-react and get all pissy with jagex when they *gasp* change the plans of their own game. See, thats the thing about it Trix... origionally... They guaranteed everything was coming out on that list. Then the list was tweaked/edited so that they cover their own fannys. They would've been seriously flamed had they of kept the origional News Article unedited. Because the way they origionally had it worded, they more or less guaranteed everything to be out within the year of that article was made. I still have reason to believe everything will be released in that article. It just all isn't going to be out anytime soon. Unless they pick one off at a time with each themed month. Or in some cases (POHs, Carpentry, and Farming) they could do more then one per month.
  24. No, you simply just flame people.
  25. You read the updates? They released them for brutal arrows to range the new ogres that drop those ancient bone thingys  Sounds more like the opposite. Sounds like you aren't the one that reads the updates. It was said that the servers were moved because of a FUTURE update. Not the current update. EDIT: I will state once again... this game is and never will be built around Zezima. Also... just because the nails were specifically brought out for brutal arrows doesn't mean they wont have another use in the near future. I think some of you are seriously being narrow minded by flipping out on others for pointing out that nails were released. POHs could come out in a week, month, or even a year. Who knows. All I know is I'm getting tired of waiting for them (yet again)... as well as the other possible skills/skill additions.
