  1. Yes. Costs too much, companies are milking the crap out of them, and single player campaigns suck nowadays. And this is also true. CoD: Black Ops is a very good example of this. I do however like to think there are a good deal of companies that don't do this though. But, with the concept of DLC being born, gaming overall has changed forever I think. Now it's just whether the company overdoes it (like Treyarch) or are partially fair with it (Not Capcom in general, but Street Fighter 4 is actually relatively fair). I'm sure there are other examples of fair and unfair DLC milking, but those are just 2 games I personally own. Fair would be if it actually adds great new features, such as the Fallout New Vegas DLCs (but not at those prices). Unfair would be like map-packs, which should of been included with vanilla. Adding them in free DLCs would be the next fair thing. Either way, if kids can beg their parents to buy them this crap, companies are going to respond by raising the price on DLCs and games themselves. The ones to blame here are the "gamers": people who buy buy buy and don't really give a damn about it. My friends' little brother, for instance, asks his parents to buy all the special edition crap, DLCs, strategy guides, etc., and for what? The story and artistic elements of a game completely bypasses him and all he ever talks about is game mechanics and achievements, rating them as "totally awesome" or "sucks". It's pretty much the same as people judge/analyze an entire movie on it's acting cast. Directors or writers? Nope. Story, concepts, teachings? Even less. I personally see nothing wrong with special editions and the sort. It's when, as you said, a game like CoD puts out map-packs back to back to back to back as they are doing and charging for it. lol. Also, when it comes to movies, acting has to be decent. If you aren't looking for the acting (on top of other concepts in the movie), just read a book.

  3. I don't think it has anything to do with growing up. As saying that makes it seem like those of us (like myself) who do play video games on a daily basis aren't mature, etc...(for the record, I'm 21). I'd have to agree with Boros in that gaming seems that way to you because you have more interests and most likely have several more hobbies than you once did back in "those days". This means, less time for video games, as well as leaving a sense of not wanting to play them as much if you enjoy your other activities as well (maybe even more so than gaming). I used to play Runescape for a couple years, and I played often. My only form of excersize was my daily run. Same with when I played WoW for a year. Eventually I did get tired of both games, and just stuck to my ps3. A short while after getting the ps3 though, I got into learning industrial dance. So for the past 2 years, I've done far less gaming than I used to do. tl;dr, More activities that catch your interest cause a decrease in wanting to game. Same happened to me when I picked up industrial dance. I play less than half as much as I use to.
  4. Because I'm THAT awesome![/half-irony] Yeah, I dropped the right glass so it broke in half and I had to glue it, but the crack adds character. You are infected. Virus...detected. You are infected. Virus...detected. Sorry, had to. But yes, those are [bleep]ing awesome. >8D
  5. Ugh, I know what you mean. I mean, I haven't had it constantly, but one time when I quit my meds cold turkey, I could not fall asleep for 4 whole days no matter how hard I tried. :/ Now THAT was annoying and painful lol.
  6. Unless of course you've experienced said adrenaline rush. But, let's not derail the thread. lol On another note, I would probably sacrifice whatever portion of my time is required if my grams was to get to the point where she needed a caretaker of sorts. I wouldn't want to send her off to a home, as she doesn't want that. She wants to live in her home until the day she passes. I wouldn't hesitate, not once, to give up my time to care for her.
  7. If one of my dearest's life were in danger, I'd go as far as doing what ever it took, even if I ended up in prison for it. If they were doing something like drugs, I wouldn't be able to do much about it except encourage them to seek help and stick by their side as they tried to fix the problem. If they chose not to, unfortunately, all I can do is sit back and hope, while vainly trying to convince them to get help. In terms of taking sides, I'd only do so in the case that it's a serious situation. If it's something trivial, I'll let them figure it out themselves.
  8. Wooooo! Team Fura! *high five* Now I just need to find out how much the ESRB is overreacting with the 'Partial Nudity' for that game, my parents probably will bar me from getting it if it contains actually nudity and not just skimpy clothing. Since when does the Souls Series even have skimpy clothes, anyways. <_< Well, it's the spritual successor. Meaning it's not actually a sequel, nor does it follow the plot. Only the mechanics of the game and the atmosphere will remain the same.
  9. Don't worry Nex, I already have it pre-ordered to arrive on release date. :P
  10. Nex...why is this game so addicting?
  11. Ah, fond memories. Especially when you have to cool off after failing over and over on a mission, then unpause it, then instantly die. Ffff. I've done that with quite a few games. WoW was one, Final Fantasy 12 was another, Runescape being another lol. Then a couple RTS games I used to play. Sucks, if you dont' keep up with the games, you lose your knack for them. Especially with MTG. :/
  12. Taking a break from a game, coming back to it, and not knowing what the [bleep] you're doing. lol
  13. haha. Well, unless you know someone well, sarcasm is hard to read over the net.
  14. The amount of false information in this post irks me. lol
  15. I'm not sure what the added expense to changing a binary from isP2POnly from true to false. Other than the Bury-All, what we usually ask for has already been developed and isn't in use. Also as Kaida pointed out, the F2P segment gives JaGEx loads of free advertising from Book of World Records among other things. Adding extra content on f2p servers costs money, regardless if the stuff has already been developed. It also gives less incentive to join p2p, which lowers potential profit, which also happens to be the purpose of f2p. F2p obviously has a value to the game, that's why it exists. But adding new content to f2p wouldn't do anything. More things to advertise is useless if it doesn't actually get people to subscribe. This is where they would need to figure out little things to add to satisfy the f2p community, but at the same time, not enough to nullify the benefits of membership. They could get away with the more simple things being added into f2p without sacrificing potential profit, but they do need to add in new things as well. As the p2p progresses, so should the f2p, just more gradually than the p2p.
  16. Both articles were very well written. I do agree that f2p needs some more content, and a few little quirks to training skills, (such as the bury x that has been mentioned 9001 times so far). The Evil Chicken article actually put a little grin on my face. I remember those days when out of no where, he'd pop up and if you didn't have prayer or something to fight with, you were pretty much screwed. On a side note...am I the ONLY p2p member that wants a Bonecrusher and finds it useful?????
  17. YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAH! ... The multiplayer can be very confusing to work with, our characters will have to be at similar levels to play together. Also, beware the [bleep]ing Flamelurker. And every time you die in body form, except for suicides in the Nexus, the game gets harder. FYI. *yawn* Someone explained the game in video form to me and commentated on the aspects. It seems rather easy. I mean, I know it probably won't be a joke or w/e to walk through. But I'm a pro at these things ;)
  18. Sooooo, Nex....I'm getting Demon's Souls relatively soon. >.>
  19. Oh look, the drama's returned. Insert sarcastic YAY here.
  20. Damn. I'm the only one that hit yes I think. Reason being, I don't really play it that often. Yes, I have membership, and I only play 1-2 days out of the month. But would I refer a friend? Sure, why not? All my old friends have kinda moved on, so I don't have anyone to chat with whenever I do log on to do w/e. And the referral would be a "Hey, check this out, see if you like it" type of thing. If they joined and turned out to like the game, I might be inclined to play a bit more. I did the same thing with WoW's recruit a friend. I invited my bf, and it made me play the game more than I used to because he got into it for a while.
  21. Or you can restrict surfing on an alternate PC account, and surf the web on that account instead of the admin account. It's not perfect, but reduces virus chances by a lot. lol
  22. It is deathly boring without you over here. lol I apologize Madame, but you see....I'm simply one hell of a busy person. Ah yes, school time. I still haven't gotten a call back from that grant/scholarship thinger majig I had call me with information. :/
  23. It is deathly boring without you over here. lol
  24. Youtube videos that end, and then have nothing but a blank screen or w/e for 2-4 minutes after the video/song/clip is over. It bugs the hell out of me.
