From what I understand, the higher your level, the harder it is to catch any Pokemon. You have a 100% pidgey capture rate at level 1 but by level 20 it's 33% https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/4vs70r/analysis_on_catch_rates_and_encounters/

Pokemon Go
since we're talking about pokemon in general... downloaded pokemon soul silver since I recall hating gen 2, but figured maybe now I'd adjust to it since they'll inevitably be coming to Pokemon Go. ...yeah I still just can't seem to enjoy the generations that came after gen I. the whole style just feels so different compared to gen I. it's like trying to enjoy dragonball GT after enjoying dragonball Z. or trying to enjoy the star wars prequels after the original trilogy. the pokemon just look so different and have such different names/themes compared to the original 151. it feels like a weird spin off rather than a continuation of the series. and I also don't have the patience to learn each new pokemon's types, weaknesses, abilities, etc. I remember when I was a kid and gold/silver came out, my friends felt the same way and lost interest in Pokemon... that probably played a role in my apathy towards the series post-gen I too. that said, gen I hasn't aged well at all. I replayed it a while back and realized I could just brute force my way through the game with just my Alakazam, 1-shotting almost everything with psychic. if I had zero exposure to the older games when I was younger, I'd probably be able to appreciate the newer games much more. sadly that's not the case :P

Finally got enough candies to evolve a Gyarados today. And I also finally found/caught my first tentacool... after getting like 6 tentacruels

Pokemon Go
Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales is a champion, the rest are just pretty good. I just hope they get better abilities than garbage Snow Cloak. I could see Snow Warning as a hidden ability for Ninetales. The thing I'm most excited about is the fact that this basically means that we won't have Mega Evolution in this game. That mechanic is so cancerous and gamebreaking. as someone who quit playing Pokemon after silver/gold, I have no idea what any of this means lol

Pokemon Go
It reminds me of the official RS forums where there was a complaints subforum and a praises subforum. The complaints forum always had like 10x the posts as the other one. Gratitude isn't something that comes easily to people. It's much easier to complain and blame. So reddit's always got a heavy outrage-bias when it comes to the circlejerks.

Pokemon Go
yeah that sub's legit

Pokemon Go
Damn looks like every pogo sub I followed on reddit has devolved into an anti-niantic circlejerk. Time to unsub from all of them :(

Alternatively, you could log all the spawns in your area and then map it out to find out where to go. I've been doing that also to find some of the more obscure nests in the tiny suburban parks that nobody visits

Pokemon Go
Check and see if your city has a Pogo subreddit. I'm fortunate to have one of those and there's a sticky where everyone has listed nests of uncommon Pokemon in various parks. Then I just go for a run around those parks to find those Pokemon

you take your phone, throw it into a lake, and then capture the wild gyarados which spawns
