Does anybody wish gravestones no longer existed? They're kind of a PvM buzzkill.

Tribute to Guthix and New Combat Abilities
I'm not sure how I feel about 0wn3dy0u4051 potentially being the descendant of the most powerful god in RS

Random Tips (Questing, Bosses, Transportation, etc.)
I think mining gold after completing Between A Rock is the best, especially w/ a ring of charos (a). Quest requires 50 smithing though http://web.archive.org/web/20081018094151/http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?page=arzinian_mines.htm

If none of the quests require prayer, then it's possible w/ 1 prayer.

Old School RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds!
Just start, the only requirement is being able to access Khazari Jungle for the vanilla leaf thingy. Right. You don't need any of the required skills, but you need all of the required quests to start Legends. You'll need the wc requirement to get into the jungle for RFD though

Old School RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds!
61 combat 49 hp 51 att 51 str 45 def 48 range 56 magic I wore a ring of recoil for every fight, plus two extras in my inventory. Food used was pineapple pizzas (they heal 22hp in two bites and are easy to make). Every time I fell below 38hp (11 below max), I'd dance with the boss and heal to full hp since a lot of the bosses can easily hit 20+ to KO you The bosses would've been a lot easier with higher stats and better gear. I used welfare gear because I'm frugal as [bleep]. I didn't have any stat-boosting potions either. My "go-to" setup for the bosses was: Mind helmet Amulet of accuracy Ava's attractor Dorgeshuun xbow + bone bolts Green d'hide body Green d'hide chaps Green d'hide vambs Ghostly boots Mind shield Ring of recoil Agrith-Na-Na: Used my default setup with a full inventory of pineapple pizzas. Not exactly the hardest boss, but it took the most food to kill because my ranged is awful. Flambeed: Same gear, ranged it. Wasn't too hard since this boss was surprisingly inaccurate with surprisingly low defense. Can hit hard, though. Karamel: Easy boss. I maged w/ fire bolt and full ghostly robes (addy gloves instead of ghostly gloves), mind shield, and magic ammy. The key is to stand right next to the boss so it melees you instead. Its melee attacks are very weak and inaccurate. Every time its magic attack hits you (and it can hit really rapidly), your stats get drained severely. Use a restore pot when you fall below 35 magic. Shouldn't need very much food. Dessourt: For this boss, I wore full ghostly, except addy gloves instead of ghostly gloves; mind shield; iban staff. This one was pretty fast-paced; both of us were hitting constant 20+ on each other (I used Iban Blast). Be careful! Gelatinnoth Mother: I can't use fire blast (56 magic) so I'd just dance with her while she was weak to fire magic. I wore my "default" gear, except with the following substitutions: amulet of magic, addy gloves, ghostly cloak. I used air staff and blast spells for the mage phases and dorgeshuun xbow for ranged and rune scimmy for melee. She hit a lot of zeros, but she also hit a lot of 20-8 hits. Always stay at full HP. If you've got chaos gauntlets, bolt spells would be good too probably. Though the chaos gauntlets don't help ranged/melee as much as addy gloves do. Culinaromancer: This guy was similar to dessous except I ranged him w/ the "default" setup. He hits hard and fast, but so do you fortunately. He can hit 25 frequently, so always stay at full HP. You can't dance with him so be very careful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otm4RusESNU

The funny thing is, even if you needed a comp cape to enter the Kiln and top-tier gear to survive, people would still complain about it within a month or two because there's so many people with those qualifications. Like I said, their desires are mere pipe dreams now.

What's wrong with playing RuneScape, honestly?
People inclined towards Introversion generally find themselves most comfortable in their own company or small groups of people. They generally have no desire or need to be around groups of people small or large to be happy. Extroverted people can view this as shyness or disinterest but they are simply two perfectly valid personality types. Extroverts by contrast, generally become bored in their own company and generally need to be around other people to be comfortable and happy. Very generalised but that is essentially what the two mean. Being introverted simply means you use up energy in social interactions and "recharge" in solitude. Extroversion is the opposite. It's a spectrum, with most people lying somewhere between the two extremes.

Have people forgotten about the Fight Kiln? You know, the Fight Caves, except more challenging and with a repeatable monetary reward?

How to become known?
I had a pretty popular blog for a bit but it was exhausting to update every day. People liked it because it was different from all the other blogs. Everybody else's blog was just, "Follow me on my progress towards X level!" and then they'd just post screenshots of their levels along the way. Boring. Mine was more "a day in the life of..." Similarly, nobody on TIF really did any PvP so I did a lot of staking and PK'ing and took screenshots of my stakes and filmed a lot of my PK'ing, which people found exciting. As a general rule of thumb, examining what everybody else does and then doing the opposite generally leads to success. :D

It's bad when the elite items are OP as [bleep]. A guy in full Nex gear + Divine was pretty much unstoppable by anyone with "normal" gear prior to EOC. Better to keep the elite items like dragon equipment used to be or like 3rd age. Let the rich have their fun collecting it, but don't make it infinitely better than its alternatives.

Lol that's like saying, "Taking heroin will give you feelings of euphoria, relaxation, and love. The only downside is that it will probably ruin your life. But that's only one downside, and there's THREE perks to doing heroin! Therefore, heroin is good!"

High Tier Item Access
It should be available to people whom it is intended for if such people have put a reasonable effort into it (by that I mean level 70 armour is for people with 70's in stats, and level 80 armour is for people with level 80's in stats and so on). That is how RS initially was and it remained that way for most of its existence. Now we have this bizarre trend where skills cannot actually generate wealth for players, and the best gear is restricted to a few parasitic players who stand around merching/staking/gambling. Being a reasonable challenge should not entail being ridiculously hard and requiring hundreds of hours to obtain a few items. It's ridiculous that someone with Maxed Skills, and Maxed Defense can only afford level 70 armour. It's a fundamental contradiction of the game that skills (you know the actual content designed to make you progress in the game) is disconnected from the process of wealth creation. I don't agree with any of this at all. Firstly, as the updating progression has always been extremely slow, it's idiotic to think that a certain level should warrant that level armor. Rs has never had that correlation and probably never will- it's always been about effort and wealth, and with reasonable effort highest level armor has always been obtainable for highest level players. Now, i understand that it's frustrating having all skills made super easy and people feeling entitled because they put in a tenth of the effort some oldschool player would have for the same result, but because of it, levels don't actually mean anything nowadays. It's all about knowledge of the game and how effective you are using that knowledge, as well as the effort you put into achieving specific goals. What do you consider to be the point of RS?

To be more detailed... Seeing my RS friends grind out 99s and capes reminds me of my RL friends who go and find shitty jobs/relationships and then never leave them because they're afraid of the repercussions. They never became any happier when they entered a new job/relationship because they only did so because that's what their friends/parents/society told them it was what they should want. They didn't stop to think of what they themselves actually wanted. They also fail to acknowledge the opportunity cost of pursuing such worthless endeavors. I suspect a lot of comp capers only got the cape because they felt obligated to do so, not because they actually enjoyed obtaining it. If they enjoyed getting those 99s, we wouldn't see so many people whining about how "easy" the game is now. If you enjoyed getting your 99s and if you did it for yourself, not for the validation of your peers, and not because you felt obligated to do so, then it'd be completely irrelevant as to whether or not it's easier now than in the past. Then there's also the irrational belief that something's only worthwhile if it's difficult to achieve, but that's another discussion. ...but isn't this discussion getting kind off-topic? :P

What's the point of getting XP in a skill if that XP won't be of any benefit to you besides glamor? I liked it better when goals were influenced by personal desires, not Jagex and groupthink.

[07]Video guide on how to get 30k+ Agility xp per hour
BTW is there any way you can conveniently lower your agility level since the lower your agility, the better XP/hr? The only thing I can think of right now is either failing the Brimhaven dart obstacle or the frozen mountain effect.

Is there a reason why they didn't make defense reduce damage in EOC? It's more like "evasiveness" than "defense."

A community divided
I forgot to mention that Tipit was never really big on PvP (particularly dangerous PvP); instead it's more focused on risk-free skilling and PvM activities... so it doesn't really surprise me that a lot of people here think 07scape is stupid. And yeah, the past two weeks in 07 have been more social than the past two YEARS in EOC. There's half a dozen people in every bank in every world, either chatting or trying to buy/sell stuff, as opposed to skilling like zombies with their chat off. Same goes for many training spots, regardless of their location. It's great. The community definitely feels more "alive" than in EOC.

The nostalgia wore off on day 1. I'm still playing 07 because it's more fun. There's no obligation to go beyond level 60 in most skills and I can have fun with PvP at any combat level.

4th March - The World Wakes
RS has never been a "challenging" game. The only time that "challenges" existed were when most peoples' combat stats were in the 70s-80s, not 99s. As far as the Caves go, they were always easy. People just didn't realize it until they understood how to complete it "properly." If I got my cape on my pure on day 1 (which was possible), how do you think everyone would react? :P Regardless, I predict that if Jagex were to release content only possible for people w/ max stats and top-tier gear, it'd either be so difficult because of the luck-factor that it would become dead content, or it would require enough skill that once people mastered it, it'd be considered "too easy" and then people would whine for a "real challenge," repeating the cycle. In other words, if you want a challenge on your main account, that's not gonna happen. Go make a new account and try battles meant for people much stronger than you if you want a "challenge." That's about as close as you'll get these days. 07scape is great for this. See how fast you can beat the Fight Caves or Haunted Mine on a DIY account.
