  1. While I personally find efficiency playing to be duller than an old, rusty knife, I understand their is a huge appeal for it these days. I'd very much like for them to have had their own forum because that way I can avoid it. Just not my deal. Watching this I do feel that a number of loyal members were treated rather shabbily by the higher ups in this place and that makes me feel rather nervous. If the honest and good people are going to be treated like crap, how is a sarcastic and annoying poster like me going to be treated? Are many of the mods and admins out of touch? Probably. Not as bad as Jagex mods at least.
  2. I'm guessing they'll pump up whoever wins, give them a new boss sequence and you have to fight tham as a.... clan! Clan! Clan clan clan, more clans, more clans. Probably not, but I wouldn't be shocked.
  3. No, but I don't seem to see many articles out of you lately. Maybe I passed over them.
  4. In your opinion. But that doesn't mean everyone thinks that way. In what way you have fun is not stated by a definition it is an opinion. Research provides the best known way to do something. Is that an opinion? Best known mathematically, but that isn't how some people have fun. If you're idea of fun is to get the most exp/gp/points/rank out of your time, so be it. Some of us don't think of it like that. I never said fun = highest numerical xp/hr or gp/hr. Even for "fun" activities like castle wars or just general fooling around, how do you know it's fun until you've heard about it and tried it? Experimentation and keeping a research-oriented mindset opens up possibilities. Likewise, being smart about how you have fun and gathering info on what you could do for fun maximizes your experiences. Stating the excuse "oh shut up I have my own way of having fun" closes your opportunities and exposes you to boredom That's how you have fun. That isn't how I have fun. If you can do something you find fun and figure a way to make it more efficient, great. And frankly, spending hours doing things, logging hours and number, making spreadsheets could not be in any way less boring that what I might do otherwise. That would make me want to hang myself. Again, that's my personal opinion. What I do for fun can be determined by a number of things. The efficiency of of that activity I choose to has no factor on me. You just can't understand my side of it. I can try it and still do things different and have fun. I just choose to not do it even if it will net me an additional 10-20k per hour. So what? My choice. So yeah, do your work. Figure out what gets you the most out of your time, and do your thing. We'll just chill over there, and do that which is slower and have as much fun as you. -edit- Soma, therein lies the difficulty of advice. It is very different on the individual. I would always advise people to do what they want. There isn't anything wrong with knowing what amounts to what and how long it takes. Some of us simply don't enjoy being reproached because we choose to do something that isn't as efficient.

  6. I couldn't agree more with this. An Times article is as already said, the author's view on something. The whole meaning with publishing an article is to share your own view with the community. Not to just say something that the community have just discussed. And according to me, this is at least one of the biggest reason to what makes the Tip.It Times what it is today; Awesome. Yes, but the Editorial Panel is so often pro-Jagex it's a bit tiring. Yes we have guest articles, but that doesn't quite balance the scales. And Rach divorced MMG. Glad I didn't spring for a wedding present in the first place.
  7. Public off would only eliminate the "0000000000's" -- you could still see the bot going through the same motions, over and over again. It was VERY obvious ... <_< An obvious bot being ignored and allowed to prosper? The hell you say!
  8. I don't do efficiency. I don't find it fun and I play this game to have fun. I do what I want, when I want. Just more interesting that way.
  9. Clans give users a reason to play as much as quest schedule releases or skill reworks do. Keeping players playing is important. That makes clan updates as important as anything else. I don't understand how you can say this update was detrimental. Just how exactly does this update hurt your gameplay? I'll eat my shoe if you can give me a valid reason, I will. I think giving more attention to clans than they should uses up finite resources that Jagex has that I think should use used in other ways. That's simply my opinion on the matter.
  10. I guess you won't be able to see the benefit unless you can get past the fact that you don't like clans. Because the benefit is clearly there, and it most certainly warranted a spot as the week's update. As does future clan support updates, after years of being woefully overlooked. I guess it's just something we'll never see eye to eye on, and that's okay I suppose :P I can get past the fact I don't like to clan. I am simply of the opinion that Jagex overestimates the importance of clans to their game and that all the fuss they give them is detrimental instead of beneficial.
  11. It's update day, usually the bots are devoid then. Also, the recent clan changes brought some pretty major changes to how the game and even the site is scripted. So, I suspect there won't be much bots for a few days. ... and yet, once again, Jagex goes a-bot-bustin' -- entirely by accident ... Jagex does their best work by accident.
  12. Yet you're implying this update has no purpose, when that's quite clearly not the case. What are you saying then, if not that they're incompetent by releasing content that you feel has no use? No, I am implying the the benefit of the update does not justify the amount of resources that were put into it. It has a purpose, just one that won't be used that much. And yes, they are a bit imcompetent, but not completely imcompetent. If you're not going to read what I write and keep seeing what you want to see, I don't see why I should bother with you.
  13. How odd. The update made me pain so badly I grew a set of testes and then had to chop them off because it's so bad. -edit- Mods, please note the above use does not in any way imply something of a sexual nature. That is a proper medical term and should be recognized as such.
  14. 1) I think quests are much more popular the clans. I also think it's a better use of resources. Yes, I dislike clans. However my judgement on this update was about how much they put into the update vs. how much they'll get out of it. 2) I think skills could use better fine tuning and some need major overhauls. 3) Think of it this way, if you played f2p 3-4 years ago and played it today, it's pretty much exactly the same. All the graphical and combat updates in the world won't get back old player or bring in new players if they feel like they played it before. 4) Which was that? More degrading Nex Armor dopped by only the highest leveled creatures? That's original... 5) Again, why I said what they should be doing. I know they are. I'm glad they're doing it. 6) No, not quite an engine update. The code needs serious reworking. Old code needs to be removed. It needs streamlining. Too much code affects other code that have nothing to do with each other. It's like the update the sewer rat and someone you can't use your house portals. -edit- Kimberly: Nowhere in my post about what they should be doing did I say they weren't doing those things. I was giving my opinion that those are the things they should be doing. Some they are, some they aren't. Jagex isn't a completely imcompetent company nor am I trying to imply they are.
  15. Once again Toad is correct with his guesses. Thank god the crashing and stuff is over with RS. Though the new hiscores is still hella glitchy. The update -may- have been planned for Monday, but the server crash thing was something entirely separate. Unless Jagex pursues this, I don't think it won't happen again. As for the new "cc's" updates, ugh.... Thoroughly annoyed at the layout, the size of icons, etc. They're cramming too much into a small interface. Also, Devnull, this topic was watched closely by moderators. Nothing was done wrong, and most people kept the topic to the matter at hand. I remember in the BTS for April is said it would be released today. It gave the date.
  16. 1) Number one would be quests. Some people might not like them, but they are overwhelmingly popular. 2) Skill rebalancing. Not saying which ones, but it could be done across the board. 3) F2p content. While I don't think F2P deserves a lot of content, I think it needs something new to bring in different players. 4) Mechanics. Let's be honest, RS uses the same mechanics for just about everything. Whether it be degrading or only the best stuff being monster drops. 5) Finding a way to take some of the grind out of current content as well as new content. Livid Farm is an example of backlash against grinding. And while not a number, I think one of the biggest is the fact that they need to streamline and rework a lot of their code. So much of it is contradictory of so much else because of the way the game was built from the ground-up. So many little updates that have giant ripples to content that has nothing to do with it. Their code needs a serious overhaul.
  17. Yes, I think the update is waste os time, effort and resources. And while for different reasons obviously, people cared yesterday. Come Friday this is going to dead.
  18. I noticed that too. This thread is surprisingly empty for the biggest update of the month. To be fair, everyone was on tip.it yesterday because they got kicked out of the game, but that still doesn't explain where everyone's disappeared to this time. Seriously, guys, where are you? They're south of Falador screwing around for 20 minutes then going back to whatever they were doing before it came out. And clans are going to be the death of this game. Personally, I'd love to call this update an abortion, but that doesn't really fit. It's more like... stillborn.
  19. That's because people actually cared about that yesterday. This is crap. Pointless waste of resources for how much it'll be used.
  20. Problem is I don't think a lot of Tip posters can take Rach as a credibly objective columnist, what with her infatuation with MMG. Also, Tip articles have a tendency to "gloss" over the faults in content. Highlight the positive, downplay the negative. To put it nicely, Tip.it columns are a bit too... "optimistic."
  21. H2G2 much? Anyway, let's say 1/3 of them are members of which 1/3 are botting. 2/3 of them are f2p of which 2/3 of them are botting. Of the rest, half of them are AFK and have yet to logout, some have been DC and can't log back in, others are reading other windows and cruising Tip, and the rest are in Daemonheim. I'd say at any given time the amount of people playing regular Runescape would be... 42... D'oh!
  22. I know of one issue that seems a bit problematic. If a poster gets a temporary ban, the ban appeal is done through the forums, which they can't access. Also, because of the banning, you also don't seem to be able to logout. I don't know. how you'd appeal a ban unless you actually emailed someone outside of the tip website. Also, Mods are a bit heavy handed in their attempts to protect the fragile mind of the chil'ren of these forums. And sometime Mods interpret you stating your opinion of a certain poster, like that they may be bitter, and they claim it's harrassment.
  23. Nope, not the end. Just steep dip in its downward spiral.
  24. [hide][/hide] MMG: How goes our efforts to restore the game? Mods: The game is working fine... MMG: No, it's not, Runescape is still down! Mods: Oh, you're talking about Runescape. MMG: What game are you talking about? Mods: We're playing Dungeon & Dragons.
