  1. Hey, it makes the new max 1650. It looks prettier :P.
  2. F2P has a way of paying without becoming members, it's called RuneCoins and Squeal, so Jagex does have an incentive to keep them happy. Your argument is old and obsolete. My argument may be old, but no where near obsolete. Give me a stat that says that since they CAN, they do, then give me another stat that says that F2Pers actually contribute >5% of income for Jagex and I'll say that it's obsolete. Just because they CAN does not mean that they do. You're argument is based off the fact that they have the ability to do something... well, all members have the ability to get 99 Runecrafting or Agility, what percentage actually do? Sure, as soon as Jagex gets us that financial report. There are plenty of F2P players who have bought Solomon's stuff.
  3. Read this as: This trial system hasn't really worked out. Bots have flooded the P2P game. So we're removing it and replacing it with [...]. Oh well, cleaning things up is good.
  4. Would downloading the client to another computer, then installing it on yours work?
  5. This was actually the first issue in quite a while. Nonetheless, we're hoping to do more and hope you enjoy reading it!
  6. You're starting with a fresh character on '07scape, so you might as well create another account to begin with.
  7. Here's a picture (ignore the exact values on y-axis, and controlled for variables, all in 5-person parties; the x is average combat): http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-40hxDA2boyg/Truz6TP3PzI/AAAAAAAAACE/vqR1VyKCjC8/s1600/CombatXP.png
  8. For one thing it was NOT a penalty imposed on 90-126, it was based on average party combat level and it was a sliding scale all the way down.
  9. That's interesting-and yes, note that the number of rooms has no effect, as long as they are all completed.
  10. Jagex doesn't have 750,000 (real) members now.
  11. I don't remember them slapping on a trade limit until early 2012 (maybe February?) though..
  12. I think it was more of Jagex trying out the trial as, well, a trial run. Before you start flinging free membership at every new account you might want to try a few random ones first and generate statistics, particularly numbers on what fraction might continue as P2P.
  13. Technically the two weeks of membership makes you ineligible for the lists. To what extent (and under what conditions) you are regarded as 'pure F2P' despite the trial varies among the community. To decebal: ALL new accounts get the trial, as far as I've seen. My friend has done it three times so far without any IP address tricks.
  14. Perhaps that's just a little harsh..some people may not like SUOMI due to character deficiencies (I don't really know him) or other things, he has still (almost) accomplished something that no one on RuneScape has. And even though I may not agree fully with the principal, I certainly wouldn't say it's a bad article, let alone the worst ever :(.
  15. what game is this Some day, someone will say the same thing about pre-EoC screenshots.
  16. That line is just total bullshit. Any player that I know now enjoyed the game as it previously was, but they have released amazing content that A LOT of people enjoy more than old school scaping. Honestly all it is nostalgia, once that wears off it'll be dead like the Classic servers after they closed them when they reopened them for newer members. Over 200-300k accounts logged on at once, IN ITS PRIME. Most of the people that played then have grown past this game as it was just for their childhood, how many of those who are adults that quit as kids would come back? I highly doubt they would, and if they did it would be for a few days to reminisce and then they would be on their merry way. Look, the Jagex staff have said themselves that the game was in "terminal decline" during those years.
  17. He was likely trolling anyway :P.
  18. I was informed by some friends that fishing rocktails with the fish flingers outfit is 398-399 xp each. The fishing calculator indicates that it should be 389.4 xp each. The unboosted amount is 380. Looking more closely, the issue seems to be that it is calculating a 2.5% increase for the whole outfit on any fish, whereas it should be 5%. Is this all correct or is there something I might be missing?
  19. Another note-generally in other countries, you see "." used in place of a comma when separating digits of a number :).
  20. F2P, 1:1, C6 Record? Close?
  21. Skepticism and negativity won't really get us anywhere either. At least now more people are aware of the issue. I wouldn't either, but it doesn't mean that there shouldn't be some awareness on the issue. I personally don't give a rat's ass about how endangered some long-nosed shrew is somewhere in the states, but it's nice to see that people care about even the small things. Same can be said about the display name black market. Sometimes you need to look something as part of the entire picture, like looking at a whole mosiac rather than focusing on one or two tiles. For example, the long-nosed shrew might be prey for a species of moles that help to fertilize the soil. Without shrews, the moles die off or move somewhere else, and agriculture declines, putting stress on farmers' income and increasing food prices. IF it were not against Jagex's rules and IF there were a secure way to complete the transaction, perhaps there would be fewer objections, and I did briefly mention this possibility near the end of the article. But keep in mind that for now, that's diving deep into the hypothetical. There is also the issue that, as another post mentioned, if you are scammed you're feeding the scammers. It's sort of like giving 10k to a 'doubler' to see if on the off chance they will do it-but you're likely giving them exactly what they want instead.
