  1. Congrats..and psst, if you want to join a clan...
  2. So now bots can get xp for picking flax?
  3. That claim is rather interesting. I was actually under the impression that restricted trade saved RuneScape. In one of their videos last year, I quite clearly recall them stating that the game was in "terminal decline" in 06-07. To the best of my knowledge the issue was bots paying for membership via credit card fraud, and then Jagex having to return the money, giving Jagex quite a hit and ultimately leaving them with no choice but to place restricted free trade on the game. But if you have anything that indicates that was not the case, I would be interested to read it.
  4. I'm aware of this, and in fact noted it in the article :). Still, the fact that they (tried to) do it should raise some eyebrows.
  5. Echoing this, note that Jagex had a loss of 9.5 million pounds (although that included an investment of 15m into new products) in 2011 (see p. 9 here).
  6. Hello-free players can't post on the forums due to "technical difficulties." There was a mass spamming issue so they've blocked all F2P players from posting in (almost all) of the forums until they figure out some way of preventing it on their end, I guess. Edit: See here: [qfc]294-295-171-64859576[/qfc]
  7. Ah, I forgot Runespan was released. Is F2P Runespanning basically the same as P2P? It's essentially the same, although you can only access the entirety of the first level and parts of the second, so the XP rate would be knocked down a bit.
  8. Visitor upkeep for citadels is now gone, yay!
  9. Welcome! Have you been playing RuneScape a while?
  10. Always glad to try, even if I wasn't of too much assistance. I hope that it gets resolved for you soon though :).
  11. The site itself seems to be fine for me, if a little on the slow side to load. Perhaps your computer is running a lot of stuff and the Zybez page pushes it over and crashes it. I would try restarting it and seeing if performance improves. And also, what browser are you running?
  12. Or we could just put Castle Wars tickets on SOF.
  13. Thanks for your comment :). Regarding the interview, that was a typo and it's now been corrected. Thanks for spotting that for us!
  14. I'm not an expert but didn't they just take that world popularity data away? My impression is that what broke a runite ore timer that someone made a thread about recently.
  15. Try finding them on Twitter and keep bugging them by responding whenever they tweet (politely) until they get someone to investigate for you.
  16. Hmm, I personally don't mind pausing every minute to throw more logs on the bonfire, so I'm unsure as to what would be good...but if you don't mind the pausing (there is a hotkey for it) I can recommend a game worth trying.
  17. You're holding a magic weapon as well?
  18. Everyone's walking around w1 in a daze now, lol.
  19. Hi everyone, We talked at the beginning of the year about how we wanted to make 2013 fun, memorable and special to all of you. We’ve still got a lot to do, but are starting to make good progress, especially in the war on botting and gold farming. From listening to your feedback we've made changes to address an issue that many of you brought up as a point of concern: Player-Run Games of Chance. Also known as flower games, hot/cold games or dicing, these games of chance had grown to become a major problem for the community and for us as the administrators of the RuneScape. In these games of chance, “hosts” offer other players a deal - usually by publicly spamming - and take a bet on the outcome of a randomised event. Such activities create many problems: they encourage spam advertising; the trust-based trades are rife with scamming; they're disruptive to the game's economy; they create feelings of unfairness; and have links with real-world trading and gold farming. From the recent forum discussion thread on this topic started by Mod Mark, it's clear that the overwhelming majority of you do not want this activity to remain in RuneScape. As such, we are making the following changes: Firstly, with immediate effect, we’re making an addition to the rules of RuneScape: You must not advertise, organise, promote or participate in player-run games of chance, where game money or items are staked on the outcome of a random activity. Any account found to be involved in such games of chance will receive a strike against their account. As with other offences, this will escalate from muting to temp-banning, and then to a last-resort action of permanent ban. While the hosts and advertisers of such activities are the obvious part of the problem, the players taking part are also at the root of the issue. If we’re to stamp out this type of disruptive behavior, everyone involved needs to be held accountable. The full details of this new rule can be found in the Rules of RuneScape. As with all rules, this applies to both the main and old school services. Secondly, in today’s game update we’ve made changes to certain in-game items which are regularly used in games of chance: mithril seeds, the Easter Ring/Ring of Egg, the Seal of Approval emote and the Classic Cape emote. To prevent their use in games of chance and to reinforce fair play, we have removed all randomised outcomes and actions from these items: Planted mithril seeds now always grow the same coloured flower, although picking the flower will still result in a randomly coloured flower in your inventory. Using the Ring of Egg will now always turn your character into a blue egg. The Seal of Approval emote now chooses the same seal every time it’s used. Clicking on the Skill Cape emote button when wearing the Classic Cape will always display a rune hatchet image. As with our war against botting, this is an ongoing effort and not a one-off resolution. We will continue to monitor the situation and make updates as appropriate in an effort to provide the fairest and most balanced resolution to this issue. Thank you for your comments on this topic so far. Please continue to give us your feedback so we can ensure we’re tackling the problem in the long term. Let us know on the forums. Thanks for reading, Mod Pips Executive Producer Full details are available on our FAQ here. Discuss this here. Behind the Scenes Video Take a look at our latest Behind the Scenes video here: (vid) In Other News This week’s update has also made Momentum a persistent, toggled ability, much like Incite or Single-Way Wilderness. No adrenaline is generated while it is active, and it is still cancelled by use of any other ability. From today, Diango will be able to replace items with combat stats which have been obtained from the Squeal of Fortune. This carries of a fee of gold coins relative to the highest wield requirement for the item that you can access. Please note that following items cannot be retrieved from Diango if they have been destroyed prior to today's update: shark fists, TzHaar whip, Cupid bow, rosethorn wand, broken heart. The bonecrusher now crushes all bones dropped by a vanquished enemy, rather than just their guaranteed drop. All references to player-run games of chance have been removed from the Quick Chat options. Superior player-owned ports armour can now be repaired at any stage of degradation. A selection of minor bug fixes have been made across the game. Please see the patch notes for details.
  20. Have you guys considered expanding or redoing the numbering a bit on the list of top players in each skill? For example, if there are 5 players at 200m xp, the standard way of ranking is to put them as T-1 or label them in the order they were achieved, then put the next player down as rank 6, not rank 2. You could still potentially keep a number of tiers though, in case there are a bunch of 200m's in that skill, even if it would exceed a total of 10 people.
  21. That may be a valid point, but there are a couple of counterpoints: 1. The cost of runes is far lower than what it was before. Between bots, the chance of double runes between levels, more generous xp, and general progression of runecrafting levels, the cost of runes was driven down. EoC finished it off by eliminating the need for catalytic runes and making magic training available for literally pennies. With a staff, a spell like fire bolt or fire blast can be cast for 20-30 coins, and Air Bolt/Blast for free! This is in comparison to hundreds of coins a cast before, which would be enough to break a lower level player's bank, so to speak. 2. With the new xp system due to EoC, how much xp would be awarded and how? Experience seems to be awarded from a kill, and it was always a fraction of the amount outside of FoG due exactly to the free runes. I guess they could add a few hundred xp a kill, but making it work like the old system would require some coding.
  22. +45 Total Levels for New Max before New Skill. I doubt that F2p will get to access Guilded Alters but that would be nice. The Monthly Distraction & Diversion is a way to train Construction up to Level 5. Right now F2P has 1 in all skills. Increasing it to 5 is a gain of four levels in each of nine skills. So actually, it's +36 total levels :).
  23. So people who got 10 xp in Agility 3 years ago by mistake can sneak on the F2P list, big deal. Otherwise there isn't much distinction.
