I'm a bit dissapointed in you Keiphus  . I thought you'd be against all those eye-candy flash sites. My policy with flash sites is pretty simple. If there is an intro...that's all I'm going to see before closing the window.

Great job! The edges...ahh...pain to fix. Too bad smudge tool leaves them :(

I'm not being rude or anything, but right I am for sure. Let's look at your knight and then take mine for example of brushing. I'd say there is little point to pixeling if you don't harness the posibility to create mad detail.

[new terragen surface map!]- 2 versions. a best. sig sizes.

I like it and all, but may I ask why your compressed one's are always so much lighter? I haven't noticed that happening that much to anyone else. PS The sun in the mystery atmo quite bothers me. Otherwise good job. -
I just wonder why in Pete's sake are you coloring it with pixeling. There is nothing to be gained and alot time to be wasted. I could do that kind of coloring with brushes in about 5 minutes. :( When there is no "detail penalty" from brushing you should really opt for it. Definately in a large piece like this with little minor details.

I always saw him just intelligent and introverted not evil. Anyway, thanks guys. I'll be posting the full one pretty soon.

There's a game called Chrono Trigger which I would mention in the top 5 games I've ever played. The drawing is somewhat based on one of the games characters "Magus". (he is a 20x15 pixel sprite in the game, so don't worry of it being too referenced). Anyway...I couldn't wait untill I get it ready so I'll let you chew on it now. (and Ryan keeps nagging about wanting to see more works from me ) Hopefully I can convert someone to try to paint instead of those darn pixels.....

I don't get it thoug. You people hate "RS noobs" and say stuff like "fr33 stuff ple4s3! kthx!1!2". But when media noob comes to say "Ph33r linkz to RenDer turorials" you are all cool with it. Learn to do it yourself or learn to live with the fact you can't. Or...actually I don't mind if you do rip the images and make some lil siggys and be all proud and stuff. But just for my, venomai's, Ryan's, Nad's, TJ's, everyones who likes to try to do it "hisself" sake, please, don't ask for a "render tutorial" if you haven't first modeled anything.. and please....don't call clipping an image from a background "rendering skills". And actually...don't even use the word render if it clearly is a drawing. Check the dictionary for the word first, then rip along for all I care.

Just a stupid rant I know, but why don't you use acronyms like "Photoshop" and "PS" like normal people and don't make us guess which of the wide range of Adobe's programs you are referring to. To make the effect if PS. Create text. Create a new layer on top. Hold alt (or option) and click between layers. Set the upper layer to blend mode Screen. Select the black to white to black gradient and make a diagonal one. Voila. Go to ImageReady (if you have it...if you dont...you cant animate it in your abode software) and look at any ImageReady tutorial to figure out how to animate the white flash.

Cutting a picture is now rendering? God..."working on my rendering skills.." don't make me cry please. For some odd reason it almost looks ok but then, THEN you look at the edges (the "rendering" quality). And it's well...not that good. But as you are looking at the edges you are bound to notice the most horrible mistake a man has ever witnessed. Please tell me why did you put a drop shadow on a picture you somehow would like to blend into the image? Drop shadow And an outer glow??? I'm fainting man.

Whee, someone agrees with me! Dithering, be it handmade or computer generated is the plague of the universe. I tend not to post too often and typically would let this kind of WIPs go by until the final piece, but this is just too good and you are not getting the feedback it deserves. That is ultra-frigging-credible! The detail on the dragon plate just totally blows me away. The blade is not like in rune? Who cares? Do you actually think every sword made would look identical? It's a game...they have to simplify things. It's pretty much your best so far. Never seen such detail even by you. GJ. PS sorry....I keep opening the image over and over...eating your bandwith.

Howdy [bleep]! Great work, very realistic apart from the hand. It's like a beautifull lady with THE DEMON CLAW! I think the fact that fingers are so far apart from each other makes it look threatning. Like a zombie grabbing on to her. I think the color is a little paler and less saturated on the hand too, making it look a bit out of place.

Your guys are flying in straight lines? It looks highly unnatural.

Try holding your arms facing directly to your sides...now you realised why the pose is off? If you are shrugging like that, your hands are poiting much more towards the viewer (in this case). On top of that, the shoulder pads should be facing away, thus leaving only a bit of the horns to be seen. The head is also too small as mentioned and the torso is too long vertically. That's all I can think of. The main character is all you are missing from a great signature there.

I don't want to come off rude after you have offered a peacefull way out of this quarrel. But. Why is there always the "but"? gosh.... Just advice...non flamatory. It is still blurry. If you haven't, my suggestion is to make the texture in twice the resolution vs the planet. So that it can come off clean and crispy after the spherize. If you have done this..cool, but then I'd start with a spiffyer texture since it does seem IMO a bit like a huge boulder covered with moss  :D Oh and the layer thingies I mentioned...they are very minor and I doupt many can see them (don't have PS at hand so I can't shove em in their faces by amplifying   ) but you could spot a cut in the left part of the planets atmosphere (right on the equator). I do know it is your 2nd planet and so was mine actually...hehe. I congratulate you on far more realistic color scheme than mine and normally I wouldn't have started anything like this. I just read the parts "hard to take advice from someone like you = you are an utter noob when it comes to PS". And "not something that looks like brown dirt = ha, that planet you made...sure it didn't get its birth in a toilet?". Btw the clouds you removed, nothing wrong in them. (well, could use a bit more character ). I was actually talking about things still in it. All in all. Good job for a second planet. For the record I stood in rain outside in chilling temperatures for 5 hours yesterday shivering for the latter half of it without headgear or gloves. Which of course resulted in a major headache and fever today. It might be my vision that's blurry....
-
Btw some "constructive critisism". I showed it to my 15-year-old lil brother. Without any "preparations" he said "my god that's blurry" before the whole image even loaded. Upon lookin at it during less bright circumstances (evening) I noticed it has about 5 or 6 layer cuts (you know....sudden cuts in brightness/color) in the space area. Might want to remove those. And Keiphus...that's propably what he did and what I did anyway. (and don't you "kid" me   )
-
Hard to take advice from someone like me? Excuse me but are you trying to insult me here? Sure seems that way. Actually, I really don't give a dam since I sure know my planets would out rank you any day. And I wasn't talking about the white thing in the middle. I was talking about those little things ontop. The ones made of solid color and sharp edges (set to overlay?). I really haven't seen anything resembling those in real planets (or planets made by artist for that matter).
-
The texture is pretty blurry. Work on it on a bigger resolution. The random "clouds"?? on it are just ...EW..and very unrealistic.
-
Copy/pasting the same arm twice throws the shading and anatomy off. But I like the idea
-
My comment wasn't actually directed at you. (the "nothing special" part was...but then again perhaps only a few works of mine have been anything "a bit of special") It was against this..horde.. of pixel people who keep celebrating these minor feats. Or even more so against the whole concept... I HATE people who say they are different...they are the ones who are the GD clicḫ̩̉̉.
-
wow, how inspiring and fabulous. Not. Seriously.. please stop "searching" for an inner meaning in a picture like that and praising it. The concept took you..what...2 minutes? Drawing another 5. There is nothing special about it..
-
Two of the same planet...why? Btw..is it a stock planet or selfmade? And why is the right planet see-through? The colour of the space and the planets don't work together too well. Too close yet not the same. Oh and the space? It has same nebulas over and over again... :?
-
If that text is all MS Paint can produce (un AA) (I wouldn't know since I don't have paint) I suggest getting Photoshop or Gimp. I think you did a nice coloring job, but next time you should try drawing the character by yourself. You can only get so many different poses tracing on RS.
-
excuse me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a moon not a crater?

Don't your first time pixelers ever get it?? THAT is NOT shading. That has nothing to do with shading... Look outside...do you see a gradient starting from sun? No! Make it darker where the shadows are...not where it's furthest from the sun... That pool of lava for instance.. it looks like a red rock since you shaded dark the area where a shadow would be should it be a rock. (btw...lava + grass = no grass + FIRE) I suggest forgetting the light source for a second. Then shade in a way that makes things look 3D instead of flat cardboard. If you succeed then the next time you can do the 3d shading in accordance to the light source (which you by nature pretty much do the first time anyway..) oh and it is better than the average first...you have some hope with your line work...that's why I bothered to comment anyway
