  1. thats the plan (as a extremely successful RS merchant i think ill do just fine).
  2. hmmm well you should do what i did with making some profit on GE... find something that is going up in value for at least 3 days... buy some of it... wait a day then sell it for more... 3 isnt really technically a statstic but it tracks it for a long time so look back and see if its been mostly going up in value in the last month and preferibly gone up by at least 5% in um 7 days. Id say thats probably worth your time. Its not as simple as buying cheap selling high... as with the stock market prices can fluxuate a bit. So gotta make sure that it goes up in price... and i recomend keeping track of at least 10 things that you could afford to invest in. Its probably better to make a 1% sure profit then 10% maybe profit.
  3. Hello fellow tip.iters some of you know me, some of you dont (those that do are probably by my nuclear Co. line of companies or my merchanting guide, though most of people that would know me would be from the Marketplace (Smithing/crafting). note: Im also now starting on writing a book Also i had a bit of a setback and wont beable to start for a while so until thing ill just come visit forums for a while you can reply to this as you wish and i may or may not try to keep it up. This is where ill be telling you guys about my buisness adventures in the real world... to give you some idea's here is my farewell speech. Fairwell tip.it/runescape, i have decided that I probably wont play again (unless sumoning is really awesome (as i still got like 20+ days for membership). I have learned much from RS. For instance that noobs are really really annoying and that making a buisness can be fun as well as annoying. On that note i have a bit of an anouccement. That I am going into the freelancing buisness (Yes the "steel giant" is gonna have a real buisness. Look out world here i come . I might keep you guys posted on how that goes in a blog topic so keep your eye out for me. Anyway to all my friends and anyone that knew me Ii bid you farewell. Ill still come by every once in a while. expectally while i still have membership remaining lol. You'll all might like to know that i submitted a last request to jagex to allow merchanting to survive. Who knows if they will listen to the merchant gone freelancer. -Nuclear_man2 Topic was removed (supprisingly it stayed up longer then i thought in the Smithing/crafting part of the market place). I'll be updating this periodically so ya. I'm working on my website now so ill add that somehow (either in my profile or elsewhere). I'll put up my logo once my website is online. [hide=Business Log] Dec 28, 2007 - Came up with idea, started making webpage and researching it. Initial time until completion: Jan 10th: Webpage/Documents Feb 2ed: Business cabible of taking clients. Jan 4th, 2008 - Ahead of scedule website capible of going online within 3 days, business within 2 weeks. Also on that day I noticed someone reported this post... I'm glad that I was correct in posting it here. ~Jan 5th, 2008 - had a bit of a setback, so website wont be up until probably march, until then ill be gaining some more capital. Jan 6th, 2008 - Started talking to a graphic designer (ill from here on in refer to him as "DA"). Jan 7th, 2008+ - DA starts making some free logo's for my buisness, also helps come up with an improvement to the name. Jan 10th, 2009 - DA has already made over 20 Logo designs and ive selected a banner logo, and almost got a regular logo. -Actual web will probably not be hosted until about march. [/hide][hide=The Buisness] The plan is to start off my making web pages for small buisnesses in the area. I might start a blog later on, but that will be after my website is up and running. I plan to make simple web pages at first with no other real coding other then HTML and what I can do with Microsoft Frontpage 2002 (going to be looking into other software as well). I''ll expand to other coding methods as I learn them. I currently do not have any graphic designing skills. So if graphic design is required I'll probably direct them to a graphic designer (probably my good friend DA). If you got any other questions just post them here. [/hide]
  4. would be nice to have a custom rank before i left. So i entered.
  5. then perhaps u should make it longer when ur at it. and maybe make it into paragraphs so it looks nicer
  6. ya that probably work fairly well, 1.5k ingame? how many did u buy/sell at a time?
  7. i beileve if i recall right they are gonna update it so thats its 30k instead, not much but still, and that did not apply when i wrote the guide... i was gonna update it with a new method i found, however while it worked good at first, prices will also eventually fall back down... and thus the method will eventually lead to loss of money, hopefully less then u gained threw the method... but still decided not to add it... while that does affect the smelter part. THe main point is that any form of merchanting thanks to the updates is highly deminished by the time they kick in, as the more merchanting is allowed the more it is possible for the RWTs to get back into RS. Thus any alternative merchanting method has to be heavily researched to check for flaws, and even though there is no real sure fire way that i know of that is effective as the former method. In essance if merchanting was a person, jagex cut off one arm and one leg. leaving it not entirely useless, but defiinitely not very helpful. If any one knows any decent ways to merchant, (say capible of reaching 100k or more in a reasonible amount of time, without skilling tell me and ill look into it, and add it to this guide. Btw for those who wanted to know the method i was gonna add was basicly this... keep track of an item on the GE, if it keeps going up daily start buying into that item, if u can sell within a day, buy some more, (this i tried on steel bars and gold ore, which worked well until both started to deflate which combined cost me 2.8M (i think i made 1.5-2.5M before the prices deflated, mind u i was merchanting with 58M cash to work with, and used at least half of it at a time).
  8. well then id say u should merchant, keep track of some prices, buy at market price and sell above that later i made um probably 1M+ today doing that (then again i got 50M to work with).
  9. not its not actully, watch an item on the exchange for 3 days, if it market price goes up, then buy some of it, if u buy the right items you can sell them a day or 2 later when the price has gone up. One of the many ways you can merchant still. However yes... merchanting for the most part is non-existant, howeve its far from dead. Got a friend making 4M+ a day still (he always did pretty well but never had much cash in the long run lol). Ill update this with some of those ways later, right now im keeping a logg of prices that have a possiblility of going up (im currently tracking roughly 45 items). in fact made 200k off of gold ore today, and i got 143k willows in bank ill either fm or sell for a profit of roughly 8gp ea or more. you just have to work inside of the system, if your not flexible then you will fail.
  10. I found something interesting just recently, you can now check the price of items (at the exchange), by right clicking on them, then clicking value... Well just a little thing i noticed. Kinda makes sense though, would need that information for the balanced trade thing anyway.
  11. Not sure if this was the right forum, but i found something interesting just recently, you can now check the price of items (at the exchange), by right clicking on them, then clicking value... Well just a little thing i noticed. Kinda makes sense though, would need that information for the balanced trade thing anyway.
  12. well you forget, that pking isnt the only thing done in the wild (rune mining).
  13. um ya, i dont Pk/duel so i didnt really have any imput there lol, but its all cause of RWT...
  14. NOTICE: Parts of this idea comes off a thread from tip.it. Forums, who probably know who they are. When the unbalanced trade solution went out, my first thought was hmmm that will work well however at what cost. The limits put on the unbalanced trade where far greater then those put on the Grand Exchange overall. So this will be my main focus, as like many others this affects me the most. So far what I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve seen from Jagex in the war against RWT has only been brutal logic. A thought process that goes something like this ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åthe intent to win this fight and all others.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  15. true but i have to wonder if the auther is member or f2p, if f2p then smithing was pretty much "useless" from the start, however you can still buy ores, and smelt bars for profit, but thats not a very quick way, but thats how it normally is, sure bolts for member used to work pretty good, you could even say that arrows kinda worked for a while too, but overall smithing has never been a very effect way to make money, however it could make money. and penguingeek3 its true ur statement for prices.
  16. um u forget rune pl8s = 5 bars... 15x5=75... if u sell for 80 thats 5k profit (and the ore is worth about 11.5-12.5k ea as a member i smith iron arrowtips and make money Im a rune smith btw, and i personally like smithing, however with prices the way they are now aint much that can be smtihed profitibly... u could buy ores and smelt bars while making money but thats about it execpt for what i mentioned above.
  17. thats what people said when i started playing however after merchanting for years i managed to get enough for a red mask, however.... with the way things are now your probably right...
  18. you obviously dont know how the Grand exchange works its automatic, -if more people buy below the market price then poeple sell above it, it will go down if more people buy above it then sell below it, it will go up Else it will stay the same, thus its really the players affecting the market wanting to get things cheaper (those would be the merchants), while if prices are going up its becuase they are willing to pay more for them (those would be the skillers who buy stuff to lvl)
  19. ya expectally if jagex goes overboard again trying to stop rule breakers... we'll probably forgive them eventually this time, but perhaps not the next time.
  20. agreed be happy... complain about more quests in a month
  21. actully they might if they see it from a finacial perpective... maybe use his system but have it cost like $10 to unlock right away (so they dont have to wiat a year)... if thiers bots doing this... then.... say theres 100k bots... they have to pay $10 to allow them to unlock the account each... thats $1M for jagex... , and say that unlock only works for 1m (until you get the account for a year), thats another $12M for jagex, if all the bots pay the money, then after a year they wouldnt need to pay. IM not saying this to encourage jagex to charge us more money, just use it as a deturent... after all they all ready detured them... now allow the regular players some lee-way, as they shouldnt be getting punished for what other people did, im sure the majority of actual players are not bot holders, while keeping the real life traders at bay.
  22. thats a brillant idea, however i dont really like the numbers, perhaps increase the amount u can trade daily. And of course if you get banned/muted, the embargo would be increased, however im thinking like start with 3k for the lvl 3s and then as the days go on add like 5k or so a day, after a month that increases to 10k, 6 months its 20k a day, and after a year its unlimited, you could even make it so that the players who played longer would be able to give stuff the the lower lvls, however because of the embargo they wouldnt beable to trade it off easily, and if they did they would have to like sell it on the exchange. However, i highly think jagex should look into this idea, as it could be the holy grail... however the numbers above might have been a little low. and i agree with a trust system influencing this, however i think it should be based on a day to day basis, rather then a monthly one. like every "trust point" you get, you are allowed to trade 1k, you get a exponetally increasing numhber, like u start getting a few a day, after you play for a month ur up to beable able to trade 50-100k, another month and its 1m. And i feel that jagex should have indeed at least taken a poll, jagex carelessly commited resources to fixing a problem, that they knew full well would heavly influence the game, im not saying it was needed, but if we knew it was coming we might be prepared, or at least know he had some hand in doing it (if there was a poll, of how to go about doing it).
  23. This is a list of Jagex Actions that have affected Runescape, and how Jagex seems to have done things a bit half-hazardly. I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m sure Jagex knew that it was gonna tick off a lot of people in its process of getting rid of gold farmers, however it doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t help you one bit if you tick off a the majority of it of the majority of the 4 main groups of Runescape (that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a lot of people). Here are the list of their actions, and how they affected Runescape slowly killing it, however I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not typing this to complain on the contrary I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m typing this to show how their attack on gold farmers while extremely effective (something I have to give them kudos for) however has crippled Runescape̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s economy, by having major and devastating effects on pretty much everyone, anyone who wanted to make money, their methods are pretty much useless after Jagex̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s latest blow. -Merchants can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t merchant really, other then to make profits of about 3k or so, unless they find a way to work around the system, but even that won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be very effective. -Skillers can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t sell for as high as they could. -Stakers can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t make any real money staking. -Pkers can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t make any real money either. These are what I consider the 4 main groups of people who play Runescape will fall into one or more of these categories. Mind you these are all about cash aspects, not all people think about the money. However Jagex has made radical changes to pretty much every conceivable aspect of the trading process. However, as I said before I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not here to patronize Jagex, I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m only doing this to show that, Jagex took the way I probably would have took to defeat an enemy, to destroy its ability to exist. They solved the problem with what I can only describe as brutal logic. If someone is going to hit you, break their arm, and then they won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be able to use the arm to hit you with, that is brutal logic. However I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m sure you and I know that it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s not exactly necessary for you to break someone̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s arm to stop them from hitting you. I think Jagex has made its point, it is fully capable and willing to do whatever it feels necessary to stop gold farming. However, it didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t have to go as far as it did. So here begins the actual document̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ the alternative solutions. The following are methods are ways in which gold farmers can trade their money. All problems are pre-update problems. The solutions have words behind them describing how harsh the solutions are. I would prefer people not judge the solutions as being too extravagant, as obviously Jagex has already show us they are willing to do whatever they feel they need to solve the problem, but rather judge them as weather they would 1.) Stop/Slow down Gold Farmers, and 2.) Be effective at keeping merchants, Stakers, Pkers and/or Skillers happy. Mind you just making one of the 4 happy would be an improvement, as each update affects each one differently. Jagex goal seems to have been to wipe out Gold farming without any real concern for the players. Sure we don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t like the farmers anymore then you guys, however we don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t want the game we enjoy playing (or just play) destroyed in the process. So thus I have come up with alternative solutions to each of the problems Jagex proposed [hide=Unbalanced Trades] Problem: Gold Farmers are able to trade millions of GP, to the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åbuyer̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
